Carolina Fardig has a winner in her Java Jive Mystery series. The characters seem life like and contemporary. Juliet Langley is now a private investigator and is a little hesitant to bend the rules like she has in the past. Juliet's partner has left the country to visit family and Juliet leaves Juliet to continue surveillance on a local company. She and her best friend agree to go undercover as bridal show models to help a co-worker determine whether his fiance really overdosed or if it was really a murder. Meanwhile, she tries to still manage the coffeehouse. There are some pretty tense moments but Juliet lands on her feet and retains her PI license

Brew or Die is the latest story in the Juliet Langley series about Java Jive. If you enjoy Stephanie Plum you will also like Juliet. A little bit of romance, a little bit of humor, and a couple of mysteries thrown in make an excellent read. I was given an early copy to review.

Juliet's still managing Java Jive coffee house for her BFF Pete Bennett, but joining her friend Maya Huxley as a licensed P.I. gives her penchant for investigating an outlet.

When her ex-boyfriend, Ryder, keeps shadowing her while she is with her present cop boyfriend John, sparks fly, causing Juliet to question all of her relationships.

Multiple investigations leave Juliet over-extended and reassessing her life and her music.

Characters have grown in leaps and the excellent writing to keep all the various investigations exciting is easy to follow.

The book was a good read; it was nice to see the author increasing the depth of the characters.

Another fast, fun read. This time Juliet, who now has a PI license, and Pete are looking into why the fiancé of one of the Java Jive employees was found dead of an OD when they knew she wasn't a drug user. Many of the characters from previous novels are brought back and the antagonists are equally colorful. Thanks to Net Galley and Alibi for an ARC for an honest review.

Brew or Die is the fourth book in Caroline Fardig’s Java Jive Mystery series and is a well-written story, with well-developed characters, that moves along at a steady pace. Ms. Fardig has combined witty dialog with relatable characters and just the right blend of mystery and romance. There’s adult language in this book, but no graphic violence or explicit sexual situations. There are enough twists and turns, action, and potential suspects to keep the reader engaged. I recommend this series to readers who enjoy reading a well-crafted cozy mystery.

Juliet Langley manages Java Jive, a Nashville coffee shop, owned by her best friend, Pete Bennett. At the urging of her friend and private investigator, Maya Huxley, she’s now a licensed private investigator and working with Maya. Pete worries about her safety and wishes she’d give up sleuthing and spend her time away from Java Jive working on her music. Juliet and her current boyfriend, Detective John Stafford, move their relationship to the next level but then things happen to make her second guess that decision. Juliet’s first official assignment is to catch a cheating husband and her second is to investigate a financial issue for a local manufacturer. The first assignment is successful but the second case turns out to be more complicated and dangerous than she originally thought it would be. When Juliet’s ex-boyfriend, Detective Ryder Hamilton, shows up while Juliet is working the case, he convinces her to work with him. When the fiancée of one of Java Jive’s baristas dies from a drug overdose in her office at a party planning business, Juliet and Pete agree to investigate and work undercover at a wedding expo. Juliet and Pete discover wedding expos and party planning can be dangerous.

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

Possibly the best book in the series so far! Glad to see Juliet back with her friends, & now certified as a PI. I found the story line moved along quickly & I had no idea who the murders were until they were revealed at the end. Left hanging with her relationships once again, & looking forward to the next book in the series. Thank you!

I thought that this was a great installment to what is quickly becoming one of my favorite mystery series. I enjoyed seeing how Juliet has matured some (but not too much) and takes being a P.I. seriously.

This entry in the Java Jive Mystery series just has too much of the romance vibe for me. From the ridiculously long, overdrawn, holding out on a relationship with best friend Pete to the yearning for the newly changed Ryder, the real emphasis felt like a romance novel, not a mystery novel. And the mystery itself wasn't that engaging to me. I still enjoy the scene-by-scene writing of Fardig, but the plotting felt weak to me in this one, and the only suspense seemed to be about who Juliet will or won't end up with. I guess I'm just not the right audience for this series.

Yet another adventure for Juliet Langley. With a new private investigators license and a new boyfriend she embarks on her first official case while still working at the coffee shop. Her former boyfriend Ryder can't stop wanting to protect her and win her back. As with all her past adventures, this has twists and turns that keep the reader wanting more. Another winner for the author, Caroline Fardig.

This book was another saga in the Java Jive mystery series, and it certainly did not disappoint! The characters are so incredible. This story had so many new twists and turns to keep the reader engaged and invested in the outcome. I think this may be the best one yet. You don't want to miss this one.

OMG it is official now. Juliet has her PI license. This book felt like there was more going on for her PI cases and less of the Java Jive shop. Yes, there are still lots happening at the shop but her focus seemed to be on the cases. I missed Gertie's smart remarks. She was a very minor player in this book. I liked the relationship issues that Pete and Juliet struggle with. Will they ever get together? I keep reading in hopes to find the answer.
I recommend this book. It has mystery, drama and a touch of romance all rolled into one book. Love it!

Juliet had finally gotten her PI's license and is eager to get started. Her first case is to catch a cheating husband and she does, right before he gets stabbed. Then there is another death affecting the staff at Java Jive and she and Pete decide to get to the bottom of what the police are writing off and not investigating. That leads them to a bridal fair and undercover work.

John and Juliet are moving right along in their relationship and all seems well. But then Ryder shows up to try to tell ker something about John that makes her pull closer to him instead of away, just because it's Ryder who's telling her.

When she gets her second case she is working all the time and is burning the candle at both ends and that normally doesn't end well for her. What she discovers during the second case though, could shatter what she thinks she has.

Now with at least three dead Juliet is racing to figure this out with the help of none other than Ryder.

There are so many layers and twists and turns in this book it's crazy. I always like the messes Juliet seems to get herself into. This is a good book. A good read.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 4th book in the series, and I must say, that I honestly enjoy reading these stories. There was a lot of action in this one! Loose ends tied up; new friendships formed. I didn't particularly like the last chapter (epilogue), but I suspect things will change if/when the author puts out a book #5.

It was good to connect with familiar characters & some new ones. The love saga continues with new twists and turns. A good mystery full of enough twists to keep you guessing until the end. While there are love interests in book, none of raw sexual scenes that make it into a lot books today, this is a refreshing breathe of air.

Will post a review on Amazon under name of Connie

I feel like these books are such a treasure! Full of bright characters, fun mystery and adventure. Every time I read a new one, I get excited and put aside all the other books I have ready to read to find out what mischief Jules is getting into next! The characters are just a delight and the stories are so well written and entertaining to read. They remind me a little of the early Stephanie Plum books and they continue to entertain. I haven't been disappointed in one yet! Please keep them coming and keep the fantastic will they or won't they with Pete continue!

LOVED this book! Each book in the Java Jive series is better than the last. In this novel, Juliet has gotten her PI license and is working part time as an investigator for her friend doing a simple investigation. However, with Juliet, nothing is simple or goes as planned. Before long, she's in the midst of several investigations and in handcuffs.

Juliet has complicated relationships with several men and involve quite a few twists that I didn't see coming. I particularly enjoyed her interactions with Ryder.

This is an entertaining novel that had me turning pages just as quickly as possible. Fans of the genre will love this book. While it is part of a series, it is a stand alone novel. However, the series is so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.
