Ruby’s birthname was Rosalind but she was called Ruby because of the red birthmark that started at the base of her neck and covered her right shoulder. Also her godmother was Grandma Mechi and had saved her and her mother’s life at Ruby’s birth. But people were afraid of Grandma Mechi Ruby thought Grandma Mechi was brilliant. Mechi had also offered to teach Ruby her knowing ways. When out in the forest one night looking for herbs. Then Ruby was faced with a large black wolf. His eyes looked like her stepbrother Rafe’s . But Ruby felt that people and animals didn’t have features in common. The minute Ruby had met her stepbrother Rafe she had loved him. Ruby was eight and Rafe was fourteen. Rafe became Ruby’s first and best friend. Ruby and her stepmother Gwen didn’t like each other. Rafe however accepted Ruby for who she was and the meant the world to Ruby. Rafe becomes attracted to Ruby but she is too young and Rafe goes away. For the last couple of years the lessons with Grandam Mechi had been the highlight of Ruby’s days. Several years later Mrs. Bisbu mentioned the Hawley boys seen a giant wolf and ruby wondered if it was her wolf but it wasn’t the right color. Than Rafe is back and Ruby is now a young woman and there is a mutual attraction.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, short, and enjoyable read, I loved the plot and the fast pace. The author took the Little Red Riding Hood type story and put a big twist on it and I liked it. I liked the spin on werewolves. I liked the backstory we were given for Ruby and Rafe. I really enjoyed the ending. I felt this was well written. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

Her Stepbrother, The Wolf, is the first book I have read of Kenley. With a title like that I was hoping for an interesting tale and I wasn’t disappointed. It was take on the classic fairytale Little Red Ridding Hood. In this reimaged tale, we meet Ruby aka Rosalind who has been the outcast in her own town. Ruby doesn’t mind she has Rafe her step brother as her constant friend and the wise woman of the village. So you can see easily who the key players are and the story revolves around these three.

However things don’t got exactly to plan and Ruby finds herself growing up with out Rafe after he disappears mysteriously . Until he returns and she figures out that she doesn’t have the same feelings as she did before. Her feelings have changed but this isn’t an ordinary romance. There is a history that can be easily forgotten and Rafe is a wolf ….

An interesting take on the classic fairytale. I loved what the author gave but yet I wanted more . I loved how she kept most of the elements yet added her own spin on the tale. The shifter aspect was a nice touch especially. I loved the shake up on the story but I wished certain things were explored futher. Like when they were younger and hat happened next. Otherwise it was a great introduction to this author’s writing and I enjoyed it.

Delightful and fun, Her Stepbrother, The Wolf is an interesting twist on the Red Riding Hood tale and one that I found quite entertaining. I just wish it had been longer as there's so much more I'd have loved to know. Good pacing and well written.

Red Riding Hood with a twist. Ruby grew up with a birthmark that made some of the villagers fear her as they believed she was cursed. Rafe is her step brother that has his own curse. This is a well written twist of Red Riding Hood told mostly from Ruby’s viewpoint with Rafe’s mixed in. I liked how the author took the idea of werewolves and gave it a spin. I would look for more books by this author as this one pulled me in till the end. I was given a copy of this story by NetGalley for an honest review.

What can I say? I like fairy tales. And when they get a hot and steamy twist: I'm not complaining...

We meet Rosalind, aka Ruby (named after the birthmark on her neck), who lives with her grandmother and her stepbrother Rafe. While growing up, Rafe was her best friend. But then he left and Ruby missed him a lot.

And now he is back. But Ruby has grown into a wonderful and sensual young woman. So, Rafe can't take his eyes (and hands) of his now-not-so-little stepsister. Fortunately for him the attraction is mutual. However, they will not get their happy ending that easily. Because there is still the fact that Rafe gets kind of hairy a few days per month. And what to think of that big black wolf, which is seen by the villagers?

A short and happy novel. Three out of five stars for me. Hopefully the next parts are a bit longer, so I can enjoy it even longer.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley this is a honest review. This book is a rework of a classic fairytale Little Red Ridding Hood. The author did not flow the normal story line but added their own spin making the wolf a werewolf and also Ruby's step-sibling. The story line was written well and was quite interesting. I would recommend this to others if they wanted a quick read.

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. Loved a different spin an old fairy tale. Ruby and Rafe's love story is well written and somewhat erotic. It is a good book and I would recommend thus quick read.

** spoiler alert ** Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read this for a honest review

I was hooked from the first page & the fact that it was loosely based around a fairy tale, even better.
The characters are strong & don't come across as a push over. I love the relationship between Ruby & Grandma Mechi its my favourite in the book. As for Rafe, well my imagination runs away with him!!
I did start reading this book late one night & ended up staying up until the early hours, because I couldn't put it down!

This is an entertaining fast paced novella, a twist on Little Red Riding Hood. Rosalind is an outcast in her village and taken in by the old wise woman and her now stepbrother Rafe. As Rosalind grows she begin to have feelings for Rafe and not ones of sisterly affection. Rafe has some secrets of his own. Will Red get the big bad wolf she wants? I really liked it, an entertaining, fun read.
