I loved Mika and Thibault. Their as opposite as can be. He's kind and caring and takes care of the people he loves. Mika is running from the Russian mafia and she just had a baby. When I first started reading this story I thought it was a rom com. As I got further into the book I soon realized that although this book has a lot of funny scenes in it, it by no means is a rom com. There is a lot of suspense and mystery to it. It takes some twists. The book is not loaded with a lot of Sex scenes. There is only one and it's a natural course to the book. I was entranced with this book and read it in one day.
I loved it. Couldn't put it down. Love the cover of this book and the story was amazing.
The story was great, couldn't put the story down . Lots or excitement, but loved the angst between the couple. Russian Mafia had not chances of intimidating the two main character in the story.
This one had a different feel from the others in the series, but I loved it just as much! These two had a few more obstacles, but I love it when a couple has to fight for each other!
2.5 Stars
I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the overall premise, an unlucky girl who gets caught up with the Russian mafia accidentally becomes involved with a man who could just help save her life. Right away there is a twist that added a good subplot.
However, I had some issues with this book. For one, I felt we were dropped right into the middle of the story when it opens up. I actually thought I had accidentally skipped a few pages when I started because of how it begins. Secondly, I wish that we could have had Thibault's POV. Instead we get a whole lot of Mika eavesdropping and that's how we "hear" his side of things or what is going on with him and his friends. This seems implausible because if he is such a good securities guy you'd think he'd be more aware of his surroundings and how his voice carries in certain areas. Also, how many times can one possibly eavesdrop?
I also felt there was a lot of unfinished business as far as the mafia plot line was concerned. It all just sort of tampers out. There are still questions and seeing as each book in this series is a standalone, this means we won't be getting the answers to what seems to be pretty important matters as far as Mika is concerned.
Lastly, and this is more of a personal preference, but I did not like the insta-love. I don't believe that in five days you can fall in love with someone, especially not when so much of that time is taken up by running and hiding. (Also, I found myself rolling my eyes whenever Mika and Thibault got mad at each other for not fully trusting the other. You've only known each other for days. It's ridiculous to believe you've earned that right yet.)
With all of that being said, I did enjoy it. I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but I did like the side characters and can see myself going back to read their stories.
As a last caveat, I wish there were more descriptors of the characters. I had a hard time seeing them in my mind as I had no idea what they looked like. Very little is said about their appearance.
Mika and Thibault's story. This is the fourth in the series, and although it has some fun parts it is not my favorite so far. Just didn't feel the energy behind the romance, and the Russian mob seems to be overdone these days. I liked the book enough to read it, and there are some good parts of course, but not the strongest in the series. Still, I highly recommend this series and author, and this book adds details to the series, as all the previous players are shown here too.
I love this book, she weaves a world you can instantly get lost into and I have to say that I am so glad I read her words.
Elle Casey’s latest book in the ‘Bourbon Street Boys’ series is ‘Wrong Turn, Right Direction’ and it was a 4 star read and a good addition to the series.
Thibault’s was a story I was looking forward to reading as I wanted to see him get his girl and the happiness the others had found. He is a loving, caring, protective but also strong man that deserves happiness.
Unfortunately I did find Mika a bit hard to take for part of the book although by the end she had grown on me quite a bit. She was wary of others and with good reason but it does come across as self centred and off-ish at times.
Overall another good read to add to the series and it was great to visit the Bourbon Street Boys again.
Action packed with a strong cast of characters, the pages flowed quickly and smoothly laced with humor. Mika is a sassy survivor, whatever life throws her way she just goes with the flow. An unexpected pregnancy while working for a Russian mobster buts her at the end of her rope but a wrong turn onto a one way street sends Thibault into her life. With his Superman complex, T. earns Mika's trust and teaches her sometimes its okay to ask for help. A sweet romance full of chaos with a surprising twist as Mika finds love and family on her way to her HEA.
The Bourbon Street crew is back and the latest book is an excellent addition to the previous installments in the series. I had so much fun reading Wrong Turn, Right Direction. I finally got Thibault's story and I loved it!!
Because holy freaking hotness!! I love Elle Casey's characters - they're always badass and off the charts sexy. Their quick wit and intelligence add to their overall packages - making them must meet characters.
Anyway - Mika works for a bad man and she knows it but until now she felt trapped. She knew the only way out would be in a coffin. So she decides to turn her boss into the police and hope that they can protect her. It leads her into a situation that is hilarious and unnerving at the same time. It also puts her into Thibault's orbit and despite her fighting it, that's a place she wants to be!
They have an uphill battle to get to their happily ever after and it's a bit frustrating. Mika struggles to trust Thibault and it creates unnecessary issues for them but it makes for wicked entertaining reading. They share an unbelievable chemistry and develop a swoon worthy relationship.
As with all of the other books in this series, I highly recommend reading Wrong Turn, Right Direction. It's a sexy, romance and a must have addition to everyone's library.
I'm usually a huge fan of Ms Casey (and her Bourbon Street Boys) but this story was a total flop. Neither Mika nor Thibault were written intelligently, but Mika in particular was *completely* off-putting. The beginning of the story, we're led to believe she's (quite frankly) dumb as a stump, trashy, argumentative, overdramatic, and exhausting. I actually empathized more with the poor nurses and people forced to interact with this train-wreck of a character than with her at all. Further in the story she evolves... a little... but still, highly dislikable. The deep and fuzzy feelings that Thibault apparently develops is questionable and without any sense of realism. Fail as individuals, double fail as a couple. I've actually never disliked one romance novel character so much as Mika; and Thibault was basically hostage to this horrible storyline. Sorry.
Book 4 in The Bourbon Street series follows Tamika Cleary (Mika), reluctant accountant for Russian mafia boss, Pavel Baranovsky, as she runs into Thibault Delacroix (literally), as she drives the wrong way up a one way street. The story was intense in places with some light fuzzy moments. Thibault becomes Mika's superhero. When Mika's circumstances change rather unexpectedly she has no choice but to leave her life behind and run. Luckily for her, she ran into the one person who could keep her safe, she just needs to believe in him. With the help of The Bourbon Street Boys Security team, Thibault promises to keep her safe and help her to finally bring down Pavel's empire . I've been loving this series and all the characters, however, I didn't warm to Mika, I found her harsh, untrusting and unrealistic. I know, I know, it's how she's supposed to be and that's how she was written. Her flaws, her negativity and her unwillingness to trust Thibault after everything he did for her just did not appeal to me. Realistically, if that was me, I'd have taken everything Thibault was willing to give and more, he was the perfect dream boy, I loved him, Mika's flaws just made Thibault's character too good to be true, how could he be so patient and understanding? Opposites do attract and they were definitely opposites, Mika the pessimist and Thibault forever the optimist, believing everything happens for a reason. Brilliant plot and great writing.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is another fantastic book in this series. This is the forth book in the series and they just keep getting better and better with each one you read. I just couldn't put this book down till I'd finished it. I think this is one of my favourites in the series. Amazing characters, which were perfectly written. Amazing story which flowed really well. This series can be read as stand alone reads but once you read one you'll want to read the rest.
Highly recommended
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
I love Elle Casey's writing, but The Bourbon Street Boys series has been a little hit or miss for me. Wrong Turn, Right Direction was in the miss category. I wouldn't say that it was horrible or that I didn't enjoy reading it, it was just missing something major.
Wrong Turn, Right Direction started out strong.Tamika is trying to get out from under her horribly corrupt boss and ends up in a medical situation that has her turning the wrong way and into Thibault. Thibault wants to do anything he can to help the beautiful and tentative Tamika get on the right side of the law, but first he has to get her to trust him. Tamika's background and current situation were very interesting and I wanted to know more about them. They made the plot of this story entertaining. I liked how Tamika's involvement with her boss worked meshed with the Bourbon Street gang.
Where the story lost me was the romance between Tamika and Thibault. I didn't feel any sort of connection between them at all. I know Thibault was there for Tamika during the most personal experience of her life, but I didn't feel an emotional connection made at that moment. Nor did I feel one later on as they got to know each other. Tamika was too reserved and kept too much from Thibault. I didn't understand how he could fall for someone he knew was constantly hiding something. She was so standoff-ish. Their relationship just didn't make sense to me. I didn't believe it. That was where this story failed for me. I wanted a stronger relationship for Thibault.
Despite not falling in love with Thibault and Tamika's relationship, I did enjoy the twists and turns of the story. I also loved seeing the rest of the Bourbon Street gang and hearing what they were up to. So, overall, Wrong Turn, Right Direction was a good read.
Wrong Turn, Right Direction
is another book from the Bourbon Street boys but was the least favorite. I expected more. Yes it got interesting plot interesting and good develop characters it is intense and keeps you on the edge what will happens. But it is also unrealistic for my opinion. Running with bad knee, not knowing about the baby. The Mika character is not very likable her way of thinking is for me just not my cup of tea. She is strong and everything but also naïve and clueless for some things... Big Tee falls real quickly and real hard for her and I don’t know why is for me this hard to believe but it was because how did they met was definitely all flower and roses. At least the story was not boring and we still have great inserts from previous characters that makes you laugh.

This was the first book that I read in this series and the first book i've ever read by this author. I thought the book was good, but it wasn't that great. I loved the main guy in the book. He was a nice guy, but he could also kick some ass and he was very smart and generous. The main girl, Mika is honestly what probably stopped me from giving this book a 4 star rating. I just did not like her that much and I tried and tried and tried. One minute she was warming up to him and being nice and then the next she would flip out on him and lock herself in a room and cry. It just irritated me how one minute she said she trusted him, but then the next she would completely refuse to give him any info so that he could help her out with her legal issues. I just wanted to shake her a little bit and say knock it off. I did feel bad for her though, she has had a rough life and she is definitely a survivor. I also understand that that is the main reason why she was having such a hard time trusting him, but it seems like she was never going to let him in. Other than Mika getting on my nerves like 90% of the book, it was pretty good. I love how T and his business partners/ friends are all so tight and like a family. It does have a HEA and it's sort of insta love. They meet a week ago and after all the crap they go through in that week ( running from the Russian mafia, betrayal, trust issues, and an unexpectant delivery of a baby -just to name)I kind of understand how it makes then form a connection and fall in love so quickly.
I absolutely loved this book! I started it and could barely put it down until I finished it. It grabs the reader’s interest from the first pages and just kept going. Tamika Cleary is caught up in a terrible situation forced to work as a bookkeeper or a villainous Russian mafia boss. She’s been keeping tabs on his financial dealings and is now ready to give the evidence to the New Orleans police and flee the city.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, her escape falls apart right away when she makes a wrong turn and hits handsome Thibault Delacroix as he’s crossing the street. He is a dream hero who realizes that Tamika needs his help as she’s gone into labor without even realizing that she was pregnant. Really? That was hard to believe, but just roll with it. Superhero hunk Thibault delivers the baby and then ends up helping Mika flee the Russian bad guy. The rest of the novel they’re spending time together and learning to trust each other. Thibault wants her to drop all her barriers and trust him, but he’s smart enough to realize that he has to back off and let her come to believe in him on her own. In the meantime, he teaches her out to take care of her baby while cooking for her and protecting her.
While he’s a dream hero, she’s prickly but smart enough to realize that she’s seriously mucked up her life with bad choices and doesn’t want to endanger Thibault and his friends.
For a suspense thriller, there’s not actually much suspense or thrills. Most of the action takes place off stage. But I really liked seeing these two people learn to trust each other and acknowledge their feelings while both fall in love with Mika’s baby. It’s all very sweet and made for an enjoyable read.
