It was easy to connect with Olivia, to feel her pain and devastation. She really had experienced more grief and sadness than most ever have to even think about. But she is a survivor, despite all the hurdles life throughs at her way she is succeeding.
Dr. Finn Gallagher certainly doesn't make Olivia's life easier but complicates the matters on all the fronts even more. Finn was a frustrating character, with all his assumptions and quick judgment he takes half truths and bulldozes ahead. It took me a long while to warm up to him as the hero of the story.
George is a character that I didn't know if I should have laughed or cried with her antics, obviously being fueled by the confusion of her situation and the resentment she could feel in the air.
Primrose Lane is a book three of Harmony Harbor series, and I once again jumped right in the middle of the events, and here it would have been a great benefit to have read the previous books in the series. The Manson and business problems, the rambunctiously loud family, the meddling townfolks, the ghost that scares the kids and saves the day with the cat, the mayhem, the chaos, even the unknown danger lurking around are all makings of part three of the family saga that had me laughing, amazed, and frustrated, as finally exhaling when all is said and done. The story is a roll-a-coaster ride of emotions, events, twists in the plot, and unique characters. So take a deep breath and dive in the fun, emotional, peculiar world of Primrose Lane
~ Four Spoons
In this latest instalment of the Harmony Harbor series, attention's focused on the enigmatic Dana Templeton and Dr. Finn Gallagher.
Badly injured when rebels attacked his hospital in the Congo while working for Doctors Without Borders, Dr Finn Gallagher is only back in Harmony Harbor to convalesce. He's frustrated his injuries are slow to heal but gives him time to notice Greystone Manor's long-term, enigmatic resident Dana Templeton. When Finn sees the willowy red-headed woman acting erratically, he's determined to help and understand why. Only the outcome makes him confront his own issues and questions his future beyond his recovery.
Dana Templeton knows it is only a matter of time before her secrets are revealed to everyone at Greystone Manor. Currently, she's also struggling to cope as an important anniversary looms. When Dr Finn Gallagher sees her acting strangely, he swoops in and suspects the worst of her. Taking matters into his own hands he makes it is a personal crusade to put her on the right track. However, as her true identity's revealed and secrets exposed, she's drawn to her protector, despite his resemblance to the man who betrayed her. Thankfully, she's not looking for a relationship with a younger man, is she?
I loved the early build up of Finn and Dana/Olivia's relationship. They dislike each other, yet attracted to each another too, making their interactions combustible and entertaining. However, as Olivia's secrets are revealed, skeletons come out of the woodwork and make life complicated for them both. The sub-plot is antsy and tugs the heartstrings, making uncomfortable reading as Olivia's past brings up even more heartache. Thankfully, there's plenty of humour to balance the proceedings as Colleen, Jasper and Simon's antics add respite from the drama. Plenty of other familiar faces too for those acquainted with this series, making this another enjoyable trip to Harmony Harbor.
Like the previous books in this series, Primrose Lane is standalone, however, with cross-over characters appearing in each novel, I highly recommend reading all the books in sequence to fully appreciate Greystone Manor and Colleen.

If you haven't read this series yet I highly suggest you immediately start because boy are you missing out on some great books! This is the third book in the series and reading it reminds me how much I love this series. This book has it moments that get the tears flowing, but it also has it's make you feel good moments. It also had me laughing. Some really good humor through out the book as well. Olivia, boy she does breaks my heart with having she had to go through. She's a character you root for right form the beginning hoping she gets her HEA because no deserves it more. She could be a bitter woman, but she has such a big heart. Finn may just be a little jaded so it clouds his judgement of Olivia, but soon she weaves her magic when it comes to the good doctor. I got so into this book that I was kind of irritated I had to put it down when life got in the way because all I wanted to do was gobble up this book.
Olivia has been keeping a big secret from her new friends and painful past she would rather leave in the past. When the day is looming and she is forced to come face to face with the past. Can she deal with the past and seek out a future with her ex's daughter, or does someone else have other plans? Finn is home recovering from an injury, if he can just stay away from Olivia he just might be able to get back to Congo and the work there. He is still dealing with the past and it seems his family has other plans for him. Can he heal and get back to being a Dr. or will his family get their way when his healing is in question?
I love this series. I really enjoy these characters, the family and close friends who seem to become like family. This book doesn't disappoint with Olivia dealing with a past and some secrets that she would rather keep in the past the author keeps you guessing on whats going to happen next. There are twist and turns throughout this book with both Olivia and Finn. I like (or I am assuming) how the author is already building up at the end for the next book. I did not like Finn at first but he quickly grows on you. I enjoy Colleen and Jaspers they are my favorite. There is some strong language in the book while minimal the book over all is super fun. The other thing I like about this book as well as the other books in the series is there is an element of suspense to the book its not the whole story line but there is something always brewing in the back ground, your waiting to see where that is going to come into play next along the way and keeps you guess in a whole other way. I can't wait for more from this author.
This is the 3rd in the Harmony Harbor series, and whilst you could get away with reading it as a standalone, there are characters and parts of timelines that to carry through the whole series.
I have enjoyed the past 2 book in the series, however I think that this has become my favourite. Those Gallagher brothers sure do know how to get those hearts afluttering.
This is Finn's story - the doctor who was injured whilst working with Doctors Without Borders.
I wasn't sure what to think of Finn at first. He was such a Judgey McJudgerso towards our darling Olivia, and for a while there, I really didn't like the guy.
But of course I knew Ms Mason would turn that around quicksmart. I could understand his want to get back out of Harmony Harbor, but could also feel the pull he had to the place.
Olivia - oh my goodness my heart broke for her. Repeatedly. Hiding in plain sight, she kept rolling with the punches that life had thrown at her - and I admired the heck out of her for it.
I loved that we got the players from the earlier books, snippets of their lives now, the ghostly manouverings of the Gallaghers great-grandmother, the bickering that families always have.
Whilst the storyline was a little predictable (but you know what you are going to get going into a Debbie Mason book) there were some twists and turns thrown into the mix.
The story is well paced, flowed seamlessly and drew me in from the first word.
Now I can't wait to see what Ms Mason brings use next.
**Will go live on blog and Amazon on release day **
A pull at your heartstrings story. Well written, interesting characters. This was the first in this series I have read. I will be looking for the others.
Review by Amber for Love Romance Books
Olivia escaped her past life as a Boston socialite and found refuge in small town Harmony Harbor, where she has been working as an event planner.
Finn has been working with Doctors with Borders for a while, but his grandmother wants him to settle down. She not-so-subtly has let him know that she thinks Olivia is the one for him, and doesn't care what he thinks about it. He rebels against the idea of being with one woman, but somehow Olivia is everywhere he goes. Soon, he doesn't want to stay away.
This was a cute book, and a good story. You can definitely tell this book isn't the first in the series, but it works fine as a stand alone. I would give this book 3.5 stars
I was asked by the author for an honest review.
Let the tears flow, the heart open and the healing begin. Primrose Lane takes readers on an odyssey of heartache and deep thoughts as it inspires, informs and engages. In an instant one woman lost it all. Her happiness, her family and her ability to believe, now one precious girl, a tenacious man and some meddling mischief makers may help her gain it all back. Ms. Mason deals with hard to take emotions through the eyes of Finn and Olivia. From sorrow so deep it shatters the heart, to taking risks on the road to a fresh start. The mark of a good writer is allowing art to imitate life and Primrose Lane puts that skill to good use as it offers encouragement and hope along the way.
I love Debbie Mason as an author. I wasn't disapointed with this latest book. It was so real and true to life. Unlike a lot of books that sugarcoat love. This book was real and i loved it for that
I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.
Primrose Lane by Debbie Mason is the third installment to the Harmony Harbor featuring the Gallagher brothers. This time it is Finn Gallagher, the brooding doctor recovering from his recent injuries in the Congo at the heart of Kitty and Colleen’s matchmaking. I have to say that I enjoyed this book! I planned to read just a few chapters and wound up reading the entire book in one sitting. This seems to happen to me every time I pick up one of Debbie Mason's books. The characters are well written, likable and relatable. Plus the dialogue and sweet romance is an easy read.
Olivia Davenport (known also as the mysterious Dana) is the other half of the matchmaking pair for this story. I personally had been curious about Dana since the first story. No one really knew her, only that she seemed to be hiding from something. What she is hiding from though is truly heartbreaking. Olivia is one of Boston’s elite socialites and mega-rich. But money can’t buy everything, a lesson she learned the hard way two years prior when her son died of cancer. Unfortunately that isn’t the only piece of heartbreak Olivia has faced, and now she chooses to self-medicate to numb her feelings and curb her anxiety. There’s only one problem with that: the handsome doctor sees right through her.
At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about Finn. He came off as the other Gallagher men had: judgmental and ready to leave. Yet the injuries he sustained in the rebel attack has forced him to extend his stay in Harmony Harbor, something he is just a little (really a lot) bitter about. He’s intrigued and a little worried about the mysterious woman his family has brought in. To him, Dana is just another addict looking for a quick fix, but her kind heart and doe eyes draw him. He finds himself wanting to help her and when he uncovers her secret, he knows there’s more to the story. A true doctor at heart, wanting to fix another patient, Finn winds up in over his head.
Character driven with an easy flowing pace, Primrose Lane reads like a real-life romance. Two people who get off on the wrong foot, antagonize each other to no end, and eventually realize they can’t live without the other. Is it predictable? Absolutely! BUT the story is so sweet and the characters pull you in to their story that I personally didn’t care. I enjoyed every word and as I already stated lost sleep to finish it in one sitting. If you enjoy contemporary romance, I highly recommend you pick up a copy.
Side Note: This book (as all the others in Harmony Harbor) can be read as a standalone. However I recommend reading the series in order to avoid any spoilers with the other characters that crop up in this book.
Olivia’s life has been one heartache after another, but what happened the day one little girl showed up in her life would throw anyone for a loop and send them spiraling even further out of control. The last person she expected to come to her rescue is the very person who has called her out on her weaknesses. He also has the potential to rock her world forever, if they both take that one leap of faith.
PRIMROSE LANE by Debbie Mason is one of those sweet romances that has hidden thorns beneath its budding petals. Pretty sure Ms. Mason has thrown in every bump, every heart-tug and made Olivia’s journey to happiness one of the rockiest roads ever.
Olivia is in crisis mode and has been since the events that pulled her heart out of her chest and replaced it with agonizing pain. Finn’s less than comforting bedside manner belies the compassionate doctor he is. His fear of falling in love, as well as his refusal to actually see it made me want to scream.
Heavy on the “Oh no, that did NOT just happen,” this tale is proof that love is an uphill battle and only the strong can survive.

The Harmony Harbor series is about the Gallagher family, heirs to the large hotel complex in town. When the matriarch Colleen died, her will stipulated her heirs be unanimous in their decision to keep the hotel in operation or to sell. They are not in agreement but with each book in the series at least one more Gallagher takes a position and it’s not always what they thought would happen.
Finn Gallagher is back in town convalescing from a terrible event before returning to Africa where he works with Doctors Without Borders. When he gets involved with the hotel’s event planner Olivia he also gets involved in her drama. Two years ago her only child succumbed to cancer. Some time later her husband was killed. She ended up in the small town of Harmony Harbor where she tried to forget about her past. When her past catches up with her she is faced with an impossible decision. Finn will need to make a decision as well – this isn’t what he was looking for.
Debbie Mason’s third installment in the Harmony Harbor series had me laughing out loud at some scenes and then quickly turning the pages as the drama played out near the end. I loved the physical comedy that went along with clumsy Olivia – very funny and well-written. I also enjoyed seeing characters from the previous books. There’s a bit of the paranormal in the series in that Colleen hasn’t crossed over yet. So she’s present to the reader but only certain other characters can sense her presence. It sounds a bit strange but I think it works. It all makes for an entertaining contemporary romance and I look forward to the next installment.
Although I almost always shy away from any book that has anything supernatural in it, I love this series. It was confusing at first as it had been so long since I had read the previous book -However, the story of Finn and Olivia was quite clear and most satisfying. even though at times, I was worried that all would not end well. Several nice twists keep the reader going.
I have read this entire series. While this book can stand alone mostly, I really suggest you read the whole thing for the back history. It is #3 in the series and well the series has sorta been a love it and hate it thing for me. I LOVE the characters. I absolutely do which is why I keep reading it. But the plots go off in these directions that I really hate.Which is why its hard to rate.
I loved Finn and Olivia/Dana. The first part of the book was fantastic. Finn and Dana have this love/hate thing and as he hobbles around time as she keeps reinjuring him, well I laughed at these two's hijinks. I really do love the characters and the authors sense of humor.
But then she (the author) changes the storyline like she did in the other two books and I hated it like I did then too. This would have been a great romance between Dana, a woman in disguise whose super rich and Finn, the doctor who likes to work with the poor. They have great chemistry and they are cute and funny together. Dana is getting over the loss of her son and her bad marriage.
Then the author adds in a bigamist marriage and a child that her husband had with another woman who looks like her dead child and now both the mother and father are dead and so she is forced to take care of the child. The child who is not cute and sweet but who is mean and mean spirited and looks just like her dead child.
It was bad enough in the last book that the author took the ex and made her pregnant with the heroine's child even though they were in love. Then she gave the ex cancer and moved the ex into town and made the heroine barren. It was pretty bad but this book tortures the heroine using a child and this could have been a wonderful story except watching someone suffer like this is not what I read romance books for. This is a story for women. Sometimes I think authors forget that. And watching a woman being tortured by the love child of her dead husband who was a bigamist and the child who looks just like her dead child. It was way too much for me to keep reading.
This book could have been great. The writing is wonderful. The characters are great. This should have been a fantastic book, except the author then changes the entire storyline and I would not have signed up for that.
MUCH improved over book two!!! I was a little apprehensive but I'm glad I jumped right into this one.
