I have really loved books by Tracy Wolff in the past and I am always looking forward to seeing what she comes up with. I have to say though that Down & Dirty is not my favorite book of hers. While I did like some things about this one, I also had some issues with the story.

Emerson is already getting off to a rough start when she finds herself running late for her new job and gets sprayed with water by a driver hitting a puddle. She soon realizes that the driver is none other than star quarterback Hunter Browning. Hunter is immediately drawn to her and wants her, so he sets out to hire her as his real-estate agent to win her over and help save her job. But can he convince her to give them a shot and take her off the market?

I have to admit there were times here that I really struggled with Hunter's character. He was so arrogant and cocky at times. He thought he was God's gift to women, and couldn't understand if women weren't falling all over him with the drop of a hat. Emerson was better, being feisty and strong. These two had a lot of chemistry and were super hot together. That was definitely the one thing that I didn't have any issues with. Tracy Wolff knows how to write some steamy scenes, and Down & Dirty definitely delivered on that. I do feel like when it came to the story and the characters though that things were pretty surface deep and I would have liked more.

Overall, this one was good but it wasn't everything I had been hoping for. While there were things I liked, it was just okay and I was left wanting more. If you are looking for something quick and sexy, you might give this one a shot.

Ahhhh, this book gutted me and left me swooning!! I freaking love Tracy Wolff!!

I went into Down & Dirty with kinda high expectations but not a whole lot of knowledge about what the book was actually about. I just one-clicked based on the author. What I found was a book full of incredible characters and a story to gush to all of my friends about.

Right from the start, you're endeared to Emerson. A recent college graduate and newly licensed real estate agent. It's her first day at her new job and nothing is going right for her.

A lot of her issues stem from her first interactions with Hunter the charming and cocky football star she meets outside of her new job. Everything between these two from that point on is just fun. Both characters are charismatic and engaging you fall in love with them right along as they're falling in love with one another.

If you're looking for a entertaining and engaging read with witty, smart characters Down & Dirty is the perfect read for you. Don't miss out on this hot romance - grab your copy today!!

Down & Dirty was a fun, sexy and quick read that was very enjoyable. There are emotional moments but also plenty of laughs to balance the story out. The romance between Hunter and Emerson progresses very quickly and I will admit that I swooned a bit as Hunter wooed her. Oh and did I mention it was hot and steamy? No? Well it is! As in super hot and steamy! Emerson is a strong female character which is something that I really loved. Hunter had his rough moments and there are some emotional aspects to his story and a few times I just wanted to smack him for his behavior. But, in the end, I fell for him and his sexy, alpha ways. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book

I absolutely loved this book! It made me laugh, it made me sigh from all of the romance and explosive heat and boy did it make me cry.

I loved both of the main characters because they both loved so hard. I loved that Hunter has a very true moment of emotion that steals your breath...leaves you in tears...and simply breaks your heart. It is not very often that you see a strong sexy man appear so broken and alone. Thank goodness the feisty and loving Emerson was there to stand by his side.

Overall a great book and a great job by Tracy Wolff!

I came for the cover I stayed for the writing. Fall in love with the quarterback as you get swept away in the pages of this 5 star read. Having never read Tracey Wolff before I was unsure what exactly to expect, but I was easily drawn into Emerson and Hunters story. Cute and sassy meets hot and Smexy what more can you ask for, nothing that's what! When it comes to this 1st book in Tracey Wolff's Lightning series there is nothing left undesired.

Hot football player Hunter has it all but tragedy is just around the corner and needing to prepare he is looking for a place to lay down some roots. The first thing he needs is a house which is were he meets Emerson and soaks her. Luckily for Emerson the soaking turns into a guilt trip that gives her the opportunity to make her first home sale and maybe fall in love. 5 stars.

This author always delivers humor and sexy times and this sports romance is no different. The journey ahead requires breaking through preconceptions and taking the time to connect. The story delivers.
Emerson, on her first day in her new job for a real estate agent, is urged by her Uber driver to "trust the universe" and if she only knew what the universe had in store for her.
This author always has a good story line and the difference lies in the telling, with lots of humor, sexy times and also great sorrow. Every emotion on the scale is engaged during the story.
Hunter "The Golden Boy" Browning soon discovers that there is more than meets the eye during his first meeting with Emerson, and he likes what meets the eye very much. He uses his usual charm, which hasn't failed him yet, to try to win her approval. No luck. He didn't become a big football star without persistence and he uses everything in his bag of tricks to ensure that he spends more time with her. Emerson has no time or emotional energy to deal with this cocky jerk but she desperately needs to keep him happy in order to keep her job.
Neither main character initially takes the time to learn to know the other and both will find that was a mistake. Hunter is much more than he seems and his life and career have taught him to keep his cards close to his chest.
There remains an opportunity to bring an additional dimension to the characters but a compelling story nonetheless.

DOWN & DIRTY - Tracy Wolff

FUN BUT WITH DEPTH - 5 stars

Plot - 5 stars - From the first page, the reader is treated to an entertaining romp, and it doesn't let up throughout. Emerson begins by being late for her first day of work, with multiple amusing episodes and what becomes her trademark self-deprecating humor. She meets Hunter when he accidentally splashes her with his truck just as she's entering the door to her office. He's attracted to her immediately, and he basically forces her boss to allow Emerson to be his private real estate agent. Things progress hot and heavy from there...

Writing - 5 stars - Wolff caught my attention right from the first page. She created such a sense of fun that I was immediately embroiled in the "drama" and couldn't wait to see what would happen next to this entertaining couple. Then she switched gears and added a lot of depth and angst to the story, capturing my heart as well as my head. The sexy scenes weren't too shabby either--really hot!

Characters - 5 stars - Emerson is so cute! She's intelligent and tries hard to succeed, and she isn't afraid to laugh at herself (and her situations). But there's an underlying sense of caring that really shines through and makes her very appealing. At first we think that Hunter is going to be an arrogant full-of-himself jerk, and he does have some of that quality. But he has a whole other life that is not the typical bachelor athlete scenario, and that makes him so much fuller and more interesting. They make such a great combination.

Title - 4 stars - The title shows how quickly the characters mesh together, being immediately attracted to each other and showing signs of beginning a relationship right from the first page.

Cover - 4 stars - Nothing wrong with looking at a sexy set of muscles. A little too typical of this genre, but pleasing.

Overview - 5 stars - Cute, light-hearted, fun. It started from the beginning and didn't let up throughout. Even when there were heavier moments, it only added to the depth of the story and the characters. Very entertaining, for sure, and my only regret was that it didn't go on longer. I'd love to learn more about some of the secondary characters if Wolff would consider making this into a series. I enjoyed every moment of it.

This story gripped because of the storyline and issues within it. I loved the characters, but the issue of losing a family member really made this profound especially because it was a male character dealing with the lost.

Hunter is a famous football player and a ladies man. He used to women throwing themselves at him. He is hard working, charming, loving and his heart is pure gold. The things he dealt with concerning his twin sister broke my heart. Seeing him feel helpless and really breaking down showed just how much of a heart he had and how he didn't let his pride get to him.

Emerson is a beginner as a real estate agent, but even so she knows her stuff. She works to please the client and help them find something perfect while spending the right amount of money. I absolutely loved her. She was driven, hardworking, snarky, didn't take no bs and went after what she wanted.

The romance, though insta-love, was beautiful. Seeing a woman go after the man she wants even when he is hurting and dealing with so much in his personal life was amazing. She didn't care for his money and he didn't care that she had none. I loved that they found a mutual love within art...just beautiful.

Totally loved and enjoyed this story.

I have chosen to DNF this title. I have a hit and miss relationship with this author, and I seem to either love her work or find the characters hard to connect with. In this case, unfortunately, it was the latter and I have elected to DNF this title.

I appreciate the opportunity to read this title.

Thanks,
Laura

It was a good read. The chemistry between Emersona and Hunter was definitely hot! But the story seemed rushed and felt more like a novella than a novel. I think the characters and the story needed to be fleshed out a bit more. I really liked Emerson's character......even though in the beginning she was annoying with her attitude. In the end she proved to be much sweeter and didn't let her own issues mess up her relationship with Hunter. She really did "stand by her man". All in all, a good read that I would recommend.

Tracy Wolff scores with this stand alone novel. Hunter and Emerson have some serious heat between them!

Emerson and Hunter were well matched and fun, but there wasn't a lot of unexpected plot twists or drama in this story. Was a fun and quick read.

This book didn’t turn out the way I hoped. It was incredibly fast-paced, excessively so in my opinion. The author didn’t take the time to develop the relationship between the characters, their connection was too instant to appear realistic. This story had potential, though, and I did enjoy Tracy Wolff’s writing.

Hunter Browning , a wealthy and famous quarterback, is looking for a new house. Emerson is a newbie in the real estate business, and yet Hunter insists that she is the one to show him potential houses to purchase. Emerson has a red-hot temper and Hunter enjoys pushing her buttons. Their interactions are a welcome distraction, he has a lot on his plate. His sister is dying and he will soon become his niece and nephew’s legal guardian, hence the need to find a new house. He tries to control his emotions, his heartbreak and anxiety about the future.

Emerson is insecure, she feels she is a nobody compared to Hunter and she is convinced that they have no future together, despite their intense chemistry.

Even though this book was just okay for me, it won’t keep me from reading any of Tracy Wolff’s other books.

3.5 Stars

Down and Dirty, was my first time reading anything written by Tracy Wolff. This is Hunter and Emerson's story, a sports romance of opposites attracting. Although a fairly quick read, I found it to be an emotional, steamy entertaining, and enjoyable read.

Hunter and Emerson's characters were intriguing, like-able, complex but in my mind a tad underdeveloped. Their story felt a bit rushed at times, and there were points along the story line that I thought could have been padded out a bit more, and the ending felt rushed. I enjoyed that this book is told in a dual point of view, and had elements of heat and humor.

I look forward to reading more of Ms Wolff's work in the future.

Ok, this book had a rough start for me, I was soooo close to giving up with it but I am soooo glad I kept reading because it got so much better. Hunter is a JERK at the beginning of this book (I’d use stronger language but then Amazon doesn’t like it and I don’t want to go back and edit my review) I was having a very hard time seeing how this character would improve he came off as a total self obsessed, it doesn't matter what happens so long as I get what I want Alphahole type character. It really appeared that he couldn’t tell his actions effected others and even if he did he wouldn't care, but he did get better, he got softer and we learn enough about him and the walls he puts up to protect himself. I loved Emerson though, she absolutely refuses to take Hunter’s crap, even when she’s forced into dealing with him and she’s wildly attracted to him and the sexual chemistry is explosive she has no problem. Speaking her mind to him. Once I got past the rough start and began understanding everyone’s motivations this book was amazing! Explosive chemistry, tender moments, heartbreaking tragedy and everything in between. IT’s a great read ad I recommend it. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

Don’t let the blurb fool you, Down & Dirty is not one of those books where the main characters have sex as much as possible and there is no plot other than the sex. Nope, there is actually a plot in this book and I was completely surprised by it. So any book that takes me by surprise automatically gets an extra star rating from me…..lol.

I felt awful for Emerson at the beginning of the book. I mean, her car breaks down, her Uber driver took forever, she gets soaked to the skin by Hunter when he pulled up in his car and then, the icing on the cake, she gets her boss mad at her by unintentionally taking Hunter’s sale away from her. So I don’t blame her for being kinda of a witch with a b to Hunter when they go out looking at houses. I think I would have said worse to him, to be honest. The ice did break when they went to that house with the erotic statues in the backyard and it broke in a huge way. And when I say broke, I mean she decided to get down on her knees and copy some of the statues….haha.

Hunter came across as a complete and utter jerk in the beginning of the book. But, as the book went on, he actually came across as a very stressed out guy. His sister was dying of cancer and he was scrambling to find a house for him, her, his niece, nephew and their nanny to live in before she passes away. He made a decision the day he met Emerson to have her show houses. Emerson’s boss, who was a witch with a b, wasn’t showing him the houses that he liked. He thought that Emerson would. What he didn’t expect was to fall hard for her.

I am going to admit that the sex scenes were kind of eh. I am not a huge fan of public sex and Emerson was being unprofessional by giving Hunter a hummer in the backyard of that house. She was on the job and those people could have come home at any minute. But, saying that, the sex they had after the gala was insanely erotic. I didn’t think that watercolors could be used like that. Honestly, I would be afraid to use any type of paints because I would be afraid of them staining my skin.

I did cry during the last half of the book. I could totally understand why Hunter did what he did and I gave mad props to Emerson for texting him every day…even when he told her to stop. This is the part of the book that I didn’t expect and I loved that the author took a step back from the sex and wrote a sweet story for the last half of the book.

I will say that the author did leave the ending open for other stories with the players from Hunter’s football team. If there is, I really can’t wait to read book 2.

How many stars will I give Down & Dirty: 4

Why: I am going to be brutally honest. This would have gotten a 3 from me until I read the last few chapters of the book. Because I got surprised and because of how the author wrote the last chapters of the book (see the review above), I bumped it up to a 4. In my opinion, the last half of the book made the entire book.

Will I reread: Yes

Will I recommend to family and friends: Yes

Age range: Adult

Why: Sex and language
