Tracy Wolff took a hot quarterback and paired him with a quirky real estate agent in her latest book, Down & Dirty. I like Tracy Wolff romance books because the heavy never outweighs the fun and sexy. In this book she's created two likeable characters who are compatible. Their relationship moves at warp speed covering the insta-love trope. The drama and conflict presented for the hero, Hunter, hits deep and is relevant but Wolff doesn't saturate you with it. There's hope and lightness to the story that makes it fun and satisfying. Emerson, our heroine, stands tall and proud in the story never relinquishing exactly who she is. I loved her sass and how she handled everything in her life from her job to Hunter.

Wolff's writing always engages me. And her characters always have chemistry. Down & Dirty simplistically tells a story of two people who meet and quickly become enamored with one another. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. There's not a lot of depth to the plot so I didn't feel an immense connection or emotional charge to the characters or story but I really enjoyed reading how these two characters came together and kept it together through the book. It's a great Sunday afternoon read or beach type romance read.

I liked the story and main characters. There was a good blend of humor and romance. I just wish the ending of the story wasn't so rushed. All the main drama happened in the last 20 pages.

Extremely fast paced and full of steamy sexy scenes. All Star Quarterback Hunter Browning meets newly licenced realtor Emerson Day on the first day of her new job. The sparks fly when he inadvertently sprays her with a puddle by the curbparking his truck. He's there to look for the perfect house to buy and ends up getting a lot more than that when he insists that she be the one to show him potential listings. Thanks to Netgalley and Loveswept for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I am a fan of sport romances and that was the reason I asked for this book but there wasn't that much about the sport in the book . The h seemed a little immature to be jumping into a relationship so quickly

Hunter makes a splash when he meets Emmerson... like literally its raining and since she's standing on the corner and he drives right by her well lets just say she rocks the wet T-Shirt look. Emmerson knows who he is and what he does immediately (which was refreshing since a lot of the times the girl has no clue the dude is a huge star). She also is NOT impressed. She's starting a new job, first day and she looks like a Frat Party reject. Hunter however, is intrigued. He's got some serious stuff going on in his personal like that Emmerson is going to have to deal with and he keeps her in the dark mostly. He's not real good at sharing emotions. Emmerson has a battle on her hands to get him to open up. Thankfully, she's the right lady for the job. This book had it all. I laughed, I cried (man did I cry), and I also had to go jump my husband cause the HOT factor is High!

Most novels portray sports heroes as alpha males and don't touch on their ability to need others. I found myself smiling, laughing, and at times crying as I read the story. Hunter and Emerson's chance encounter takes them on a whirlwind ride. While Hunter is a star athlete that's larger and in charge on the field, he is also a brother facing the impossible nightmare of caring for a sister with a terminal illness. Emerson understands Hunter, she listens to him and ultimately falls in love with him. However, no matter what kind of superstar Hunter is, he can't always fix things. Frustration, grief, and uncertainty threaten cloud his mind. I enjoyed this story. The characters and their emotions seemed real. A definite must read!

What started out as what I thought would be a typical sports romance story, quickly turned into a well written romance with heart that at times left me in tears. It had heart stopping sexual interactions, more so than I normally care to read, but it was so well done that it was so much more than erotica for erotica sake that see so many authors put into their stories.

Along with the sexual nature between Emmerson and Hunter, there were moments of a deeper connection and heart wrenching, tear evoking scenes that tore at my emotional center. The scenes were so well written, the dialog smart and fast paced, the humor was wry and quickly delivered seamlessly. All in all I found this to be a story that will stay with me long after I've gone on to read others.

This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

I am a big fan of this author but this was not my favorite. I feel as though the plot was too predictable and too easily resolved in the end.

Wonderful romantic escapism!! Story has a lot of heart and some sexy times. It was quite humorous when showing potential properties to sell they came across an interesting "garden". And for the heart of the story all I got to say is, damn cancer.

I loved Hunter and Emerson. Emerson didn't put up with any of his crap. He was a little shocked at their first meeting that she wasn't falling all over his famous football self. They were hot together. That garden of statues sounds like it might have been part of Elgin's marbles back in British history because they would cause a controversy. Hunter with all his cockiness and arrogance broke my heart with his love for his twin sister. It took too long for us to find out why Emerson was so afraid of water. Then the ending just felt chopped and then epilogue. I wanted there to be more.

Oh, but there are so many more hot football players on team Lightning for us to find out about. Maybe one could hook up with her friend Alice.

This is one of those stories you just don't want to end!! Different concept, which is always so refreshing !!! If I could change one thing??? I'd want the kids in the epilogue. This story definitely needs a novella for the next stages in their life together!!!

Tracy Wolff certainly has a way of writing steamy scene after steamy scene, though quite a bit of the book reads like a porn movie set, where characters meet perfunctorily and get hit hard by lust. Resistance (there’s a little of it), of course, is futile when constant penile erections and hardened nipples and wet slits suddenly take over.

The physical aspect of ‘Down and Dirty’ was never in doubt when Hunter zeroed straight in—from the very first meeting—like a panting dog in heat on Emerson, as I wondered if this book could better be classified as erotica than contemporary chick-lit. But I lost count of the number of ways he imagined her in all the sex positions, her lips doing dirty things to him and so on, up until the point where I finally decided that Hunter was a bad bet all around, led around mostly by his dick (and posturing a lot with it too), with copious amounts of dirty descriptions dedicated to how much he liked Emerson’s sexy body. And because Emerson is more special than his numerous one-night hookups, he has to relearn how to ‘woo’ a woman, which in his book, means loading her with lavish gifts that his wealth affords him.

Apart from Hunter's concern for his ailing sister, I was inclined to think he was generally a classless act with mood swings and obscene excess (as is typically written of the lifestyle of the superrich), crude but bland, yet cockily arrogant with very little character depth. His rationale for only having hookups was that his mind was already full with his family problems, yet there was no issue diving into this routine with Emerson when it suited him. When things took a turn for the worse, he pushed her away in the nastiest way possible, unable to deal with the overwhelming emotions—all typical alpha male behaviour that still surprises me with its stupidity at times.

And while Wolff certainly portrays the grieving process well, I couldn’t get over his callous treatment of Emerson, almost as though grief gave him license to be an idiot around others. I didn’t think very much of Hunter at all at the end as a result, especially since it felt as though he merely used Emerson as a bandage slapped over wounds, or that he was with her in a bid to keep a part of his life from spinning out of control.

Emerson fared somewhat better in my opinion, standing her ground against him, though you do know her issues will crumble under Hunter’s oh-so-experienced, superior touch. From there (and it’s just a week!), the falling in love bit came easily...perhaps too easily for me. She’s nevertheless, somewhat more multifaceted, with deeper perspectives and an more unshakeable sense of compassion than Hunter's tunnel vision on women, football and his sister, which made me wonder just how much he really deserved her.

I tried to enjoy this, I really did. I did like how the introduction of an dying sibling gave the story more gravitas than a contemporary romance would have, though I’m not quite convinced yet that it’d helped shaped the pairing out to be a more solid and believable one that successfully weathered a storm together, because they didn’t quite do so. So unfortunately it didn’t quite work for me as I prefer my stories with a bit more narrative and character depth. But if getting hot and bothered is your primary goal, then ‘Down and Dirty’ would be it.

What a great story! It's a quick read that still give you all of the feels!

The hero, Hunter,is a famous football player who needs a new house NOW for the worst reason

The heroine, Emerson, is starting off her first day at a new job at a real estate office, she running late, her car won't start, the uber is late and some jerk soaked her when he drove through a puddle (it was the hunter)

I really enjoyed the witty banter between these two characters, even though Emerson knows exactly who Hunter is, she still doesn't just sit back and allow him to get away with soaking her and then being condescending about it.

Hunter is known as a player but I'm glad you really don't see evidence of this in the story, you don't see ex conquests making appearances, he nevers comes off like he's just interested in a hit it and quit it situation with Emerson, he is genuinely interested in her.

The big conflict that causes is a problem is something tragic, no cheating and for once it is the heroine fighting to keep what she wants!

Super sweet and well written!
