Thank you for approving me for this title! However, I unfortunately was unable to download/read this book prior to it being archived on Netgalley. I hope to read and review this book on my own soon, and hope to read other books from this author and publisher. Thanks again!
I enjoyed how our mn character teaches ballet to kids in a wheelchair. the romance was nice a great weekend read to curl up with and drink some tea or cocoa .
DNF this one... too many problems for me. Too much insta love, not believable story line at times. The ending was cliffy and set up for an entire series.
So I don't really have a lot to say about this one. It wasn't bad.... but it wasn't good. It's romance novel and I should have swooned when reading it. Nothing. No swooning for either character. It's pretty insta-love and that's usually a turn off for me. I like that build up between the characters but there was really none of that here.
This story captivated me from the first page to the very last. I had hoped it wouldn't end in a cliffhanger, but at least book 2 is out now.
sweet, the blurb is catching. I think I didn't connect to everything but I still enjoyed the characters, just maybe not as much together
Forbidden dance was sad and beautiful. Broke my heart then repaired it.
For the past 4 years, Livia has been living in isolation. She was unplugged from the outside world and it's " bad influence on her. She was homeschooled but finally was given the chance to seek an escape from home when her father allowed her to learn ballet and teach at Dreamcather where she teaches ballet to little girls in wheelchairs.
Blitz was on a reality show similar to bachelor except he picking his dance partner and possibly a wife. He does something to disgrace the show Dance Blitz. So, he was kicked off his own show. Now he here in his home town helping teach different classes to show he is reformed and learned his lesson.
Livia wants to hate him but she can't. Just one look has her taking the risks be damned the consequences. Once he is near all she can think of is more time to sneaking into back rooms, dancing, kissing, planning dates away from the cameras and just being together. Livia has a secret and a father who would never approve.
I really love this book. It ends with a cliffhanger, which has me dying to read the next book. I love this book I read it cover-to-cover. I fell in love with the characters and their story. I really love Blitz, he's a complex character but I can feel his feelings for Livia. When their together, they are magnetic. These two have Chemistry that Sparks the page. I can't wait for the next book one click it now!
While I enjoyed book, I probably wont continue the series, because it ends up being three books, I do get tired of those, however the book was good. The book kept you invested in this couple, they did not love each other from the beginning, which I appreciated. Poor Liv committed a mistake when she was younger, and was still paying for it, her parents were horrible. The only thing they allowed was dance,. She meets Blitz, a disgraced reality star, who was trying to fix his image, and as she tries to fight her attraction, she ends up giving in, and love affair begins even as they try to keep a secret. So what happens next?
wow! i was not expecting to feel so many emotions reading this book. My heart hurt for Livia. I wasn't too sure about what I thought about Blitz at first but he was fantastic. This was a wonderful romance and I can't wait to read more in this series!
i did not enjoy this book. the adoption situation seemed like something out of the last century. also, its hard enough to believe in love after three weeks for mature adults but for a teenager its just ridiculous. the hero seemed to have no real redeeming qualities and the heroine seemed to be missing a big chunk of the whole situation when she was fifteen. apparently there are five (!) books in this series but i have no interest in continuing on
Not every book is for every person. I personally struggled with this story. It just moved at a snails pace and was just not believable for me from the beginning . I have never read this author before and would still like to maybe read something else by her because I truly believe that she is talented. I gave it 3 stars for a few reasons, 1. The characters had potential, 2. I did like the backstory of the characters. I always say read the blurb and read several reviews and then go from there.
I'm a sucker for anything involving dance. So I was super excited to get my hands on this title. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment with this book. Livia was passive, annoying, and just got on my nerves. And I couldn't get past the name Blitz. I mean, really? The idea behind this book is great, but the execution just isn't there.
What happens when a youthful indiscretion makes moving on and breaking free seem impossible? Hidden from the world by her father, Livia's only escape is dance. When TV bad boy, Blitz Craven, walks into the dance studio, Livia knows her life is about to change. Will she be able to break through the walls around her and embrace the forbidden lure of Blitz? Readers will be drawn into the story and anxiously turning pages to find out what happens. Definitely recommend.
Actual rating: 3.5
Forbidden Dance was a quick and easy read. I haven't read anything by this author before but I was drawn to this book by the cover and then the blurb.
In general I liked this book. It had some angst, teenage rebellion combined with bigger issues, reality TV, and a celebrity. I thought blitz and Olivia were good together. They worked well and although there wasn't a full on spark, I did feel a connection between them--especially when dancing. While things did move a little fast, I enjoyed their relationship.
As for the plot, it kept me engaged. I sped through this book, but I did feel certain elements were unnecessary or not developed fully. For example, Gabriella. I didn't see the need for her to actually be in the book. She didn't add much, and the plot surrounding her didn't really go anywhere or become fleshed out. It fizzled out towards the end where other more prominent threads took over so I was left slightly confused as to the point of her being there if nothing was to happen. I also thought there could have been a few more chapters before the epilogue so the ending wasn't as abrupt.
While this book says it can be read as a standalone, a part of me doesn't really believe it. Sure, things are mostly tied up, but getting to the end I find out Blitz and Olivia are going to have 4 more books to their journey. A part of me feels this might tie up and go into more detail on the aforementioned undeveloped sections so I'm reluctant to say this is a standalone if there are so many more books planned.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. I'm intrigued to find out what happens next.
Livia and Benjamin have an instant connection.
Livia grew up shadowed by her father, being homeschooled and begging to dance ballet, now she's a teacher of ballet at Dreamcatcher dance school teaching young disabled children.
We also get a shock early on I won't spoil but at nineteen she has a lot of responsibility. Her best friend is Mindy, who is sixteen and an approved friend by her parents.
Blitz Craven was host of dance reality show, Dance Blitz. It had very racy performances and was alike TV show the bachelor. He's twenty six to Livia's nineteen and right from when they meet, there's heavy chemistry between them.
Livia and Blitz meet up a lot in the store room at the dance studio, a dark room they can hide away in together. Please be aware that this book does contain mature content and therefore read only if you're older than eighteen as it is a new adult fiction not young adult fiction.
I personally love the story of her being from a conservative family but we see she grows more daring throughout the book, showing that love wins over all obstacles despite Blitz returning to LA, he comes back to her and all I can say is I'm so hooked.
This book is part of a series and yes, I've added it to my kindle to buy wish list!
Thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review the first book in what is set to be a daring, adventurous series.
