Love this one... Love everything about it. Val and Logan may seem an unlikely pair on the surface because of their differences in lifestyle and geography, but that may not stop them from trying to turn attraction into something more meaningful. Val will get some valuable research time in if nothing else, and she is long overdue to break free of the stereotype she usually dates. What will happen if one or both of them want to trade attraction for HEA?

City girl versus Alaska. An interesting premise and one that I was looking forward to.

Valentine French lived in NYC off her trust fund, shopped like it was an Olympic sport and wrote a popular blog about dating and being single (much to the chagrin of her family). And when she finds herself down with her dating life, she lets her cousin book her on an open-ended trip to Alaska to see if those Alaskan men are better that what she was used to. Of course, nothing goes the way Valentine envisions but it may just lead her to Mr. Right after all.

This book and I fought a little as I read it. I loved Logan Burke. He was the hot cop who loved his life in Alaska, yet refused to settle down with any one of the willing women throwing themselves at him. So I didn’t really see what the attraction was to Valentine, other than she was beautiful, that kept him seeking her out. I got it after awhile, but I just couldn’t see Logan with Valentine long term.

There were times when I found myself exasperated with the characters. Why did Valentine once again find herself in a mess (she was a modern day Lucille Ball with some of the things she got herself into). Why did Logan keep rescuing her? Why didn’t either of them consider something long-term, even if they both though Valentine was going to eventually leave? Why was Logan so quick to believe someone else about Valentine instead of asking her himself? These things bothered me and ended up making this a book I simply liked, rather than loved.

The story was cute and I did find myself laughing out loud at some parts, but the frustration I felt with these characters far exceeded the goodness. Others will love this book, but I found myself asking why they were together rather than hoping they figured things out.

Reluctantly, I have decided to not finish this title. Sawyer Bennett is a favorite of mine, but for some reason, I just couldn't relate to the hero in the story. I found him a little shallow and I didn't think he reacted realistically. I have been putting off sending the feedback, as I kept thinking I would come back to it and love this book, but I have not been successful.

I appreciate the opportunity to read the title, and I am looking forward to her next book.

Thank you,
Laura

I think I should create some kind of “Review Form” for Sawyer Bennett books, where the only difference would be the title of the book.

Because I always love the blurb, the writing, the characters, the angst, the sex, the humor….

Sex In The Sticks is another great reading; I started the book yesterday and finished it a few minutes ago.

I just wished it had been a little longer (which is a good sign).

The city girl / country boy opposite attracts were so good, I just love Sawyer Bennett’s male characters!!!

Logan will make you swoon, and Valentine was so out of place in Alaska but at the same time, she taught us some good lessons about adaptability, acceptance and kindness.
And the rest of the characters were lovable too.

Just grab this book and enjoy it, it’s Sawyer Bennett after all, it only can be a great romance story!!!

After this infamous tweet bashing about Romance genre a few days ago, I’m so glad and so proud to be a part of the readers/bloggers community in general, and Romance readers in particular.

People, read what you like, share your love about whatever you’ve read and enjoyed.

You’ll surety enjoy Sex In The sticks, and personally, I can wait for the next book in thr Series, Jilted!

Sexy and sassy in the wilds of Alaska…

I LOVE this author and I LOVE her stories - and this was no exception! Be ready for a “fish out of water” story that combined laughter, love, and quirkiness with heart.

At first I had a hard time connecting with Val. On the surface, she seemed so shallow, sharing her experiences in the sometimes crazy, never boring when she tells it, world of dating in the big city. That first impression changed, however, with the sweet, sexy and sometimes off-the-wall antics that was dating in small town Alaska. At least for Val and Logan, anyway.

Logan’s first impression on the other hand was everything I could ask for. Strong and quiet, he is the type of solid confidence that Val deserved. He fit right into the colorful town even as he balanced out the crazy with his steadfast approach to all the zaniness. The local wildlife was quirky (aka hilarious) and that definitely included all the unique, two-legged characters that inhabited the sleepy little town.

I laughed and swooned through it all as sexy encounters were hot and funny, making me snort on more than one occasion! It rubbed and hit the funny bone with equal enthusiasm.

“I totally deserve more jail time, just for the vomit alone.”

With heat between them that would melt snow in, well, Alaska, their love story was funny and quirky and, by the end, oh so satisfying… Love may hurt but this will help heal the wounds… -Diane, 4 stars

Sawyer Bennett is always a yes, no matter what and while I'm a huge fan of her hockey series, I gotta say her standalone novels have been amazing thus far. She's a queen in contemporary romance, always giving the right amount of laughs, angst, romance, and steam.

Sex in the Sticks was a breath of fresh air for romance, literally and figuratively. Light. Sweet. Steamy. Sexy. Funny. Witty. This small town romance will definitely steal your heart and have you wanting to come back for just a smidge more.

Who knew her dating column would lead her to Mr. Right... even if it is a bumpy ride to get there.

Valentine and Logan were both fantastic.... amazing chemistry and undeniable passion. both Both of them pulled me in... Logan, sigh, dreamy in every way and Val was great and very relatable. Their story was sooooo good... perfect, a good balance of story, steam, and drama.

You can never go wrong with a Sawyer Bennett book!

I highly recommend this read.

This caught me so off guard. I was not expecting lumberjacks, loggers, a sheriff, and a tiny dog.

Valentine was so refreshing in her mindset. She is so independent and aware. That is a nice change from other stories lately. I do not blame her for being so sick of all the metro men in her life, I would have been as well. Taking a break and visiting East Merritt may be just what Val needs.

East Merrit's chief of police/Mayor Logan Burke was not expecting to drive Val into his town when she got off the plane, but he did. He also did not expect to like her or want to share his life with her. But that is exactly what happens.

Sawyer gave me a story I needed. I needed the laughs, the love, and the romantic suspense.

This is such a great start to this series.

Valentine French write a blog called Valentine's Couch, wherein she talks about dating, and various other things that tend to embarrass her wealthy family. She is very close to her cousin, Jeremy, so when Valentine gets sick of the New York City dating scene, Jeremy books her a trip to Alaska, where she can see the difference in dating an Alaskan man versus the metrosexual men in Manhattan that she has been dating. Val hops on a plane with her small dog, Sassy and the adventure begins.

This social experiement does not start out well for Val. She is not informed by her cousin that this is not a 5 star resort town and problems begin when she lands in Alaska. The Chief of Police, Logan, comes to her rescue.

Since there are not a lot of women, Val becomes the talk of the town and starts right in on her dating. She blogs about each date, but when she goes on a date with Logan, things begin to change, but she still blogs about her date, in detail. Logan has saved her butt on more than on occasion and he begins to fall for her, but when Logan finds out what Val is really in Alaska to do, things go south quickly.

Sawyer Bennett is one of my new favorite authors and I devour her books. She always write a funny, heart-warmingly endearing book and I know there will be some laughs thrown in for good measure. This book did not disappoint.

OMG this was one seriously hot book. The chemistry was awesome and the sex scenes were just perfect. Not that Sawyer doesn’t normally nail it but I actually had to fan myself a few times while reading this and since privacy was so minimal I actually had a few moments where I did the look around because I was sure everyone in 100 metres had to know what I was reading.

I went into the book expecting not to like Valentine very much. I mean she is a spoilt, rich, socialite who is going to Alaska to run a social experiment on the men there. I figured she would be shallow and uncaring. Luckily for me I was way off and I loved her. She was quirky and despite being a lot of the above she was sweet and caring and I found myself actually rooting for her to get her happily ever after.

Logan I loved about 80% of the time. He had the whole possessive, dirty talking thing and I really loved how he was with Valentine but when things didn’t go his way he acted like a dick and I just wanted to smack him. I mean seriously dude twice you flew off the handle without getting any information then sulked like a two year old. Not attractive. But then he would make amends and be so sweet and awesome I would get over it all pretty quick.

The secondary characters were great and I can’t wait to see where this series is going to go.

Everything I've come to expect from a Sawyer Bennett read. Sex In The Sticks is a real feel good, heart-warming romance read. Bennett is supremely skilled at getting her readers to fall head over heels in love with the characters she creates. This one is certainly no exception

What a quick and funny read from Sawyer Bennett and a great start to her new Love Hurts series! It reminded me a bit of Stephanie Bond's Baby Don't Go with the blogger/writer angle, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The opposites attract trope was very well played and the sex scenes were the blazing glory that I've come to expect from Sawyer. While I found Val to be a bit condescending, I really enjoyed Logan (I'm a sucker for uniform wearing alpha males). I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series and gave Sex In The Sticks 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

Sawyer Bennett is a relatively new author for me. This is only the second book of hers that I have read. The first was Sugar Daddy (Sugar Bowl #1) which I really enjoyed. So when I requested this book on Netgalley and got approved for it, I was super excited! I mean come on! Love freaking hurts and who wouldn't want to read a series like that?

Going into this book I didn't have very many expectations. All I knew was the guy on the cover was freaking gorgeous and so my type. Since I'm from the South, I also assumed that "Sex in the Sticks" meant it was going to be a super country story.

Unfortunately I was let down in both of these aspects. The description of the guy in the book doesn't match the guy on the front, but I preferred to picture him like on the cover anyways. Also, this book was set in Alaska. No where near the "country" atmosphere that I was expecting. Sadly.

Even though what initially interested me in the book didn't turn out to be true, I still really really enjoyed this story. So much so though I have signed up to participate in the blog tour for the second book in the series called Jilted. This will be a series of standalones, if that makes any sense.

The most entertaining part of the book was reading about Valentine's prissy, NYC elite self vacationing in Alaska. She had no idea what she was signing up for when she let her cousin plan this vacation. Luckily for her, she had a sexy sheriff (who was also extremely single) there to show her the ropes. And by ropes I mean, save her life a few times and earn a very "special reward".

If you've read any of Sawyer Bennett's books, then you already know she can write a heck of a sex scene and we get quite a few of them in this book as well. I really enjoyed the fact that there was enough light-hearted scenes to balance the very sexy scenes. It was a very nice balance.

As with every romance story there is a big falling out between Valentine and Logan. But it was not anything like I was expecting. I grew extremely frustrated with both of their stubbornness and unwillingness to let it go! Seriously, the reason they had a falling out was so stupid! I figured Logan would be able to get over that. To be honest, I knew that's what the falling out would be over. BUT I didn't expect Logan to react the way he did. I was literally screaming at him to GET OVER IT ALREADY!

I was so strongly team Val and Logan that I did not like them being apart! But everything turned out just the way it should have (in my opinion at least). They are so cute together! I loved reading their story!

The more I read this review, I keep thinking to myself "then why do you feel it only deserves 4 stars" because all I've done is pretty much rave about how great this book was. If you look at my reading progress below, you will see it took me nearly TWO WEEKS to read this book. It NEVER, EVER takes me that long to read a book. I was really struggling with this book at first. I really want to blame it on having a book hangover from the two wonderful book I read previous to this one, but I'm just not sure.

This book and the story was seriously great and I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to read it. (And I already have a eARC of Jilted that I get to dive into next month!!!)

This fantastic and highly entertaining book is the first in the Love Hurts series and it features Valentine French and Logan Burke. These two are complete opposite's. The New York and Alaskan lifestyles are completely different. When she was blogging about the differences in the men and Logan specifically, I thought she went to far in detail but I also think Logan took his overreaction too far also. When you injure a man by embarrassing him in front of his friends and family, it's a big deal. She was remorseful and tried to right her wrongs but with a stubborn man it's going to take something drastic to change his mind.

The characters in the story were fantastic. The writing was fantastic also. Keep the fan on because this is another HOT one! I can't wait to read more from this very talented author.

Love lost in NYC? Love found in Alaska?

Valentine French a NYC dating columnist is finding it hard to write her column. She is looking for some beefy men and NYC is the land of the Metrosexual's! Looking for inspiration, Alaska is calling.....men outnumber won 15:1, great odds and lots of new topics to cover....

Logan Peters, Sheriff of the little town Valentine now calls home is a bit different than the boys she is covering in her column.... One date may not enough for him. Will Valentine be able to see past her laptop, high end lifestyle to see what is in front of her?

Well written, a feel good romance with a dash of sex in the sticks!

I love Sawyer Bennett, and this book did not disappoint! Valentine and Logan had me laughing, and cringing, and crying. The Valentine grew as a person, through this book, and you can see it. I did not want this book to end. The characters are fresh, the premise, while not new, was filled with the authors own spin. I absolutely felt like I was part of the story, and that is what is important at least for me. This story is told in alternating view.

Being a big fan of Ms. Bennett's and especially her Cold Fury series, I was thrilled when she announced this new series. "Sex in the Sticks" is a feel good tale that has a Hero and heroine that I adored. Logan is a super sexy Hero of course, but he's so much more. Definitely book boyfriend material in my book. And Valentine, well, with each page I liked her more and more. Although I didn't always agree with her choices and decisions when it came to her blog. However, that was about the only thing that made me go, hmmm. I loved the characters - main and secondary - and I loved the location of the tale, too. Ms. Bennett's writing style is fluid and easy to follow. She includes some laughs and heartfelt emotions throughout. I would certainly recommend this one, and I, for one, look forward to the next book in the series. (received copy for honest review).

I devoured this one. I can already tell: main characters Valentine French and Logan Burke are going to be as unforgettable to me as Moira Reed and Zach Easton. The sexy factors were through the freaking burning roof. BTW, one caveat: I was listening to Amy Lee’s “Love Exists” when I was reading thru some portions of “Sex In The Sticks.” I laughed. I cried. I almost stuck my nose to my e-reader while reading sexy parts. So, maybe Amy helped me visualize Valentine and Logan 1,000% better? Don’t know. But this much I know: THIS. WAS. EVERYTHING. Kudos, Sawyer!!!

Sawyer Bennett is about to take you on another wild adventure, this time to the Alaskan wilderness.

Sex in the Sticks is the first standalone book in the Love Hurts series, and boy did she start the series off right!

Valentine French literally has it all, but the one thing she can't seem to get her hands on is a good man. Since they seem to be in short supply where she's from, she decides to take an adventure to Alaska in the hopes of finding out what she's been missing back home. Valentine is way out of her element in this story. She's all city girl, and her antics when thrown into the great outdoors will keep you both amused and intrigued about what's going to happen next.

And Logan Burke? I don't know what to say about him other than WOW!!! This man is the perfect book boyfriend. Not only is he smart, funny, wickedly sexy, and VERY well-endowed, he's also Valentine's hero in so many ways. And did I forget to mention he's a police officer for the small town Valentine finds herself in?

There's no shortage of entertainment in this book, and you're gonna fall in love with Logan and Valentine. I highly recommend this sexy story.
