Review:
First how could I resist a book named Buck Naked...lol
Seriously though I read the description is what drew me in. That and I had been wanting to read this Author for awhile seemed like the perfect storm of opportunity. I enjoyed this first in a new series. I liked that it was a little unique from other shifter stories. First, only a few women (Juvies) can rejuvenate and become younger again and be a mate for a shifter. This causes some interesting, fun and scary scenes for Sadie as she has no idea what is happening. Second, I liked that the shifters are pre-historic animals, this gives a new twist that was fun to read.
Like I said before this is the first time I am reading this Author and I loved her writing voice. The story had a great range of sexy, heart, and action that made me hooked from page one. I saw that Sadie's twin Sam is the next one up in the series, which make perfect sense after reading this first book. Sorry I did not give more of the plot away, but you should read it for yourself if you like shifter romance.

Tales From The Heart ~ Leanne's blog review from NetGalley
This is the beginning of a brand new series by this author and I can't wait for the next one. I'm a fan of Shifter and other paranormal novels and this one is a winner.
Sadie is new to town and weird things start happening to her, her body is growing younger and the townsfolk are acting strangely around her. Her neighbour Mathis tries to avoid her but the connection is growing. Once she finds out the truth, things start heating up for her and her sexy neighbour. Her sister comes to town and I'm hoping hers is the next tale.
The shifters in this series are a little different to the norm making for some eye opening revelations.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
I've had a few problems with this author in the past, so when I was approached to review this book, I agreed to do so with a fair amount of trepidation. I am very pleased to say that this story completely blew me out of the water!
I found this to be a very unique take on the shifter sub-genre of Paranormal romance, a genre I really don't read much of anymore. There wasn't much world building done early on, so the reader is just as clueless as Sadie is, and learning things when she does. I found that to be a interesting way to draw the reader into the story. The focus wasn't on sex in this book, though it is discussed often. I thought that the relationship was the real focus, and how they wanted each other, despite the hurts in their pasts that made them wary of doing so.
The characterization was very believable. Mathis was a great tortured hero, both loyal and protective. Sadie came off as slightly clueless the entire book, but I think that was intentional and logical, because of what was kept from her knowledge. I also like seeing the townsfolk and Sadie's sister Samantha, and would love to see a book featuring Samantha!
Overall, I was really impressed by this book! It kept me interested enough to stay up entirely too late reading it, and brought me to the point of being a fan of the author. I will definitely continue on with the series and would purchase a Kindle copy for myself as well!

This one came as a surprise when I opened my e-mail. Since I have a copy of her "Brides of the Kindred", ~which I have not started reading, I was quite curious of how this author writes. I got a real treat when I opened this book.
The first scene of chapter one where Mathis and Sadie saw each other really made me laugh. My
3 year old daughter had to tell me, "Shuu", because I was laughing so loud when I imagined the scene. Up to now as I write this up, I can still imagine it.
What I love about this series, is the way the "Lore" was the origins was really well develop. I mean. I was like wow...
As the first book of the series, this a a pretty good start. The "Lore" is establish, and even the town's origin was introduce. I would love to know more about the place and how the "mayor would find his mate.
I look forward to the second book of the series.
I want to have this Regeneration gene! To go back to my 20s, body magically restored, then an alpha destined to be with me... who wouldn't want to live on Cougarville!
I can't wait to read book 2, coming in June.
Buck Naked by Evangeline Anderson
Cougarville #1
Book one of this new shape-shifter series sees Sadie Becker becoming younger after moving to Cougarville. Recently divorced and forty she suddenly looks and feels more like twenty and has men swarming around her. Little does she know that her genetic makeup is the culprit but as men swarm around her, fight over her and she learns more about her situation she soon learns that she must mate to survive but WHO will she mate with?
This is a quick read that has potential for many books in the future. The next book will probably involve Sadie’s sister and the feline alpha she did not end up with.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

What a brilliant idea - imagine moving home and waking up not only feeling but also looking half your age - stretch marks, wrinkles, saggy bits all gone! That’s what happened to Sadie Baker in this story, the first in a new series by new-to-me author, Evangeline Anderson. This is the first story in a new series and had me laughing out loud. Sadie Becker is turning forty, has recently divorced and, as her twin offspring move to college, she’s moved to her Mother’s old home in Cougarville, NC. The move includes setting herself up in business and the strain of moving to start afresh is having an astounding affect on her - she’s no longer looking forty, instead she looks more like she did at twenty years old! That’s not the only surprise. She accidentally parades naked in front of her neighbour, the resident of Cougarville seem to have weird reactions to her and something strange is definitely going on as the men seem overly attracted whilst the women are hateful, spiteful or downright rude! She can’t imagine what is happening or why.
This story has a great range of characters, from Sadie and Mathis to the lady who runs the local pharmacy/chemists to the town Mayor, Sadie's sister and many others, too. There are a shifters, the Moon goddess, myths and beliefs to be discovered in this hilarious read which I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances with great twists. I’m not going to type anything more as I’ll end up giving spoilers and you really need to read and enjoy this for yourself -I can't wait to read more in the series!
I requested and received a copy of this story via NetGalley and this is my honest review after reading it.
Sadie has finally changed her life. She has sent her twins off to college, divorced her cheating husband and moved far away to a small town in the mountains where her mother left her and her twin sister a house. The only problems are that her body is suddenly changing to what it was 20 years ago, her next door neighbor Mathis, a huge hunk, is extremely rude and dismissive and, the people of the town are treating her either like she has the plague or is the hottest female they've ever seen!!! What is going on here? Mathis keeps saving Sadie from all the town crazies. The town pharmacist, who Sadie thinks is a witch, keeps giving her cryptic messages that she doesn't understand and everyone keeps calling her "Juvie"!!!
I absolutely ate this book up! I did not want to put it down!!! Most paranormal books are pleasant to read but, it's impossible to really step into those scenarios. This book was totally different!
You REALLY need to read this book!
Ok, a 40 year old waking up one day looking like she is in her 20's again??? Yep, I'm sold. How do I make this happen?
This was a unique approach to an overpopulated theme. I love the idea that an older woman wakes up going through a rejuvenation stage once her shifter gene kicks in. All I can think about is how I would do a lot of things different if I can turn back time and start over and Sadie is getting that chance.
Sadie is fresh off a divorce and moves into her mom's cabin in Cougarville. She wakes up to changes to her body and reactions from the town folk that make her feel like she's in the Twilight Zone. Sadie has no idea that she carries this shifter gene. She's new to town and doesn't understand why all the men in town are looking at her like she is their next meal and the women are outright hateful towards her.
The reaction of the town folk towards Sadies new scent was pretty comical, especially since she has no idea what's going on. I loved both main characters in this story as well as the side characters.
My only negative about this story was Mathis's constant refusal to the idea that Sadie was meant for him.
Mathis has had a life mate who sadly passed away not long after being mated to him, over ten years ago. He believes his kind is not allowed to mate more than once and constantly refuses Sadie. While I understand he was trying to not hurt her, it wasn't the only reason he held back. His dead wife was a big part of this story.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story and it was a fun read with a little bit of seriousness to it. ARC provided by Netgalley.

Well, don't I wish I'd woken up on my 40th to perkier boobs, tighter butt and no grey hair. Sod the Pandora, chocolate and perfume, perky boobs for the win.
"...his kind mated for life and he wasn’t about to forget his wife and his love for her just because she’d been gone for a while."
I grabbed Buck Naked totally based on the blurb and the fact that I am fond of a shifter romance. And whilst Sadie and Mathis were likeable characters with a push/pull chemistry and a story which started out well and showed promise, as it progressed it began falling into the underwhelming category as it lacked in terms of depth and development. And then there was the intimacy and dirty talk.
"Love to fuck you and fill you up. Love to come inside you and breed you."
Now I like a dirty talker as much as the next person but I have to be honest here, that really didn't flick my switches. Let's just say some things are better off left unsaid.
It wasn't a difficult read, it just could have been much better which was a shame as there was potential. That said I have been left curiously tempted by the next book.
I have read all of Evangeline Anderson's books, this one is my lest favorite of them all.
Okay I freaking loved this book! Totally unique storyline and I love, love, love having a 40 year old heroine! There are plenty of curvy BBW heroines but what about us middle age gals? We need some loving too! Well have no fear ladies, Evangeline Anderson has our backs with this series. The idea of a dormant shifter gene that kicks when a woman hits late 30's to early 40's ONLY if they aren't already in an established relationship (no leaving significant others or children) is absolutely fascinating. To have your body change back into how it was in your 20's? Wow! Who wouldn't love to have that happen? But, all those changes come with a price. A rejuvenated (aka Juvie) woman needs to find an alpha to mate with before the next full moon or she will die. Sadie can't believe the changes that her body is going through nor can she understand the over the top reactions the men in Cougarville are having to her.
Mathis broke my heart. He lost his mate 10 years before and because of what kind of shifter he is, he believes that he can never form a mate bond with another woman ever again. But because he is an Alpha he can restrain his impulses around Sadie, just barely so he takes her under his protection to try to save her from the unwanted advances of the other shifters in town. He is drawn to Sadie and the more time that he spends with her the stronger his feelings become for her. Let me tell you, these two struggled hard for their HEA. Sadie, because she had no clue what was going on and Mathis because his animal is only able to mate once in their lifetime.
I loved the whole premise of the story, the world building was fantastic, the characters were well rounded and engaging. The romance was sweet and sexy and I loved the fact that the author used prehistoric animals for her shifters. Great start to a intriguing series! I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Helllllo, Cougarville! I must say that (some) of the perks of moving to this town (if you're the right type, that is) are FANTASTIC. And then there are some that aren't so fun. Like how most of the men get a little...unhinged when someone like Sadie walks past.
As a Juvie, Sadie's rare and completely unaware of what she's gotten herself into. She has a neighbor she is more than a little attracted to and NO CLUE why the men in town are suddenly going gaga over her. Her neighbor, unfortunately, blows hot and cold. Her unique scent makes him crazy, but he's convinced he's already had his chance at love and he'd only be putting Sadie in danger if he follows through on his desires.
Needless to say, they have a few tense moments whenever they cross paths.
Figuring out the ins and outs of her new lease on life leads to some sexy times. On the down side, there's also some danger. Since Juvies are so rare, they're highly coveted and there are some out there who will do anything to get their hands on one.
Good thing Sadie has a big, strong buck to stand up for her. YOu know, once he gets over his hangups.
As an aside, I REALLY liked the animals the shifters turn into. These aren't your run-of-the-mill shifters, that's for sure!
Finding her body suddenly perking up after her divorce and move to Cougarville ( as the locals called it) made Sadie a little curious, but discovering that the town she's moved to suddenly seems to hate her and the men all seemed to be giant hornbags got her a little worried, discovering the man who was her next door neighbour was in fact an ancient buck shifter who she had the hots for... well then it all got a lot strange.
Ms Anderson takes us to Cougarville, where everything is not as it seems and a little magic and lust goes a long way. Mathias is one of the town's Alphas and all he wants is to be left alone and not be entranced by hs beautiful and sweet smelling neighbour, especially as the local medicine woman pills are not making his rut go away, but when he discovers she may be in danger and be pulled under the spell of another Alpha he finally takes the leap to save his woman and give into their bodies cravings.
A fun, read, which I went through quickly. Easy to relate to characters and secondary characters that I'm now curious about, this start of a series is a must read. My thanks to the publisher and Net galley for giving me a chance to read this arc, which I've voluntarily reviewed.
Ok so I've read a ton of shifter books and yes they are fun but you know what? It's really hard to find something fresh and completely different . Well this book certainly grabbed my attention because it's a mature heroine (hurrah) and there's a completely original almost prehistoric slant in the origins , oh and the shifters are anything but boring! In fact I don't recall ever reading about a guy who shifted into a supposedly extinct Irish Elk! Yes this Alpha Buck truly surprised me.
I don't wish to discuss the plot too much but Sadie is a twin with no idea that when she retreats to an isolated town she's about to come face to face with a world of paranormal creatures. Add in the fact that she's one of them and it makes for some very interesting confrontations. I think that was what really tickled me as Sadie had no idea just what was going on and why everyone freaked out the way they did. Now add in her somewhat grumpy neighbour Mathis and Sadie really is confused. Mathis can clearly stand on his own and won't be pushed around but the author made him a sweet, sympathetic character . His ( eventual!) interactions with Sadie allowed the reader to understand his worries, his loss , his hesitation but fear not as Mathis is no slouch and comes through for this woman who needs a whole lot of loving!
Yes it's an erotic story but honestly the author didn't just pile in lots of titillation to get her readers hot, no there's an interesting idea here that's fleshed out. I really enjoyed the comedic side of it as poor Sadie is so out of her depth at times. Best of all is there's clearly a character waiting in the wings who needs taking down a peg or two and I strongly suspect that fur will soon start to fly!
It's always hard with the first book in a series as so much world building has to be laid out. Obviously with this one there's the lore surrounding the shifters too however the romance came through strongly and for this reader it was a heart warming ending that truly satisfied my romantic soul.
A copy of this book was provided for me which I've voluntarily read and these comments are my own honest opinion
Buck Naked is a truly promising start to the Cougarville series. The story is well paced, and I enjoyed the character dynamics and interaction. I look forward to reading more by this series.
Sadie Becker is starting over, mother of twins who have gone off to college and now divorced she has moved herself to Cougarville, NC. It doesn't take long for Sadie to notice she seems to be aging backwards, at forty she has grey hair, sags in places she doesn't want and crows feet, they are gone though and she can't figure out why. Her new neighbor Mathis is anything but friendly to her and when she goes to town to get a feel for the town, she is stuck by the treatment she receives.
Sadie doesn't understand she has moved to a shifter town or that she is changing for a reason. Mathis made a promise to his wife who passed and he doesn't plan to break it, but he is feeling an overwhelming attraction to take Sadie of his mate. Will Sadie be able to change Mathis's mind to take her as a mate before it's too late?
First in the Cougarville series. This was a unique take on shifter stories and I don't want to reveal too much as to what is going on with Sadie. The story set the tone for future books and am anxious to see what happens next. Mathis was intriguing, he is gruff initially because of his past and you understand why. Great book, always love an Evangeline Anderson book.
Great beginning to a new shifter series by a great author. She's written plenty of hot sci-fi romances and this is just as great. It his the brooding alpha male and his new neighbor, who just wants start over. 40, recently divorced and with two kids in starting college, Sadie just wants to start over in a new town. But for some reason her neighbor ignores her, the locals seem to have an issue with her and the only person friendly if a strange older woman. But things can only get better right? Not soon enough though.
Story contains some mild violence and a few hot scenes. If you like shifter romances, then you will enjoy this new series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book I received through NetGalley.
Full review to be published online in April.
BUCK NAKED is the first book in Evangeline Anderson’s new “Cougerville” series. (Double entendre intended). Mathis lost his wife ten years previously to cancer; and promised that he would never bond with another ever again. He keeps to himself and likes it that way. All this changes when he finds he has a sexy new next door neighbor, and a need inside him starts stirring to life. Suddenly his world has turned upside down.
Sadie has recently inherited her mother’s house in the quiet small town of Cougarsville and decided to set up shop as the local accountant. At the start she can’t understand why everyone is so hostile with her or why the men in the town seem to have lost their minds and want to seduce her. That and the fact her body seems to be rejuvenating to her youthful body she is confused and ready to leave town. After one accident too many Sadie learns the truth about Cougarsville, and what is happening to her. She barely believes that she could possibly be one of these rare juvies the townsfolk are talking about; but is forced to believe everything when she is left standing in front of Mathis in his shifting form.
Mathis and Sadie fight their growing desires for one another, but deep down know the attraction is far more than lust alone. Eventually, Sadie is locked up by another shifter in the hopes that she will give into the desires of the moon, which are calling her to mate as part of being a juvie.
BUCK NAKED is a cute story, one that will leave you with a smile on your face. Good start in what looks to be an entertaining series.
Sadie Becker is not herself. A 40-year-old, divorced mother of two, Sadie wakes up one morning and realizes that she looks and feels like she did in her twenties. Suddenly she’s unable to walk around in her new town of Cougarville without men falling at her feet. Confused and alone, Sadie isn’t sure who to turn to…except answers to her problems might reside with her broodingly handsome reclusive neighbor, Mathis.
An alpha shifter, Mathis lost the love of his life, and he knows he’ll never find another mate. But his innocent new neighbor clearly doesn’t know the danger she’s in, and he's the only one who can save her. But when the attraction pulls too strong, will Mathis’ animal nature be unleashed and claim Sadie for his own?
Sadie wakes up on her 40th birthday, looks in the mirror, and can’t believe how she looks. She looks about 20 years younger and she’s a bit freaked out by it. She starting a new job so she has to get to town. She’s just got divorced from her cheating husband and moved to a cabin in a town fondly called Cougarville by its residents. Her mother left the cabin to her after she died but neither Sadie nor her twin, Samantha, knew anything about it.
Her first day in town doesn’t go exactly as she thought it would. No one will serve her, they keep calling her “Juvie,” they act like she’s got leprosy and they keep kicking her out of her businesses. Someone even slashes her tires! When she ends up crying on her hot neighbor’s porch he eventually explains that everyone is calling her “Juvie” because she’s got a shifter gene in her that makes her someone who rejuvenates when they hit anywhere from 40-50 years old. They are the only ones that can breed new shifters and they’re very rare. Apparently her mother was one as well and now all the men want her and all the women hate her because they’re not a juvie as well. Sadie is stunned by this news but soon handles it with aplomb – probably because she gets to get naked with her hot neighbor, Mathis. Unfortunately the mayor of Cougarville, Liam Keller, wants Sadie for himself and he’s not afraid to play dirty to get her.
Buck Naked was a cute erotic PNR. Anderson put a nice twist on the whole shifter/mating thing which made things a little more interesting. What also made things different in this story was the fact that all of the shifters in Cougarville shifted into animals from the Paleolithic era (yes, the Stone Age). We only got to read about Mathis’s Irish Elk and Keller’s cougar which was more like a saber-tooth tiger. I’m sure there were other animals in town but I have no idea what they were.
Sadie was a sweet woman but was more than clueless when it came to the town. I wouldn’t have put up with the town’s shit they were shoveling out but she just kind of ran instead of getting answers. Mathis was great to her and I loved how he cared for her when she needed him.
Mathis was a good man. He had been married before and loved his wife. He has sworn to after she died that he would never take another mate and hadn’t been with a woman in 20 years. He tried his best to stay away from Sadie but found himself falling in love with her. It happened quickly but it was still cute.
Overall a good start to a paranormal series. Of course there is A LOT of sex in the story because it was an erotic romance. Anderson always writes good sex scenes, that’s for sure. If you want a quick, sexy read then grab this one.
