I had a hard time with The Dangerous Billionaire. I loved the premise of the story when I read the blurb but then had a hard time getting into it.

Van was an Uber SEAL. He came off as his way or no way throughout the whole story almost to the bitter end. He was overly protective and was living in the past. He totally confused me with his treatment of his brothers. He didn’t know how or didn’t try very hard to connect with them.

Chloe had me a little confused. She starts off angry and defiant and refusing to share her true feelings. She feels alone and miserable and refuses to listen to Van as he tries to protect her. Instead of coming to terms with feelings about the truth from her past, she tries to run, puts herself and Van in danger and then gets upset with him as he tries to shield her from the danger. All the while, holding on to a memento that does nothing but destroy her.

Unfortunately, I could not feel a connection with the story, the story-line or the characters. Lucas and Wolf, Van’s brothers, were, and still are, a mystery to me. I guess there will be more about them in the coming series. Flashbacks to when they were young were repeated several times. At times, the story contradicted itself and had me wondering what really happened. I am still not sure if the problem was truly solved, if Chloe is really out of danger. I was disappointed because I thought Chloe’s “memento” would hold a little more significance in the story and Van never told her about his reminder of the past that he held onto. There were just several unresolved issues, several questions that were not answered. I felt angst throughout the whole story until the end and couldn’t feel the “happy” in the story at all.

But, this is just my personal opinion of The Dangerous Billionaire. It definitely had its moments but, overall, I just couldn’t tie this story together.

I liked this book and the characters. I also very much liked the set up of the story. It did drag a bit at the end and I had trouble finishing it.

Commander Sullivan “van” Tate hated a lot of things about NYC but Leo’s Alehouse wasn’t one of them. Especially and he and his two brothers discharged their foster father’s -Noah- ashes from the Brooklyn Bridge. Noah was a oil tycoon but he had three foster sons. He would have loved his sons holding at wake in honor of him at a military bar. It would have appealed to the rebel in Noah. all three brothers were Navy Seals Van being the oldest and Wolf the youngest and there was Lucas. Wolf had taken his father’s death pretty hard and was looking for a fight but Van managed to talk some sense into him . the media would have the fight all over the place and that wouldn't be good for the Tate name. The were all raised to do right by the tate name. The boys all even went into the service at eighteen. The media is looking for anything concerning their father and them as Noah had died under mysterious circumstances. Van was the head of the Tate family now. Getting things on lockdown until the situation had been handled was now his job. Lucas was a sniper in the Seals and he was one of the most controlled people Van had ever met. Noah had been the first one to adopt and give the three boys a proper home. He hadn’t been particularly loving at least not to van but he had been a father to them. Even if he wanted more from Van than he could give. His death had still been a blow all three brothers had never seen coming. The brothers had all been in the military ten years nowe bit would have to get out and do their duty by their father. Their fathers lawyer had handed van an envelope and inside was Noah’s last will and testament and then there was another three envelopes with with each man's name one for each. Now van handed his brothers their envelopes he had not even read his. Inheriting his father vast fortune and Tate Oil all fell on Van’s shoulders now. His brothers were both on the board of directors also. Every since Noah adopted them- Van had been eight- he had been very clear that the purpose of all the boys was to protect the Tate legacy. Van was different since the Columbia incident where Van messed up and a woman lost her life. Van had than decided to stay a seal instead of joining Noah at the helm of Tate Oil. Noah hated NYC and he hated being stuck behind a desk. In the military he had loved the danger and the thrill of the armed services. Also the comradeship and loyalty of his team. Chloe went to NYC to meet with her oldest foster brother Van , it had been eight years since he ha been to the ranch. He just stopped coming there. She wouldn’t allow herself to think about her father. She found out after the funeral the ranch she loved and had managed for the last few years hadn’t went to her as her father had promised Van got everything. Chloe was angry but also grieving. She had grown up on the Tate ranch, had spent her entire life on it and for the last ten years poured everything she had into it. Wyoming and the ranch had given Chloe everything she had ever needed. Van had been left with the task of protecting Chloe from her unknown real father -Cesare de Santis who had been Noah’s long time enemy. He now had a plot for revenge and also the family secrets Chloe needed protection and Van was to provide it. Van’s not happy being away from his team or about being in charge of tate Oil. Chloe had always had a crush on Van even though she was ten years younger than him. Van had paid attention to Chloe when she was younger when he came to the ranch unlike her cold foster father. Now she is with Van again there is a strong sexual attraction between them. Van worried after costing the woman in Columbia her life that he may not be able to protect Chloe.
I enjoyed this book. I really liked the success and drama in this book. I liked Chloe and Van together but he needed to get himself together. I felt this was well written. I liked the pot and pace of this book. But I do think it was brought up way too many times Van being a Seal. We know that. There are some unanswered things in this book like why van stopped coming to the ranch eight years ago. I don’t like the lies and deceit Noah said and used to his foster sons and daughter. I loved the characters and the twists and turns of this book and i recommend.

I didn't really care for this book. I just couldn't get into the story, I was able to read maybe half of it before I just couldn't go any further. The book seemed to be very repetitive and left a few questions that were never answered for me. I typically enjoy this authors books, so maybe this one was an offshoot of her typical writing.

I feel like I need to take a break from romance books. I haven't really liked many of these typical run-of-the-mill books. This one wasn't much different. Honestly, quite a few parts of this one were a little creepy. I get that the two characters aren't related, but something about the relationship history just didn't sit right. This one was another flop for me.

The first book in a new series by author Jackie Ashenden. Has the Tate brothers inheriting their father’s oil empire after his death. All three brothers are also Navy Seals and do not want to be concerned with running the oil company. When all three of them are given envelopes two of the brothers leave the oldest one Sullivan alone starring at his. Reading that his foster sister needs to come to New York and to be protected because she is in danger. Chloe Tate has been living on the ranch in Wyoming and is now running it. She is also pissed that her father gave her nothing, and her three brothers got everything, but more importantly Sullivan the oldest got the ranch as well. Being summoned to New York has just pissed her off more and when Sullivan begins to order her around like one of his underlings she fights back. Especially since he want explain what is going on. The secrets that he revels to her one shock her and two does not surprise her. She realizes that together the both of them must work together to fight against the person that wants to take them down. There is of course love scenes which are hot and there are fighting and other action going on. Having read this author other books this book falls in line with some of those and be prepared for a wild ride. A good opening book.

Loved this book filled with secrets, action, danger, suspense and love. Love the Tate brothers and looking forward to reading Lucas’ and Wolf’s story. Love how the characters are referenced from The Billionaire Fairy Tales series. Recommended read.

Let me start by admitting this is my first book by Jackie Ashenden's novels, and I will forever be a fan. The Dangerous Billionaire left no emotion untapped and no stone unturned. I give it a five-star rating. I found this story to be emotion-packed, suspenseful, and addictive read. I loved the steam that Ashenden has in her story.

The Dangerous Billionaire is the first of three novels featuring the Tate Brothers. The brothers are Sullivan (Van), Lucas and Wolf--the adopted foster children of billionaire oil magnate Noah Tate, who also had a daughter, Chloe, and this novel is Van and Chloe's story. I am sure you are thinking "Didn't you just say, foster children?" I did, and now you will have to read to enjoy it as I did.

The three boys joined the Navy and became SEALs. Chloe grew up mostly alone on her father's Wyoming ranch. Chloe was closest to Van, who was ten years older than her. Van taught her to ride, and she both idolized as a child and crushed on as a teenager. Although he used to come home regularly on leave. Van has been gone without so much as a word for eight years. That all changes when Noah Tate dies, leaving letters for each of the boys and none for Chloe. Noah repeatedly told that the ranch was Chole's and, as we learn, that was not the only lie he told.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This was a very dark read for me. It was definitely twisted. First thing, you have to overlook the fact that the two main characters are foster siblings. This story is a twisted read it moved well but just wasn't a huge fan of the dark world the author made. I like happier books.

Sullivan "Van" Tate, a Navy SEAL raised among the New York City elite, prefers heart-pounding action over a Wall Street corner office. But when his adoptive oil tycoon father dies and leaves Van as heir in charge of Tate Oil, he is less then thriller. Add in the additional task of protecting his adoptive sister Chloe and he is left struggling to do the right thing.

Chloe wants to know why her father gave Van everything, including the ranch she has been living on since birth in Wyoming. Her only hope in keeping the ranch is if he relents and deed the property to her if she follows his instructions and travels to New York where he will be waiting for her. She heads to NYC, to confront her adopted brother and to convince Van to give the ranch over to her only to discover there are endless amounts of secrets that she has never been told.

Chloe simply can't deny the burning attraction she feels the moment she locks eyes with Van. Chloe, a decade younger, has always had a crush on Van. Both were raised completely separated from each other and had a distant childhood. I did have a hard time with everything coming together with the speedy reveal at the end. I also found Chloe to be a bit childish and have major daddy issues.

Then there was Van. He was always so negative about everything and kept trying to push Chloe away. The endless bickering added with their childish and immature behaviour just gave me a headache in the end. Van's not happy about being away from his unit, that he's left in charge of Tate Oil, and also that he's been left in charge of Chloe. Neither character had any depth, their behavior and actions were beyond irritating, and lacked real chemistry.

It was an overall dull book to read.

This is Van and Chloe's story. "The Dangerous Billionaire" finds Chloe on a ranch in Wyoming, and her three adopted brothers, all whom were raised among New York's Wall Street, and currently Navy Seals, sorting out the mess of the Tate empire following the death of their father. Sullivan 'Van' Tate becomes the heir apparent to head the Tate empire, but all is not as it seems. Mix in daughter Chloe, who leaves the ranch and comes to New York, the drama and suspense begins with a lot of secrets being revealed. There is a bit of darkness to the story, but for me, it gave more insight to Van's feelings about his past and his present situation with Chloe. The action is fast paced with the drama woven throughout the book. It keeps the reader turning pages to find that HEA for Van and Chloe. I enjoyed this one greatly and look forward to reading Lucas and Wolf's stories as well. I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for gifting me "The Dangerous Billionaire". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4.25 Stars!

I had a hard time getting into this novel. I just didn't care enough about the characters. That mixed in with the fact that Chloe seems to get over her anger with him very quickly, it didn't feel all that realistic.

What did spark my curiosity was at the very end of the book. [ On the last page it states that '[h]is brothers had made their thoughts on her and Van's engagement pretty clear, and it didn't look like they were going to change their minds any time soon,' which makes me wonder what that conversation would have been like. They obviously really care that he's gotten together with their adopted sister. Are they very against it? Are they just worried about how it would make the company look? It isn't mentioned in this novel. I'll have to hope that it's addressed in the next.

Van and Chloe are an interesting couple because they are step-brother and sister but also because they spend most of the book running away from a villain... without really knowing if they are in fact a villain... based on lies that were told by someone who is no longer around to question.....

So was the story well written.. yes because Jackie Ashenden is a great writer ...but I can't get into books where people are running from something or someone and there are no reasons that support that fear.

Let me start by admitting that I've become a fan of Jackie Ashenden's novels, and in The Dangerous Billionaire she left no emotion untapped. For that reason, it gets 4.5 stars from this reader.

The Dangerous Billionaire is the first of what I can only assume will be three novels featuring the Tate Brothers, who are, Sullivan (Van), Lucas and Wolf--the adopted foster children of billionaire oil magnate Noah Tate, who also had a daughter, Chloe, and this novel is Van and Chloe's story.

The three boys, all adopted from the same foster home, were sent to boarding schools, and as soon as they graduated, joined the Navy, and became SEALs. Meanwhile, Chloe grew up mostly alone on her father's Wyoming ranch, since he was seldom there, off to attend to his business interests. Of the three brothers, Chloe was closest to Van, who was 10 years older than she, who taught her to ride, and who she both idolized as a child and crushed on as a teenager. Although he used to come home regularly on leave, he's been gone without so much as a word for 8 years, but that all changes when Noah Tate dies, leaving letters for the the boys, but none for Chloe, whom he repeatedly told that the ranch was hers--and, as we're soon to learn, that wasn't the only lie he told.

In his will, Noah made Van the primary heir to the oil business, the ranch and everything else. He doesn't want to leave to leave the SEALs, but one of the stipulations in the will is that the existing board of directors of Tate Oil are to be fired, and the brothers are to take their place. Lucas and Wolf aren't happy about this turn of events either and storm off. Chloe is utterly devastated when she learns that she isn't even mentioned in Noah's will, at losing the ranch she so loves and which she was promised would someday be hers --and unbeknownst to her, there's a great deal more emotional devastation to come, especially after she learns that she's in danger because of her father's longtime enemy, Cesare de Santis, and that Van needs her to stay in New York so he can protect her better than the former mercenary guards who've been patrolling and protecting her at the ranch her entire life.

Things are about to become even more complicated in this gripping tale of secrets and lies, false expectations, broken promises, familial relationships, duty, honor and love, the latter being the element that tore at this reader's heart. As an only child of two working parents, I thoroughly identified with Chloe's lifelong feelings of loneliness and betrayal. Her unrequited love for Van, made her even more susceptible to heartbreak, but I admired the way she always managed to hide her true feelings and carry on until she reached the point where she just couldn't. Van too has issues in his past that prevent him from facing his own feelings and keep him emotionally unavailable. His guilt about never measuring up to his father's high standards provided him with more than enough self-doubt and angst to fill several novels.

While I found this novel to be an excellent, emotion-packed, suspenseful, and addictive read, and while I loved the steaminess I've come to expect from Ms. Ashenden's novels, there was one flaw that kept me from giving it a 5-star rating, and that was Van's inability to see what was right in front of him all along--Chloe's love for him, and his inability to face his own feelings for her. While this novel works as a standalone, there are still some unresolved issues that I'm certain will be addressed in the next titles in this series, and, quite frankly, I cannot wait to read them.

I read and reviewed an advance reader copy of this novel and received no compensation for doing so. The opinions expressed are my own.

For the first book in a new series, I found the plot interesting and intriguing, though very predictable. There were issues that took away from the overall enjoyment of the story, those being with Van and Chloe.

Van's constant utterances of his being a SEAL became old very fast. I can't believe that a true soldier would have to throw into just about every thought or conversation which branch or special operations force of the military that he or she served under, or was actively serving. I understood going into the story that he was on active duty as a SEAL, I didn't need to be reminded on nearly every page that he was.

For Chloe, long after finding out about her father's lies then to continue to lament about his neglected treatment of her was hard to believable as being realistic. Carrying around a snow globe wistfully looking at it even after she was given the truth about her father, made her appeared more as a very young girl rather than as a strong woman single handily running a large ranch.

The only reason I can see myself reading the next two books in the series would be to find out what had been written in Lucas' and Wolf's letters from Noah.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and Netgally, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
