I have been a huge fan of Jackie's for quite awhile. I found her books through Netgalley and instantly hooked. I like the story plot of The Dangerous Billionaire. I loved the taboo of the lust going on with Van and Chloe. The whole Navy Seal protecting the heroine, very HOT. So I was very excited to dive into this book! I rated this book a 3.5. I was into the story line for a moment, then it got a little repetitive for me a few times. I would start to get into the characters, then that would happen that would throw me a little of kilter. So that only made it a little harder to stay within the book. Jackie does deliver on the Hot alpha Navy seal man that inherited his fathers ranch. This makes Chloe go after him to see if she can get him to give her complete ownership and control of the ranch. Chloe has always had a thing for Van. The question is will they look past being adopted siblings and make a go at it? You will have to read this book and find out.

At the end I was more so satisfied. The characters were pretty much developed and we got a glimpse of the other two brothers. This is where we know there will be other series to come soon. So I am hoping that this book only being the 1st in the series, the next two will blow it out of the park for me. I am looking forward continuing with the next two brothers!

The Dangerous Billionaire is the first of a new series, an offshoot of Jackie Ashenden's de Santis Brothers series (ie: The Billionaire's Virgin). Unfortunately, it lacked the same punch that series offers, but it's not bad. It's got the same type of theme: billionaire bad boy, younger, less experienced heroine. Sullivan "Van" Tate and his two foster brothers, Wolfe and Lucas have just lost their father, Noah Tate, billionaire owner of Tate Oil. All three are Navy SEALs who would prefer they were back with their units rather than being in New York dealing with their father's company and his estate. Each has received a letter from their father, but none of them are sharing with the others what their letters said. Van's letter tells him to protect their younger sister, their stepsister actually, because she's actually Cesar de Santis' biological daughter, and now that Noah is dead, Chloe is in extreme danger from Cesar.

When Van and Chloe see each other again after eight years, she's not the same young girl he remembers. She's not happy to see him, for one, she's not smiling, and she's beautiful, a grown woman. Van wasn't expecting to be attracted to her, but he is, even if it's an unwanted attraction. As the two fall into a physical relationship, it's apparent that Van can't offer Chloe anything but sex and protection. He may care about her, but he isn't willing to give her what she wants: love, real love. Their chemistry is kind of steamy, but it felt as if it were all they had going for them. I never felt their bond to be very strong, and the back and forth that Van put Chloe through was really annoying. I felt sorry for her, he was so hot and cold, and he played with her poor heart, a lot. Not purposely, but still, he was cold with her when he should have been more understanding. Not only that, but he should have kept his cock in his pants, because it was obvious Chloe had feelings for him that he simply couldn't reciprocate, or at least not admit that he reciprocated. I don't like Van, but I can't say that Chloe is that great, either. She's a little immature and whiny. She didn't act 25, more like 18, and not a very mature 18. All in all, neither of them is that likable, and I never believed their feelings were anything other than lust and perhaps a little hero worship on Chloe's part.

I am interested enough in this new series to want to read Lucas' story, though, so here's hoping it's better than The Dangerous Billionaire.

A navy SEAL turned corporate shark, Sullivan is in over his head. Sullivan aka Van, is a man who wants to protect the innocent and defend those who can not defend themselves. This is the reason why he left his father's world of corporate movers and shakers. He no longer wants the heir apparent role to run his father's large conglomerate. He does not seek his father's approval that will never materialize. Now that his father is dead, the chance for his father's approval is zilch.

The conflicts story in this story are messy and emotional. At the heart of it, a selfish man messes up his three adopted sons and his daughter. His death only makes matters more complicated and it seems as if the apology from the grave is more a backhanded compliment rather than a sincere regret. Van's father is a jerk. The way he treated his kids shows a man focused on money and his legacy rather than shared memories with children who idolized him. Neglect is a form of abuse. It may not show on the outside, but it certainly hurts on the inside. This is never more evident than in Van's sister, Chloe.

Chloe is the flesh and blood of Van's adoptive father and she's experienced more disappointment and broken promises from their father. His callous exclusion of her from his attention and affection is painful to learn about. After the death of her father, the truth comes out and it all becomes clear. The shocking news about her past makes her question everything. Who does she trust and is she really wanted?

I liked Chloe and I felt bad for her. She is dealt a raw deal and the men in her life are arrogant domineering jerks. Van may not be a complete jerk, but he is certainly domineering. I didn't like Van. I felt for his situation and understood why he does what he does. I just didn't like how he treated Chloe and I don't think he is right for her. His actions do not really match up with his declarations. His pushy agendas and willful ignorance of Chloe's dreams and hopes bothers me. The sex between them is lackluster for me because it feels like it is just Van scratching an itch, finally tasting his forbidden fruit. Chloe's heart will be broken by this man whose dreams and plans are nowhere near hers. This is why the book is just okay for me. I did not believe in the chemistry between the two and I do not like Van.

Van may have used his "alpha" personality to do a bit of dominating in the bedroom. I would say this worked only because Chloe is a young 25 year old with close to zero experience in the bedroom. Van's quite experienced so it is an unfair advantage for him. Fortunately he is not a selfish lover and works to pleasure Chloe.

The story pace moves in a nice even canter. The subplots help move the story along. There are a couple of set ups for future books as Van's two brothers received letters post death from their father too. The details are not revealed but it is clear the brothers do not like what they read. The issue left for Van to solve places him in a pickle and only hurts Chloe. Which ones again makes me feel badly for Chloe. She is constantly getting the short end of the stick. Overall this is a rough romance between an alpha male and an independent female. The ending is a bit of a hook to the next book in the series.

Warning! There will be spoilers in this review.

Sullivan “Van”, Lucas and Wolf were adopted from St Mary’s Home for Boys by billionaire oil magnate Noah Tate. All three men were Navy SEALs. They had a much younger sister, Chloe, who was Noah’s actual daughter. Chloe runs the family ranch in Wyoming. Upon Noah’s death, everything is given to Van.

All three brothers are given individual letters in sealed envelopes from Noah. Van is instructed to protect Chloe from Noah’s long time enemy at any cost. He sends for her, bringing her to New York where Tate oil and gas was based.

Van is a commander in the SEALs. On a mission gone bad, he accidentally shoots and kills a woman he was protecting. He doesn’t deserve happiness because she disobeyed what he told her to do and he mistakenly kills her. He uses this to whine about everything for most of the book. He has to make her death stand for something. He has to continue to live up to the expectations of his dead father (who was a worthless piece of crap). On and on….

Chloe was pretty much ignored by her father. She is left on the ranch with full time protection. Noah was always making then breaking every promise he ever made to her. After his death, she discovers one more whopping lie from him. She has run the ranch for the last 5 years on her own. She has made no friends, on the ranch or off , because she just can’t let anyone get close to her and set her up for more disappointments.

So much repetition of their inner thoughts. So much negativity and push and pull. Several times these characters come across as immature and childish. And he’s a commander for the SEALs?

The foster relationship was brought up A LOT. I’m assuming the author was trying to make as if their relationship was taboo. It fell really flat as these two spent very little time together growing up because of their age difference - 10 years. He was in boarding school then left for the military, coming home infrequently on his leave and his last visit was 8 years ago.

This book drags for over half the book. The last third gets better, but it takes until the very end for Van to step up and be the man he should have been long before then. I found myself skimming through the repetitive parts and rolling my eyes.

When Van coerced Chloe into sex to convince her to marry him? I about blew a gasket.

We aren’t given too much information on the brothers, Lucas and Wolf. Both come across as dark, brooding, angry, intense, alpha men. So my interest is a little piqued about their stories. Hopefully the next books will be better developed and congruent with the type of men they are supposed to be.

A family of rough and rugged SEAL's - yes please! Jackie Ashenden kicks off a news series featuring the Tate Brothers. All three are SEAL's and have returned home after the death of their father. The oldest Sullivan/ Van is not only charged with keeping the family business going but protecting their foster sister Chloe from their father's enemies. The later is easier said than done since Chloe is not the least bit cooperative but as secrets come to light and truths are found out it becomes apparent the dangers are very real. As Van and Chloe spend more and more time together, their forbidden attraction becomes stronger.

This story is very well done and of course the writing is outstanding. The story isn't one of my favorites but I did find it very entertaining and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Sullivan "Van", Lucas and Wolf were adopted by oil billionaire Noah Tate.
Years ahead the 3 became military, SEAL, but Noah always made it clear that as family, their primary function was to take care of the family business.
An event in Van's military life made him change his mind about being a business man, and he decided to remain a military man.
But Noah was found dead at his ranch in Wyoming. Van became the primary heir, and the other two would have to be on the board of directors of the company.
However, there was more work for him to do: Van should protect Chloe Tate, Noah's daughter.

Chloe was doubly unhappy. She had lost her father, but also her ranch, the place she had run for years, and her father had always told her it would be hers. But after the reading of the will, she learns that not only did she not inherit the ranch, as she wasn't even mentioned in the will.
Determined to fight for her right, she goes to NY to talk to Van, and that's when he gives her the bomb-news: she could not go back to Wyoming because her life was in danger thanks to Tate's family archenemy, Cesare de Santis .

The problem was bigger than they thought and through the days, they will discover new secrets that Noah kept for a long time.
Van and Chloe would have to stay together during this period, and she, who always had a crush on him, would fight not to have her heart shattered a second time...
Her life was in danger, but her heart was the worst victim of all.

Mystery and romance.
A new Asherden's romance novel to make you sigh...

This book I reviewed had all of the checkmarks I look for in a interesting read; military, money, and hot romance.

There are many parts of the book that I enjoyed but there are some that I just had to shake my head and move past. The author put a lot on the foster sibling relationship issue, but since they're adults and not related in any manner this seemed not much of an issue, to me anyway. Plus Chloe did some not too smart maneuvering on her own placing herself and others in danger.

The other two foster brothers are really not involved too much in the story but they are set up for additional books in the series. With the character development as such, they should be a good read.

Overall I enjoy Jackie's writing. Her development of the characters is usually pretty good and the steam factor is pretty high, especially in this story.

The Dangerous Billionaire offers great flow with some hot and sexy moments to make this a captivating and interesting read. Plus Van is delicious!! This series is one to keep an eye on.

The Dangerous Billionaire by Jackie Ashenden
Tate Brothers #1

Noah Tate needed to ensure the future of his company and without a biological male heir he decided to adopt three young boys to be his sons. Each of those young men eventually became SEALs and men to be reckoned with. Well, when Noah dies his sons are each given a letter that will changed their lives – or so it would seem from book one. Van is tasked with keeping his foster sister, Chloe, safe. This is no easy task even when he brings her to stay with him in New York. With an enemy to stymie, chemistry to avoid acting upon and baggage from their pasts to contend with this book is fraught with trouble…and a few steamy encounters. I enjoyed the eventual ending of this book and look forward to reading the stories of Lucas and Wolf, Van’s brothers, when they are released.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Van carries a heavy burden after a mission he was responsible for turned bad. Having been raised by a father that expected perfection he finds himself in the position of proving that perfection when he is left with the family’s oil business. Add that to his previous failure and he’s a man struggling to do what is right.

Chloe has never left the ranch where she was raised despite the promises her father gave her. Now all she has is the ranch and that has been left to her foster brother Van. Lonely and unwanted, her only hope is that he will relent and deed the property to her if she follows his instructions and travels to New York where he is waiting. Her safety is at issue and Van has been given the job of securing her along with the business.

While this was well written, I found the story itself to have several holes in it as well as the characters to be inconsistent. I wanted to like this couple but their reunion showed them to be rather immature and it was hard to feel any real chemistry between them. The sex is hot and steamy but otherwise I never felt they really had any longing for each other.

We are given both points of view so I was always aware that Van never really wanted to stay with Chloe at least until the very end. Of course there is a reason he is determined to return to the service but even in his thoughts he had no turmoil over that decision.

I’ve read other works by this author and have enjoyed them so I will continue to read her books, I just wish I could have enjoyed this one more.

Jackie Ashenden can make sin look sexy. Her stories are edgy, earnest and hard to walk away from. Van is every woman's fantasy and every man's nightmare. A warrior on a mission, Van will risk everything to protect his heart's desire. Even walk away. Chloe is a force onto herself. She is She-Ra to Van's He-Man. She faces her enemies head on, with an inner fire that is as powerful as she is beautiful. What enthralls me most about hero and heroine is that Ms. Ashenden are equal partners in the direction the story takes. The Dangerous Billionaire is not one to be missed.

Van Tate and his two brothers grew up in a boys home. Until they were taken in by Oil Billionaire Noah Tate. He raised them into good men, men who were one day supposed to take over the family company. Only now that dad is dead and left everything to Van, he doesn't really want to deal with it. He's not a New York business man. He wants to go back to his life as a Navy SEAL, just like his brothers.
But in a private letter from his dad he reads that he has to man up and be there for the company AND for his little sister Chloe. She's in danger from dad's old friend-turned-enemy.
Chloe.
The girl never really felt like a sister. He's ten years older and he left for boarding school when she was only two. He only remembers the little girl who was so full of smiles for him whenever he came home for the holidays.
And now here's this beautiful, grown woman, who needs his protection but doesn't want it! She only wants to go back home to Wyoming to take care of her horses.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO CHLOE & VAN?
WILL WE GET A HAPPILY EVER AFTER??
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

When I hear Navy SEAL - I come running - I just have to read those books!
And this SEAL - or rather these three SEALs are pretty adorable! ....

BUT ....
This book had the potential to be a great, interesting story - just what I like - a sexy romantic suspense. And I kind of liked parts of it. BUT - I just had way too many problems with the book to enjoy it. I almost DNF'd twice.
I prefer books told from the first person POV. I don't HATE others, but I just prefer it. And this one was told in the 3rd. And in the first few pages alone I read the name Van a million times, which bothered me extremely - no idea why. Would not have happened with a first person POV!
But that was only the beginning of my dislike for the book. But I got off to a 'great' start that way. ☺

It's the first time I've read this author. And I hate those moments when you find out that persons from books - or rather, from book #1 in a series, have been in other books before. In this case the sons of the 'bad' guy used to have a series - that's why they were all mentioned a few times. But, that's not really all that bad, it's not necessary for this story, but I still hate it. I need to read all books in the right order! Grrr.

Another thing, the title? Or rather the whole billionaire SEAL thing? Doesn't that sound like the cheapest and oldest grocery store dime romance? Or even a bad porn? When I chose to read the book, I saw the cover, liked it, (especially when I found out that this open-white-shirt scene actually happens!) and I loved that it was about SEALs, the title I could've done without. Or the weird situation Van finds himself in. The being-a-billionaire thing. The stepsister thing. Ok, I kind of hated the idea of the story too. Sorry. I would've loved it more without the step-sibling thing and without the NYC billionaire thing. The story should've happened in Wyoming. NYC was so not fitting for anything in this story.

And now to the worst part of this book. REPETITION!
OMG Jackie! No offense, but did you not send this book to your editor to go over and cut unnecessary stuff out????? Every single fact and thought and event gets repeated numerous times. I almost stopped reading during the first few chapters because it hurt my brain!

So, while this was a nice story, with 3 potentially great SEALs, and a bit of suspense and some sexiness, the writing and editing was horrible. I tried reading all of it, but in the end - or rather - from around the 20% mark on, I mostly only read when people talked to each other.
I'm not sure if I'll read the 2nd book, but I'm kind of interested to see what Lucas and then later Wolf will have to deal with.

I'm sorry I don't have anything better to say - it could totally just be my personal taste - I know I'm weird with many things about books, but I'm always honest in my reviews, so ... sorry. But this one wasn't my kind of SEAL book :/

THE DANGEROUS BILLIONAIRE was pretty adorable & sexy & suspensy romance! There was room for more ... but I don't want to stop you from enjoying it - try it - run to your nearest amazon for your own Van!!

I became a fan of Ms Ashenden when I read her Texas Bounty series. So when I saw she had a new series, I knew I had to get the it. I was a little apprehensive about the foster sister-foster brother relationship, but knew the author would handle it properly , and she did.
This series centers around three foster brothers, all Navy Seals, whose “father” , upon his death, leaves them his oil company and his daughter, Chole was left nothing. But of course , there is more to the story.
In book one the main characters are Van Tate and Chloe. Van was chose by his Dad to head the oil corporation, while all he and his brothers want is to remain Seals. Chloe, thought she was going to inherit the ranch in Wyoming. She has lived there all her life and has managed it as an adult. It’s her life and love. But she was not left it in his will.
Letters were written by Tate Sr to each of this sons. Tate’s let’s him know that Chloe is in danger. So Van mandates her to come see him in NYC where he is determined to protect her. Both are attracted to each other, but want to deny it.
Apart from a plot filled with suspense, twists and turns, a hunky Seal , a determined rancher and romance, it’s more than that.
It’s a story about how the actions of a parent can affect a child, how experiences can change a man to the point of feeling not worthy of love or any relationship, about revenge, sibling interaction and how love , compassion and forgiveness of one’s actions, can redeem us and allow us to truly love.

This is exciting and thrilling to read. It offers an interesting story line which is easily entertainable and keeps the reader entranced in the novel itself. It offers amusement and it is a nice read. It ticks all the boxes including all the twists and bends contained within the story line with the novel. I would highly recommend this novel to a wide range of audiences seeking to tick their reading needs in terms of erotic, adventure etc and who enjoys consuming books with twists and bends which make's it all the more exciting with each flip of a page. You definitely will not be disappointed.

When their foster father dies, his 3 Navy SEAL sons come home. They find out that he left his ranch and assets to his oldest son, Van. He also left each of them a letter and when Van opens his it says that his foster father wants him to protect his daughter, Chloe. Chloe has been at the ranch most of her life and is furious when she learns that Van has inherited it. The ranch was promised to her. Family secrets are exposed in this suspenseful romance which is the first book in a new series. Can't wait for the next one!

Sullivan “Van” Tate was adopted and raised by an oil tycoon. Instead of taking over the family business he became a decorated Navy Seal. When his tycoon father dies, Van is instructed to protect his foster sister Chloe.

Chloe wants to know why her father gave Van everything, including the ranch she has been running and living on since birth in Wyoming. She heads to NYC, to confront her adopted brother only to discover there where secrets on top of secrets.

Chloe has always had a crush on Van. Chloe was a decade younger and raised completely separate from Van. Both had a distant and unexplained childhood caused by the secretive tycoon. I did have a hard time with the overall concept coming together with the reveal all hitting you speedy and at the end.

THE DANGEROUS BILLIONAIRE provided a good mystery with a heavy dose of daddy issues on the side. I didn't feel the foster siblings was a relevant issue, especially with Chloe being 25, so I didn't buy into that taboo.

I enjoyed THE DANGEROUS BILLIONAIRE and its intriguing characters that are relatable and likable. Easy, entertaining and leaving me wanting more, Ashenden has a great start to a new series with THE DANGEROUS BILLIONAIRE

I received this ARC copy of The Dangerous Billionaire from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. The Dangerous Billionaire is set for publication on May 2, 2017.

This was a DNF for me.

I am kind of bummed about this one as I really enjoyed this author's other books but this one just isn't keeping my attention. The hero and heroine are WAY too whiny and childish acting.

Navy Seal Sullivan (Van) Tate is not interested in being the head of Tate oil, but his foster fathers death forces him to not only take charge of Tate Oil and protect it from being taken over by business rival Cesare de Santis, but also protect his foster sister Chloe.
Chloe is tired of all the broken promises, and doesn't trust easily. She is only interested in her ranch and horses. But now she is held captive for her own protection by Van, the guy she crushed on as a teen.
I have been a huge fan of Jackie Ashendens books, And though The dangerous Billionaire is not as gripping as her previous reads, the secrets, twists and turns kept it interesting enough for me and I look forward to reading Lucas and Wolfs books.

Review of The Dangerous Billionaire by Jackie Ashenden

ARC c/o Netgallery in exchange for an honest review

⭐️ 5 off the chart stars !!!! ⭐️

This book is the first in the Tate brothers series - Navy Seal billionaires. I absolutely loved Sullivan "Van" & Chloe's story. Van & Chloe are adopted foster siblings. Chloe is called to New York after the unexpected death of their father. Van has been left to run Tate Oil - protect Chloe & save the company from the threat of a possible hostile corporate takeover.

Van doesn't have time for relationships - treating this latest development with Chloe as just another mission.

Chloe has been running the family horse ranch & is expecting it to be left to her in her fathers will. What she finds out is that she has been left nothing at all as well as a shocking family secret regarding her father.

Van wants to protect Chloe at all costs .. this story has some twists & turns you will not see coming as well as the BEST HEA ...

Do not miss out on this book ! I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Jackie Ashenden touches your heart with her amazing stories & this book is no exception.

One of my favorite reads so far this year !! Thumbs way up !!

Eh... I usually can't get enough of Ms Ashendens books, but this one skated the line of incest weirdly closely for me. Clearly these two are NOT related... but still. Hearing them both refer to "their" father as "Dad", all their sibling-like power struggles... I didn't feel the sexual tension was entirely ok, and it was awkward to read.I did not find myself empathizing with them, engaging with them, or particularly rooting for them. A disconnect, for sure.
