The Dangerous Billionaire, by Jackie Ashenden was a fast pace thrilling novel! Van and Chloe have to fight for their relationship, and it ain't easy! Lots of drama, deceit and corruption. I am very intrigued to see what will happen next in the series.
Great romantic suspense with intense emotions…
This is the first book in the Tate Brothers series that can be read as a stand-alone.
Three foster brothers who are all Navy SEAL’s are called home to deal with the death of the man who adopted them, the head of a highly lucrative oil company. The will and three personal letters awaited them, their lives are about to change, need to change, if they are to protect their father’s legacy. What was in Sullivan (Van) Tate’s letter was a shocker and something he would take on, the protection of his foster sister, Chloe Tate, who is danger from their father’s long time enemy. The enemy was always known but now Van knows why Chloe is at greater risk and must decide if he should tell her a truth that’s been kept hidden by a father who was rather uninvolved with his adopted children.
Chloe doesn’t like how her foster brother just commanded her presence in New York City. With much going on at the Wyoming ranch she’s loathe to leave for even a short length of time but she does need to settle the fact that she wasn’t ceded the ranch in the will, she knows the brothers don’t want it since they rarely visited and have never expressed interest in running the ranch. It’s rightfully hers and she’ll fight for it if she has to. She’s put all of herself into the ranch where she was isolated under the guise of protection, the thriving ranch is the effort of all her sweat and blood.
It’s been eight years since Chloe’s seen Sullivan, though foster siblings with him being ten years older they weren’t raised together but those times they interacted an unforgettable bond was formed or at least she thought so. Neither one has ever really thought of the other as a brother or sister and that’s a good thing for the chemistry between these two leaps off the pages from the moment when they meet again at a lonely airstrip on a dreary rainy night with nature mirroring their inner turmoil.
This was great romantic suspense with intense emotions, an intriguing storyline and strong complicated characters with issues, some shared, to resolve. The father kept many secrets and told many lies. Upon his death truth seeks the light of day. Are these children ready to hear it? Will they even believe it? Can they accept it? Regardless, the consequences are theirs to deal with.
This was my first time reading this author and I was impressed, the compelling plot kept me turning the pages, the emotions were highly palpable, the sex scenes steamy. Van isn’t just protective of Chloe, but also possessive, something he has to come to terms with. He never wanted to inherit the company and rebelled against his father’s desires but now that the man is gone he’ll do so but not in any way Noah Tate would probably appreciate. This reader loves rebellious tendencies in characters, it lends to their uniqueness, in being their own person. Chloe’s a sassy young woman with much inner strength, more than she realizes, you can’t help but like her. We don’t get the reasons why Noah did the things he did but the final letter a month after his death gives him a small measure of redemption. We are given dual points of view which enhanced the story. This reader is definitely looking forward to more in this series.
An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.
2.5 Stars The Dangerous Billionaire is book 1 in the Tate Brother’s series. Let me start by saying Jackie Ashenden has quickly become an auto read for me since reading her Motor City Royals and Texas Bounty series. But this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I got a little frustrated with the repetitive whining from both main characters which I found detracted from could have been a great story. I will continue to read this series and see where it goes. .
Another smashing hot romance by Ms. Ashenden. Enjoyed it from start to finish.
2.5*
I look forward to books by this author and as soon as a I hear about a new one I start reading but I just couldn't get into this one at all. It took me four attempts to get half way and then I skimmed the rest.
Don't get me wrong apart from being repetitive this isn't a bad book it's just that I didn't like either Van or Chloe they were far too whiny and I personally need to like the characters I'm reading about or it just doesn't work.
This was very nearly a DNF but I skimmed to the end and the second half was better than the first but by that point the book had lost me.
Sullivan, Wolf and Lucas were adopted by billionaire Noah Tate, all three of them are Navy Seals but after Noah's death Van as heir is left in charge of Tate Oil and given the additional task of protecting his step sister Chloe who's real father Cesare de Santis was Noah's long time enemy. If you're familiar with this author's work then the de Santis name will be familiar but this time it's the father and not the sons.
Van's not happy at being away from his unit, he's not happy being left in charge of Tate Oil or the takeover problems they're having, he's not happy he's been left in charge of Chloe....the list goes on it's easier to just say "he's not happy" on top of this Chloe is not happy either.
Now I understand why they're both upset and they both have good reasons but it makes for dull reading plus I didn't feel any real chemistry between them either.
While this book didn't work for me I'm intrigued by both Wolf and Lucas and I'm looking forward to their books.
I really liked this. The main characters held my interest and the storyline was great. I did find the foster brother/sister thing a bit weird though I must admit.
I enjoyed this book! Here we meet the Tate family, unconventional family, foster brothers, who were adopted at the same time, and a foster sister, who was a legit daughter to Billionaire. Noah Tate, or as they thought it was at the time. Noah dies, and foster brothers get shock of their lives as they read individual letters left to them by Noah. Van is the oldest and heir to fortune and ranch, which was supposed to be left to Chloe. He has been left the task to protecting her due to dangerous threat to her, I won't tell you what it is, you have to read it to know, but it's good. Chloe is upset, because nothing is left to her, and she also ends up with shock of her life. They are both attracted to each other, and try to fight it because they see it as wrong, and their age difference. Eventually they give in, and fall in love, but of course there are some twist and turns, book keeps you interested, can't wait for other Tate brothers story!!
This is the first in a new series featuring the Tate brothers. You may recognize some of the characters from her previous series concerning the DeSantis family. In fact, in this book the Tate and the DeSantis family are bitter rivals (with good reason). I wanted to like this book more than I did simply because I enjoyed the previous two books from Jackie Ashenden. However, at times I just felt like both Van and Chloe were too whiny. And a SEAL should never be whiny. Eventually Van did step up but it just seemed that the story lagged until he did.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
This book is so slow to get to any action or adventure or anything but talking. It is so boring, I could not finish because I got board. Needs more up front to keep readers interested and something to pull them in.
I always struggle with being fair to the first book in a series because it has to spend quite a bit of time establishing everyone. This series starter was no different. However, the time spent establishing the Tate family didn't bother me as much as the herky jerky pace at which Van and Chole seemed to just skip over 8 years of distance, death, discovery and their own individualism. The pacing felt just off through most of this book. It was an enjoyable read. It was well written and I did like each character, individually. I just didn't think their interactions fit the pace. Other than that, I enjoyed it and will read the rest because the other two brothers have some secrets!
The Dangerous Billionaire by Jackie Ashenden was brilliant. A family torn apart by a dead father's secrets. A man who couldn't have kids adopted and accepted four children to raise as his own. His heirs. The father is a rich man who made his money from oil. After his death he wrote a will. Stating that his eldest adoptiveson, Van Tate, is the sole heir of both the Tate oil company and the ranch. But there lies the problem...the ranch was to go to the youngest. Chloe Tate was told by her father that's she would inherit the ranch. However, he's dead now, and he left behind more problems than promises kept.
Chloe is called out to New York by Tate. She soon learns that he has inherited everything...including the family ranch. Chloe is frustrated at how Tate makes her feel. Tate, too, has deep feelings for his adoptive sister, Chloe. They both try to push the feelings away. But neither succeed and now, the stakes are high as well as the danger. Secrets...Chloe and Tate both find out her real parentage. Shock isn't the only emotional released after the news. The emotional journey from beginning to end was intense. Powerfully written and engaging in every way possible. Tate soon becomes exactly as the title suggests, The Dangerous Billionaire. Jackie Ashenden has thoroughly impressed me with her applause male heroes and stubborn heroine. The plot twists were unexpected but very good. Enticing, hot, and sweet. I loved reading this contemporary romance novel. Overall, I highly recommend it to all.
I immensely enjoyed this book I will be posting a full and comprehensive review upon release day.
Thanks for the opportunity to read this book
Van, Lucas, and Wolf are foster brothers and adopted by Noah Tate. They are all three Navy SEALs and have return for their father's funeral. They are each left a letter and Van's tells him to protect his foster sister Chloe. She is in danger.
Chloe lives in Wyoming and runs Tate Ranch. She is left absolutely nothing in her fathers will and everything went to her theee foster brothers. Van emails her to come to New York right away. She goes and finds out some startling news.
Van is all about military first and just wants to get this over with and go back to base. Chloe just wants the ranch and she'll head back home. They have one night of awesome sex but he tells her he can't give her more. She excepts it only Van can't seem to get enough of her. Will he let his past destroy his future or will he lose her?
This is the first in a new series. Secrets. Sex. And SEALs.
Very slow moving and hard to keep my interest. Characters were hard to connect with.
Looking for a steamy and suspenseful forbidden romance? Look no further than at THE DANGEROUS BILLIONAIRE by Jackie Ashenden. What happens when a billionaire oil tycoon dies unexpectedly and leaves his fortune and company to his three foster sons and cuts his daughter out of the will? Add in the complication of having an archenemy chomping at the bit to stage a hostile takeover who isn't above kidnapping and you have a situation fraught with drama. As if the potential for a disaster wasn't already high, toss in a smoldering attraction between the new heir, Sullivan Tate, and his foster sister, Chloe, and readers are guaranteed an explosion. Perfect blend of romance, danger, mystery, and family drama. Definitely recommend.
Commander Sullivan "Van" Tate was a SEAL, but that all changed when his Foster father had died, leaving him in charge of the billion dollar oil company, but as he and his brothers Lucas and Wolf were toast to the memory of the man, rather than the lousy father that he was. They received their last letter each from the great Noah Tate. Van's letter came as a huge shock to him! And it involved their foster sister Chloe and how she was in danger.
Chloe Tate was finally leaving the Tate ranch in Wyoming and headed to NYC! something her father had promised to do with her so many times, but as with everything that came out of her father's mouth, was a lie! Just like he promised her the ranch!! But he gave that all to Van as well! But now Van had summoned her to New York and while she was mad at the terms of her father's will, it didn't stop her from having butterflies about seeing Van! The man that she has loved since she was a child.
But nothing could prepare Chloe for the danger she was walking into, or how much Van and Chloe's relationship would, but when all the truth is revealed! Where will that leave Chloe and Van?!
Wow! What a rollercoaster of emotions this book has put me through, and yet! I want to read the next book SO badly right now!! I have never read a Jackie Ashenden book before, but after reading The Dangerous Billionaire, she is on my automatic 1-click list! The author has honestly written one of the most perfect romantic suspense books I have ever read, and I think that this book will change how I look at others in the future!
The plot has the perfect amount of rage against the parent, love, danger and intrigue, and the writing is powerful and heart felt! And you honestly cannot help but want to obey Van and love Chloe's sassy behavior...but I will say, but the end of the book you are desperate to know what was in Lucas and Wolf's letters.
I give The Dangerous Billionaire 5 stars! And now I'm just going to sit here and impatiently wait for book 2
LOVED this book! Wow, just, wow! This is sexy and sinful and starts as Chloe is summoned by her foster brother, Van, to New York City. She feels very put out and has no idea what is so important that she has to uproot herself from the Wyoming ranch she runs and should have inherited. She plans only to stay long enough to meet with Van, convince him to give her ownership of the ranch, then return home. But you know what they say about plans, right? Things never go the way you want or expect.
Sadly, Van has summoned Chloe because she isn't safe in Wyoming. Their father has made a dangerous enemy and one who wouldn't hesitate to harm her to achieve his objectives. But who this enemy is is a revelation of its own. Good thing she has three bad ass foster brothers to protect her.
This novel is almost non-stop sexiness woven throughout a compelling story. The pages practically sizzled and burned the pages on my kindle. Oh, my, I don't even smoke and felt like I needed a cigarette after reading this book.
This is book one of a new series, and, while it is a stand alone novel, I'm already anxiously looking forward to the next book. It's the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. I'm adding her to my must read authors' list and ending this review now so I can go purchase some books from her back-list.
**I received a copy of Dangerous Billionaire from St. Martin's Press and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
Dangerous Billionaire by Jackie Ashenden is book one in her new series Tate Brothers. I have read the authors Texas Bounty Hunter series so I was excited to start this new series by her. I'd give this book a 4.6 star rating.
Sullivan "Van" Tate returns home to attend his adoptive fathers funeral. When he arrives with his two brothers, Lucas and Wolf but when Van is handed three envelopes they receive the shock of their lives. Everything they knew isn't as it seems. All three are Navy SEALs who love what they do and are now faced with Van taking over his father's place as the new Tate Oil tycoon and Lucas and Wolf sitting on the board of directors. None want this task but Van knows his time as a SEAL may soon be over although being a billionaire isn't what his commanding officer wants but when he was in Columbia trying to rescue a hostage but she was killed in the end. Plus there is also their neighbor Cesare de Santis that will not accept that Noah Tate has something he wants.
Chloe Tate wants nothing more than to be on the ranch she grew up with and training the horses she loves. But when Sullivan sends for her she's given the news that Noah didn't leave her the ranch. All she's ever wanted is to be loved by her adoptive father and now she knows that with losing the ranch he didn't. But she's wants something else Van but can they take their attraction to another level while trying to keep her safe from de Santis? It will take everything to keep her safe even when she decides to help her brothers and agree to talk to Cesare against Van's wishes. Can Van finally come to grips to what happened in the jungle? Will Chloe be able to live with the secret that no one knew accept Cesare and Noah?
I believe that as the series as it progresses with give us the whys and hows of why Noah did what he did and look forward to reading the next two books in the series.
This is a great start to a new series by this author. The characters are well developed and the author throws in a surprise or two. There is also a foreshadow of the next installment -- can't wait.
Wow. I've not read anything by this author before and I wonder where have I been!
Smoking hot ,at times you need to fan yourself the scenes in this are so steamy.
Sullivan 'Van' is a navy seal, a billionaire, the heir in waiting and Chloe is his foster sister who needs protection because their dad had an enemy and a secret.
What transpires is a passionate a page turner that keeps you in suspense . I could not put it down.
So there are two other brothers in this story and it is quite clear that on their fathers death the letter they all received had a secret. I am hoping we will find this out in the following books.
Thanks for the opportunity to review.
