When presented with the chance to read a book featuring the teenage embodiments of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, I jumped at the chance. Riders was a good start to the duology, and I expected Seeker to be just as interesting. This, however, didn’t turn out the way I had hoped.
Shame on me for putting it so bluntly, but Seeker was wasted reading time. I should have skipped this and had my fond (if vague) memories of Riders left untainted. The four horseman of the apocalypse had much more potential than how they were used in this book and I would love recommendations for other books where they play a major role!

'Seeker' is now one of my favorite books of 2017 so far. It's one of those titles that you love so much that any review would be not much more than rambling and fangirling everywhere - and still not come close to explaining why and how much you love it. Right off - there was one thing I hated about this novel: It's the second and final book of the Riders duology. I WANT more. I NEED more! After reading Seeker I looked to see if there was any info on the next book in the series, only to discover the incredibly upsetting news that this was it. I was/am crushed. This is such a fantastic series that I wholly believe several more books should be involved and it's so sad that this has to be the end! I'll try not to focus on this fact and tell you why this novel was so fantastic instead.

Where to even start? Every single aspect of this story was amazing. The plot was unique and truly original - which is getting harder to achieve every day. There were lots of fascinating details throughout the book. I loved learning everything I could about the Seekers and how their powers worked. It was a great concept and I couldn't get enough. Add in demons, alternate realms, the horses, epic battles - all ridiculously wonderful. The main characters - Daryn and Gideon - were both fully rounded and complex. I loved each of them on their own and even more together. Daryn is a badass heroine. She has lots of great qualities including smart, brave, courageous, determined, and loyal - but she also has flaws, which only made her more realistic and easy to connect with. I was able to identify with her right from the very beginning of the story, which only helped me slip inside her world. Gideon is also brave, loyal, determined, and strong in so many ways - but he also has his own imperfections. Together they were a wonderful team, fiercely loyal friends, and easy to see as a real life couple. I loved watching them each grow separately in their own ways, as well as growing together.

The author's writing style is nothing short of amazing. I've read several of her other novels and each one was fantastically written. This book is no exception. She brings Daryn's world to life right before your eyes, even though it has some serious fantasy elements. The story is full of detailed descriptions and vivid imagery that allowed me to feel like I was right beside Daryn and Gideon the entire time. One other huge plus for me regarding the writing was the point of view the author uses. It's done in the first person, but in alternating viewpoints - that of both Daryn and Gideon. I'm a big fan of the first person POV, and I think it was the perfect fit for the story. I LOVED that the story's viewpoint alternates between the two main characters. It gives the book a whole new level of impact and interest that you don't normally get. The first person POV allows a much deeper connection between the narrator and the reader, which is a key point for me. I adored getting to know both Daryn and Gideon in such a personal way - it only enhanced my reading experience and my love for both of them and the story itself. In short - I HIGHLY recommend this book (series, actually) to fans of YA fantasy, paranormal, and even dystopian and romance - and for any reader looking for a fresh breath of air in an overwhelming and heavily populated genre. I cannot recommend this one highly enough!

First of all, I want to start by saying that, even though it's not necessary to read Riders in order to pick up Seeker, I would definitely recommend it! It would have been very helpful if I personally had read Riders first so, I feel like this is something I have to clarify before moving on to the review.

I really found the idea behind this book very unique and fascinating. It's completely different from anything I've read in the past so, I really wanted to give it a try and see whether I'd enjoy it or not. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. I found it very enjoyable and interesting to read. The world building was amazing and the story developed in a way that kept me -mostly - on edge.

Also, I found the characters to be very likable and easy to connect with. Which is very important for me, as a reader! They were very well written, which I feel like made the development of the story so much better and captivating. The book itself is told from both Daryn and Gideon's perspectives, who are our main characters in Seeker. I loved each of them for different reasons and loved their relationship and how it progressed even more.

Daryn is such a bad ass heroine! I can never get enough of them by the way! She has so many great qualities but, she also has her flaws, which is something that makes her even more relatable and easy to identify with. She's such a fierce heroine, which makes you so much more invested in her and her loyalty and determination to right the wrongs of the past and save humanity in the process. Gideon is also a wonderful character! He's loyal, courageous and strong, but has his imperfections as well, which makes him even more realistic and so easy to fall in love with! I loved the fact that he grew into himself and his relationship with Daryn.

The romance between the two was very slow and intense. It actually made you anticipate it even more and nothing was set in stone. Slow-burn relationships are my favorite and I shipped this one so hard! I feel like these two were perfect at growing separately but not apart, which is something truly admirable. They made a wonderful team and completed each other perfectly. Seeing their romance blossom and become stronger with each chapter, made the experience of reading Seeker even better!

The plot was very original and authentic, which isn't something you come across often nowadays! Probably my favorite thing about Seeker! It took me a while to get into the story but, as soon as I did, I was completely hooked. After I started wrapping my head around the history of the Seekers and everything they stood for, it was so much easier for me to get invested in the story and fall in love with it and its characters. Which is why Seeker got a four-star rating from me instead of a five. Last but not least, the ending was absolutely thrilling and completed the story of the Seekers perfectly!

Veronica Rossi did an amazing job at creating this intriguing world and taking readers along for the ride! It was full of awesomeness that I definitely didn't want to spoil in this review and I really enjoyed it! Magical, beautifully written and perfect for fans of YA novels!

This is another one that has a military twist to the story. I didn't think that I would love these but I do!! This one picks up where book one left off and although I wasn't too sure about book one I did love this next and last story in this amazing dualogy. This one has the group working with the government and having everything they need.

This is a wonderful last book to this series. With diverse characters and a great plot, this was an edge of your seat thriller that I just couldn't put down. It gives you everything you could ask for the end. I really wish it was going to be a full-fledged series vs. just two books but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Rossi comes out with next!

If yo'ur looking for a new story to get hooked on pick this one up it won't do you wrong.

I don't know if you guys are aware of this, but Veronica Rossi is one of my favorite authors ever. I have loved everything that she has written, and her Under the Never Sky trilogy holds a special place in my heart. Last year, Riders blew me away even though the writing and style were very different from what I had come to expect from Rossi. To me, it solidified how versatile and original she is as an author. Riders ended on a high note, with an ending that had me clamoring for this sequel. When the publisher was kind enough to offer me a copy, I was quick to jump on this bandwagon, and wow! What a ride it was! Once again, Veronica Rossi has crafted a sequel that does not suffer from sequel syndrome. Instead, it's a story that builds up on the epicness of the first book, and ends on an explosive note.

One of my favorite parts about reading a novel is always getting to know the characters, and forming an attachment to them. I especially love it when authors take that extra step to develop the characters so much so that they feel like real life people to you. That's how I felt about the gang in Riders and Seeker. I fell in love with them and their vastly different personalities in the first book, but here, I grew to know them even more, which wound up with me wanting to protect these characters from every source of harm. MY CHILDREN. Gideon, especially, has matured dramatically from the previous book. There was a fiercer strength to him here, that I was proud to see. He was devoted, and fiercely resolute in his goals. He falters throughout the series, but we also see him acknowledge his mistakes, which I found very attractive. I thought Rossi did a stellar job with the male POV here.

We also get Daryn's POV in Seeker. I really loved her character as well here. After the events that endangered one of the Riders in the previous book, she is hurting, and battling with her sense of guilt. She channels that guilt into going after the villain and saving her friend. Daryn is a fierce heroine, whose vulnerabilities make her a character that's easy to mesh with, and root for. She has so many admirable qualities, but her willingness to admit when she was wrong was what made her very relatable to me. Her romance with Gideon really blossomed in Seeker, and I shipped them together so much. They are both very headstrong characters, but I thought they harmonized each other very well. The romance was slow-burn, sweet, and subtly sexy. Their rapport had me swooning so hard. Rossi knows how to write couples that you become obsessed with.

The camaraderie between the Riders was another great element to this series. They've grown to become very close friends, and their teasing and banter brought a lightness to the story. I adored these boys, and their relationship with each other, and I wouldn't be opposed to reading more about them. I also have to mention the horses, especially Gideon's horse, whose personality is as fiery as he is. I love that he had so much individuality to him, and his relationship with Gideon was super endearing. In Seeker, Rossi continues to build up the fantasy world that she introduced readers to in Riders. We also get to see an alternate world, that I found fascinating. We also get more background on Seekers, and their history and role in the world. The plot was much more fast-paced here, and unlike the previous book, it didn't rely on flashback scenes. It made the book a lot more exciting for me, and I found myself speeding through it. From start to finish, Seeker was an absolutely thrilling ride for me.

I'm thrilled at the way that Seeker wrapped up. It was everything that I was expecting and so much more. My relationship with YA fantasy has been rather strained lately, but authors like Veronica Rossi and books like Seeker give me hope that it's not the end of YA fantasy and me.
