I have no idea how to rate "The Thirst." I went back to it three times and just could not go on. Something about the metal mouthpiece with sharpened teeth . . . just too much for me. And I love Harry Hole.
Maybe it's the juxtaposition between the married, happy (for Harry) man who has his drinking under control and is teaching at the police academy and the guy on the hunt for this killer who finds his victims on Tinder.
Jo Nesbo (whose first name I've just discovered is pronounced sort of like Hugh) creates the most terrifying killers, appalling beings who seem pulled from Norse nightmares brought on by modern environmental poisoning. Maybe I'm feeling raw from our current political situation but I couldn't swallow the vile fug of "The Thirst."
