Although I enjoyed the movie, the book was too confusing for me to keep up. It is a good comic book, though.

This was a nice read all in all. Please note that the volume 1 is Belle's point of view and no one else's. It would really be nice if some of the pages are in color. Drawing looks good, however I find the drawing for the men characters peculiar and funny especially beast and gaston, because they look so huge and a bit rough.

I really love differant kinds of animated magazines and manga and enjoyed reading this one and would really love to read more like this in the future.

I must admit that I'm personally still bitter about Tokyopop's original closure years ago and what that did for a number of series I followed. Frankly I am surprised that Disney would continue to work with them after that. That being said, I enjoyed this volume and am very much looking forward to reading the Beast's side of the story in the next volume. The art here is pretty, but not overly beautiful, like I would hope for a Beauty and the Beast adaptation. My one major gripe is that despite being manga-styled, not all of the panels actually read right to left; much of the text in the larger panels was meant to be read left to right. I read a lot of manga, and if this threw me, I know it will confuse many of our patrons as well.

I was sorry to see this is not Kindle friendly. It should be noted in the Netgalley description.

I have been wanting to read this book since I had first seen it on Goodreads under my recommendations. The story of Beauty and the Beast has always interested me and the original animated movie is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. I also have wanted to read a manga for a long time so why not start with something I know so well. This manga is very close to the new live action movie that came out last month. The illustrations are close to the live action characters but are different. This artist has done a great job with this story and it was a very good interpretation of the story. I like how she split the story between Belle and the Beast's perspectives. I will be reading the second one next and will be doing a review for it when I finish.

I recommend this for anyone that likes the story of Beauty and the Beast and for anyone that is interested in getting into the story. This was a great version of the story.

Overall: 5/5
Illustrations: 5/5
Content: 5/5 (Well, it IS a classic)
Cover: 5/5 (Love at first sight <3)
Editing: 5/5

Manga/illustrated novels for classics? Fairy tales? Oooooh yes. For such a big fairy tale fan and someone who's too lazy to read all those serious and sometimes way too deep and profound classics like me, manga or illustrated novels are usually the best choice. Graphics make everything a lot more simple to understand, and usually makes the reading process more entertaining too.

I LOVE this manga edition of Beauty and the Beast. The style of the illustrations is perfect! (Japanese drawing styles usually match my taste, see how Harry Potter limited edition cover turned out! SO. ADORABLE.) The editing went well too, and the cover was really pretty. What also attracted me was the fact that there are two books in this manga edition. A book for Belle, a book for the beast, I've always loved to read a story from two POVs, the male and female main characters, so that I can get different aspects of the love story. (I'm a girl, so I like to start from the female POV first.) (After reading Twilight from Bella's POV, I was dying to read Midnight Sun in Edward's, and then....yeah. Still waiting.) I'm hoping there will be manga editions for other classics too, come on Disney, please?

Conclusion: Worthy of recommending, and definitely a book worthy of buying for fairy tale book collectors.

Belle's Tale (Disney Beauty and the Beast, #1)
by Mallory Reaves
The combination of Manga and Disney's new adaptation of the Beauty and the Beast story. With added pages showing drawing line work and other aspects of the story.
the new adaptation of the story adds to the Disney original with a back story of her mother and that of the beast that changes the tone of the story.
The Manga drawing pattern blends the original Disney concept and the new artist changes to the story in the theaters.

A great read and interesting take on Belles side of the tale. Fantastically illustrated, I really hope it's released in colour.

A reasonable manga of the Disney film, thankfully without the song and dance numbers, but still a little childishly slushy, with lots of side profile images of Belle looking winsome and fawning.

This is a manga comic of the new Beauty and the Beast non-cartoon movie. I haven't seen the film yet, but I could definitely see changes in this graphic novel from the stories before it. Belle's background is filled in more concerning her parents, especially her mother. Also, she seems more intelligent and outgoing. She stands up for what she thinks is right, and she's the hero of the story. In most of the traditional Disney tales, the princess has to be saved by a prince, but Belle does most of the saving in these scenarios. Reading this was enjoyable for me.

This manga is a very short retelling of the 2017 movie version of Beauty and the Beast. The art style is super simplistic and a lot of the original story has been cut down and summarized to fit into one volume. I didn't care for this version so much because it made the story seem shallow with most of the major plot development cut out of it. I did like the art style, though. It was cute.

I did not like how each page was covered in a water mark. Afraid someone will copy it perhaps? I just found it annoying

This is beautiful! I loved this. I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy. I love the new take (based off the new movie) and I love the Manga adaptation! This is a new favorite of mine. LOVE!

I love Beauty and the Beast so even though I have seen the movie I was very interested when I saw these Manga pop up on Netgalley. I love the covers - they match up and look like Belle and Beast are looking at each other and while the review copies have a GIANT watermark on them through the pages, I very much enjoyed the illustration throughout.

In Belle's story, you get a lot of the same tale as the movies - you follow Belle as she becomes a prisoner, tries to escape, and falls for Beast. The manga did take a few liberties in that you get some more of Belle's thoughts as well as dialogue, which was nice and there was also a very interesting Epilogue.

I already have The Beast's Tale loaded up and I am excited to finally see this tale from his point of view. I think that if you are a fan of Beauty and the Beast this is a great thing to add to your collection, but do note that if you have not seen the movie, this book is really a print version of it (the current remake).

Copy received through NetGalley

I am reviewing both volumes in one.

This was my first experience with Manga, and it was really fun. I loved the style of the art work.
I had an interesting experience with the way it was told, it took me a while to get accustomed to the story in this form (I am somewhat emotionally attached to the cartoon version), but I liked it overall. Getting the Beast's side of the story in Vol. II was an awesome follow-up, the two volumes compliment each other well. I really enjoyed them.

I liked this better than the new cinematic version but not as much as the original Disney movie or fairy tale. This contains Besutiful illustrations and dialogue from the 2017 movie.
