What fun to revisit Rock Harbor and Bree, Kade, Samson, Bree's SAR dog, and other residents. This is another great suspense that we have come to expect from Colleen Coble.
Dana Newell is back in Rock Harbor to get away from an abusive relationship with Garret Waterman. Garret is a former sniper who served in the military with Dana's adopted brother, Chris, and that is how the two met. Chris was against the two dating but Dana did not listen. In a fit of anger over a dish that Dana had prepared, Garret tried to drown her in a sink full of hot soapy water. She has had enough and is trying to start a new life in Rock Harbor even though she knows he may follow her. She plans to live with Chris, who is actually her step cousin. Both of their parents are dead and it is just the two of them. She is hoping that all of her friends will protect her against Garret. Dana will be working as a 911 dispatcher with the sheriff's office.
Boone Carter has an outfitter business in Rock Harbor that he started after getting burned in a fire working as a smoke jumper. His former fiancé dumped him after his face was scarred and this has left him leery of relationships. Boone's sister was engaged two years ago but was murdered by drowning the night before the wedding. Their cousin, Allyson, is an investigative reporter working to find her killer. Now, she has heard of another bride who was killed by drowning the night before her wedding. In both cases, the groom was a pharmaceutical rep who never allowed his picture to be taken so there is not a picture to see what he looked like. Boone is in contact with the law officer working his sister's case and eventually the officer in the other bride's case gets involved. When Garret shows up and things happen, he becomes a suspect but the sheriff can never catch him. Garret is a gun rep who travels giving another reason to suspect him and seems to be from the same area as the murders.
This is a tension filled suspense that I had a hard time putting down. As the story rolls on, other evidence comes up to cast suspicion on other events that have happened in the past. There are lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I highly recommend this book.
A richly layered mystery with moments of suspense and great romantic interludes. I really enjoyed this trip back to Rock Harbor with new characters and old friends.
I didn't know this is a Rock Harbor continuation novel! I started reading and found it involved characters from past Colleen Coble books. Very fun!
Beneath Copper Falls is about Dana, a 911 dispatcher who returns to Rock Harbor after her boyfriend turns dangerous. She escapes with her life and hopes to find a new beginning. She lives with her adopted brother, Chris. The two share a strong bond having both lost their parents young.
The other main character is Boone, a man with scars on the outside, and fear on the inside. After being rejected by his first love, he feels no other woman will ever want him. Despite himself, Boone is drawn to Dana and wants to protect her from the unknown enemy lurking in Rock Harbor.
Colleen Coble does a fantastic job of hooking the reader from the first page. I loved the novel and couldn't wait to see who the mysterious enemy would be. If you are a Colleen fan, or have read her previous Rock Harbor series, this is a must read!
Another great read from Colleen Coble!
I love going back to Rock Harbor and revisiting old characters and getting to know new ones!
WOW! Absolutely loved this story. The suspense was incredible, I did not want to put it down. Dana moves back to her hometown to escape an abusive boyfriend. She meets Boone whose sister was killed by a serial killer, she was engaged to him and he kills his fiancees the night before the weddings. Dana and Boone inadvertently stumble across the identity of the killer and it's a fight for their lives to make it through. I give it 5 stars.
Another chilly suspense book from Colleen Coble that explores the question of how well we really know people. When Dana escapes an abusive boyfriend and moves back home to Rock Harbor, the security she hoped for doesn't seem to exist. People she loves suffer injuries and even death--could it be her ex? or something more sinister?
Well-developed characters (especially if you've read her other Rock Harbor books), and edge-of-the-seat suspense.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley. So glad that the author decided a return trip to Rock Harbor was in order. It was fun to catch up with some old favorites! I really enjoyed this mystery. It really kept me guessing. I would highly recommend this book!
Once again we are reunited with the wonderful people of Rock Harbor. This time, Bree's old friend Dana has moved back home to Rock Harbor to escape her abusive husband. The entire town rallies to protect her. But when her friend Allyson, an investigative reporter, is murdered. She begins to wonder if Allyson got too close to the truth. With the help of her new friend Boone, she uncovers crazy dark family secrets.
This book took me completely by surprise. I thought it would be a simple romance with a predictable mystery. Do not be misled! This is a Christian novel with an intense mystery that will make your head spin. If you love mysteries, this book is for you.
How wonderful to revisit Rock Harbor (Bree, Samson, Davy, Naomi, etc.) again! Number 6 introduces us to Dana, a 911 dispatcher trying to start a new life in Rock Harbor. Leaving an abusive boyfriend behind, she begins to make friends including Boone—her brother’s friend. Coble draws the reader in to the story from the very beginning. Characters were fleshed out well and the story was gripping. Definitely hope there will be a book 7!
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Colleen Coble is in absolute top form, in her element, back in Rock Harbor! Seriously. I enjoy her other books, but she shines when she writes in Rock Harbor! Tremendous suspense. Loved it!
Dana has already learned that love isn’t safe . . . but could it be different in Rock Harbor?
As a 911 dispatcher, Dana Newell takes pride in being calm in tough circumstances. In addition to her emotionally-charged career, she’s faced enough emergencies in her own life. She recently escaped her abusive fiancé to move to tranquil Rock Harbor where she hopes life will be more peaceful.
But the idyllic town hides more danger and secrets than it first appeared. Dana is continually drawn to her new friend Boone, who has scars inside and out. Then she answers a call at her job only to hear a friend’s desperate screams on the other end. Soon the pain in her past collides with the mysteries of her new home—and threatens to keep her from the future she’s always wanted.
Dana is afraid of making the same mistakes as before and Boone can't trust his own judgement when it comes to women. They are drawn to each other as they try to find out who murdered Boone's sister and other women by the serial killer the press has named the Groom Killer.
I enjoyed visiting Rock Harbor again and seeing how Bree and Kade were doing. I thought I had it figured out several times who the Groom Killer was. But I was wrong. I found myself reading when I should have been doing other things. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery.
Colleen Coble has heard our pleas and written another Rock Harbor novel! The story takes place in the familiar UP in Minnesota. There are the usual characters we fans have grown to love as well as some new ones. This story is about an emergency dispatcher who being stalked, threatened, and abused by her previous boyfriend. She moves back to Rock Harbor to distance herself, but troubles follows her.
From page one, the author does an excellent job pulling the reader immediately into the story. Another winner from Colleen Coble. I hope this is just the beginning of more Rock Harbor stories! I I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. highly recommend this book.
We're back in Rock Harbor! This was fast paced from the first page. I enjoyed the mystery and intrigue that was interwoven with romance in this story. The characters were believable and real. Highly recommended!
Another exciting chapter in the Rock Harbor series, including Bree and her faithful search and rescue dog, Samson. Romantic suspense with a few big plot twists, and a very exciting conclusion. A theme of caring more about pleasing God than people adds an inspirational side to the story. A satisfying read overall.
4.5 stars
Again, another winner by Ms Coble. I read this story in one sitting.
Another great book by Colleen Coble! Several suspenseful moments with just the right amount of romance. I had a little trouble keeping all of the characters straight, but mostly it was a very enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend this one.
At the behest of so many Rock Harbor fans everywhere, Colleen Coble has stepped up to the plate and finally written another chilling tale of murder and mayhem—set in the gorgeous snow-covered forests of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
911 dispatcher, Dana Newell returns to her beloved small town, Rock Harbor, to escape her terrorizing, abusive ex-boyfriend and gets a lot more than she bargained for. As Dana becomes involved in an investigation of a malevolent serial killer she finds herself being stalked as well. Has her abusive ex found her—and is he and the killer one and the same? As she and her new friend, Boone, search for answers, the heart-pounding tension heats up...romantic and otherwise!
There was nothing about this book I didn't like and Ms. Coble did a jam up job scaring the living daylights out of me! Quite possibly her best Rock Harbor series book ever, I was totally swept away by the breathtaking beauty of the snowy landscape, frigid lakes, and small town charm. So immersed was I into this spine-tingling suspense that when my phone rang I almost jumped out of my skin, so you may not want to read it alone at night. lol No worries if you haven't devoured the rest of the series (but now you'll want to), this reads quite well as a stand-alone novel. The author does a great job of recapping the characters in the series and I was delighted to see them again—especially some pretty awesome search-and-rescue dogs! A deliciously scary who-dun-it I highly recommend! Pre-order your copy today!
As usual, I loved this book. The Rock Harbor series is wonderful. Love the setting and getting to see characters again. This mystery has lots of twists and turns and I did not figure out who the killer was till the end
3 1/2 Stars
This is the first book I've read in the Rock Harbor Series and it won't be my last! Colleen Coble does an excellent job of giving the new reader just enough back story without being repetitive to the old. With a good plot and great cast of characters, she holds the readers interest until the last page. Coble does a very nice job with the Christian genre as well. She adds just enough as to not be over the top or come across as preachy. Looking forward to reading more books in this series.
Beneath Copper Falls is the sixth installment from the Rock Harbor series by Colleen Coble. Dana looks to find a new life in Rock Harbor. Her first day working as a dispatcher, she received a disturbing call from her friend, Allyson. Dana sends a deputy to help but it is too late and Allyson is found dead. To Dana's disbelief, the death is ruled an accident. With the help of two friends, Bree and Boone, she investigates further, where all three finds themselves in danger.
I loved Beneath Copper Falls. I instantly felt a connection to Dana from the start. I knew what she was going through and admired her strength to move on to new beginnings. The mystery and suspense of the story continued to keep me from putting the book down. So many twists and turns that made my head spin.
This book is a reminder why I love Colleen Coble books. I would give this book 5+ stars.
I received this book from the publisher but was not required to write a review. This review is my 100% honest opinion.
