Thunder wolf by Heather Long.
Wolves of willow bend #11.
With 3 enforcers dead who is next? Can John get to Hadley and keep her safe?
A good read but slow read. I didn't realise that it was a series and I haven't read the others. I did like Hadley and John. 3*.
This is about book 16 i think of a series of which i have read none of.
Hadley and John are both enforcers for a pack of lone wolves. Something happens and Hadley and John gather the lone wolves and hide them in a cabin in the woods under the alphas protection. Whilst there old attractions start up and Hadley and John have to deal with that and with a new task the alpha sends them on that has uneexpected consequences.
I enjoyed it but i wish i had of read the back storys.
Fantastic story you can not put down! This author knows how to craft characters that leave you wanting more and more
Thunder Wolf is the 11th book in the Wolves of Willow Bend series by Heather Long. I did find I was not lost coming in at the 11th book. I have not read this series before at all. I do enjoy Heather Long's writing so decided to pick this one up, I am very glad I did. There is action, adventure, and true love along the way in this book. I am going to say there is a huge part of the picture I was missing but the love story itself is very easy to follow with out having read anything in this series before. It is the political points that will have you slightly confused coming in at the 11th book in the series. So for this review I have concentrated on the parts I understood, the main love story.
John is an enforcer. He has been kinda burning the candle at both ends trying to keep order and peace. He will go months without seeing another enforcer. He watches lone wolves, upstarts, and occasionally work with other enforcers. He also keeps tabs on the rival packs. He has a full plate. He really needs to let loose and have some fun sometimes.
Hadley is a wild card. She loves being unpredictable. She is rather perfect for John she doesn't let him get away with much, and is trouble with a capital T. She is kind, sweet, and wild all at the same time.
Over all there is a lot going on in this book. There are pack politics, along with love, and so much more. Over all I think true fans of the series will love this story. I loved the main love story itself. I would like to go back and see what I missed so I could better understand the politics in this book. And I would really love to see more in this world in the future.
Four Twinkling Stars
Awesome book !!! Loved the chemistry between characters. ☆☆☆☆☆ rating.
Looking forward to read more books from this author.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Hadley is an enforcer and has her own group of lone wolves to take care of. Lone wolves are those who have chosen to leave their packs and go out on their own. Bad things are happening though and the enforcers are gathering their lone into a safe place.
Lone wolves are being slaughtered and now someone is going after enforcers also. They feel it may be the Russian Volchitsa and need to stop them. The Volchitsa are Russian wolves who were pushed out of their own country and now want to take over in America.
After another Enforcer is killed John Nelson, another Enforcer, decides to go and find Hadley after no one can reach her. He has always had feelings for Hadley but Enforcers aren't allowed to mate so he has had to keep them to himself.
John finally reaches Hadley after an attempt on her and her wolves lives. Hadley is happy to see John, he is the only one she calls friend. Can they figure out how to stop the killings before more die, maybe even them?
I read about a third of this book before I really started getting into it. Hadley is a free spirited woman and takes her job seriously. She mothers her lone wolves, but don't let her hear you say that!
She is a vicious fighter and will defend to the end.
She is confused when John tells her how important she is to him. She has always considered him a good friend, really her only, but never went further in her head because it wasn't allowed. So when these feelings do start to show for her she doesn't really know how to handle it. Could they be together? She knows she has physical feelings but how should she handle the emotional?
Hadley and John work great together while trying to solve the puzzle. He listens to her ideas as she does him and he trusts her possible solutions. I have to say that the author did a great job with the danger that faces the wolves. The plot twists and turns and is awesomely done.
This is a stand alone book but I feel like I was left hanging a bit. As far as this being Hadley and John's story, it is completed. The evil plot that faces the wolves is not quite finished though but it doesn't really impact the book.
I'd love to read about Julian...the head Enforcer. We see bits of him but I can imagine he has quite a story.
Amazingly fast paced story. Couldn't put it down. This series is a must read.
I will admit, I’m joining this story wayyyyyy after the first book. I completely didn’t realize that this was part of a series, but it’s clear from page 1 that there is a whole world of characters I don’t know about. That being said, I still instantly fell in love with Hadley.
John is an Enforcer and in charge of his own set of lone wolves. His life is a relatively solitary one, except for his lone wolf and Enforcer interactions. There has always been a soft spot in his heart for Hadley. Hadley is a fellow enforcer and generally an amazing woman. She’s independent, manages some of the most difficult lone wolves, and still manages to be a little bit of a mother to everyone around her. She is definitely determined not to have any attachments, but somehow John sneaks into her big heart.
The larger story has to do with some evil Russian wolves who are trying to kidnap and kill enforcers and their mates. This has obviously been building up for some time but there is a larger game going on. With lone wolves hanging out in packs and enforcers working as a team, everything that was so normal before is now entering crazyland. As I said earlier, Hadley alone is worth reading this story. Her character is everything I want in a strong female lead, complete with owning her sexuality and yielding some yummy smuttiness. Watching her and John “play” was super rewarding. I loved every minute of their unorthodox romance.
In this story, we find that the Russians Volchitsa are trying to eliminate all the Enforcers, by capturing and killing the lone wolves. So, we have Hadley Sexton rounding up all the loan wolves that she is responsible for to try to keep them safe. But is anyone truly safe? When the Russian Volchitsa locates Hadley’s safe house, the war is on to try to relocate the lone wolves.
When John Nelson was unable to reach Hadley, he takes on the mission to locate her. Already three enforcers were killed, will he be on time to save Hadley or will she be number four.
Thunder Wolf book #11 in Heather Long “Wolves of Willow Bend” series. With great characters and a cameo appearance by all the other characters from the prior books in this series. This story was fast pace, which fits right in with the other titles in the series.
If you haven’t read any of the previous titles in the series, then you must to at least familiarize yourself with the plot before trying to dive into this book. You would absolutely thank yourself for doing so.
This was not my usual genre, but I thought I would be adventurous. Really glad I did, it was a well written, book, with likeable characters.
Heather Long has written solid paranormal romance. Enjoyed! The plot was compelling and the romance was hot.
This is the eleventh story in this action packed shifter series and it would perhaps benefit the reader
to familiarise themselves with the previous characters and story-lines.
The US packs and lone wolves are still in danger from the Russian Volchitsa wolves who are now attacking the packs with increasing frequency.
The Enforcers endeavour to ensure the Lone Wolves aren't in danger and encourage them to move into areas where packs already are settled .
Now the Enforcers themselves are being target - tortured and killed ........... is this a continuation of the Volchitsa's plan to take over or is something else in play ?
Enforcer John Nelson is already covering a large area but comes to realise his fellow Enforcer Hadley Sexton might be the focus of an attack , someone is shadowing her .
The story plays out their growing feelings for each other against a backdrop flight and fight - trying to protect their wolves and each other .
This is an enthralling book in an excellent series and I look forward to the conclusion .
I would recommend the book and series to anyone who enjoys a 'shifter' thriller/romance with an excellent story-line and great characters .
I was given an ARC of this book by the publisher and netgalley in exchange for an honest review .
Hadley had been ordered that all lone wolves within her territory to gather because there was safety in numbers. Hadley knew Julian meant in groups of two or three not twelve like Hadley had gathered together. Hadley’s lone wolves had been alone for five years or more so keeping them all together with no problems would not be easy. Then Haley got a message Calitri- another Enforcer like Hadley was dead. Hadley and Calitri had trained together and at one time had been lovers. He was stubborn, strong, and funny and Hadley could not believe he was dead. When Hadley asked what had happened the answer was Volchitsa . Amy had come to do the autopsy which was an honor shown to the enforcers as Amy typically served the inner circle along side the alpha Serafina and her closest friends. At any given point the number of Enforcers did not rise above fifty . Lately they had been losing enforcers faster than they were gaining them. The Chief Enforcer was Julian. The Volchitsa had been making senseless moves with no rationale that they couldn’t understand until long after wards. The enforcers could not afford to stay so far behind. They were hunting Enforcers. Lone wolves were normally allowed their freedom as long as they followed the rules. John Loved Hadley but understood her need and loved of her freedom and doing things her way. Hadley felt being an Enforcer was like being a house mother at a sorority. John didn’t really like many wolves he was a true loner. John wondered if Julian knew the Alphas were chatting? Or were the Alphas beginning to make moves without the Enforcers? John would have to report to Julian that it sounded like if the Enforcers didn’t take care of the problem the U S packs were planning their own offenses. John was sent to Willow bend to question two Volchitsa prisoners one had killed himself before John could question him.The prisoners had GPS tracking devices in their noses. Then four more Volchitsa wolves attacked the Alpha’s pregnant mate in her home at Willow Bend. John killed the fourth wolf saving the pregnant wolf’s life. Hadley and her lone wolves had been attacked at the Lodge by six Russian wolves . One wolf- Herman was dead and two other wolves were seriously hurt. But Hadley waited until they were well enough to travel as wolves and the went to Oregon. Hadley got the lone wolves on planes to go packs except Peter and Hadley worried where Peter was and if he was okay and hurt over Herman’s death as Hadley had a very big and caring heart especially when it came to her lone wolves. Hadley started to a cabin that was suppose to be a safe place when she got close to the cabin she spotted three Volchitsa wolves. Hadley killed the two males and was fighting with the female when John appeared and killed the female. Hadley had wanted to question the female but could not now. Julian sent John an address of a safe house and it turned out to be Julian’s estate.
I loved this story all the way to the last page and it ended with a cliffhanger not a bad one but still I hate any kind of cliffhanger or this would definitely been a five rating. But I loved Hadley’s character she was tough, strong yet could be gentle and loving. I loved the action and intrigue in this story. The plot was great and I loved the way the story came together.. Julian was a good leader and I loved how John and Hadley came together. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story I recommend. I would give this a 4.5 if i could
