This was a very good read enjoyed the characters and the storyline I'm not a big fan of cowboy genre but this one impressed me I will read more. I highly recommend to read this book you won't be disappointed.
All of Kate Pearce books are phenomenal and this one is no different. Love the closeness of Ry and HW and the struggles of the difference between the two. Avery and Ry are so cute together and work through their problems together. Well written and looking forward to HW's story. Not sure how Pearce will redeem him after his behavior in this book, but it will be another good read of that I am sure!
This is actually the first book that I have read by Kate Pearce. I loved the book so much, but now I am going to have to buy the previous two books! And I cannot wait to read the next book! I had not read either of the previous two books, but I had no problem following along with what was happening in this book. There was so much turmoil in the book, and I could feel the pain from Ry. You knew that there was something big that came to light but eventually, but I was not expecting what actually happened! I am not going to give anything away, but you have to read the book for yourself. I loved Avery and Ry together, and they both helped each other out with their pasts and problems. I will be impatiently waiting for the next book, since there was a startling development in the last page of the book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
Ry Morgan is done with the rodeo and done with his twin brothers attitude. He heads back home to the family ranch where he runs into Avery Hayes. He had a thing for her as a teenager and left at 18 never looking back. Now she's older and he still feels that pull from her. They both have some serious things from their pasts to get through. Ry has some family issues with his missing mother and baby sister not to mention conflict with his twin brother. His brothers are trying to find out what happened to their mom and sister but Ry has mixed feelings about it. Avery was in a terrible accident with her riding horse several years ago and is still dealing the physical and emotional damage. Ry reaches out to Avery to help her and she returns the favor. This is one of those books that's a dream to read. I read through it really quick. Enjoyed the characters and the plot. One mystery is finally solved by the end of this book but some interesting stuff happens to really make you want to read the next book. All kind of emotional and serious stuff which the author handles perfectly. It was great to see a grown man get emotional and take comfort in his significant other. A great read and I am excited to see where this series goes next!

Fantastic read. This is a sweet and heartwarming story with a little mystery. It will capture your attention from the beginning. It's well written with characters that you will love. I enjoyed the connection and chemistry between Avery and Ry. Will they be able to help each other heal and have a future together? Looking forward to reading more. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
The Last Good Cowboy, by Kate Pearce is an interesting contemporary romance, which is focused on family dramatics and relationship drama.
Ry Morgan moves back home to the family ranch in California, after years on the rodeo circuit, where his twin brother is still competing. Since another Morgan brother is searching for their long-lost mother and sister, who disappeared over twenty years ago, Ry is trying to overcome the uncertainty of possibly meeting his mother again, as well as dealing with his recently unsteady relationship with his twin brother.
Shortly after arriving at the Morgan Ranch, Ry sees Avery Hayes again and he still has a secret crush on her. Ry has always wanted Avery, even when they were teenagers, yet his twin brother caused problems between them. Even though they both have changed in the eight years since high school, Ry and Avery build a new friendship as adults, which leads to more.
However, Avery is still struggling with lingering physical problems from a barrel racing accident, which lead to her current fear of horses. She's insecure and somewhat hiding at her family home and business, until she accepts a job at the Morgan Ranch. In addition to Ry and Avery's relationship, this story focused on their relationships with various family members and close friends. As the story unfolds, Ry and Avery are forced to deal with family complications and issues from the past affecting their future.
Since it's the third book in Morgan Ranch series, it's recommended to start with the first book, The Reluctant Cowboy, yet it's not necessary to read the books in order.
The Last Good Cowboy is geared towards those who enjoy reading modern romance stories.
Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I never liked cowboy stories until Kate Pearce introduced me to the Morgans. Now I'm a convert! Her descriptions are rich and realistic- you get a feel for what ranch life is really like. Pearce always has characters with depth. Both Ry and Avery have baggage from their past that effect how they relate to each other. The way she has her characters communicate makes sense and sucks you into the story. One of the things that makes this book special is it isn't just about the relationship between the two MC but also the relationships between siblings and their past. Pearce's characters never do exactly what you expect them to and her dialouge is quick, clever and provides the plot with momentum. Her cowboys are HOT... She always writes fantasitc love scenes and this book is no different. Secondary characters are engaging-
I really want Yvonne, Nancy and Dave to get stories. Nate finds his "the one" in an anthology that also just released. There's steam, a bit of mystery, ghosts from the past and facing fears. Well worth the read- while this is a stand alone, I highly recommend the whole series. I received an advanced copy for an honest review.
I love the Morgan Ranch series.
The Last Good Cowboy is the third book in the Morgan Ranch series. I strongly suggest that you read the books in order. While the romance between the main couple for each book is resolved, questions are left unanswered concerning an ongoing family mystery. Book three is similar in fashion, the relationship between Ry and Avery is resolved, and the ongoing family mystery is pretty much solved, but this one ends with a pretty big cliffhanger. I wouldn't classify it as the kind that left me dying to know what happens but I will be reading the next one.
I love Kate Pearce's writing. She just has a way with words that allows me to picture everything very vividly in my mind. Ry and his identical twin, HW aren't getting along too good and Ry has returned home to Morgan Ranch. Ry knew Avery when they were young and he kind of had a thing for her that HW ruined. The complicated family relationships in this story were very believable to me and I really enjoyed the depth that the rich cast of secondary characters added.
This is a great friends-to-lovers story. Once they reconnect as adults Avery and Ry realize that there's some pretty good chemistry between them but both of them have things from their pasts that haunt them.
This book made me laugh in places and tear up in others; my favorite kind. I was very pleased to learn that there will be at least one more story in this series and I'm looking forward to reading it.
A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.
Well written storyline and the well developed characters drew me into their story from the very beginning and kept me totally enthralled until the very last page!

The Last Good Cowboy is the third book in Kate Pearce’s Morgan Ranch series. While the books can technically be read on their own, the progression of events and understanding each brother’s POV is better followed by reading the series in order. And seriously, considering each of the Morgan men are very hot cowboys, why wouldn't you want to read about each and every one of them?
This book features Ry, one of the twins who are the youngest of the Morgan boys. Ry and Avery are an endearing couple, and the underlying story of the Morgan’s missing mother, kept me intrigued from beginning to end. I look forward to reading more of Ms Pearce’s books
This is the third book in the series. While it can be read as a standalone,
there is a continuing thread running through them.
Avery Hayes works in her family’s hotel. She is the events coordinator. She used to race barrels in the rodeo until her horse slipped and fell on her, shattering her left hip. It took a lot of rehab and hard work for her just to walk again.
Ry Morgan and HW are identical twins but they are very different. Ry has spent his life traveling around and living with HW on the rodeo circuit. They’ve always been close, but HW has surrounded himself with the wrong people. Ry is fed up with cleaning up after him, so he heads home to Morgan ranch to settle down and plant some roots.
Avery is helping January plan her wedding to Chase. When Avery goes out to the ranch for a meeting with January, she runs into Ry. She has had a thing for him since high school. And he for her, unbeknownst to Avery.
I liked watching Avery and Ry work it out. Their’s was an easy alliance. He was so patient and encouraging helping her overcome her fear of horses. He seemed to know just how far to push her and when to back off.
The Morgan brothers are held together by their grandma Ruth, who raised them. Their dad, Billy, is back on the ranch, and they are all trying to figure out how to make it work.
While Ry and Avery get their HEA, there is a cliffhanger at the end of the book. Not an unexpected one really. I look forward to the next book.

This was my first book by Kate Pearce and it won't be my last. As soon as I finished this book, I went and bought books 1 and 2 in the series. This is a great cowboy romance with an overarching mystery that runs through the series.
If you enjoy books about cowboys, sibling rivalry, and true love, then The Last Good Cowboy by Kate Pearce is for you. This is the third novel from the author's Morgan Ranch series and it can be read as a standalone.
Event planner Avery Hayes and rancher Ry Morgan have been friends since childhood, and more than liked each other during high school. After years of being on the road, Avery as a very successful barrel racer and Ry on the pro rodeo circuit, they are both back in their hometown of Morgantown, California. Since surviving an almost deadly fall and many surgeries, Ashley is finally looking forward to the future. Ry wants permanency, a little serenity, and a break from shepherding his twin brother, the rodeo superstar. Avery and Ry rekindle the old sparks while dealing with Avery's fear of horses, Ry's memories about his mentally ill mother, and Chase's wedding. Chase is Ry's brother who happens to be a millionaire.
This is an interesting story and the plot developed at a nice pace. However, with the introduction of so many characters in the beginning, it took me a little while to get everyone straight in my mind. I instantly bonded with Avery and Ry because they were extremely genuine and honest personalities. Their sexy times were replete with desire and caring. If you are in the mood for a cowboy-themed romance with a little bit of intrigue, some unique situations and fun, then pick up a copy of this book.

This Morgan Ranch Series has been some of the best writing that I have read by Kate Pearce. I have loved each of the stories including Ry’s in The Last Good Cowboy. While each of the novels can be read in any order, I personally feel the order in which they were released is still the best.
Kate Pearce has out done herself with Ry’s coming home with a second chance at love story. It is an amazingly written story with a focus on the memorable characters of Ry and Avery. While their story is dramatic, I would not say it is full of drama. It is an emotional while still being a down-to-earth kind of read. There is the subplot which has been in all three brothers’ stories concerning their childhood experiences.
I highly recommend this mainstream contemporary cowboy series whether you like cowboys or not. All are not equal with the Morgan men being a cut above the rest.
Great addition to this series as we learn more about the Morgan mysteries. Ry is tired of being his brother’s keeper and decides to head home and help with the family ranch. Avery always felt something for Ry but his twin brother ruined it in high school when he pretended to be Ry and steal a kiss. No reunited and after having been through so much can Ry and Avery find a way to be together? This is a fast paced read with lots of drama and suspense, we get to learn more about what happened on the Morgan Ranch when the boys were young. Great characters and an entertaining story. Looking forward to more.
'The Last Good Cowboy ' by Kate Pearce is book Three in the "Morgan Ranch" series. This is the story of Avery Hayes and Ry Morgan. I haven't read the previous book so for me this was a standalone book.
Ry has a twin brother HW who Ry has been leaving in his shadow it seems. Ry is moving forward to be more independent and taking steps back from HW. That has lead him to return home and to connect back with Avery. Ry has ended his Rodeo Circuit and wants to work on the family ranch more. Avery has always had a crush on Ry but when she was younger and the twin boys were 18 years old a misunderstand of sorts happened. Avery thought she had kissed Ry only to find that it was HW. This has caused hurt feelings with Avery. Now in the present day Avery is trying to deal with the lost of her career after an accident. Ry has decided make a life change also with Avery by moving forward with trying to have a relationship with her. Can they move forward and get past their obstacles to be together?

The Last Good Cowboy is the 3rd book in Kate Pearce's Morgan Ranch series. I am amazed at how Ms. Pearce keeps cranking out hit after hit and this story was no exception. Definitely one of my favorites.
Ry and Avery were both very likable characters who had to deal with the ghosts of their past. Very enjoyable story and a great addition to the series. Be prepared for some twists surrounding the hunt for their mother and sister.
Superb story and I cannot wait to see what Ms. Pearce has in store for us next.
I received a review copy from the publisher/author via NetGalley.
The Last Good Cowboy is an excellent book. It is a third book in the Morgan family story. It can be read as a stand-alone book, but it does have a back story that may be confusing at times if read as a stand-alone. This is my favorite of the series so far. It contained many elements, romance, mystery, personal rehabilitation, and sibling rivalry. The romance was a second chance attempt and it had its ups and downs, but in the end love prevailed (which I love to read). Some of the twist the romance took were a surprise, which made for a great read. It was written at a great pace, enough back story to have a real feel for the emotions involved, but not too much as to get boring. Great story, I would highly recommend it.
What a great second chance romance. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Ry and Avery. Both have scars and demons from the past and together they help and heal each other. The connection felt genuine and not a forced insta-love type story. The battles and memories they have to overcome are heartbreaking and emotional. The love and affection they have for each other is abundantly clear.
This is the first book I've read in the Morgan Ranch series and even though it's book three, I didn't feel lost, so this can definitely be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed the setting, the family, the whole feeling of the story, I will be going back to the beginning to read books one and two. I fell in love with the Morgan boys and can't wait to read all about them.
I volunteered to read and give an unbiased review of an advanced copy through NetGalley and the publisher.
I’ve enjoyed all the books in Kate Pearce’s Morgan Ranch series, including this latest installment—The Last Good Cowboy. I’m not much of a cowboy romance fan, but the Morgan brothers and their fantastic grandmother have me thinking about changing my opinion and learning to ride a horse. (Okay, I’m not really going to ride any horses, but you know what I mean!)
Ry Morgan left the professional rodeo circuit and has returned to work on his family’s ranch in Morgantown, California. Once he is back in town, he sees high school friend, Avery Hayes, again. Avery also competed in the rodeo, but she was severely injured when a horse fell on top of her and has spent years having surgeries and recovering. She’s lucky to be alive and walking, but she is also still in pain and struggling to return to normal.
Ry and Avery are attracted to each other and share an easy repartee, and he makes it his mission to bring Avery back into the land of the living. He is compassionate and patient as he helps to bring her out of her shell and motivates her to take the first steps to heal from her traumatic accident. His brothers and grandmother are all included in the story and rooting for her, and I really do love the Morgans. The Last Good Cowboy is a sweet love story, but it is also brimming with sexual tension and heartfelt romance.
