This is the 3rd book in the Morgan Ranch series and the first book I’ve read of Kate Pearce’s. This story follows Ry Morgan, who decides to quite the pro rodeo circuit and return home and work on the family’s ranch. He has always liked Avery and reconnects with her when he returns. Avery is recovering from a rodeo accident and is looking to find her place in her career and life as the people closest to her seem to baby her because of her injuries.

I didn’t realize this was the 3rd book in a series when I started reading it. With that being said however, this book could be read standalone, as I did. The first 2 books seem to follow the other brothers but you can still follow along with the story. It was a good book that explored recovering from an accident and how hard physically and mentally that can be; I thought this story portrayed that quite well. This was an excellent book and I am going to rent the first 2 books in the series to catch up.

My favorite of the series so far. I adore second chance stories. I love both of these characters. I'm so delighted Kate wrote this story about how they grow to trust each other and become each other's cheerleaders. Kate is so good at crafting characters and how love can mend and transform their souls. Through all this she weaves the healing of the family fracture so creatively. Just love it!

Ry is a twin. He and his brother traded places often and very few people could tell them apart. Avery could, she watched them. She knew the quieter one, not the show off was Ry. She was younger than them. When the other twin steals a kiss from Avery when she thinks it's Ry, everything is ruined. Ry comes from a fractured family and he and his brother take off at graduation for the rodeo circuit, never to return home. Time passes. Ry's brother becomes a star of the circuit and Ry doesn't. He's finally just done with it all and goes home. And there's Avery, also lost. She was a really good barrel racer and got hurt. She's walking by sheer willpower. Ry is blown away by her strength and determination. She falls for his loving heart. Awesome story.

Thank you Kate and Kensington for giving me the opportunity to read and review this series. It's a privilege.

Competing with siblings, you know how that goes if you are one. It is not always pretty but you will always love them. That is true of both Ry and Avery. Seeing them work together on their relationship was special and lovely and so enjoyable to read. Ms. Pearce’s writing flows nicely and is a joy to read. If you need a relaxing weekend or beach read, pick these books up and fall in love with the Morgans. They can be read as standalones but there is a mystery running through them. In fact, there is a surprise in the last line of this book.

Get ready for another sexy Morgan brother! Yes, this is a standalone book however I highly recommend that you read the entire series. This family will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you happy. This story is about Ry Morgan, one of the twin brothers, and Avery Hayes, someone who went to school with the twins and yes, there is a backstory here.

There is so much I’d like to tell you however I would not do the story justice. Just as I did with Chase and Blue in the previous two stories, I fell in love with Ry. (Love all their names, btw, so be sure to catch the explanations when you read the stories.) He has to come to terms with leaving his twin to deal with his (twin’s) own life – for the very first time – and coming back “home” to Morgan Ranch and his brothers…and father…and more family drama. He turned out to be a great character, lots of depth and just enough bend to make me happy. Avery also has a tragic backstory that will break your heart BUT she is strong and willful and determined to live her life as she wishes. I found her strength to be a refreshing side of her character; I liked her. And Avery and Ry together? Get ready for the sparks! Avery’s family also has roles that they each play, like Ry’s does, but her character pulls her thru.

And the ending…get ready for a curveball that (for me) is the hook to the next story. Now I can’t wait to read more. But read The Last Good Cowboy and the previous two books; you won’t be sorry.

Such a touching heartwarming story! Avery - losing her dream of becoming a rodeo star due to a seriously injury that has not only left her physically scarred but emotionally too. Ry - left the pro rodeo circuit after 8 years to return home to work on the family's ranch, facing the nightmares from his past involving his mother who abandoned the Morgan boys at a young age.

The characters feel like real life individuals dealing with real life issues. Ry's gentle way in helping Avery gain her confidence back, overcoming her fear of horses, etc. is so touching. And Avery, although struggling with her own issues, helps Ry in facing his own issues as well. They balance each other so well - it was a joy watching their story unfold.

I definitely recommend this book and am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series!

The Last Good Cowboy by Kate Pearce is a phenomenal read. Ms Pearce has given us a well-written book and furnished it with amazing, lovable characters. Ry and Avery's story is full of humor, drama with bits of suspense, action and sizzle. This story has it all. I love the way the author had the story unfold. I enjoyed reading The Last Good Cowboy and look forward to reading many more books from Kate Pearce in the future. The Last Good Cowboy is book 3 of the Morgan Ranch Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

The Morgan Brothers run a ranch along with their dad, grandmother and ranch hand, Roy. This book is about one of the rodeo-loving twin brothers, Ry. (Real name, Rowdy Yates Morgan!) Ry comes back to work on the ranch and runs into his old heartthrob, Avery Hayes. Great story, great author who really delivers in-depth characters. I loved this sweet story and have read number 1 of the series before. (It could be read alone). I really enjoyed it and recommend it to all contemporary romance and cowboy lovers. I laughed out loud when I read Ry's real name. Had to wonder if any younger readers would know Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates on the old TV series, Rawhide! Then it occurred to me that Ry WAS a Rowdy Yates lookalike! Made the story that much more fun! Head 'em up, move 'em out!

The Last Good Cowboy by Kate Pearce will be available April 24, 2017 by Zebra Books, an imprint of Kensington Book Corp. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

Who doesn't love a cowboy? I haven't meet anyone yet. I love me a good cowboy romance with the next person. Pearce did a great job with this one!

Well-written drama even though the premise was a little silly. I thought surely there was more to it than a kiss from the wrong twin, I mean...big deal.

The "good twin, bad twin" story had sufficient depth to be interesting. It's always sad to see what substance abuse can do to a family.

The romantic relationship between the two characters was interesting to watch unfold, with all the hard feelings and circumstances.

Pearce's latest in her Morgan Ranch series is my favorite.

Ry Morgan is a twin, and the handling of the baggage this has brought to his life is deftly and realistically explained. Avery Hayes has her own baggage and insecurities, most of which stem from her barrel racing accident and subsequent limp. These characters are rich and interesting, and the supporting cast is also surprisingly layered. I definitely rooted for the couples' romance, and thought it was compellingly written.

4 solid stars.

4.5 Stars The Last Good Cowboy is the third book in the Morgan Ranch series and I must say I am loving these books.
Ry and Avery captured my heart and the underlying story of the Morgan’s’ missing mother, kept me invested in the story from beginning to end. I am loving this author and look forward to reading more of her books

I love this series and the Morgan men, all named after characters from old tv westerns (whihc I watched with my grandfather when I was young). The books really need to be read in order to understand the family dynamics and how what happened to the boys when they were young affected each differently and how they each coped. This book is about Ry (Rowdy Yates-think young Clint Eastwood). He is one of identical twins. He and his brother HW took off from the ranch at eighteen to follow the pro rodeo circuit. While HW has made his mark, Ry never really had the drive to succeed and has been supporting his brother, until he was tired of it all and came home. He had always had a thing for neighbor Avery Hayes, and comes home to find that after a horrible rodeo accident is no longer the vibrant young woman he knew. He is going to fix that. Meanwhile older brother Chase is still looking for their mother who disappeared with their baby sister when the boys were all still young. More is revealed about what exactly happened that fateful night. I received a ARC from netgalley.com.

Within the story of Ry and Avery, is the hunt for the Morgan brothers' mom. You might be disappointed in the outcome but more questions are answered.
Avery has been trying to move past her fears after she was almost killed by her horse 7 years before. Even though she has always had a thing for Ry Morgan, she's reluctant to let him into her life. Just one more fear she doesn't want to face.
Ry knows he wants Avery, but he's not sure she'll ever be able to accept him as damaged as he is from the day his mother left, when he was 5. He knows there are memories he can't quite grasp but will need to face, in order to move forward with Avery.
They both have demons to face but will some of the answers from Ry's past be enough? And a surprise ending will leave you reeling!
5 stars!!

Love the Morgan brothers. Ry and Avery's romance along with Morgan family drama makes the book a great read. Highly recommend this book as it will not disappoint.

This is the third book in the Morgan Ranch series. Technically, the books can be read on their own but I think the secondary storyline concerning the Morgan's missing mother is much better if you read all the books in order. And besides considering each of the Morgan men are very hot cowboys, why wouldn't you want to read all of the series?
This book features Ry, one of the twins who are the youngest of the Morgan boys. Ry is finally trying to lie on his own without being in the shadow of his twin brother. Even if that means going home to the family ranch that brings back some rather painful memories. But it also means being closer to his high school crush, Avery. So while Ry needs to deal with his difficult past, Avery needs to deal with the fact that a life altering accident years ago is in many ways still impacting her daily life. Avery and Ry make a great couple in that they are able to complement one another and help each other with their personal issues. Overall a great contemporary romance that ends with a surprise visit that definitely has me wanting to read the next book!

Reading through this series about the Morgan brothers, the author has stayed true to the underlying story and the brothers' lives and challenges. Ry and Avery's story is sweet and touching...each needing each other to uncover and recover from their pasts. The uniqueness of each of the characters makes for an interesting story...there is no shortage of chemistry, some intrigue, and most of all love and caring.

I have enjoyed reading about the loves and trails of Chase, Blue and Ry, now waiting for HW's story and the reconnection of their sister Rachel. I expect their stories will be no less heart stirring.

Sweet western romantic tale about the healing of two hurting souls, told with humor and intrigue and dotted with bouts of hot sex.
Ry Morgan returns home to the ranch he grew up on, despite the horrors he lived in his past there, and despite his twin, HW's aversion to the place. He needed to go home and build a life for himself.
After a terrible barrel racing accident Avery Hayes never left home, helping her parents run their hotel and hiding away from anything outside her comfort zone.
They grew up together and felt deeply for each other, each too unsure of themselves to reach out and grab what they really wanted.
Being thrown together, arranging for Ry's brother's upcoming wedding, they gradually reached out, and with more than a few interruptions in their plans found a happy-ever-after.
The twists and turns and character interaction will keep you turning the pages. I loved it.
I requested and received an ARC from NetGalley. Lucky me!

Full review to be published online in late April.

In THE LAST GOOD COWBOY, it’s finally Ry Morgan’s turn for his story. After ‘the incident’ years ago at the high school Prom; Avery has had to shelve her feelings for Ty, due to the callous intervention of his twin brother. Avery has had it hard the past few years. She hates the pity that some people feel for her, and just wants to get on with her life. As for Ry, he is tired of living in his twin’s shadow. After leaving the Pro Rodeo circuit, he has finally found what he wants to do with his life and is happy. Finding Avery again was a nice bonus, and they reconnect again almost right away. It’s great to see their relationship pick up again, albeit a bit too sweetly and with few difficulties to overcome. Little has really changed with or between the characters.

THE LAST GOOD COWBOY is the third book in Kate Pearce’s “Morgan Ranch” series. The books have a nice setting and warm, well drawn characters to spice up an overly sweet series. Although quite enjoyable reads, it would be good to have the tension in the storylines to be upped a bit.
