A beautifully romantic story that asks the question - what if you met the right person at the wrong time?
Kiran and Mason are both holidaying solo in Florida. They are staying at the same hotel, both needing to get away from the real world for a little bit while they prepare for the next stage of their lives - Kiran is making major life decisions about her career while Mason has just finished Marine boot camp and is about to deploy overseas.
It’s the absolute wrong time for either of them to be meeting somebody, but neither of them can resist the draw, and they start hanging out together. With nothing to lose, they talk about everything, they are open and honest with each other, and Mason helps Kiran deal with some personal issues she’s trying to overcome, encouraging her to be brave and bold and live the life she wants. And in the middle of some fantastic banter and flirting, they become friends and they fall completely and utterly in love.
They always knew the end of their time together was coming, but at the end of their eight days, neither of them are ready to say goodbye. So, they make plans to go their separate ways and do what they need to do, and if they still feel the same in five years when Mason has finished his deployment, they will meet up again.
“This is unfair.”
“It’s a raw hand. But sweetheart, know this, I wouldn’t trade these days for anything in the entire world. We just met at the wrong time.”
It’s a beautiful, beautiful romance, and I loved watching Kiran and Mason fall for each other. It’s so easy and natural! They laugh and banter, they are sweet and swoony, and they have an incredible passion for each other. I could feel everything along with them as they fell so easily in love, and I loved every moment of it.
But five years is a long time, and life will change in ways they never could have imagined. And so, we get the second-chance portion of the story, which brings the drama and the feels, but maintains the romance that I loved so much about their whirlwind beginning.
“If you let me, I’ll love you till my last breath.”
I really enjoyed this book. It’s functional and romantic, with just the right amount of drama, and I finished it with a huge smile on my face.
Just gorgeous – 4 stars.

I don't actually want to rate this book 2.5 stars because it had so much potential, but it took me ages to finish it and I had issues with the pacing, so it's time to face reality.
When I started this book I was deeply, deeply excited. First of all, we get a contemporary romance with an Indian girl as the MC, which was a pleasant surprise for me because the cover is vague and the names didn't give me a hint. I can't ever recall reading a romance with a girl of Indian heritage as an MC (shameful, I know), so I was pretty excited by that fact alone.
The story also had one of my favorite themes. Ever since I was in a freak explosion accident, I've had a scar across my upper lip. For a long time it was very conspicuous and I was deeply self-conscious about it. Thanks to a great plastic surgeon, you can barely see my scar, but I now feel this intense connection to any MC that has scarring or disfigurement, especially a female MC. I actively seek these types of stories out, and though this one took me by surprise, it was a very, very pleasant surprise.
I think the author was on the right track with the story. There was a good connection at the beginning and things seemed very promising. However, everything just progressed way too quickly for my liking.
The female MC, Kiran, went from so self-conscious that she was hiding in sweatshirts at the beginning of the story to seemingly no fears after a few days with the male MC. They moved at a really fast pace, and the intimacy happened much too quickly for my liking. I like a really slow burn, and I like issues to feel like they resolve organically, not just that you can suddenly get over your insecurities after one day with a hot guy. I just didn't buy that.
I also think that the little twist happened way too coincidentally and way too early in the story. I felt like the plot was wrapping up at 35% because so much happened in such a short period of time. Then things took a turn and the plot got more complicated, but it was too insta-lovey for me already by that point. Gah, I just hate insta-love.
I think other readers might find themselves in the groove with this story, however I found myself drifting farther and farther from these characters. I kept putting the book down and struggling to find motivation to pick it back up, which is the kiss of death for me.
I don't want to discourage other readers from trying this one because there was some real good there, but between the pacing, the time jump, and the insta-love, it just wasn't exactly my bag.

I really enjoyed this story. While I have to admit that having a five-year timeline was a long stretch for a book, I really think that Schiller pulled it off.
Kiran is awesome. She doesn't really take crap from anyone, doesn't really know where she fits in to life, and despite her reservations, doesn't really let that hold her back.
When she meets Mason, not only does she open her heart, but she opens his too. They also have a history that comes to light, and when that does, it just helps to develop their story.
Mason and Kiran have a lot to overcome but both live out their dreams. I can't say too much without giving away the story, but this is filled with love, emotion, and despair, all wrapped into this awesome story.
A really well written enjoyable immersive read. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author
What a beautiful, emotional story. Eight Days in the Sun wasn't what I expected it to be and I love when that happens with a book. Kiran and Mason meet while on vacation and spend eight days in the sun learning each other's secrets and falling in love. They share things with each other that they've never shared with others. It helps heal each of them in ways they didn't expect and it completely changes them in such a short time. They both have prior responsibilities that pull them apart after the eight days and when they finally meet again everything has changed. Although the feelings are still there, time and unexpected circumstances make finding their way back to each other harder than they thought it would be. The story really shows how love can endure all things. Make sure to have the tissues ready when you read this one!!

This is one of those books that was completely different from what I expected. While technically I can say the book description on Goodreads and Amazon is true, it makes the story sound so much more light-hearted than it is. It still has some fun and lightness, but there is so much more to the story. A depth that was very unexpected. I loved this book!
As always, I’m going to do the best I can to not give anything away in the review. You know I hate spoilers! Just know, if anything is revealed it is completely accidental.
A little after Kiran and Mason get to know each other there are a few things that can be figured out about the trajectory of their relationship. About things that may have happened in the past and things that may happen in the future. The author does a wonderful job of building the relationship while giving us snippets of back story here and there…in other words great world building. It wasn’t long before I was in love with both characters and wanted more.
Both Mason and Kiran have some painful events in their past, but they’ve both turned out to be upstanding citizens. That seems to be a bond for them, something they see in each other that they latch onto. The romance and, more importantly, the friendship just make sense.
As their eight days are wrapping up there was just a pit in my stomach. It was brutally beautiful and had me shedding tears.
Truly there is not much I can say without giving something away you may not want to know before reading this book for yourself. Just trust me when I say you should pick it up for yourself and experience the love of Kiran and Mason for yourself. You won’t be sorry.
Three Girls are HUGE fans of author MK Schiller. She has the ability to write such emotion stories, but also light-hearted and fun ones too.
Eight Days in the Sun is one of her "deeper" stories that really takes you on a journey throughout the characters lives together. We can't wait to share this one with our followers and we can't wait for me from MK!
Eight Days in the Sun is a story of healing and acceptance. And it will make you cry. Around halfway through the story, when I could finally see the direction where the story was headed, I knew MK Schiller was going to make me cry by the end. Oh, the ending.
I loved both Mason and Kiran, each unique personalities, but also perfect for each other. Fans of insta-love stories will gobble this one up. Are eight days in the sun really enough to build a foundation for a lifelong relationship? I say, YES! We're with these characters day-in-day-out for eight glorious days and we get to experience the falling in love phase with them. My heart was breaking along with them when they went their separate ways ... and when they reunited.
I don't want to give away any more of the plot than the book blurb already does. But suffice it to say that taking the journey with these characters is worth the ride. You'll laugh, and cry. Be happy, and angry. But most of all, you'll walk away completely satisfied and believing in love at first sight.
