Naomi is such a sassy and strong heroine that isn't afraid to stand up for herself. Lucas is a loyal hero who can also be a bit stubborn. These two characters have gone through a lot and it's gone into detail in this story. We get to see how they overcome everything and fight to get their happily ever after.

The next book in the Rocky Mountain series will make you feel like aww. We have Lucas Cortez who in some ways is a hero at heart for what he did years ago. Many people though want him gone but it takes a woman like Naomi to make him see what he has been missing. The love they had years ago and the now is stronger than ever. Sara Richardson created a series fill of love, romance most of all a man seeing that every body deserves a second chance even a fallen cowboy like him. Loved it.

This was a sweet, heartfelt read. I enjoyed reading Lucas and Naomi’s story. I loved how wonderful he was to her daughter. I was a little mad at Lucas’s family regarding the secret, but liked the way it was resolved.

COMEBACK COWBOY is an enjoyable contemporary romance. I look forward to reading more from Sara Richardson.

I have to say, this is one of the best books I have read about small town living. I've never really lived in a small town myself, so when I read these stories and the people, sometimes I am really taken aback. This is one of those times. I think Sara Richardson did an exceptional job showcasing both the good and the not so good side of small-town living/mentality. Especially with Lucas' character. IMO, it was a realistic portrayal and made the story more relatable.

As a whole, this second chance romance, was a sure hit for me. I loved the set-up of the story and the unfolding of it as well. Small town living is not easy, from everything I have heard and read, and Lucas and Naomi had an uphill go of it. Gracie made the whole story even more endearing and fun. It was like a cherry to a sundae :)

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first:
Hometown Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders #1)

This is Naomi and Lucas’s story. Naomi is a single mother who has worked hard to provide for her daughter. She is finally on track. But when her high school sweetheart comes back to town she feels thing for him she thinks she should not. Lucas was coming to town for a quick trip that was until he bumped into Naomi. He knows he wants her but can he stay for her? He wants not only her but her daughter forever. But will she give him a second chance? What happens when secrets come out? Will it ruin everything or bring them closer?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

I have found my new favorite cowboys, the Cortez, in Sara Richardson’s Comeback Cowboy. This book was not what I was expecting. One, it was more difficult for Lucas and Naomi to accept each other into their lives after being apart for so long. Two, Naomi’s hidden card regarding her daughter’s biological father. Three, things building up for what I expect to be Levi’s redemption story coming up in the next book. And, four, the girls in the book club are just the kind of girls I need in my life.

“Hot Damn!” Darla popped out of her chair. “What’re we waiting for? Field trip! Not that discussing historical thrillers isn’t interesting,” she quickly added. “But I do love the sight of a man in uniform.” And she also loved teasing poor Dev about how much she loved the sight of a man in uniform.

Comeback Cowboys has a really good story within its characters. Naomi isn’t your typical damsel in distress, she is a fierce young woman who will do anything to provide for her daughter and at the same time pursue her dreams. She doesn’t run away from danger demonstrating to Lucas that she isn’t afraid of the town’s gossip or those who threaten her to get to him. And when it comes to love, she sets the rules because she is not letting 10 years pass by again.

Lucas has a more difficult time coping with the idea that he can start all over again with Naomi without hurting her and her daughter. I hadn’t seen a male character so distress in a while. Lucas showed the readers his vulnerable side a couple of times during the book, but at the end, and after a lot of effort from him and his loved ones he was able to get Naomi back.

Comeback Cowboy involved a lot of teamwork from its characters throughout the story proving unity among them, delivering some memorable scenes. The ending could have not been better. I can only say little because you have to read it, but it was great. I really look forward reading what happens in the next book. Meanwhile, I recommend you read Comeback Cowboy for a refreshing and quick pace story.

A single mother, second chance romance, and a cowboy - what more could a girl ask for?!? I LOVED Naomi - her fierce independence, sass, and grit, as well as Lucas and his determination and patience and downright sexiness. There was A LOT going on, but for me it just made the story a page turner. I really enjoyed the focus on small town living (the good and bad aspects of it) and really related to Naomi's relationship with her daughter (once upon a time, I was a single mom to a little girl too), as well as Lucas need for a second chance in life after making a mistake (and how hard that can be to attain when inundated by the judgement of others). I will definitely go back and read the first book in the series and I look forward to moving on with the upcoming ones too. I give Comeback Cowboy 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Comeback Cowboy by Sara Richardson was a well written, heartwarming second chance romance and I really enjoyed it.

Lucas and Naomi were likeable, endearing characters that I easily connected with. My heart went out to them and everything they've been through, these two totally earned their happily ever after.

Comeback Cowboy is the second book from the Rocky Mountain Riders series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them all.

Comeback Cowboy is a sweet second chance romance story. I liked that the author didn't always choose the obvious direction with things--we find out pretty quickly who's the father of her ten-year-old daughter instead of dragging out the drama and suspense, for example, and even though it did sometimes look like one of the main characters was going to make a run for it in the other's "best interest" they had adult conversations about what was going on instead and made decisions together. What a novel idea! ;)

Though some of the outcomes here almost seemed to come too easily, this is a sweet story with likable characters who really do deserve their HEA, even if the worst trials happened before the book even began...it's not worth getting worked up about it; just go with the easy-reading flow and you'll be glad you did.

Although it's the second in the series, this book worked just fine as a standalone. The hero and heroine from book one appear quite a bit--Lance is Lucas's brother, and Jessa is Naomi's good friend--so I've already added book one ( Hometown Cowboy ) to my TBR. It looks like the youngest brother, Levi, will have the next book ( Renegade Cowboy ) so I might as well add that one too, while I'm at it :)

Naomi and Lucas had a heart-breaking past and even more heartache to deal with in this story. However, watching them get reacquainted and how she stood up for him when others in town really, really didn't want him around.

Naomi has been working at Cortez Ranch for ten years. Throughout that time, thanks to her friendship with the family and living there for free, she has managed to save money and is about to fulfill her dream: to buy Potter Residence and build her Bed & Breakfast.
Her marriage didn't work. Mark, her ex-husband, screw up everything as soon as Naomi announced she was pregnant. He simply abandoned them.
Gracie was 10 years old and was a healthy and happy girl.
Everything seemed to go well, but since last Fall, Naomi had a new problem, and this one was tall, handsome, charming and had a history in the past with her: Lucas Cortez.

Lucas had been arrested 10 years ago, accused of having burned down a stable, killed two bulls and ruined the town's chance of hosting a rodeo. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison but left earlier for good behavior. He decided he would not go back to Topaz Falls because he knew the city would not welcome him with open arms. Instead, he went to work for Bill McGowen and made the businessman in the world of rodeos get even richer.
But since his father was diagnosed with Parkinson's, Lucas came to town.
And he was harassed.
Except for Naomi.
However, she seemed to avoid him and only later he found out why.

A story about second chances and about judging people without knowing their real story.

Comeback Cowboy is the second book in the Rocky Mountain Riders series, however it can be read as a standalone. I never can get enough of a good second chance love story. Add in a sexy, sweet talking Cowboy, and you have me hooked. This one is sweet, emotional, and full of twists and turns that I didn't see coming.
Lucas is just trying to move on from a past that still haunts him, and has kept him from home, and the only girl he has ever loved, for years. Now he is back in the small town of Topaz Falls. His family is thrilled to have him home, but some people in town are not so accepting of the bad boy being in town and are determined to let him know.
Naomi is a single mom just trying to do what is best for her little girl. She is has been taking care of her daughter, Gracie, by herself for 10 years, she is about to open her own bed and breakfast, and make a home for herself and Gracie. When the first and only man she has ever loved comes back to town she is determined to steer clear of him. She does not need a man to come into their lives only to leave again.
Will the town succeed in running Lucas back off again? Or will Lucas and Naomi be able to move on together and heal? Pick up Comeback Cowboy to find out. You will not be disappointed.

I love second-chance, secret baby, and small town romances. So reading Comeback Cowboy is like hitting the jackpot, since it has all three of those tropes. However, something unusual about this story is that the author chose to reveal all the dirty laundry right up front. Instead of dragging out what tore the couple apart, hiding the child’s paternity, and dragging the drama out for as long as possible to milk the angst for everything it could be worth, the issues are laid out so the couple can get on with dealing with them. And I really liked that.

Naomi Sullivan and Lucas Cortez were highschool sweethearts, destined to get married and live happily ever after until Lucas confessed to starting a fire that burned down the town’s rodeo arena, earning him the ire and scorn of Topaz Falls. After a three year prison sentence, Lucas doesn’t return home, leaving behind his family and the love of his life.

Ten years later, his father’s ill health has Lucas returning home. Naomi is now a divorced single mother and works for the Cortez family ranch, but does her best to stay away from Lucas. After being abandoned by her ex-husband shortly after her daughter’s birth, she’s focused on raising her daughter and opening a new bed and breakfast.

The town of Topaz Falls has been good to Naomi, coming along side her to help raise Gracie. A sense of community is one of the best things about living in a small town. But small towns also tend to have a long memory, and certain people in town aren’t happy that Lucas is back, and are willing to go to great lengths to run him off. So instead of just being able to deal with their own issues, Lucas and Naomi also have to contend with the nefarious meddling of people from the past.

There were several things that were cliched about this story, but the author did a good job of also throwing some different things in the book to give it originality. When it becomes clear that staying in Topaz Falls is going to make things difficult for Naomi’s daughter, Lucas decides it’s best to walk away. Instead of disappearing again and leaving Naomi to wonder what happened, Lucas tells her what he’s thinking and they talk about it. What a novel concept that is for a good majority of today’s books!!! Even the “secret baby” storyline didn’t run the usual course, and I really liked that.

I would have liked a little more of Lucas and Naomi’s backstory – I feel that’s an important aspect in making a second-chance love story work. A reader needs to understand why the hero and heroine are still stuck on each other after so much time apart! But we got to experience Lucas and Naomi falling in love the second time, and that is what made this story work. Despite all the cliched aspects, this was a lovely story that I enjoyed reading. It didn’t have me staying up late to read because I was so roped into the characters and their story, but that’s okay. Not every story needs to be like tackling a bucking bull. Sometimes it’s good to read a nice, sweet story, and Comeback Cowboy was a pleasant ride.

If a second chance love story is one of your guilty pleasures, as it is mine, then I’d imagine that you’d love Comeback Cowboy. Once Lucas and Naomi’s feet were set on a path that would lead them to a happy future. Right up until Lucas made a decision that he would pay for in so many unfair ways. Naomi had no choice but to move forward with her life, a life that didn’t work out the way she’d hoped – except for her daughter, Gracie. Now a single parent her focus in on giving her daughter the best life possible, keeping her head down against the local gossips and simply living a good life in her small town. All that changed when Lucas came back to down. Now she had to make her own decision. Follow logic or follow her heart once again.

I enjoyed Comeback Cowboy so very much. It pulled me into the story with interesting characters, a story line that made sense and was believable, along with some nasty people to loathe along the way. Sometimes even a romance needs a good villain. Watching Lucas and Naomi reconnect, make choices that would lead them back to the happiness path was a delightful journey. Oh sure, there are twists and turns along the way. Nothing worthwhile comes too easily, but they stick, they find a way back to each other… and in the end a love that never grew cold would bring them their happy ending. Gracie is adorable and quite the perfect little one to steal a scene here and there. The rough moments felt so real, the tender moments were worth the fight and I simply enjoyed the heck out of this couple. Sometimes you do get a second chance, not a do over, that’s unrealistic but a chance to rekindle a love that never stopped, facing the present and the future together – now that’s a worthwhile goal.

I would recommend this story and this series to any Romance reader. You’ll find believable characters, a good, solid story line, secondary characters to love or hate and a love worth fighting for.

This is the second book in a series but enjoyable as a standalone.

Naomi Sullivan is a single mother who never got over her first love, Lucas Cortez. They had a high school romance that was severed when Lucas was incarcerated for arson, supposedly burning a rodeo stadium that devastated their small-town Colorado community. She never learned if the baby she carried was Lucas’ daughter, or that of her husband, Mark, who took off while Gracie was just an infant.

So, ten years pass and Naomi’s saved a lot of money working for and living on the Cortez Ranch, but she’s ready to spread her wings and build a Bed and Breakfast business in one of the Victorian houses that line the Main Street. Lucas returned to their town several months ago, and Naomi’s been careful to keep her distance. She still find him attractive and doesn’t want her heart broken again whenever he decides to move one. Thing is, Lucas has been pining for Naomi many a long year. That she’s single is a boon, but he’s not sure he should remain in the town–he’s had a lot of shade thrown his way from residents still bitter over the fire. When Mark comes to town, claiming to want a relationship with Gracie, Naomi drops her paternity bomb, and it blows Lucas away. Could he have sacrificed all those years and missed his daughter growing up?

So, there’s a bit of drama here, and I felt the timelines were all a little sketchy. Goodness knows, if I’d loved Lucas as hard as Naomi claimed, I wouldn’t have been intimate with his friend Mark within enough days of Lucas’ arrest to make a possibility of pregnancy by Mark a remote possibility. For me that was baffling and added unnecessary melodrama. That said, all the other parts felt very real, and the connection that Naomi has with her daughter–us against the world–is sweet. Also, both Mark and Lucas are decent guys, for the most part, if you can forgive their horrible choices. Lucas is easier to forgive–his were self-less; Mark was a Grade-A horse pa-toot, but we forgive much based on age and maturity, and he lacked both when he coasted off.

Expect a lot of thwarted sexytimes, as Naomi juggles motherhood and romance when she and Lucas finally connect. Also, expect some heartfelt struggles for Naomi, who experiences the very real fear of loss as her daughter begins to build a relationship with her father. I thought that was handled realistically well, and I liked how those plotlines unfolded. I mention “redemption” in my blog title because both Lucas and Mark experience it in their dealings with Naomi, but Lucas’ experience is more global and has more impact on Naomi’s life. I liked the story, and connected with the characters, so I’d recommend it for readers who like a bit of a slow burn and cowboys who not only make good on long-made promises, but who also poke bulls for fun.

I was so excited to read this book because I got a little taste of Lucas and Naomi's relationship in book 1 and I was intrigued. Book 2 of the Rocky Mountains Riders series brings patience, forgiveness, and honesty to the forefront. Our hero, Lucas, is back in town to help take care of his sick father who has Parkinson's. Returning home means Lucas has to face his past and most importantly face Naomi, his high school sweetheart whom he left behind 10 years ago. When Lucas was 17 he went to prison for a crime that he did not commit and with the sentence of solitary confinement, came the hard decision to leave Naomi behind. If you have read book one then you know that Lucas took the wrap for his younger brother Levi, who really started the fire. Their reunion would have been beautiful except, Naomi is avoiding Lucas like a plague and is holding a life changing secret.

This book was emotional, raw and so realistic. Naomi was a good female lead and I was right there with her during her journey to forgive Lucas and the struggles of being a single parent. Lucas' character had a big heart and I was so glad that he got his happily ever after. The family dynamic is beautiful and the bond that these brothers have is unbreakable. Though this book did not have a lot of heat, it made up with heart, good dialogue, and a beautiful epilogue.

ON another note, there was a pacing issue. This entire book takes place in a span of 3 weeks. A person would think that after being separated for 10 years that it would take a little longer for their relationship to develop, but nope, this story goes all in. In the middle of the book, the story had begun to lose its intensity and edge, but luckily the story quickly picks up again. They were doing a lot of making out and I found myself wondering, Where is the fight?.

Beside these couple of flaws, the book was a solid read. A small town setting with a cowboy with a big heart, this story is sure to make you emotional and rejoice all in the same breath. I cannot wait for book 3. :) Awesome.

'd been so intrigued by Naomi and Lucas' story from their appearance in Hometown Cowboy, that I couldn't wait to dive into Comeback Cowboy.

I'd loved Naomi's strength, charm and wit in Hometown Cowboy that I was dying to learn all the back history between Lucas and her and I had to know how their re-connection panned out. If it panned out.

I adored Lucas from the start. He was in such a bad position due to choices made back when he and his brothers were so young. But he made the best of the situation, even though he didn't have an easy time working his way back into his hometown, Topaz Falls.

I couldn't help but root for Naomi and Lucas to get back together--to make things right again. I'm fully on board with the Cortez family and can't wait for Levi's story, now that the truth is out!

A WOMAN NEVER FORGETS HER FIRST COWBOY . . . As a single mother, Naomi Sullivan is used to doing things on her own. She's finally saved enough from working at the Cortez Ranch to buy a lovely home for her and her little girl. Life is going as planned. But when her high school sweetheart comes riding back to town, this self-sufficient woman feels something she hasn't felt in years: red-hot, unbridled need for the handsome cowboy who left her behind.

Lucas Cortez doesn't plan on being in town long. Yet when he sees Naomi again-the gorgeous girl he never stopped loving-he's tempted to hang up his hat and stay awhile. He's already charmed his way into her daughter's heart, but he'll need more than sweet talk and roses to convince Naomi to give them a second chance-especially when she's hiding a secret that could change their lives forever . . .

I really love Sara's writing and her way of story-telling. There's a pretty obvious trope in this story that has you hoping that it's the hero but alas it's not. That was different and I was left sitting on my chaise going "Say what?"

This book is a little different in that the hero is a felon. Not many times do you read a sweet romance with a cute cover and the dude is an ex-con! Lucas is all types of Alpha male and he's broken...just a tad anyways. Naomi's one of those chicks that you see and she's got a baggage sign that she wears on the front of her shirt. She's hiding secrets all-around but once she decides to come clean...she's in it for the long haul. I had to admire her for that. What follows are townsfolk who are judgmental to a fault, pain in the booty little brother who loves too much and a ragtag bunch of different people that make your heart swell. I have Sara on my automatic TBR stack. Her next release is definitely on my calendar and I've got it starred. If you want a hometown romance, then this is the one for you!!

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher/author for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

I really enjoyed this one. I love a good second chance story. I did tear up a few times because it has it's beautiful moments. Lucas going back to Cortez Ranch takes a lot of guts because of what happened, but once he sees Naomi again it rekindles a fire inside him. Can he take the chance? This story had a great combination because it has the heart and feels, but with a little suspense element. Some parts had me on the edge of my seat. While reading this book you can feel the special bond between Naomi and her daughter. I have that with my mother still at the age of 31. I just loved the epilogue. It was really beautiful.
