<b>5 everyone is ruthless stars</b>

This book was everything I needed and more! This book was also nothing that I was expecting by any means. It was so much better!

Ethan and Ivy move quickly, that's for damn sure. I love that Ethan had bits of his mother and father's personality. I loved seeing him in his role at the head of the family. He was a king, he acted like a king, and people treated him like a king. Ivy was his perfect match for queen even if her priorities were seemingly different than his own.

I loved the build up to Dona's potential story, and the whole dynamic between Ethan and Wyatt. The entire family dynamic was entertaining as well. Between all the layers of the family, especially the aunts and uncles. It was a nice little dose from the first series. All of the action, blood, sex, love, and angst from the first series is in this book, but done on such a different level. Getting the children's view point on their parents love, and the way they were raised was interesting compared to what we've already read. I love seeing things from another perspective and I feel like JJ McAvoy did that flawlessly in this book!

All I can really say is this story was so good. I don't want to ruin anything, so I'm going to leave it at that. So well written, such a wild and crazy ride, and the way everything pans out and ends... ugh just slow clap for Ethan and Ivy please.

I read the Ruthless People series before reading CoV, but you do not HAVE to! Do I highly recommend you do? Yes! Is it a requirement... not really.

I just simply adore J.J. McAvoy books. She has a way with words and her writing style is phenomenal pair this with her amazing stories and you will see that she can’t disappoint you. At least she never disappointed me so far and became one of few authors whom books I buy without reading the synopsis. So I was ecstatic when I got the chance to read this story before the actual release date. If you loved the ruthless people series then you probably will like this one to even so if it has a completely different feel to it and a variety of personalities you wouldn’t expect based on the previous series.
One thing I didn’t like about this book is the cover. It’s not the best one from the author so far. Not the most appealing one.
The story is told from numerous different points of views but mainly by Ethan and Ivy. First I thought that it would have been better if the book only concentrated on the main couple but now that I finished reading I think its better this way because we get a clearer picture about not just Ethan and Ivy but his siblings and overall family, too. I think it’s going to be beneficial regarding the next stories.
Let’s just say that the Giovanni-Callahan children didn’t end up like I expected them to, based on the love they got from their family, their parents kind of messed them up big time. I loved Melody and Liam but in this book I had a certain amount of hate towards them. Yeah, know that they wanted their children to be string but they not only became ruthless but all of them got a certain amount of ambition that makes it impossible for them to work together as perfectly as the previous generation. I couldn’t find the family bond that made the Liam/Neal/Declan trio work so well, their connection felt much more superficial and fake at some points.

Ethan is cold, calculated, jaded as both of his siblings too, callous and ruthless. At certain points I felt like he wanted to desperately prove something, that he is not riding on his parents fame but then it became obvious that he got over this quite a while. He always pulling the strings and you don’t know when things go according his plan or not because he is a good actor and even better at keeping his composure. I was afraid I won’t be able to like him but after Ivy appearance we get to see a different side of him. They completed each other really well.
In all honesty I was afraid of Ivy character because based on the synopsis I was afraid her revenge plan is going to go in a different direction but thank God that didn’t happened. She was my favorite character in the book. She is a bad ass chick but not the in your face variety like Melody was. She is ruthless, cunning, smart, a bit mental but has a goofy side too. She was funny and aloof when the events didn’t required her to show her hard edge. She was the perfect match for Ethan, mellows him out a bit. Also they have off the charts sexual chemistry what they don’t leave unexplored.
Among the siblings my favorite is probably going to be Wyatt. He is the dark horse whom you would expect to be the softest of them all, but you get a couple of glimpse of his twisted side, too in this book. Unfortunately he is trying to deny himself and running from his inheritance so he is in the background as of now.
I didn’t like Donatella even in Bloody kingdom, but in this book I outright hated her. She is a spoiled, bitter bitch. I expected the move she made because it’s pretty clear she is going to do it just from the way she talks. She is the only one that trying to ride the fame left behind by their parents and the one I didn’t see anything that would prove she deserves the title she thinks she should have. She works in the shadows and in a really irritating and I think cowardly way. I’m sure that her little tantrum is going to get a deeper meaning and a big role later on but I really hope she gets severely punished. Sorry but she was really obnoxious for me.
The plot is not as busy as I expected it to be and at some instances it even became a bit confusing and harder to follow because of Ethan constant scheming. But I liked it a lot only if it had the fantastic family atmosphere that Ruthless people had. A of now I’m not so sure I want to read the next book because of Donatella, I will read it because I love the other characters but won’t be as excited about it.
