A book that you cannot put down, a woman is abused but does not realise to what extent emotionally. She does exactly what she is told all the time. Good read. Sad though.
This was a pretty good mystery, thriller. I read this in only one day! It was interesting and well=written with a hug e twist! I think anyone who likes mysteries would enjoy this!
Hiw creepy can it be when your psychiatrist husband attends to (almost) your every whim but also keeps you in the dark as to your own mental health? Very.
I really enjoyed reading this novel and so refreshing to read something different to the norm. I am not familiar with this author, but based on this novel alone, I hope to read more by Emily Ketchel. I love the twist at the end, which i didn't see coming. I would certainly recommend this novel.
Received in exchange for an honest review. Reviews have been left on Goodreads and Amazon.
Holy, holy spitballs!!!! Twists, turns, wow!!! And ending I dis NOT see coming, this was amazing writing, and the plot was really an edge of your seat, have to know what happens next white knuckle read!!!!! GET THIS BOOK!!!! My review is up on Amazon under my name Kimberly-Aisha Hashmi
This book is not what I expected when I requested the title to read. In my opinion the story is not realistic at all and there were also several grammatical errors. The characters did not ring true and some of the things that happened almost bordered on the paranormal. I gave it 3 stars in spite of the negatives because it is somewhat entertaining.
I couldn't put this book down. What an excellent author. I love it when I find a book like this that just grips me the whole way. Can't wait to read more from Emily
This was a good psychological thriller in that it is strange right from the get go, you know something is happening in the marriage of Catherine (not cathy, she's not four) and Stephan but your not sure what, then it gets stranger when Catherine sees things that aren't real (right?) and luckily right around the time when the story goes beyond crazy everything explodes and the truth is finally revealed. Could not stop with this book even if I wanted too. Well done!
Horrible and unreadable. Read about 20-30 pages and gave up. The plot is just ridiculous and all the characters unlikeable.
Catherine is careful to always do everything her husband Stephan, wants. She watches her food and liquid intake, keeps everything scrupulously clean and does other, more unusual things. When Catherine witnesses a murder, she begins to remember things, things that make her doubt her life, and when she catches her husband in a lie, she stops playing his games. She meets another man, one who seems to be the answer to all her problems, but Catherine has never been a good judge of men, and she may be making the same mistake all over again. Creepy and intense
Catherine Foss is only allowed 2 cups of coffee per day. She must run 5 days a week. Her kitchen counters must always be clean. Shoes are to be taken off at the door. Every evening she and her husband go through a ritual where he satisfies her needs and she satisfies his. This is while they watch the news on the television.
Her husband is a psychiatrist. Stephan and Catherine are co-owners of the Foss Foundation. But she is no longer allowed to work there. Stephan has grown close to the woman who has replaced her at work ... Annie.
It's a routine kept by both of them until the day she sees a woman being killed. There is no evidence that a murder ever took place ... no body, no blood, nothing.
Stephan wakes her every morning to take a pill and when she's extremely agitated she also gets an injection .. whether she wants it or not.
When she catches Stephan in a lie, she hides the fact that she is spitting out the pills when his back is turned.
She meets Jason ...another psychiatrist ... and finds that she trusts him implicitly. She trusts him enough that she cheats on her husband. Is he really who he says he is?
Sanity is a fragile thing.
I thought I knew what this book was going to be about. I was wrong. It was a journey filled with blurred edges and hazy fog. Not everything is at is appears to be. But who is speaking the truth? Catherine who has a background of mental health issues? Her husband who may have a motive for making her appear to be 'crazy'? Jason ... the man who seems to be too good to be true?
This is a well-written psychological thriller. The suspense builds and builds until the very surprising ending.
Many thanks to Emily Ketchel and Netgalley for the digital copy of this extremely riveting novel. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
