Loved this book! I like that these old books are getting republished for new readers. Some of the pages came up fuzzy on my kindle, so perhaps clearer scans on later editions would be helpful. Otherwise, it was a great read with great info.
I wasn't familiar with this title previously; however, I do believe any school with a horticulture program should make sure to have this title in their collection. Others who have (or are wishing to have) green thumbs might also find this interesting.
this book is a simple copy of the original one can get for free online, due to the fact that the copyright is already expired. Why anyone would purchase a book they can get legally for free, is beyond me.
Great gardening book! Lots of good information about vegetables - definitely some new information that I hadn't heard before.

In 1895, Mrs. de Salis wrote these guide books on how to grow, harvest and cook with fruits and vegetables . In 2017, I am reviewing Harriet A. de Salis' book for NetGalley. First of all, I love that this book is still (or reprinted) in print over a hundred years later. That is the kind of book that instills trust when one is new to gardening. With the way the weather has been this year I have not really been motivated to go outside, let alone spend time gardening. SO I have had a chance to read these guides and make notes. While the cover is modern and pretty, the text inside the books (ebook) are definitely old print. At times I did have to squint and guess to read it. Still the tips do seem worth the eye strain IF/WHEN I get to garden and it does well, lol.
A book gives you idea about when and how to grow a vegetable. How to use the grown vegetable in recipes......
Such great advice for the backyard vegetable gardener. Full of tips, this 19th century advice columnist there is information in abundance, from planting, watering, and conserving your harvest. Delightful little book.
I liked this book. It had a lot of great tips for my garden. Always like to learn to tips and tricks.
A garden variety text. Nice photography that compliments the text.
