This was a fun book on DIY projects . Some classic some trendy.
Room Love: 50 DIY Projects to Design Your Space is perfect for your preteen-through college age young ladies who are creating and designing their spaces to reflect themselves, their likes, and originality. A few projects are harder than others, but nothing that a little adult help can't fix. The designs and presentation are fresh and crisp with clear instructions and bright illustrations and photographs, as well as listing the instructions for each project. Projects use tape, recycled / upcycled fabrics, paint, furniture, fairy lights, and easy to get materials. I especially love the dream catcher's unique new styling. I love seeing new crafts created around upcycled homegoods like lamps, furniture, clothing, etc. Some of the items would make great gifts as well. I recommend this book for public libraries, high school libraries, and gift giving for teen girls.
ROOM LOVE is a great little DIY book!
I really love DIY books and I get really hyped up; however, there was only one DIY (called an 'outfit planner', which is such a good idea and one I am going to do) that I would actually consider doing.
Why? The reasons for these are simple: 1) I am a university student and therefore I live in rented accommodation. A lot of these DIYs involve paint or nails; and I'm not even allowed to put blu-tack on the walls! 2) I felt like this book would be suited to someone about 4 years younger than me - around 14-18. The DIYs though were so cute, and there are some that I am considering for my family home (where I live when I'm not at uni!).
This book also has some tips for decluttering, so I think it'd be really helpful for some people who might be growing up and wanting to move their rooms around a lot.
Overall, I probably wouldn't buy this book, although I might lend it from a library, simply for the reasons I have laid out above. However, if I had a daughter or a friend who I felt would benefit from this book, I would probably buy it for them!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a review copy!
A great book to makeover our living space with this 50 DIY projects..........
This is the best DIY book I've ever read! Very fresh and modern techniques to decorate your space.
Be it just a small touch up or a complete make-over, this book can help you with it all.
Recommended for girls who love DIY.
With this book, you can make your own beautiful Dream Catcher, fancy dressing table and even decorate your walls the easy way.
A great book with easy and fun ideas!
A fun and interesting look at room by room decor. A helpful guide to those decorating on a budge.
“Statistics say you spend at least one third of your life in your bedroom…why not make it the most amazing place you can imagine?”(Quote from Room Love, pg.5, 2017)
This summer, don’t let your room go shabby or remain a place only nightmares are made of. Try some DIY tips from this gorgeous book filled with colorful photos, tips and cautions on how to get your room looking sweet and inviting.
It all starts with Moodboards and De-cluttering….
Then you grab this book and oh! the ways you can heal your room.
What I love most about this book are the colorful pages and easy to read instructions.
I’ll be honest.
I did not know this was a book from the Young Adult category until I realized there were warnings like: “Ask parents about heat resistant lampshades!” Or Make sure to consult your parent about…”
That kind of thing. This is what makes the book so special though. When I was a teenager, the most sprucing up I did with my room, was add a few posters, buy a new comforter with cute kittens on it and maybe move the twin beds around.
But Wutschke takes decorating a step further: You can have a furry desk chair with confetti pieces on your wall(as shown on the book cover). Create a super cute charger station, magnetic makeup boards, and beautiful hangers to grace your closet with style.
I truly enjoyed the cozy pictures and brilliant ideas for rooms. I am no longer a teen but the principles of designing a room is great for anyone to read and take notes from.
So get that Washi tape, fabric or acrylic paint and start transforming your room into the most beautiful space ever.
The book has some really pretty and fun ideas to decor your room, i'll sure be trying some of them on my new place. The projects seem easy enough to do them, so i'll just enjoy it!
Some lovely ideas to make. Clear instructions and a variety of items. Easy enough for even the newest crafters.
Cute ideas! I think teens and even those headed to college will enjoy looking through this book for ideas! Easy to follow directions, bright photographs. Fun!
In an age where you can look up hundreds of DIY tips and projects for free online, this book does a great job of proving that it can still be worth buying books. It's very well presented and highly stylised. Although it's aimed at teenage girls, there are fun and easy projects in here for everyone.
This is a fun book filled with lots of ideas for teenagers and even 8-12 YOs to do. Well laid out with good details on how to do the projects.
There are a lot of good DIY's on here and easy to follow directions. Very cute book with inspiring ideas and projects!
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review!
Lovely and girly. Sadly I only have boys so it's not for us, but my nieces would absolutely love it.
Sections for everything from an intro to interior design by creating a moodboard, to practical things like painting furniture, and the ever important storage solutions, even for the vast nail polish collections my nieces seem to accumulate.
“Everything in your room
Should bring you joy!”
Room Love: 50 DIY Projects to Design Your Space is aimed at the Middle Grade age group, pre-teens and older. These projects are easy enough that these could be done by ages 8-10 and up; some might need more supervision than others. There are ideas / projects for organizing, making over existing furniture, choosing the best fabrics for the project, curtains, stenciling, and more. While this appears to be aimed more toward girls, simple changes could turn some of these ideas into a more “boyish” style, depending on what your child prefers. Not all girls love pink and purple and glittery things, and not all boys avoid them, so I would look at these more as “ideas” than projects set in stone.
Supplies include such things as photos, printed pictures, fabric scraps, scrapbook paper, paint swatches, quotes and more.
Steps are also included which boil down to:
Research for ideas – photos, printed pictures, fabric scraps etc.
Arrange it Together
Create an Inspiration Board
Of course, as everyone knows, should know, the best way to accomplish the look you want is to remove those items that don’t add to the look you’re going for.
Included are steps to make a mock-up of the room, using paper for pieces of furniture and place them, rearranging them, to find the best arrangement for the space.
Then there are pages of furniture “makeovers,” a dresser repainted using stencils, a “Furry Kitty Desk Chair,” a bookcase painted and framed with brightly patterned paper and washi tape. There are ideas for bedding, hand painted pillows, a “boho” bed skirt, and a faux canopy. Organization “stations:” drawer dividers, a special framed sunglass / eyeglasses holder, a nail polish display case, a hair accessory holder, earring holder, jewelry hangar, more hanging storage, a magnetic make-up board and a “treasure box” and a charging station.
There’s more. There’s a lot more, actually. There’s a whole section on the “Dressing Zone” another on “Walls” (I loved the Quote Wall) Accent Walls, making Floral Monograms, the Confetti Wall is one I’ve seen used on home renovation shows. A framed “Mantra,” a “Gallery Wall” how to make a “Dry Erase Calendar” out of poster board and washi tape. And more.
What every parent hopes will come out of this: their child to have a sense of what is theirs, to have pride in it and want to keep it looking nice and new. And every child, excuse me, (almost) teenager wants is a room that represents them, that says this is who I am, what I love. Essentially: This is Me. To have that sense of ownership that helps to keep them organized; wanting things to look the way they designed them to look.
My biggest disappointment with this book is that it won’t be published until after the end of summer, when school will be starting for the very age group at which it is aimed.

Many thanks for the ARC provided by Capstone, Capstone Young Readers
Cute projects for preteen and young teen girls. There are so many cute ideas in here. And with full color, bright photos the instructions are super clear.
This is a really fun book filled with great ideas for decorating one's bedroom (many projects will work in other rooms as well). I wish I had had this book when I was a teenager; I would have had so much fun using the ideas here to improve my surroundings! As an adult, there are still so many of these projects I want to do!
This is a young crafters dream! A short book, however filled with lots of stylish, practical and realistic crafts for the teenage diy-er and adults alike (there are several crafts in there, which as a seasoned crafter, I love and would definitely try!) Nicely laid out, clear with a modern layout. Thoroughly recommend.
A very visual and colorful book full of fun DIY projects! The instructions were simple, totally would recommend it for crafty teenagers trying to make their rooms more stylish!
Very cute and adorable book. Pretty pictures, layouts and colors. The projects are easy enough for anyone to do. That being said, a lot of the projects look like Decor DIY already found on blogsites and places like Pinterest. But, I think the book would be a great gift for a young girl or teenager to work with.
