A really great book on sandwiches. With lots of recipes, some I didn't even know existed. It's great for kids and adults alike. The pictures were great and I could easily understand what to do. A great book to keep, for when you want a sandwich. A lot of different wonderful recipes.

This is a great book for anyone who wants to involve their children into cooking or working in the kitchen, but doing so it is fun and with new ways. Yes some of these ideas are ones you know about but the way they are presented and with a few twists on some old favorites the gets you to realize that you can come up with your own creation. This is what I liked about it and reminded me of my father and how we would make different sandwiches way before other others were making all of the different kinds and there was no sandwich shops. A good book and great pictures or illustrations.

As the parent of a six year old, I make a lot of sandwiches. They're practically their own food group in our house. While my son has his preferences (peanut butter & jelly, turkey & mayo), he is open up to trying a variety of new flavors so I thought that checking out this book would be a good way to find new sandwiches and to include him in their preparation.

This book will appeal to both adults and children with a combination of fun graphics and handy information. Each recipe is full of simple illustrations about how to prepare the sandwich, including a symbol for the tools (i.e. knives, etc.) necessary and side pics for possible alternative ingredients like different cheeses, proteins, or sides.

There's a lot of useful information that will appeal to older readers, though sharing it with younger readers may make the experience of preparing food more fun. Each recipe, besides the appealing layout, has snippets of information that vary between each recipe: origins of the sandwich, regional names, significant dates in history, etc.

Split up into five sections that progress from easy prep (Plate & Knife) and end with more skilled handiwork (Extra Cooking, Recipes, & Prep Work), there's a variety of flavors for every palate. Oftentimes there are recommendations for quick fixes to kick a sandwich up a notch, but each chapter also has a "We Dare You" page for wacky, out of the park things to add to a sandwich, like apple pie filling or apricot jelly, bananas or ranch dressing to a grilled cheese. Maybe tasty, maybe gross, who knows? It's up to the reader to experiment!

I appreciated how, as new techniques were introduced and prior to the recipes using one, the book took the time to guide the reader through them in an accessible manner that will leave bellies and mind full.

Great, easy to follow recipes! Some of the suggestions are weird but I have actually tried the bologna and peanut butter so who am I to say?

This book is fun! As an English person, I found it fascinating to see how many types of sandwiches there are in America and some of the interesting combinations available. I particularly enjoyed the cucumber and cream cheese page!! Radishes are a great idea. This book is a great idea for inspiring you to try new things! Lunch can be so boring and I often struggle to pack interesting lunches for school lunches- this book has helped!

This great book is a perfect cookbook for the tween in your life. My daughter and I looked at this book together (she is 12 and the perfect age for this book). We both loved the simple format and creative alternatives offered for each sandwich, as well as the easy to read directions. The facts scattered through gave some interesting tidbits related to each recipe. If you have a tween in your life that is complaining about lunch ideas for school, pick them up a copy of this easy to use and creative book for them to spice up a "boring" sandwich into something significantly better.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC for a fair and honest review.

This was a super fabulous little cookbook! Excellent use of colorful graphics and fonts make it very user-friendly and fun to look at. The book is broken down into the following chapters (levels)...(PLATE & KNIFE, TOASTER & MICROWAVE, OVEN/BROILER, STOVE, SKILLET & PANINI PRESS, THE BIG TIME: EXTRA COOKING, RECIPES & PREP WORK). We get an excellent little introduction at the beginning (WHAT IS A SANDWICH, TOOLS). On top of that, there are tips, tricks, trivia, substitutions, and little facts about the recipes spread throughout.

The following is just a few of the many recipes you will find within...

-- PB&J
-- Turkey Swiss Roll-up
-- Caprese
-- Stuffed French Toast
-- Chicken And Waffles
-- Bagel And Lox
-- Meatball Sub
-- Fried Fish
-- Grilled Cheese
-- S'more
-- Meatloaf
-- Egg And Cheese
-- Apple Pie
-- French Dip

This one gets two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly and I cannot wait to try SO many of the sandwiches in this one. If you are a foodie like me then this is one book you should be adding to your collection right quick!

"Sandwiches!' may be my new favorite cookbook. It takes a simple food--sandwiches--and makes it completely fascinating. I might be a little biased (I love sandwiches) but this is such a fun and entertaining cookbook. 'Sandwiches' includes a variety of fun recipes, from simple (PB&J) to exotic (Banh Mi). Not only does it provide recipes, it includes the history and origin of the sandwiches, fun facts, alternative toppings, and suggested sides.

'Sandwiches!' would make a great addition to a library or a budding young chef's cookbook collection, or a gift for a recent high school grad.

Today sandwiches are on of the most popular food items in the diets of many. They can be as simple as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to a sophisticated Monte Cristo sandwich. I'm always in the market to find new ways to provide my family something different for their lunch as well as a meal. This is a great book that can provide ideas not just for lunch but breakfast and a late night snack.

What a fun and useful book! It's a perfect gift for teens and tweens who are interested in cooking. It starts simply with a butter knife and a plate and goes all the way up to more complicated sandwiches like steak and cheese. Lots of interesting food including vegetarian selections and tasty side dishes. I'm definitely going to try the Bahn Mi - something I've only had in restaurants.
I was pleased to see that they added my favorite New England Classic: the Fluffernutter.

Note: I will still be adding in my own opinion on specific sandwiches I made later

I absolutely loved this book! Sandwiches are definitely one of my favorite (semi-) fast prep things to make. And while I would already consider myself quite advanced with my sandwich-making skill, and already knew quite a lot of the recipes, this book definitely has expanded my sandwich horizons.

What I loved most about this book though, was the fact that this book was also made for children as well. With its simple illustrations and easy instructions, I can imagine this book will be a perfect addition for any household with youngsters. I think this book will encourage many kids who still go to school to make their sandwiches much tastier and diverser than just taking a regular ham/cheese sandwich (which, let's be honest is pretty tasty but also incredibly boring!)

But not only for children is this book perfect. It lays out the basic sandwich type structure and then gives you loads of options of what to combine it with (as well as some very weird combinations that might work out well for certain people - I do love me some peanut butter & mayonnaise!).

I received this arc from Netgalley for an honest review.
This is a really cool book about the art and history of sandwiches.
Filled with lots of different kinds of sandwiches and ideas to jazz them up. There's even history about some of the sandwiches. Great addition to anyone's cookbook collection and will make a great gift.

I love a good sandwich. Sandwiches are great, because you can make a sandwich out of anything, and that's exactly what this cookbook proves. There are sandwiches you wouldn't even think of making, but it is completely genius. And there are tons of sandwiches to trick kids into eating things that are good for them. I also love the fun sandwich facts. A great addition to your kitchen!

Since I am always on the lookout for lunches that are quick and easy to make as well as packable, I thought a cookbook about sandwiches would be a nice addition to my kitchen library. While this book was meant for “young readers”, that didn’t stop me from requesting an ARC. It does include the basics—utensils and directions for making a sandwich that would be useful for a young reader, but it offers far more than that, so older people will enjoy it too.

The book has some very basic sandwich ideas—many of which you are probably familiar with: ham and cheese; peanut butter and jelly, pesto chicken, roast beef and roasted veggie to name a few. But it doesn’t stop there. The author adds a few details about the history of the sandwich and then includes some ideas of things you might like to add. Some of the additions seem a bit far-fetched to me as I’m definitely not going to put peanut butter or cheese puffs in my ham and cheese, while other additions definitely look like things that would make my lunch so much better. There are tips, such as what to place after the bread to keep it from getting soggy.

The diagrams are nice. Each sandwich is taken apart so that at the top is the bread, then each individual item is shown separately, and the second slice of bread is at the bottom. Notes are shown on the side of the diagram, and there are bubbles with additional info, so it’s fun to glance through, and it isn’t set up like a regular recipe book.

If you are in the lunchtime “I don’t know what to pack rut”, pick up a copy of this for yourself.
