I LOVE dragons and can’t get enough. This was a fantastic addition to the series.

Drakon’s Prey has plenty of danger, suspense, and smoking hot romance plus sexy dragon brothers. I loved Tarrant! He was just so amazing and sweet. Valeriya I adored her. She had a horrible childhood, but she found away to distance herself from the family business. I loved that she is an artist and an author. Such a sweet heart, but still strong and loyal. The chemistry between Valeriya and Tarrant was hot and steamy. I loved watching them fall for each other.

As for the Knights, they won’t give up, but neither will the Drakons. War is inevitable and the Knights won’t see them coming.

I’m in love and can’t wait for the next installment. If you are a fan of dragons, then I highly recommend this series.

With action, intrigue, and danger around every corner, there was a lot to like about Drakon’s Prey. Sadly, this series still isn’t grabbing me like I really, really hoped it would. To get the full picture, I’d read the first book before diving into this one since there is an ongoing story arc connecting each book in the series.

Valeriya (who I called V in my head because that name just sounds like something contagious to me), was super sweet and meant well but OMG was she naïve. To make things worse she kept acting without thinking first. As the somewhat estranged sister of the head of the knights this seemed like a quick way to get dead, no matter who she’s related too.

Tarrant was exactly as expected: gruff, grouchy, and a bit of a nerd (which always appeals to me). A victim of insta-lust Drakon style, he hesitated and didn’t go all-in until he was sure of her intentions. What I didn’t understand was his decision to stay at the cabin once it had been compromised for a second time. At the very least he should have foreseen what would happen and made allowances.

The knights are super evil but they didn’t seem all that smart, especially considering all the infighting. I find myself wondering why the Drakon’s are having such a hard time getting rid of them. They are rich and well-connected enough to squash them like roaches they are.

Drakon’s Prey was interesting and a decent read but I’m not quite sold on this series. Even with my love of most of NJ Walter’s books, I’m torn as to whether or not I’ll continue on with the Blood of the Drakon series.

Tarrant and Valeriya are two characters you can't help but love. Tarrant is doing whatever possible to protect his brothers and the life he's so carefully constructed. While Valeriya is trying to get away from the Knights and stop those who are out to destroy the Drakons. What she never expected was to stumble upon a real-life Drakon.

This couple is so very endearing. They are down to earth and logical in their thinking, except when it comes to protecting each other, then all bets are off. Their interactions are intense and sweet at the same time.

A solid 4.5 star story. With a steady flow, this story is full of danger, suspense, betrayal, humor and is very sexy. I was completely invested from beginning to end. I love the dynamics between Tarrant and his brothers the most though. Ezra's and Nic's personalities are worlds apart and I can't wait to read their stories.

This book might be even better than the last one in the series! This world is so unique and different that I am really loving learning more bit by bit. If you read the previous book, then you knew that this one had to be about Valeriya, the sister of the head of the Knights of the Dragon.

Valeriya is a children’s book author who is doing her best to avoid the drama tied to her sister. She’s determined to make amends (or try to) and part of that is warning the drakon that is in her sister’s sights. When she arrives at her destination, however, it is very clear that there’s nobody around to warn. Even more determined to help, she decides to camp out a bit waiting for something to come about. Her instincts are almost never wrong.

Tarrant is the reclusive computer genius that we’ve met previously. It seemed like he wouldn’t have his match found for him… ever. Somehow, though, he finds himself smitten with the tenacious woman who simply will not leave him alone. He’s moved to the point of kind-of kidnapping her and taking her into his underground lair. While neither really knows one another, nor even can begin to know all the secrets they’re hiding, they still cannot deny the attraction. They’re drawn to each other and it seems like fate is at play.

These two are now my favorite couple. I love the spunky nature of Valeriya and I really loved the protective nature Tarrant had hiding in him. If this is any indication of how the rest of the series will go, I can’t wait to watch the rest of the drakons pair off!

This is book two in the Blood of the Drakon series and it features Tarrant Cooper and Valeriya Azarov. He stuck between knowing she's the one meant for him and knowing her sister is the leader of the Knights of the Dragon, their mortal enemy. This book has some fabulous action, in and out of the bedroom. The way their lives are set up and their jobs, where they live and how they communicate is all fantastic. The life span of the Drakon is pretty amazing too.

I do believe the series must be read in order. Starting with book 2 allows you to follow the insta-romance from the beginning but it does not give you a whole lot of background on the Knights of the Dragon. Regardless, great story! I can't wait for book 3.

Drakon's Prey by N.J. Walters is love dragon style. The second book in the series concerns Tarrant, Darius’ brother. Valeriya and Tarrant made a strong cou[le with extreme chemistry. Not a lot of drama more outside conflict. I liked the way that Valeriya stands up to Tarrant at times. No wimpy girl here.

Well-written with tension, humor and passion. Amazing addition to the series, makes you want to go back to reread the first book that introduced the brothers, Drakon's Promise.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

Drakons are the offspring of a human mother and a dragon-shifter father. They are sought by the Knights of the Dragon who wish to enslave them and use their blood to prolong their lives as well as heal. Karina Azarov is the leader of the Knights. She is strong, determined and focussed on capturing herself a drakon but her sister, Valeriya has never wanted anything to do with the Knights. She’s the author and illustrator of children’s books about friendly dragons and, when she hears her sister’s plans, she discovers the probably GPS coordinates of a Drakon and seeks to warn him of the impending danger. That’s how Valeriya unknowingly ends up in an isolated cabin above the lair of four thousand year old Drakon, Tarrant Cooper. . . . As the Knights seek to capture Valeriya, her secret abilities prove lifesaving but don’t prevent her being kidnapped by Tarrant! This is the start of an explosive interaction, with their attraction to each other proving hotter than Drakon’s breath! Will they escape the Knights? Can Valeriya convince Tarrant that she’s not out to capture him or his siblings?

This is a brilliant second novel in the series and is, IMHO, even better than the first! The chemistry between the two is off the charts, the story is action-packed and I just can’t wait to read more in this enthralling series . . . . the other brother Drakons also need to meet their matches, please!

I requested and received a copy of this book via NetGalley without any obligation. This is my honest opinion after reading it.

Drakon’s Prey picks up the story of the Blood of the Drakon series with Tarrant’s story. The sparks fly between Tarrant and Valeriya almost immediately, even if she’s unaware that he’s been watching her on camera since she first neared his woods. The man is suspicious, especially considering who her sister is – but the drakon, well that’dragon’s heart is already captured and he knows this woman belong with them. Valeriya has never believed in what her family does and this is her one chance to help the drakon remain free from captivity. Yet it’s she who becomes at least a temporary captive when Tarrant finally swoops in and kidnaps Valeriya from the cabin above his lair where she’s hoping to find his brother – for the safety of his brothers of course, nothing to do with what his instincts are telling him about her.

I completely enjoyed Drakon’s Prey. It’s full of intrigue, danger, an ancient war and certainly a sexy couple. If you love Shifters, Paranormal Romance then this is a story and a series that you should be following. I’ve loved N.J. Walters’ wolves, I’m loving her dragons just as much. Definitely would recommend this one for all Paranormal Romance readers. I’m now on pins and needles waiting for the next story. I was captured once again, and I loved it.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Valeriya Azarov is determined to try and warn the Drakon, that her sister is after him and knows his name. Her sister is the head of the Knights of the Dragon an organization that wants to capture and exploit any Drakon they can find. The only clue Valeriya has to find the one she wants to help are the coordinates to an abandoned cabin.
Tarrant is watching the beautiful woman who is making herself at home in the cabin. He will soon know who she is and why she is there.
Meanwhile away from Tarrant's lair the enemies are gathering information and searching for someone who has gone missing.
This is the second book in the series and, I think, best read in order. This brother's story is set directly after book one finishes.
Our hero is a bit of a recluse always buried in his work and distrustful of people. Our heroine is an author of children's books, but knows all about the damage her family has caused and wants to put it right. There is a lot of danger, smoking hot sex and a few laughs. I love the characters and the story line and can't wait for the next book in the series.

4 ~ Grumpy-pants Tarrant and his Valeriya ~ Stars!

I loved this one, it wasn’t as fast paced as book one and I connected to both Tarrant and Valeriya a lot quicker than I did with Darius and Sarah. There was something so instinctive about their bond that really stood out for me. Maybe it was because they both fought how easy it was to care for a perfect stranger? Or the fact that they were so different for one another but still understood each others needs so perfectly? I think it really helped that these two stayed in one spot for the majority of the story. There was time for them to talk, get to know each other and open up without the constant adrenaline rush of being chased and running for your life every few hours. Also there was humor and light-hearted moments that livened up the story every once in a while. This story felt a lot more fleshed out in the romance department and made it that much more awesome.

The Knights of Dragon are still very much in play and Valeriya being the sister of the head of this psycho group put a nice spin on the story. Again I highly recommend you read them in order, they don’t give too much detail about what happens in book one but I think it would be way more enjoyable if you read the story from the start. It still ends with the fate of the war between the Drakons and the Knights still up in the air, so a cliffhanger of sorts but not unbearable.

All I know it that this book fed my new Drakon obsession and I’m about dying to read Ezra and Nic’s stories next. The fact that there are hints of other drakons around makes me hope this will not be a short siblings-only series and that maybe we’ll get to meet more of these solitary men and the women they give their hearts to.

~ARC from NetGalley. ~

This is actually the 3rd series that I have read from this author, And I must say, I truly enjoy the books and the series that she writes.

This one is the second book of a new series of hers. I love the continuity of the story.

Valeriya? I love her character, and also her job. She maybe related to the Knights, but her pure heart was something that cannot be corrupted by the ideas of the group. I really like her buildup and by gods her lines, I Nearly cried on some of them.

Tarrant, the communication king of the brothers is a cynical as all of them can be. But all of that changed when he met Valeriya. It was as sudden as Darius and Sarah's meeting, but the intensity is might a bit intense due to the fact that Valeriya is the sister of the Head of the Knights.

In spite of obstacles. their for each other pushed through, Who would have thought that Tarrant would care so deeply of a human, that is connected to the Knights? Fate really is a fickle creature..

I rate this 4.5 love it! Looking forward to the next book in the series,

4.5 - "I'm keeping you." Stars!

The second book in N. J. Walters Blood of the Drakon series brings us Tech-Wizard; Tarrant Cooper’s story. He featured pretty heavily in the first book so it was good to see deeper into this Drakons psyche.

GIF.

I really enjoyed this story, considering about 90% of it plays out in an underground bunker, it surprised me as to how well the author pulled me in.

He was half human, half dragon, too. But he was all drakon…

I think a lot of it was because the chemistry between Valeriya and Tarrant was combustible from the get-go, and I loved the dynamic between them considering both their backgrounds and families put them on opposite sides of the fence, with trust being a very limited commodity for most of the story.

His dragon coveted her… The man wanted her.

My only gripe and it is a small one is that although the relationship between Tarrant and Valeriya went off at a steady clip, the bigger story involving the Knights of the Dragon didn’t really move along at all, you are given multiple POV’s in this one which helped keep all of the players active in the story, and a few more of the villains were knocked off the list, but there was very little in the way of revelations, or development in that area of the plot in Drakon’s Prey.

She was dangerous to him. Made him weak. She also completed him and made him invincible.

I loved the inclusions from Ezra and Nicodemus, and it was great to be kept up to date with Darius and Sarah, I can only hope that everything moves along a bit more in the next book. I cannot find any information as to who the book will focus on or when it is likely to be released, but I hope once again that Entangled Publishing and the author decide that sooner is better than later to keep the series momentum moving along.

"This is war."

If there are any unnatural species apart from a vampire that can snare me into the depths of a paranormal romance novel it has to be a Dragon or as I have discovered within the pages of "Drakon's Prey," a Dragon hybrid. A Drakon (brilliant term) is half Dragon as well as half human. I want to just take a moment and applaud the author, N.J. Walters for her creativity for breathing new life into an otherwise worn genre.

As I went into my reading of the actual story I had no idea what to think regarding the material except for my own love for the genre. Without a single doubt, I literally fell head-over-fangs for this gothic romance as the book itself was so dangerously sinful that I couldn't resist taking a bite. Everything about this story from the romance, to the unworldly attraction of the characters to the supernatural backdrop, was utter perfection. I seriously felt like that this story was written for readers such as myself who was more than ready to be delivered something new in the paranormal realm.

I truly enjoyed how deeply dominating Tarrant, the hero's behavior was as it was beastly-like. Tarrant was strong willed, a survivor and of course a true hottie. His dragon instincts battled his more traditional human traits without fault and I have to confess that I loved how well Tarrant was written. His character was equally compelled to both save and kill Valeriya if she did, in fact, pose a threat as did the remaining Knights of the Dragon.

Since I was a big fan of Tarrant I did not find Valeriya to be as independent as I was expecting her to be. She did attempt to leave behind her life as well as her sister who lead the Knights of Dragon, that was a secret, uncover society that enslaved dragons. Still, I thought Valeriya could have made more of an effort, but regardless I still enjoyed her character. I liked the fact that Valeriya tended to lean more on Tarrant and allowed him to be the leader, this small detail allowed the romance to truly shine the light within the darkness of the plot.

I absolutely would suggest this book for all fans of a paranormal romance, but for readers in general. The writing is very sturdy, the romance is smoldering hot and the hero, well, too bad Drakens don't exist within our own realities.

enjoyed the story, felt it was well paced and the h/h were interesting & nicely matched. plus dragons! what's not to like about that :) while the "insta-luv" & trust given a little quickly considering their background, it wasn't "all in" at once which kept things a bit more real. liked that the hero, while hyper protective, still managed not to be over the top alpha he-man, cave=man. the heroine showed a nice bit of spunk but was also smart about it. look forward to which brother gets his story next.

I really enjoyed reading the first book in this series and Drakon's Prey is just as exhilarating. The Knights of the Dragons and Templar are still hunting down the Drakons under the guise of protecting the humans! Their real reasons? Greed and power! Interestingly, they might look like they are in collaboration but there is no shortage of backstabbing within and outside each organisation.

Tarrant is a Drakon, one of four brothers. He is a hoarder of communications and after everything that happened to Darius in book one, his main goal is to gather as much information as possible on the Knights. No more hiding as it has come to a point where they have go on the offensive if they want to survive.

Valeriya is a children's author and comes from a long line of Knights. Her sister is their leader but she finds the whole thing inhumane and stay out of this business as much as she can. Until now!

When Valeriya overhears a telephone conversation and stumbles on some information which could help the Drakons, she decides to take action. She takes a chance and travels to the location where she hopes to alert whoever resides there of the impending danger. Unbeknown to her, everyone of her movements is being watched. Tarrant doesn't miss a thing and although he is intrigued by her, he is suspicious of her visit. She is also unaware that she is being followed but she manages to give her persuers the slip. She has a gift that she has kept secret from everyone.

She makes the decision to return and wait. Tarrant seizes this opportunity to kidnap her and if she is working for the Knights, he would get any information he can out of her. He finds himself attracted to her and she isn't really afraid of him either. Cautious, yes! She too is unable to resist her attraction for him and the chemistry between them is sizzling hot. There is no getting away from this intense feeling but trusting each other is not so easy.

Valeriya is now thought to be missing and the Knights can't afford for her to land in the wrong hands and she is relentlessly persued. Tarrant is not prepared to sit back and allow anything to happen to her and as cautious as they are, they face mortal danger on more than one occasion. Will the Knights and Templar succeed in their mission?

Tarrant and Valeriya are very endearing. They are down to earth and logical in their thinking, except when it comes to protecting each other, then all bets are off. Rationale goes out the window. Their interactions are intense and sweet at the same time.

This story has a nice steady flow. It's full of danger, suspense, betrayal, humour and is very sexy. I was completely invested from beginning to end. I like the dynamics between Tarrant and his brothers. Ezra's and Nic's personalities are worlds apart and I would love to read their stories.

WOW!!! I just KNEW that the brother(s) would come through for me in this series and I can honestly say THANK GOODNESS!!!!! Sigh...let's just get lost looking at the cover for a second though.......sigh...

Valeriya is the younger sister of the leader of the Knights. Yep, those Knights. The ones that are out to get the Drakons blood, literally. There's a problem though. Valeriya doesn't really agree with the Knights and what they're after. She goes searching for Darius (read the first book) to warn him of the Knights' plans, but stumbled upon something so much more. And she pays the price too. Because now she's being held captive for being nosy.

Tarrant is the brother of Darius. Well, one of them. He is mysterious, successful and hot. Did I mention hot? Holy Drakon!!! Because of his business, he has cameras everywhere and notices Valeriya coming a mile away. And boy of boy, his non-human side has taken notice. But why the heck is she there? He's about to find out. The old fashion way. Yep. He kidnaps her. But things quickly shift when the chemistry between them becomes too hot to handle.

Talk about hot and steamy. This book does NOT disappoint. The chemistry between these two just about knocked me senseless. And when Valeriya's sister brings crazy to the cabin, the animal in Tarrant takes over and it's one hell of a ride. I absolutely liked this installment more than the first. I found that the story and chemistry between these two pulled me in more. And you can't really go wrong when there are Drakon's....right?

I found Drakon’s Prey while looking for new books on netgalley and seeing that this was the sequel to Drakon's Promise, a book I had read and loved! Once again, the cover caught my eye (hello handsome! Those eyes!) and the blurb sounded wonderful (Dragon shifters! Yeeeesssss!), so I requested the book and received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

And, honestly, I really liked it! It picks up right where Drakon's Promise left off. Darius and Sarah are with Ezra (I can't wait for his book!) and Valeriya and headed to the Northwest to poke around and warn Darius that her sister's evil empire, The Knights of the Dragon, are looking for him. What she finds, however, is Tarrant. While her superpower senses keep her safe, the plot for this book is much slower than the first novel and the rest of the book is spent with various henchmen from the Knights visiting Tarrant's lair and Tarrant and Valeriya dealing with the fallout from those encounters. Which, blah, became a bit predictable.

As for the relationship between Tarrant and Valeriya, I’m not quite sure I believe their romance is true love. First off, she’s way too okay with having been kidnapped. Then they fall into bed very quickly – and very often. But, aside from his Dragon saying she’s MINE repeatedly, we have very little in the way of conversation or shared experiences to bond them. The story moves very quickly over a matter of days. But, there is no witty banter or conversations about their future. Everything is just a rushed “I love you” and “We’re together forever!” without the courtship and solid basis to build that future with.

In general, though, I would say the writing is top notch – clearly this is an author that has spent a considerable amount of time writing about shifters. There is a lot of detail to the environment, the settings, and secondary characters are all well developed. You have a clear mental picture of the setting and a general idea of how the characters will behave, based on their personality’s development and descriptions.

The only reason I am giving this book 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because it was a bit too predictable and comfortable. I think the author is incredibly talented and I am eagerly awaiting the next few books in the series (Seriously, I want Ezra’s story next, please!). I just hope that the next book takes me for a bit of a ride, worthy of a drakon.

Drakon’s Prey is book two in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters. Wow, what a fantastic second book this is! I mentioned in the review for the first book that I didn’t feel the chemistry as much as I wanted to between Darius and Sarah. Well, that was most definitely not a problem with this one! These two were hotter than hot and I loved watching them fall for one another.

Valeriya Azarov is the younger sister of Karina Azarov who is the leader of the Knights of the Dragon, an organization intent on capturing Drakons. If a human drinks the blood of a Drakon, it will keep them young indefinitely and heal any and all sickness or injury. The Knights want power and seek the blood of the Drakons to achieve it. The only Drakon they know of is Darius Varkas and they have been using every resource to search for him. Valeriya was always the quiet child. She wanted no part of the atrocities she felt the Knights were committing. She became an author of children’s books with her main character being a mythical dragon.

Valeriya feels like she has stood on the sidelines long enough. If she could do just one good thing against the Knights, she would be happy. She wants to warn Darius Varkas that the Knights are searching for him. In her sister’s office, she found the address of an old cabin in the woods. She knows this cabin is somehow tied to Darius so she decided to travel there and see if it might lead her to him. Little did she know that the cabin sits on top of the underground residence of Darius’s younger brother, Tarrant.

Tarrant Cooper is one of four Drakon brothers. He has lived over four thousand years. Tarrant has amassed a fortune and runs it all by computer in his underground lair. Drakons are solitary by nature. Tarrant has security cameras and sensors all throughout the woods to alert him to any intruders. He saw Valeriya coming long before she spotted the cabin. He didn’t know what she wanted or if she was a danger to him. But the beast within him instantly let it be known that he wanted her. He would watch her for awhile to see what she was up to. His beast wanted her, though, and his human side wanted answers. The only way to get those was to take her.

“It was as though a part of him yearned for her, knew she was what had been missing in his life.”

“What are you going to do with me?”
“What am I going to do with you? I’m keeping you.”

What started as a captor, captive relationship, quickly changed. Tarrant didn’t trust easily but found it increasingly hard to believe that this woman meant him or his brothers any harm. Little by little he lets down his guard. At the same time, Valeriya falls for her captor long before she knew he was anything but human.

“He’d never allowed himself to believe he’d ever find her - the one woman who both man and beast desired with equal fervor. With her by his side, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do.”

As these two give in to the chemistry between them, and believe me, it is some intense chemistry, danger is lurking. Valeriya’s sister isn’t taking her disappearance well. Danger once again comes to the cabin. But this time, Tarrant is not just defending himself or his underground lair. He is protecting this woman who has become everything to him. He is defending his woman.

This book was amazing. The sexy times were sizzling hot, but there were such sweet times as well. And let me tell you, sweet little Valeriya is one tough woman. She proves herself time and time again to Tarrant even though she puts herself at great risk. I loved watching them fall for each other but there was plenty of suspense as well. The Knights aren’t giving up but neither are the Drakons. If the Knights want a war, they’ll give them one. And the Knights will never see them coming.

“Tarrant was a creature ripped from the very pages of myth and legend, except he wasn’t the villain to be defeated, but the hero.”
