Slightly confused regarding this book. Requested it because I thought I could read it on my kindle, but only gives me option to download a protected pdf. Tried to do that on PC and it won't let me open it. Disappointed to say the least.
Teddy finds out that his parents are hiding a secret from him, what will he do about it?
This is fantastically illustrated there's no doubt about that, although I found Teddy's chin slightly unnerving.
The story is pretty basic and lacks in places but it gives room for a more in depth look in other stories.
Again the characters are lacking, Teddy the main character doesn't come off all that great. He's shallow and whiney, though given he's a teenager I guess this could be forgiven.
The other characters do need better development, there's a lot that can be done especially with the story.
I did enjoy reading this though.
I was pretty into this in the beginning. The main character, Teddy, ends up posting a picture of his Dad and then the past starts to creep on him and his family. Teddy soon realizes he doesn't know his Mom and Dad as well as he thought he did. I liked where it was going but a bit into the book the Mom annoyed me and I felt her reactions were very unrealistic to the situation. That ruined things for me. I understand she wants them to go back to living a normal life but she can't just expect everything that has happened to just go away just like that. I'm glad it ended up being a quick read. I did enjoy majority of the art. There were times I wish the art could have been a little bit more detailed but then there were other shots that ended up looking really nice.
Overall a pretty decent story. I am thankful for Netgalley for giving me the chance to read this for my honest opinion.
I initially requested this one for the artwork and ended quite surprised with how much I enjoyed it. The story unfolded really well, the illustrations were gritty which added to the overall atmosphere.
A decent standalone with great atmospheric art with a dark finale. The truth isn't always what we want to hear after all
This graphic novel has some of the best art I've seen recently. Coupled with a compelling story.
Not a very compelling read for me. There is this guy, Teddy, which post a pic of his drunk dad on the internet, someone tracks him down and he discovers that his parents were put into Witness Protection Program. Instead of being sensible an asking his parents what happened and why - not that his parents are helping with it, as they are being very hush hush with-, he decided to go detective with it and doing his own investigation, asking around and this sort of thing.
I read until he stabs a mand, puts him in a hospital, and his mother, devoid of feelings tells him the man is going to survive. So, your son stabs a man and you don't even scream at him or cry or get enraged... really? All the characters are quite plain, not very enganging, and the plot doesn't calls or hold my attention. Even when it seems Teddy's dad was put into the program for doing someting wrong. I am sorry, but the characters lack the strenght, force or charisma to make it work or at least salvable.
