Adventure Time is always an exciting comic to pick up. Often times it conveys messages for readers of all ages, and I think that is something everyone can appreciate.
I requested this book based on a friend's recommendation. I don't think I understand the humour.
I love watching Adventure Time, but sometimes I find that I miss some of the little jokes and nuances that the creators have put in. This book was like watching an episode but at my own pace. I got to enjoy everything and thoroughly appreciated it!
A wonderful myriad of tales and stories presented in a beautiful array of different art styles that any fan of the critically claimed show will enjoy to the very fullest.
i've only seen this show a handful of times and still found this collection to be really fun and entertaining. i'm sure for someone who loves the show, it'd be a 5 star read!
I received the ebook from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
I'm already a fan of Adventure Time and was curious what it would be like. It's a collection of short stories, With different writers and artists tackling each one. I really enjoyed seeing them collected together like this. Each one with a different style. Fun seeing creative people putting their own flavor to characters I'm already familiar with.
I recommend this to fans of Adventure Time.
A fun collection of small, one-off Adventure Time stories done by different combinations of artists and writers. Some are better than others, but anyone who is a fan of the show will find something to enjoy.
'Adventure Time Comics Vol. 1' is a series of short adventures by lots of different writers and artists. It's a really creative graphic novel.
With stories by Art Baltazar, Katie Cook, Tony Millionaire and others, there are new stories and art styles every few pages. There is a story about the toothpaste fairy who lives in the castle Jake makes out of Finn's toothpaste. Finn thinks he can build bookshelves and furniture, but he uses squirrel wood, so the furniture turns into piles of squirrels. Marceline has to finish a song to help out a ghost in her guitar. BMO becomes a superstar, but at what cost?
Every story in this collection is good. Some are stronger with story, and some with art, but the pace was good, the variety was excellent, and I had a great time reading these.
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from kaBOOM!, BOOM! Studios, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.
Though I've not watched the show much, I could tell this book does a pretty good job of capturing the essence of the source material, both its quirkiness and its heart. The advantage to a collection such as this one, with several authors/artists, is that each contributor brings a different style and perspective. This means that if one story doesn't work for you its worth trying a second one.
“Adventure Time Comics Vol. 1” is the perfect comic collection for beginning readers. All of the beloved characters from the show are there, and the stories are short but fun. Each story features a different artistic style, so it is also a good introduction to the world of comics in general. Of course, it isn’t just for kids!
These comics seemed more like strips; They were short and sweet but they felt like they had little to no reason for being there.
I have to be honest. I have never read or seen adventure time until now. This is probably not the best book for a novice. I say this because it is a collection of comic shorts by various people across the world. For example Art Balthazar does the first comic about the toothpaste fairy. If you liked the Tiny Titans, then you would love that comic. There are some dark ones in the style of Prince Valiant etc. I think those who already know and love the series, will love this book. As for me, it was just okay.

This is such a fun collection - it's super short stories written and illustrated by a bunch of different people. This means that you get to experience Adventure Time from a bunch of different perspectives and in different illustration styles (one of my favorite things). Despite the different writers, the collection maintains the spirit and quirkiness of the show, and they really nailed the characterizations. If you enjoy the one-off little stories in the back of collections, this will be right up your alley.
A great mix of artists and writers bringing together the best and funniest bits that we all love about Adventure Time with visits from iconic characters and princesses in a variety of art styles that all do the show justice..
I am a big fan of both the Adventure Time TV show and the comic books, so I was delighted to have a chance to read this compilation of different cartoonists showing their version of the Land of Ooo! My favorites were "BMO Deluxe," "Riviera Reverie," and "Ticked-Off." As these were all shorts, they didn't have the complexity of the regular Adventure Time graphic novels. However, the different illustrations of Jake, Finn, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline were fun to look at, and overall, I was pleased with the collection.
