Overall I did think this book was good, I did find it somewhat predictable but it was a fast paced read.

I would be interested in reading more from this author in the future

Evernight Teen and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Girl Without a Face. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Destiny Mathieu wakes up in the hospital after an accident, although she cannot remember what transpired. Her mother visits every day, but something doesn't seem quite right with her. After being released from the hospital, things go from bad to worse. Will Destiny be able to remember the truth behind the accident? Why does Destiny have the feeling that her mother is not telling her the complete story?

The premise of Girl Without a Face is interesting, but the book falls short on the execution of the ideas. The dialogue between the characters seems stilted and forced in places, written in a way that does not feel natural. The writing style is off putting, with choppy sentences and errant phrases that keep the book off balance. The dream sequences, designed to help reveal Destiny's true story, seem to be there only to keep the plot moving towards the eventual conclusion. For these reasons, I would be hesitant to recommend Girl Without a Face to other readers.

I enjoyed this thriller so much! Had me on the edge of my seat the whole time!

I'm torn on this one because while Girl Without a Face's plot was so very good, the way it was delivered wasn't.

What killed the book for me was when much of the story was given away in the beginning, and at that point I was disappointed the suspense had disappeared. The story could have been very creepy and had me on the edge of my seat had this not happened.

The dialogue between characters and Destiny's thoughts were written woodenly without emotion. I get that she has amnesia, but her thoughts repeated themselves endlessly. She also trusted the neighbor boy, Gabriel, way too much too soon for someone who can't remember who she is or anything from her past, not to mention the complete lack of chemistry between them.

The ending was too over-the-top unbelievable with a cartoonish antagonist. Plus things just worked out a little too neatly at the end.

Overall, Girl Without a Face is a quick read that could have been spectacular had it been completely fleshed out. I look forward to Medeia Sharif growing as a writer and will try out more of her work in the future.

Thanks netgalley for introducing me to an author I probably wouldn't have even looked at before. The characters are very real. Catchs your attention, than keeps it, while teaching about bullies and how they can change. Like the surprise with "mom".

This book sounded so cool but overall it was a really confusing story.
Even though the premise intrigued me the story was lacking of descriptions of places and characters and the dialogs between the characters were so weird.

The story is set up like a mystery novel with the potential to be really great, but it kinda fell short. With the lack of descriptions and awkward word flow, I found myself distracted a lot. The plot was easily predicted from the very first chapters, and I kept reading hoping I was wrong, but it ended exactly how I thought it would.

It was easy to read, and very short. I think this novel would be better for middle grade readers.

The story alternates between awake Destiny and asleep Destiny. It gives the feeling that something is very wrong, and it's kinda creepy, but it could have been executed better.

The character development was lacking, and there was very little chemistry between Gabriel and Destiny.

The writers style feels very explain-y, in that she takes time to explain things that readers should already pick up on.

This would be great for young teens, but not so great for adults.

Destiny awakes with amnesia and after returning to her strict, restrictive home with her mother, she begins to question why this reclusive lifestyle feels so different to her personality. With only a phone she can't access due to a pass code, a memory of a memorial marker near her crash site and a helpful neighbour to assist her with getting her memory back, Destiny learns things about her new life that will change her world forever.

I have so many mixed feelings about this book, I'm not really sure where to start. Unfortunately, with this one, the cons outweigh the pros, but I have read some other reviews from people who rated this book really highly, so please check those out before deciding whether to read this book.

Cons:
- The twist was pretty transparent from the very start of the book. I kept hoping it would be misleading us and we expected the twist, then were given something completely different, but the story played out exactly the way I knew it would and I didn't particularly find that enjoyable.
- The writing style of this book. It felt very explanatory, but it's hard to explain exactly what I mean by this. The speech felt unnatural and the writing style itself felt very stiff, taking me away from the story regularly.
- It felt patronising in a way, having every aspect of the story being explained to the reader as though we can't understand the implied twists and plot lines ourselves. I noticed this quite a few times and felt that a lot of things didn't need to be explained as though an alien from another planet was reading this book.

Pros:
- This book was really short. I sped through it in one sitting and I was fairly grateful for that.
- The concept is a really cool idea and the twist would make a good story, if it had been done better. The idea itself (without giving away spoilers) is pretty creepy and if done well, could have been a really shocking, intriguing story line.

As I said, there are plenty of positive reviews for this book, so if you think the premise sounds interesting, do go ahead and check it out, but unfortunately this one just wasn't for me.

First of all I want to thank Netgalley and Evernight Teen for providing me with this book in exchange for an honest review

Ok, I thought it would be hard to finish this book, but in fact it has been much easier and faster to read than I expected, so I love that.

On the other hand talking about the plot,I think has been predictable, you can see what happens and how everything is going to trigger from the beginning, which is a shame because it has the potential to be a creepy and mysterious book with all the letters , but that takes away some points to it

Destiny is a good main character, but also is trusting and innocent so she makes some strange decisions during the book, her relationship with Gabriel began in the most creepy way I've ever read, but when the relationship begins to progress, I think becomes addictive, so I enjoyed their relationship at the end

I would recommend this book if you have never read mystery before and you want something quick to start, but I try to be honest, the idea is absolutely great, it has caught me but when it ends as you imagine it ends up being disappointing

It's pretty predictable, the plot is so easy to identify from the very beginning. But it's entertaining, I couldn't stop reading until I finished it. I just wanted that Destiny knew what was really going on.

Obviously, I didn't like the maybe-romance and the little exaggerated ending (for the mother), but I enjoyed thee story. It's short and easy to read. It's all about Destiny needing to find out what's going on with her mother and her past. But it has no depth in the characters' development.

At least, I see progress between this book and the previous story I read of the same author (52 Likes). Maybe she needs improve in keeping the intrigue about what is happening. But is a good book. Not a wonder, but I enjoyed reading it.

It was wild from start to finish. It definitely felt like a Lifetime movie. It was extremely over the top. Romance was pretty much nonexistent. The love interest was too perfect.

**I received a free copy of THE GIRL WITHOUT A FACE from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review**

Destiny awakes in a hospital following an automobile accident with amnesia. Once home, seemingly devoted mother becomes increasingly controlling, abusive and unhinged.

If I could rename this book, I'd call it Captain Obvious. I had the entire plot figured out before the end of the first chapter.

Medeia Sharif isn't a bad writer. She strings together engaging sentences that flow seamlessly from page to page. The premise of the plot had the makings for a great mystery or thriller but the execution was one of the worst I've ever seen. Middle grade or less savvy teen readers might not see the obvious "twists" (even calling them twists feels like a stretch) and might enjoy the story, which is why I gave two stars instead of one.

Right from the start there is this feeling that something isn't right. And then it becomes clearer with every chapter, that Destiny's mother has problems. More and serious problems than the car accident her daughter was in and is in the hospital for. And the same is to say for Destiny herself. She is pretty banged up and can't remember anything about her life before the accident. When her mother does whatever it takes to keep her in the house, hidden away from neighbors, friends and family, Destiny starts to rebel and suddenly her life is in danger.
I read this book in one sitting, couldn't put it down. This eerie feeling that something is wrong, but nothing is making sense - it was there from the first chapter and held throughout the whole book. All I wanted to do, was to shake the mother and help Gabriel to get the girl out of the house and away from the crazy woman. "Girl Without a Face" was a great read and I enjoyed it a lot. If you like books about troubled teens, grieving parents and hope - this is a book you want to read.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, NetGalley and Evernight Teen!
