I really love the premise of this series. Far too often when someone writes a "plus-size" character they are trying to lose the weight and/or they have no confidence until they've begun the process of losing it. The first book in this series tackled the idea of getting to a place of acceptance without a need to change. This book tackled what happens when you've already reached that point.
Valerie isn't lacking for confidence at all. What's she lacking is a brother who won't stop getting in her way of living her own life. Especially when the life she wants to live involves his best friend, Logan.
I enjoyed this story but, honestly, the whole protective brother thing annoyed me. I get it, to a point, Brett was super pushy, but Valerie never stepped in and stopped him from being that way. People treat you the way you allow them to.
I really did like Valerie and Logan together and I thought the idea of her sex list being the catalyst to Logan finally giving into his feelings was perfect, even though I wish that part of the story would've been expanded on. It could've made for a really funny scene when she told him what the list really meant.
Overall, this was a pretty good read. I didn't like it as much as the first book but I am really looking forward to the next book and really hope it's about Max!!
Funny, steamy and with a solid story - I really enjoyed this book! There were a couple moments that had me laughing out loud and the romance was sweet. I am loving this series and highly recommend it!
Honestly, I did not enjoy this book. Valerie goes from being stifled under her older brother's strict control to then being under Logan's strict control. There is very, very little mention of Valerie being "plus-sized", just random statements of her curvy figure and how easy it is for her to attract guys, all of which pretty much negates the title of the book. The ending was also very abrupt--no word on Paul's potential lawsuit, the state of Logan's liquor license, etc.

Alison Bliss’ “A Perfect Fit” series ceases to amaze me. I thought Size Matters (A Perfect Fit #1) was a terrific read, well On the Plus Side (A Perfect Fit #2) was even better (who would have thought that possible?)!!! I am smitten with Valerie’s and Logan’s love story.
As long as Val can remember, she has had a crush on her big brother’s (Brett’s) best friend, Logan. But…Logan would never give her the time of day. But as can be guessed, there is more to it than Val being the pesky younger sibling of his best friend….Logan likes Val as well, but his loyalty is to his bud and he would never break that bro code and date Val…or would he. Now that Logan has returned from an 8-year absence, he just may have to rethink his loyalties as Val is “smokin’ hot” and he may not be able to keep away anymore.
So the stage has been set…. hunky crush guy, Logan, has returned to town. Val, the pesky younger sister, has grown up and boy does she have curves. You can guess what happens…. SPARKS! I really enjoyed how both Val and Logan tried to deny the attraction but to no avail. It had my laughing and swooning (not necessarily at the same time). Keeping the relationship, a secret from Brett definitely added to the “sexiness” of their relationship. How long could or would they keep it a secret? What would happen when ‘Brett found out as he is such a loose canon with respect to his sister and men.
In the beginning, Brett convinces Val to go to the opening of the new bar ‘Bottoms Up’, which sets the stage for all that is to come and we get an appreciation for the relationship between Val and Brett:
“She knew better than to hang out in bars with her older and only – thank God – brother. Every time she’d done so in the past, the nights had always ended the same way. Brett would spend the entire evening hovering over her like a rapid pit bull, daring any single guy with a glint in his eye to look her way. And eventually, one of them would. At least one brave soul, brimming with liquid courage, would be dumb enough-or drunk enough-to risk approaching her while Brett stood guard. Then the potentially suicidal man would quickly find out what a hot-tempered asshole her brother could be. It was inevitable.”
I enjoyed how Val insinuated herself into the inner workings of Bottoms Up, though I knew that some of her choices would inevitably come back to bite her in the derrière. She has some wicked bar tending skills. And, she knows how to take car of herself.
The sparks/chemistry between Val and Logan is off the charts. Their journey was filled with bumps along the way, but I certainly was caught up in the journey. The way Logan described his attraction to Val was exquisite:
“He’d never met anyone who oozed sex appeal like Valerie did. It was as if a bright sexual aura hung permanently in the air around her and saturated his skin whenever he got near her. The kind of excruciating tension that started in the balls and drove men like him to the nearest bathroom to yank their dicks in order to establish some modicum of control. Actually, sexy didn’t begin to describe her accurately. It was more like she was a work of art, and her gorgeous body was the canvas. One he’d happily paint over and over again using only his tongue. Take that, Leonardo da Vinci.”
Do not be fooled, this story has more than sexual attraction and hot bodies…there is some depth to the storylines which also had me reading far into many a night when sleep should have been my priority and not reading this book. Logan has a mighty strong need to have his new business venture succeed, and it will pull at your heart strings (sorry, need to leave some things for you to discover when you read this book).
As I continue to explore the writings of Alison Bliss, I am amazed at how well I become engaged and trapped into the world she has created. I can hardly wait for the third book in this series “More to Love”.

On The Plus Side, is the second title in the Perfect Fit series, that features a curvy heroine. This story is a contemporary romance and revolves around a forbidden romance with a brother's best friend trope. Although this title can be read as a standalone, the characters from Size Matters, appear in within the story line, and their story also continues.
Val is a completely captivating and endearing heroine, and for me I can totally relate to having a few extra curves. I love that she is curvy, sassy, sweet, smart and vivacious. The fact that she is so confident and comfortable in her own skin really appeals to me as a reader, I tend to have enough of my own insecurities, so don't want to read about a character obsessing over their size. In no way is Val fixated by her size, instead she flaunts what she has and uses what it to her advantage.
Logan is handsome, caring, loyal, hard working, sexy, driven and determined to do the right thing. He's torn in a few different directions when it comes to loyalty, friendship and family. I quite liked that he had his own vulnerabilities even though he is a sexy, and appealing alpha character.
Val and Logan's story is sweet, and sexy and at times it is incredibly steamy! The sexual tension between this pair is off the charts. I loved the banter between this duo, it is fun and flirty and quite often full of humor and sexual innuendo. On more than one occasion I found myself laughing out loud.
For me I found the ending to be a tad rushed and a little on the predictable side. I wasn't sold on the first book Size Matters, as some of the heroine's personality traits frustrated me, but I really enjoyed this title and will be eagerly awaiting the next title in this series. I would recommend On The Plus Size, to anyone who enjoys a contemporary romance with a touch of humor, a curvy heroine, or a brother's best friend trope.
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
I loved this one! Valerie and Logan were all kinds of perfect for each other. I love the whole "best friend's little sister" trope...it always leads to a relationship that gets a little deeper. They know each other...know how to push one another's buttons and get what they way. I liked seeing Valerie owning her sensuality and how she took over her bartending duties with such vigor. It's clear that she is not about to let anyone control her. And Logan, poor thing, can't see the best in him, when all he wants is to take care of those closest to him. Watching these two combust was all kinds of perfect.
Alison Bliss has an amazing series going and I can't wait to see what comes next! I hope that Max gets a book soon!

This is the second book in the series. I really enjoyed this one. It had the humor like the first book. Valerie has so much self confidence makes me wish I was the confidant. She's always had a thing for her brother's best friend. Now Logan is back in town and maybe it's a sign to take the bull by the horns when it comes to Logan. Logan fights everything within himself when it comes to his attraction to Valerie, but when temptation is right in his bar can he find the will to no touch Valerie? If you like dirty talkers then Logan is the man for you because he's champ when it comes to dirty talk. I like that Valerie is best friends with Leah from Size Matters because we get see how Sam and Leah are enjoying their HEA.
This was an okay read for me. I didn't like this book as much as I did the first book in the series, Size Matters. I hate to say it but there it is. There were parts that I liked a lot and other parts that made me want to pull my hair out. I did find this book to be a fairly quick read and I did want to see Valerie and Logan get their happily ever after.
Logan is back in town for the first time in a lot of years. He has just opened a new bar and needs it to be successful pretty quickly so that he can help his mom out. Valerie has always had a crush on her older brother's best friend and isn't sure what to do now that he is back in town. When Logan finds himself in need of a comptent bartender, Valerie decides that she is the right person for the job.
Let's get to some of the stuff that bothered me about this book. Valerie's brother is over the top. I hated him and can't understand why Valerie has allowed him to have so much say in her life. I liked Valerie a whole lot less just because she doesn't stand up to her brother. I think that this book would have been so much better if his character just wasn't around. Not only did Valerie not stand up to her brother, she didn't always make Logan listen to her. She is supposed to be this really confident character but she doesn't speak up when it really matters. I just didn't get it.
I liked Logan and Valerie as a couple and thought they had a lot of chemistry. I really did want to see them figure out how to make things work with each other. The sexier moments in this book were very well done and sometimes even laced with a bit of humor at times. I thought that their feelings for each other felt really genuine.
This book can easily be read as a stand alone story even though it is the second book in the series. I did enjoy seeing the characters from the first book in this story but this story would work well on its own. I plan to read more from Alison Bliss in the future.
I received an advance reader edition of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley.
So I started off really liking this book. Girl has crush on childhood friend, boy moves away, girl still has feelings but gets on with her life, boy comes back and feelings come back. What's not to like? Especially when boy has feelings too. All in all it was a sweet story.
But.
There were a few things that I did not like and it kind of bugs me-the last one dropped my rating from a 4 to a 3.
Logan is kind of an ass. He sees what he wants to see without wanting to know the truth, and guess what? It bit him in the ass. Then again, Valerie didn't try to make him see the truth, just let him keep on thinking what he wanted. But truthfully, her lies and mis-truths destroyed a lot of things as well... So maybe they were perfect for each other?
But my biggest peeve, that has turned me off on the entire series was the last frikking page.

This was a fun and sexy read!First for me from this author but I'm sure it will be not the last!I enjoyed On The Plus Side it was fast paced and lightning.
Val and Logan are both lovable characters.Val is strong, funny, confident and sassy.I loved that she was comfortable with her body. There were only sometimes that she was like a child but still I loved her.Logan is dominant and sexy.
Overall it was a sexy and quick read perfect for the beach!
The cover photo definitely captures the story. I cannot tell you how many times I've read a BBW romance and the cover model is way too thin for the character described or it's just a complete misrepresentation all together. Love it!
The story is everything you'd expect from this author. You have fun characters and a story that sizzles. That being said... I wanted a little more of the ending. The story was concluded but once you got there it seemed to end quite quickly.
This is for sure an enjoyable read. I definitely love a read where the woman doesn't loathe her curves and the man loves every inch of them. The story was sexy and leaves you looking forward to the next read. This is definitely an author I am always willing to share with other readers.
Valerie and Logan were seriously hot. Her brother, on the other hand, was completely ridiculous and over blown. He could have been just as over-protective without a fist fight every time a guy wanted to buy his sister a drink. Putting that strange plot thread to the side, I loved everything else about this story. Logan was quite the stand up guy, and Valerie was confident and fearless.
Alison Bliss has done it again! I loved On the Plus Side! It is such a such a flirty, fun story! I really like that this story is about a curvy woman who isn’t afraid to show that there is a little more to her body; something that I can absolutely relate to.
The banter between, the leading characters, Logan and Valerie is hilarious! The sexy hotness between them? Off the charts HOT! I loved Valerie’s over protective brother, Brett too. He was way over the top with his antics; but was pretty funny too! I love book cross overs too so it was nice to catch up with Sam and Leah.
This series really is fun! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, More to Love!
This is the second novel in the A Perfect Fit series. The story begins with Leah, Sam, Brett, and Valerie enjoying a night out at their friend's new bar. Brett, Valerie's overprotective brother, has made it his life's mission to hover over Valerie and make decisions for her regarding her life. Although his controlling behavior aggravates her, she allows it. Even though Valerie has had a crush on Logan "forever" and does what she can to avoid him, she tags along with Brett for a night out with her bestie, Leah. Valerie can't help but to support Logan by coming to the grand opening of his bar.
Growing up, Logan was the town's bad boy. As best friends, Logan and Brett were always getting into trouble. Logan left town because he started having feelings for Valerie and ran. Eight years later, Logan returns home in order to help his mom and open his dream bar. Logan's mom is about to lose her house, so he plans to use his profits off the bar to help save her house. During the grand opening, Logan's head bartender quits and one of the other bartenders struggles to get orders out in a timely fashion....In walks Valerie. Valerie has always wanted to try bartending, so she dazzles Logan with her flashy tricks, skills. Logan concedes and gives her a job--temporarily. As Logan and Valerie work together, their chemistry becomes undeniable. They begin a relationship built on deceit...
I'll start off by saying this was the first Alison Bliss novel I've read. I truly enjoyed the witty banter, chemistry, and love shown amongst friends. There were times I wanted to strangle both Valerie and Logan. I would've knocked Brett out long ago! Lol. I could not have tolerated my brother making decisions about my personal life, even if his actions were out of love. At times I thought Valerie was weak and selfish. Then she'd turn around and amaze me with her awesome attitude concerning her body image!!!! I LOVE that Alison writes love stories for average women with HOT men!!! Soooo relatable. I loved Logan's honesty and the love he showered on his mom, but groaned when he talked badly about himself--"I'm not good enough for Valerie". I was extremely happy when Logan finally went after his woman!!! I read a gifted copy of this novel and all opinions stated are my own.
Are you ready to laugh out loud? ON THE PLUS SIDE is a sexy sweet love story with a heroine I absolutely adored! Alison Bliss writes sassy quips and witty banter with the best of them and never fails to make me actually laugh! Her characters are easy to root for, easy to love and it's so easy to get lost in their story.
Valerie Carmichael has always wanted Logan. He's back in town after eight years and she's not passing on this second chance to let Logan know exactly how she feels about him and what she wants. Logan feels the same way about Valerie, but there's so many reasons he shouldn't give in to the temptation. But she's irresistible and he does...
They have their bumps in the road and Valerie's brother Brett does his best to be a roadblock, but these two are meant to be. Logan and Valerie are not just hot together they are perfectly matched. The story is fun, sexy, and kept me turning the pages. I couldn't put it down until I'd read the whole book! I highly recommend it!
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Valerie Carmichael has wanted her brother's best friend for as long as she can remember- but Logan has never treated her as anything other than his best friend's kid sister in that time. Now that he is back in town, Val isn't sure if she should opt for avoidance or try to make him realize once and for all that she is all woman.
Logan's return to town was prompted by his mom's need for his help and he cannot afford to let anything distract him - especially not the curvy, vivacious blonde who has plagued his thoughts and dreams for far too many years and who is the very definition of off-limits. She seems determined to make him crazy though and it is starting to work!
Tumultuous is probably the word I would choose to describe their relationship and the feel of most of this story. When Val puts her mind to something, she is a pretty unstoppable force, but Logan is the king of hot and cold moments with a side of mixed signals thrown in. At a certain point I had to start wondering if she had any self respect after the way he treated her on multiple occasions, but when he finally stopped fighting himself and gave it they had some pretty great - and hot- moments! Val's brother Brett is a completely over the top protective loose cannon though who thinks his 26 year old sister is a baby and incapable of making her own decisions, and his temper tantrums and completely irrational response to Val and Logan's relationship made me wish I could reach into the pages more than a few times.
Despite all that, On the Plus Side was a cute story with some fun and flirty moments that provided a light read when I needed it!
On the Plus Side by Alison Bliss is book two in her A Perfect Fit series and I must say I enjoyed this book very much. Starring Valerie Carmichael, the best friend of Leah Martin (heroine of book #1), and the man she has had a crush on since she was younger. With the bold and energetic, Valerie leading the way, this book is nothing short but fun.
Valerie Carmichael is confident with her curves and completely knows how to get a man’s attention, except for the one man that she has always wanted… Logan Mathis, her overprotective older brother’s best-friend. When he left town two days after her high-school graduation, she never expected to see him again, but now he was back in their hometown of Granite, Texas and just opened a new bar, Bottom’s Up. Attending his grand opening with her brother Brett, she hoped to finally show him that she was a woman and not a little girl. However, when an incident involving Valerie leads to Logan’s head bartender suddenly quitting, Valerie decides to step in and lend a helping hand. Seeing an opportunity to finally get Logan to notice her without her big brother around 24/7, Valerie is willing to take a chance at working in Logan’s bar even if it means telling a little white lie.
Logan Mathis has always noticed Valerie, even when she was seventeen and he was twenty-one, and that was the problem. She is off-limits as the sister of his best-friend, and he is out of her league. She deserves someone better than the son of a gambler. Back in town to open his new bar, Bottom’s Up, he’s determined to make it a success and ensure he makes enough money to save his mother’s home. He has no time for distractions especially of the beautifully curvaceous kind. Unfortunately for him, Valerie is a siren and when he finds her naughty-things-to-do-list, he can’t help but rise to the challenge, and help her check off each of the items on her list. As Logan and Valerie play their games and spend more time together secretly, neither are prepared for how hard they fall in love. However, once the secrets come out will their newfound love withstand the fire or crash and burn?
Alison Bliss’ second installment to her A Perfect Fit series was filled with lots of heat. Val and Logan have definite chemistry and it just ignites on the pages. I loved how witty and sassy Val is, and how confident she is throughout the whole book. She has a big heart and I love how close she and her brother are. How they truly care for each other and how she respects and loves him even when he is overbearing at times. I also liked how strong and determined Logan is. He wants to help his mom and he’ll do everything he can to make sure she keeps her home. He also is very loyal to his friends and his friendship to Valerie’s brother, Brett, is important to him. These two characters are very much a perfect fit for each other and I couldn’t help but enjoy their story.
I also enjoyed that we got to see Leah and Sam again from book one and how their relationship has progressed. Leah in this book is more confident in this installment than she was in the previous novel and it was interesting to see her be the one to encourage Valerie to speak with Logan and giving guy-advice. I loved their friendship and how they support one another in this book and the previous book. I also liked Max in this book. He played a more involved role in this novel, and he shined in this novel. He kind of makes me think of Logan Huntzberger from Gilmore Girls, the way he is a trouble-maker yet kind with a good heart to his friends. He’s a great friend to Sam and is a good friend to Valerie in this book. I hope we get to see a book for him in this series as well.
Overall, On the Plus Side by Alison Bliss is a funny and enjoyable romance. Perfect for a summer read and I very much recommend. I can’t wait to read more by Ms. Bliss.
