This book makes a lot of sense. The rationale for this eating style (which is quite different from conventional diet plans) is clearly explained. It is for long-term health reasons as well as weight loss, and I am eager to try it out!

This book is packed with information! The author makes clear arguments for why he believes his diet advice to be the healthiest and supports his arguments with a lot of scientific and medical data. However, I did find myself saying, "Ok, I get it already .... just tell me what I should do to follow your plan!" And that advice is buried deep in even more lecturing. I have no doubt that his advice is good, but you have to be willing to wade through a lot to get to it.

There’s a lot of information out there right now about ketogenic eating. I am pretty new to this idea but basically, you eat healthy fats to fuel your body and you actively reduce your intake of carbs and sugar. Your body burns the fat for energy and you are left feeling better and your body is more efficient in how it creates energy.

The Fat for Fuel book is based on Mitochondrial Metabolic Therapy (MMT), an ideal diet using the right high fats, very low high quality specific protein and low carbs for fuel to repair and restore any individual to good health. He explains that taking a specific iron test before starting the diet is a must do. I really like the free version of cronometer online that Dr. Mercola suggests using to track daily food intake/exercise. It will show you the full macronutrient breakdown and show you if you are meeting the high fat/ketogenic targets in detail.
