This was a very hard book to get through. It's quite long and gets very confusing at times. The author recommends lots of testing and lots of changes that are rather discouraging like never eating any gluten, dairy or soy. He mixes Chinese medicine and various paleo books in a rather mishmash way. I really would have preferred far less padding and far more succinct information on practical ways to make a difference.

I very much appreciate that Hashimoto's is getting the attention it deserves. The treatments suggested in the book are surely helpful but seemed very complicated for your Average Joe or Jane. I do hope that awareness of this disease is spread thanks to the author.

How to Heal Hashimoto's by Marc Ryan, L.AC, is a book containing a lot of helpful information on how you can help yourself control your condition. The author, who has Hashimoto's and treats patients with the same condition, offers insights from both the conventional and alternative point of view. There are plenty of examples and is written in an easily understood way. Mr. Ryan refers to the 5 elements, fire, earth wood, water, and metal, and explains which part of the body each relates to.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

Felt there was a lot of padding out at the beginning and I just wanted to get to what can be done to help Hashimoto's. It rambled on too much for me and needed to cut to the chase.
