Playing the Spanish Billionaire is both sweet and hot. London is on a desperately needed vacation to Spain when she meets Mateu, a hot local who ends up taking her on a vacation of a lifetime. London's finally able to relax and not worry so much about her mother and paying for their bills, and she has a check list of what this vacation should be composed of. Number 1 on her list? Kiss a hot Spaniard. Cue the hottie Spaniard, Mateu!

But, in reality, things are not quite as simple as that. Mateu has an agenda for his little vacation with London, an agenda she doesn't know. He knows she's a hotel reviewer and he assumes she's there to do an anonymous review of his family's hotel, so he decides to woo her into giving them a good review. Of course, she's not supposed to find out that he knows who she is. Just as he's not supposed to find out she's using him to get the vacation she's always wanted. Sigh...the miscommunication thing is such a common trope, and it never fails to cause a lot of problems for the couple. And it does cause a problem for our two lovers, a potentially relationship ending problem.

I wanted to smack Mateu a little for being such a hypocrite when he found out London's little misleading agenda, because he was guilty of something just as bad, if not worse. Thankfully, he realized (with the help of his amazing mother!) what an ass he was being, and decided to get London back, in the sweetest way. When he bared himself and opened up to her, I swooned a little, ok, a lot!

If you like your romances sweet and caliente, with a hot Spaniard (can I have a hot Spaniard à la Carlos Sainz Jr., of my own, too?) then Playing the Spanish Billionaire should be on your TBR list.

Once again, I was drawn by a story by MK Meredith. The story played itself out in my heart, keeping me motionless while reading it. I loved meeting London and Mateu and their electricity was apparent from their first meeting. The chemistry is fun to watch and the battles they wage within themselves. Which made this book even better. The ending was unexpected, but was enjoyable. I laughed and cried throughput the book. I really hope there will be more books in this series. Really loved this one and can't wait to recommend to everyone this book and author. Left review on Amazon.uk

London felt a little one night stand with a Spaniard might be just the thing to help her decompress. Truth was London had been too good keeping men away the last couple of years. After working non stop to pay her mom’s medical bills and build a reputation as a sought after luxury hotel inspector for Elite Travel and Life Magazine. A string of unbreakable migraines and endless weeks of insomnia had landed her in to see her doctor more than once. Her doctor warned her if she didn’t take care of herself she wouldn’t be able to take care of her mother Alanna who had MS. So London was on vacation in Barcelona. Then a little girl about six years old came to her crying and before London knew it she stole her luggage. Then a very hot man came up to London and said “ I think I found something that belongs to you” and he had her luggage and then London hugged the man then got embarrassed as he was a stranger and pulled back and said “ This is such a relief, thank you”. Then he asked where she was going and it turned out they were going to the same place- Huntington Place. He said he was just returning from a trip. He mentioned his family owned orchards and they all worked together right along side his parents. That gave London an idea for her magazine’s Homeward Bound section. His great great grandfather established the orchard in 1870. Mateu was CEO of Huntington Place Barcelona. And it was her duty to ensure London loved her visit so much she wouldn’t be able to check out the hotel without leaving a five star review in Elite Life and Travel Magazine. They had held the coveted position of number one hotel in Barcelona four years in a row. A fifth year would have earned them induction into the magazine’s “ Hotel Of Fame”. and significant critical recognition. But they had lost it by cuts a hotel could not be number one if it didn’t have the staff to make it work. Mateu saw on London’s phone once in a lifetime. She told Mateu she worked all the time and she had a lot of responsibility back home and this was her one chance to live it up. Also this would give her a chance to live it up and also give her a chance to do her job. Hotel inspectors worked anonymously and needed to be at the hotel to do their job but this list had her going all over Barcelona, London was taking every precaution to keep from revealing why she was really there. As far as London knew Mateu was an orchard laborer and that was how he wanted to keep it. Mateu had learned a hard lesson that when women found out he was rich they lost interest in him as a man and cared only about what he could do for them ask his ex fiance. London got a text from her friend Susan and was told Mateu was actually Nicoleru Mateu CE of Huntington Place Barcelona. So he was a liar and London was really there on vacation not to do a five star review. Then London got a call from her mother and her mom told her that the medicine that worked for her was no longer covered by the insurance it would be thirty five hundred dollars a month for the medicine now. So London knew she had to take back the shoes she had bought but she was going to wear them tonight when she went to meet Mateu. London knew she would have to cancel her things she had already paid to do and get her money back. London didn’t know how she would cover everything now and how she would make ends meet. Then London had to get ready to meet with Mateu for a drink. Then London called her boss and she was doing a review but using her own name and and bank account instead of her alias She planned on playing Mateu at his own game all she had to do make Mateu think her plan was his idea all along. Mateu had no problem showing London a good time he just didn’t a good time he just didn’t like the hidden agenda and deceit. But his father wasn’t in great health and Mateu had to get the hotel rating back up then he could spend half of his time helping his father.Mateu thought London was playing right into his hands. Mateu should assume from business if it’s too easy it’s probably too easy for a reason. Already first thing he should remember to assume nothing. But he had broken both rules. London got up the next morning when they were heading to a cooking class at the hotel and she had to admit Mateu had her head swimming a bit but any woman would feel that around a man as handsome as Mateu. Margo is Alanna’s best friend since grade school. Alanna was in the hospital with a respiratory infection but Margo and London’s best friend Susan where at her side. Margo offered a small loan but London texted her mother that they would figure it out and wanted no loan. Mateu knew knew there was something between him and London but he had to keep it in check. Mateu took London to Espana Orchards - his family home. London felt she had to come clean to Mateu she hoped he would also be honest but it was a chance she had to take.
This was a great story and I loved it. I sincerely enjoyed everything about this story: the plot. The writing, and the pace. I loved how London just had to come clean with Mateu. I also loved how Mateu and his family were. It choked me up when his father fell and when Mateu lashed out at London and how she hurt. But London was still there for Mateu and his family after Mateu father fell. I also loved how Mateu’s mom took time to talk to him about London. I also loved how London the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

London’s secret was out, even before she hit the ground. She knows a secret also. Mateu is not just a simple tour guide seeking to make some change. He was the CEO of the very hotel that she came to experience and write about. But the thing was that this was just a chance to make herself have the fun that she so richly deserved. She was a hard-working woman.

This read was rich, warm and full of things specific to Barcelona. I loved the history brought in to make things feel more authentic. The sights. The sounds. The chemistry. Mateu bite off a bit more than he was expecting too. London’s world change and she had decisions to make.

This was a good afternoon read that gave you a taste of vacation and the sun of the tropics.

Sometimes we do things with the best of intentions – and they come up and bite us on the backside. Just ask Mateu. He really didn’t see anything wrong with showing a guest of his family’s hotel a memorable vacation stay. Knowing that London was doing a so called “secret” review of the hotel should have meant that everything was up to and above the highest standards. Did he really need to go overboard and insure this particular guest had a fantastic overall vacation? Probably not, but his intentions were good. Right up until he found himself falling for the lady, knowing that her impression of him wasn’t exactly accurate.

There was little that pushed London’s mad button faster than being played. Sure she needed this relaxing vacation. And okay, maybe she picked up a hotel review to make some additional money. But when she discovered just how far Mateu would go for a good review – knowing he wasn’t at all the man he’d been pretending to be… well, that was it. Game on. If he wanted to show her a good time then she’d just see how far she could push him beyond his comfort zone. After all, all’s fair, and he made the rules.

Playing The Spanish Billionaire is yet another reason why I will pick up every single release of MK Meredith’s without question whether it’s a NetGalley ARC or an Amazon purchase. She always delivers a really good story, likable characters as well as a few twists and turns to keep things interesting and fresh. Mateu and London are so good together, and in so much trouble for keeping “secrets”. Following along their romantic journey was such fun. I liked this couple and have to admit to being a bit sad when their story ended.

If you haven’t discovered MK Meredith yet… what are you waiting for? You’re missing out on some amazing Romances. I would recommend this one for any Romance reader who enjoys a solid story, believable characters and a few twists in the plot.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

London Montgomery’s has a hectic life as a secret hotel reviewer, having to keep working to fund her mother’s increasing medical bills. Now, however, she’s going to take a break from working and have a real holiday in Barcelona - or that’s what she’d planned, including devising a list of things she’s hoping to do on her dream vacation. Her arrival in the Spanish city has a dramatic encounter at the train station . . . when a handsome Catalan comes to her rescue. It turns out he’s going to the same hotel . . . . is this fate?

Her rescuer is Mateu Espasa and he’s actually the CEO of the hotel she’s staying at - but he’s not telling her that! He knows her undercover job and assumes she’s working. He’s determined to ensure she has a 5* experience so her review will reflect well on the hotel. However, the two are seriously attracted and sometimes the best laid plans can have added twists! With both keeping secret their knowledge of the other, motives are bound to be questioned and the big reveal open to misinterpretation and confrontation. When confession time arrives the reactions are heated and potentially romance killing. However the reconciliation makes it all worthwhile and the ending is both heartwarming and endearing - it certainly left a smile on my face!

This is a fast-paced, action packed and enthralling read. The author brings the characters vividly to life and it is especially easy to empathise with the main characters each having serious concerns regarding the health of one of their parents. I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read by this talented author and I have no hesitation in highly recommending this to other lovers of romance who really should also check out her other books!

I requested and received a copy of this book via NetGalley without any obligation. This is my honest opinion after reading it.

Playing the Spanish Billionaire by M.K. Meredith
This Mateu Espasa and London Montgomery's story.

Oh my goodness!! I couldn't put this book down. Wow!! this book was a perfect balance of passion, humor, secrets, family, love, etc. At times I laughed and cried. The banter and the passion between Mateu and London was so amazing. They are perfect for one another.

Mateu and London's characters will pull you in. They are so much fun. I fell in love with them and their families. There were some really funny moments that had me laughing so hard. Also, the passion and chemistry between Mateu and London was hot! You just need to read the book!

Credit also needs to be given to the descriptions of the foods, museums, orchard, and the beach. It made me feel as if I was there experiencing it. I could smell the Catalan bread (pa amb tomàquet) cooking and the fresh crisp smell of the lemons and the feel of the breeze while standing in the orchard. I want to live at the orchard, eat the Catalan bread, drink fresh lemonade, and snuggle with my sweetie!

I loved this beautifully written romance! M.K. Meredith did an amazing job! A perfect way to unwind, relax, or escape for a while. I can't express enough how much fun this story was to me. A must read!

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This vacation to Barcelona is a once in a lifetime event for London Montgomery. She's also a hotel reviewer of Elite Life and Travel Magazine. When Mateu Espasa, CEO of the Huntington Hotel of Barcelona, discovers who she is, he's determined to give her an experience she'll never forget. The more time they spend together, the more they have to fight the attraction that begins as a simmering heat but eventually erupts like a valcano!
I was gifted a copy of this book by the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Loved this book! Not only is it a wonderful romance but I learned so much about the Catalan countryside, history and culture. The incredibly descriptive writing of this author made everything come to life before me.

Mateu Espasa is the hotelier trying to get his hotel the five star rating he thinks it deserves (and truthfully needs) from London Montgomery. London is suppose to be on the vacation of a lifetime but when life trips her up again she decides to make it a working vacation. Since she works as a reviewer for a travel magazine it shouldn't be a big deal. Until she discovers exactly who Mateu is and what he's trying to do.

This is a fun, light, easy read that I think everyone will enjoy. I highly recommend it.

What a wonderfully written, fast-paced, captivating read Ms. Meredith has penned in this story, encompassing a heroine in desperate need of taking her dream vacation; a hero determined to find a way to be there for his family, even if it means using the heroine; and a couple with so much chemistry that I was surprised by how long it took for them to take their relationship from platonic to physical. The way this story started had me liking both the hero and heroine immediately, and I loved how they came face-to-face for the first time. Did Mateu set London up, or was she just one of the unlucky ones?

The dialogue was well-written and had me hooked due to the main characters back stories and their growing relationship. London needs the time away because she's under a lot of pressure trying to make ends meet and look after her mother. All she wants to do is have the chance to have a little fun, cross off a few of the items she's listed, but it's hard to let go of the worry she feels for her mother. What if something happens to her mother when London is on a different continent? Moreover, London has a few decisions to make that aren't easy. Should she give Mateu a chance, even knowing his motive for getting close with her? Should she admit the truth of why she's spending time with him after learning what she does about his ex?

While the hero, he's confident, works too much, loyal and I liked how determined he was to show London a good time, which is proven by all the things he does for her and the places he takes her. I could understand why he reacts the way he does when London admits why she's been spending time with him, allowing him to show her the best of Barcelona. Yet, at the same time, I found he was being a tad unfair, considering he was using her just as much. But what I liked most of all about the hero is his love for his family and that he would do anything for them. Really, he's lucky to have such a wonderful mom who isn't afraid to knock some sense into him -- so to speak -- when it comes to London. Advice about how he shouldn't let the heroine go when it's palpable she's special to him.

Overall, Ms. Meredith has penned a fantastic read in this second book of her International Temptation series where the fast-paced plot together with the main characters dialogue, chemistry and back stories entertained me from start to finish. The way this story ended had me smiling, because Mateu certainly delivers in making things right with the heroine the way he helps her cross off another item on her list and gives her the best surprise ever. I would recommend Playing the Spanish Billionaire by MK Meredith, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Victoria Davies, Stephanie London, Naima Simone or Sarah Balance.

London and Mateu have a pull that jumps off the pages and grabs a hold of the reader.

London is finally on a well deserved vacation. But first thing she is taken by a little girl who helps someone run off with her luggage. Enter the sexy Mateu who retrieves her luggage and takes off with her heart. Her secret identity isn't in play this vacation but little does she know that when her mother gets ill, again, she will need to use it.

Mateu wants to be with his family, in Barcelona. But his work keeps him from them. Looking for a way to work part time from Barcelona he uses London's secret identity to get what he wants most.

At times this book lulled but it was a great story. I was happy, sad, laughing out loud, screaming, and crying. London's life is one that we on the outside look in would thinks it's perfect. Yet she is unhappy. When her an Mateu start something and she doesn't believe it's real it made me sad. I laughed out loud at the nude beach scene. I cried at the way he treated her at the restaurant. I shook my head when she pushed his buttons and screamed at him when turn about wasn't fair for him. You want more for both of them and when their happily ever after is in reach and then it goes up in smoke, you keep reading to see if it can turn out.

Loved! This is a delicious story that starts with London arriving in Barcelona for her dream vacation of a lifetime. Upon arrival, an urchin swipes her luggage and a handsome local man gets it back for her. They begin to speak and are both a bit smitten.

London is a professional hotel reviewer and is published under an alias. Unfortunately, one of Mateu's employees knows her alias and has tipped him off to who she is. Thus begins an elaborate deceit - Mateu's of his true purpose in wining and dining her, and London's in that she knew who is was, but allowed it anyway and why she allowed it. Somewhere along the way, in the midst of all the deceit, each secretly fell in love with the other.

The author has a wonderful way to storytelling that just makes me fall in love with her characters. As if it wasn't enough to fall in love with London, Mateu, and their families, she made me fall in love with Barcelona. Her descriptions of the region are beautiful and made me feel almost like I was there....and like I'd like to travel there and experience the region for myself.

Fans of the genre will love this book. The author is on my must read authors' list and should probably be on yours as well. This is a must read novel.

Unfortunately Barcelona was shown in a negative light for me. Too much emphasis was put on how unsafe it is to not keep an iron hold on your belongings at all times, for fear that they might be stolen. It is referenced a few times. One of the times was rather comical, maybe that should have been the only time mentioned.
Mateu and London are both keeping the identity of their jobs secret from each other. Because of this, there are so many misunderstood moments. Mateu is a proud man. So it is hard for him to admit when he is wrong. London truly did come to Barcelona with intentions of only a vacation. Circumstances happened that changes these plans.
I enjoyed the plot of the book once I got over the negatives before mentioned, if not for that I would have given a five star rating.
