Unstoppable is book 3 in the Untouchables series. It can be read as a standalone but I hadn't read the previous books and there were a few minor details that I was lost on. I really enjoyed this book and it is one of the best romantic suspense books I have ever read.
Mick is set on avenging his brother's death. When Destiny needs his help protecting her young charge will he be able to put that aside? Or will he push both of them aside?
I don't want to give anything away so I'm going to keep this short. I loved this story and the characters. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. I'd highly recommend to romantic suspense lovers!
Rating: 4.5 stars
I enjoy romantic suspense titles, but this one wasn't very well balanced, in my opinion. There was too much suspense and the title stopped feeling like a romance and the connection with the main characters was never allowed to develop. I have chosen to DNF this title.
I thank you for the opportunity to read and review.
This is the third book in the series and can be read as a stand alone read, though you are better reading it as part of the series. This is a fantastic romantic suspense story that will have you hooked till the last page. This is definitely a page turner of a book. The characters are fantastic and very well developed. This is a fast paced action romance story to keep you reading long into the night. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended

If you are looking for a fast-paced romantic thriller, then look no further than Unstoppable by Cindy Skaggs. The action literally begins from the very first few pages and never lets up until the adrenaline induced ending! WOW!
Dez is a cop who finds herself on the run with a sexy biker, Mick, and a young boy, Nate. She’s promised to protect Nate no matter what the costs when his ruthless drug lord father tries to kidnap him. Not only is she running from a psycho, she’s running from a past and from the feelings she has for Mick. She doesn’t know it, but Mick has been fantasizing about her too. These two are extremely complicated characters, so I knew this wouldn’t be a normal romance, and I was so glad it wasn’t!
Mick is a bad boy, and Dez is also a tough cookie! They are perfect for one another. The book is told from their two different POVs, so readers get an in-depth look at what makes these characters tick. They are complex characters with many different levels that are revealed with each chapter. Mick is a bad boy, but he does love those he cares about with his whole heart. That’s the reason he is going after Sully, the drug lord. Dez is tough, and she does have a past that completely dictates how she lives her life. In fact she says,”She did better on the run, shooting at people rather than taking care of them. She was an un-nurturer, born to disconnect and disassemble.” However, Mick has started to make her feel again. But, it’s sweet Nate who really gets past those defensive walls. He makes her start questioning her current philosophy on love and life. Isn’t it amazing what kids can do?
I had not realized this was a part of a series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I do wish I had begun at the beginning. In fact, her first books are now on my list to read, and I will probably re-read this one as well. It’s the perfect combination of spice, sweetness, and action! I’m glad I discovered a new writer as talented as Cindy Skaggs.

Sometimes revenge can colour your life, blinkering you to possibilities and refuting your expectations. For Mick Donovan, seeking revenge is his life’s focus. He won’t join law enforcement agencies to achieve his goal but will work with them. His current undercover partner is Destiny Harper, and they’re working with an FBI Task Force to bring down a notorious drug lord, the person Mick has been after for years….. When Destiny is endangered in an ambush, she and Mick will work together to protect the child the drug lord is after, even if it involves pretending to be a family . . . . . Even if it means returning to the hometown Destiny left years ago, facing her past and discovering a new possible future – if only they can survive the present!
This is another superb read by this highly talented romantic suspense author. Cindy Skaggs brings her characters and scenarios to life in the readers’ imagination. It is a fast paced, enthralling page turner to read, with many mysteries to be revealed en route. It involves family, loyalties, blizzards, secrets, betrayal and high ranking double dealing by those you should be able to rely on. There’s danger, gangsters, bullies and dealers as well as support, family, love and romance. I’d love to see this as an action packed film!
I was gifted a copy of this and chose to read and review it. This is my honest opinion after reading this, IMHO, superb novel. I will continue to look out for my by this author in future as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this and previous books I’ve read by her. If you enjoy brilliant romantic suspense, you should definitely try this book!
Having read the previous one in this series was glad to be getting another one to satisfy my appetite. In this one it centers around Destiny and Mick whom both have quite the story themselves. Once again this author gives you plenty of danger and suspense to tingle the toes but she also hot wires it with heat. Your heart will get pulled to the direction of Destiny thanks to her predicament. I found though I liked this one a bit better with growth also coming out of the writing. This one really holds your attention with making for one that makes you grumble in having to put down. It certainly did satisfy my thirst for what I wanted it too but ending quicker than I wanted. It seems that is the way of good reading.
WOW! What a page turner! The final "chapter" in a trilogy, although I read it as a stand alone. I regret not knowing there were two before it that I could've read first. Anyway, the characters were well developed, the story was convincing, and there was plenty of action and romance. My heart hurt for Nate, the small boy that was hurt the most, but showed his capacity of love and trust in the strangers trying to protect him.
This review is based on the ARC provided by the author and/or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Although I haven't read the first two books in the series, I feel that the author did a good job with the background information pertaining to the events leading up to this story.
Mick is out for revenge about the life changing tragedy which occurred when he was a young boy. He doesn't have much faith in the legal system but as his best friend Blake is working undercover on the same case, he works with him and his partner under his own volition. Their objective is to capture Sully, an evasive drug lord who is responsible for endless criminal offenses.
Dez, short for Destiny is Blake's partner and their mission is to protect Nathan, a young boy who is being pursued by Sully. She works very closely with Mick who would like nothing better than putting Sully where he belongs. Behind bars! Mick and Dez have become good friends during their time working together but there has always been an underlying sexual attraction between them. Something neither of them is willing to act upon, due to unpleasant past experiences.
There is an ambush where Dez finds herself in the middle of a bloodbath. Against all odds, she manages to get to Nathan before those looking for him. Mick is there as soon as he learns of the situation and it becomes blatant that there is a mole in the organisation. Not knowing who it might be, they decide to go to a safe place where it will not be easy to locate them. This takes Dez to a past that she left behind a long time ago. She is prepared to face the consequences to keep Nathan safe. Things get ugly when she comes face to face with her past and the ripple effects are quite unexpected. They are in more danger than anticipated. This brings them closer together and they become friends with benefits but the sparks between them say that there is more at stake. Can they deny their feelings if they come out of this dangerous predicament?
This story is well paced, action packed and sensual. It's a thrilling page turner with surprises at every turn.
I received a complimentary eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Unstoppable is a book three in the series that I just jumped right into. After some research, I found out that this book continues right from where the last one ended. Even though I felt a bit disconnected right at the beginning of the story, it didn't take me long to figure out who the players were, their goals, and their relationships. The author did a great job setting up the stage even for a newbie readers to the series, but if you have a chance, start from the beginning. I really liked the author's style and voice, and can only think that her other books are as enjoyable and entertaining as this one was.
The complex, yet very loyal, relationship Destiny Harper has to Mick Donovan was a rather beautiful thing to witness. I liked these two together. I liked the chemistry between them, they were obviously attracted to each other yet never had acted on it. They had a true friendship with the trust and devotion it entails. They were willing to die for each other, and that was before they opened up their minds to the love they had in their hearts for each other. The allure, the burning feelings, the desire, it all heightened because of the dangerous situation they were in. They had a solid friendship between them, understanding and knowledge of each other like no one else, and that was the perfect foundation to start to build something more, something lasting, something that scared them both to the bone. But first, they had to survive the predicament they were in.
Little Nate was a trooper. He was smart, fun little guy, yet so full of sorrow and pain, it just broke my heart. The bond he had with Mick and Dez was touching, bringing me to tears several times.
The suspense in the story was riveting. It was scary, dangerous, deadly, and vicious, and had me seriously questioning even the good guy's integrity. Very clever twists in the plot had me literally jumping on my seat with the scare it gave me (while reading in a public park!). Very well done build up with the tension, aggression, doubts, and questions when it came to the mystery of the murder, and the suspense and action with the drug cartel.
Rough, raw, and edgy does not only describe the action and suspense, but also the characters and the situations they are in. Not only was the dialog witty, but so were the unexpected twists in the plot. I love finding new authors who manage to blow my mind with they work, and Cindy Skaggs had me questioning everything and everyone while reading the Unstoppable. What a great, chilling yet entertaining ride it was!

3.5*
I didn't realise when I started reading this book that it was actually part of a series, book 3 to be precise (since there was nothing to suggest it was anything other than a standalone) While this can be read in isolation I personally would have preferred to have read the previous two books first, there were several times I really wished I'd at least read Blake and Vicky's book.
Now maybe because this is book 3 it takes off running straight away and within a few pages we're in the thick of the action and from there it never really lets up.
Destiny Harper (Dex) is a detective on loan to an FBI task force trying to take down the powerful and seemingly untouchable ruthless drug lord, Patrick Sullivan.
She's partnered with the hot, sexy tattooed Mick Donovan who's dedicated his life to avenging his brothers death. One of the things I felt I missed out on was Mick's background but I'm assuming that was covered in the previous books.
Dex sets off to help with what should have been a simple retrieval. The agents from Witness Protection arrive early and are given the go ahead with no backup. Dex arrives to the sound of gunfire and the first thing she sees is an officer down. Patrick Sullivan it appears is hellbent on claiming his only son Nathan.
Fortunately Nathan was at a sleep over and Dex promises his dying mother she'll protect him and so she scrambles to get to Nathan before Sullivan's goons can find him.
Obviously someone's leaked the information about Nathan which means Dex and Mick are in this alone and so with no other option they take Nathan and run.
Dex heads to the only place she can think of to keep them hidden and safe, the one place she swore she'd never set foot in again the place that made her into the woman she is today.
This is an entertaining read with a little bit of everything, it was helped by the fact that I liked both Dex and Mick (especially Mick) and Peg, can't forget Peg.
My only regret is not realising and therefore not reading the previous books first.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley and Entangled Publishing.
This was not a standalone, I was lost, could not figure out the characters and gave up
She does it again, folks. No one seems to know how to start things off with a bang like Cindy Skaggs. Unstoppable’s heart pounding beginning set the stage for the murder and mayhem FBI agent Dez (aka Destiny) and undercover hero Mick will have to endure and dodge in order to protect their target and nap their elusive mafioso bad guy. Having worked undercover together for years, the attraction they have somehow managed to keep reigned in is finally revealed and unleashed, along with their scorching hot chemistry and true emotional connection.
There really isn’t any need to say a whole lot more, folks. I thoroughly enjoyed this new addition to the Untouchables series. The great back and forth banter, well scripted action drama/steamy scenes, hot, handsome alpha protective hero, and especially the strong, confident, “can handle any crisis” heroine all fit perfectly together. The great supporting cast of sub-characters, especially cameo appearances of characters from previous books, all contributed to the flow and credibility of the story line.
Ms. Skaggs grabbed my attention and didn’t let go, folks. Here’s to hoping you’ll feel the same and will enjoy this series as much as I have.

This is a fantastic romantic suspense. It's the third in a series and while it can be read standalone I think you will enjoy it more if you've read the prior book first. Trying to protect a young boy, Destiny Harper finds herself in a world of trouble and danger. Mick Donovan seems to be the only one she can turn to for help. She knows his first priority is avenging his brother's death but she's hoping that keeping her and her young charge safe will be just as important to him.
A very well done story with tons of twists and turns to the story making it difficult to put down. I would definitely recommend this one!
I didn't think this series could get any better, but Cindy knocked this one out of the park. Everything about this book is intense, from the suspense right through to the sex. Both are exceptionally well executed.
Saving the repetition of the blurb, we know in this story it's Destiny and Mick Donovan. I didn't like Dez too much in the last book, this book she comes through loud and clear and I really liked her character, her dedicated to caring for young Nate and busting Mick's chops whenever she could. Mick is Destiny's partners best friend. He's not a cop which helps him walk the line and he's a total badass.
When a set up goes bad, Destiny is alone and rescues Nathan. Mick is the closest available so he grabs them and they make a beeline out of town because there's a mole in their task force to take down Sullivan. Mick has his own agenda with him, losing his young brother to a low level drug dealer. They head back to Destiny's home town, the last place she wants to be. She left there when she was 16 and never went back. Her Aunt Peg is still there and they hole up at her house. The town is small, people talk. Along with the suspense and intense storyline we get to see Destiny's past unfold and how and why she is the way she is now. The careless words thrown back and forth between Destiny and Mick, and the steam between the two as well. Destiny is one stubborn woman. I admired the hell out of her in this one, she took no crap from Donavan and things from her past come to light.
These two characters were so well written they carried the storyline totally. This really was their story. Both had agenda's and pasts and the question here is will they come to pass or will they continue to carry their demons with them. Can the two of them make their peace together or will Dez run Mick off. Or will Mick just run? Who lives, who dies? Who's the mole? I squeezed the life out of my kindle reading parts of this. This truly was my favorite in this series and I hope it isn't over.
Fantastic read Cindy!! I loved it!!
**arc from NetGalley and publisher in exchange for a fair review**
This is the third book in the series, you can read it as a standalone, however you will know the characters better if you read them all. Mick and Dez, have to go on the run to protect Nate from his real father who is a horrible man. Nate did not know about him, and he is sad because they had just killed him adopted parents. Mick and Dez, finally act on there attraction, but both of them, do not want more. Dez, is being used as the scapegoat, since the mole is tying up all the lose ends. The truth comes out, and after much mayhem, it is finally over, and both Mick and Dez admit that they love each other and want to pursue more.
Although I have enjoyed the other books of this series, I believe this one is the best. With such a wild and thrilling start to this story, I found myself flipping the pages quickly, determined to find out what would happen to the hero and heroine, as they did their best to protect a young boy from a very dangerous man. However, it was the growing relationship between the hero and heroine and their back stories that really had me intrigued, because Mick and Destiny know that any distraction could get one of them killed.
The dialogue was riveting and intense due to the main characters back stories and all that this couple go through in trying to get the information they need to put a really bad guy away, so he can't hurt anyone else. Who betrayed them, forcing Destiny to face her past; a past she'd rather continue to forget? Why is Mick determined to use any means necessary to see justice served, even if it means working outside the law? Moreover, the dialogue wasn't all intense and I liked every moment between the hero and heroine. There's some seriously strong chemistry between them, which is impossible for them to resist no matter how hard they try. Until eventually, their chemistry spills over onto the pages in nicely-detailed sex scenes.
Both the main characters, as well as the secondary characters kept me entertained from start to finish, especially the heroine due to her back story. Destiny's past is something she never thought she'd have to face, but the only way to protect the boy in their custody is to face it, no matter how hard it is for her. Reuniting with her aunt isn't easy, but I liked how they got along. Her aunt is an absolute hoot the way she teases Destiny. Furthermore, Destiny is strong and brave the way she faces everything thrown at her such as an ex-boyfriend who is a total jerk that deserves everything Destiny does to him and the major twist that the bad guys know will keep her from disrupting their plans. Will Destiny be able to convince those she needs to that she didn't do what they're accusing her of? Also, I liked how determined she is to protect the boy and make certain nothing else bad happens to him. He's already lost too much and doesn't need to lose anyone else, especially those that are protecting him.
While Mick, he's a total bad boy, determined to see justice served by any means necessary and I liked that Destiny wasn't about to let him do what he suggests. Since the boy under their protection does not need to be placed in any more danger than he's already in. Although, in saying that, I could understand why he suggests such a plan, because his brother and all the bad guys other victims deserve justice. I also liked how protective Mick was of the heroine, even though he knows she can handle herself, which is proven by what she does to her ex.
Overall, Ms. Skaggs delivers a fantastic read in this book, which was filled with the perfect combination of romance and suspense and made this story a total page turner. The way this story ended had me on the edge-of-my-seat due to the danger the main characters face. Would they both survive and be able to keep the boy safe? However, it was the epilogue that wrapped everything up perfectly, as I learnt how far the main and secondary characters have come since what happened to them. As if Destiny would ever be able to resist Mick. I would recommend Unstoppable by Cindy Skaggs, if you enjoy romantic suspense, the sexy protector trope or books by authors Kaylea Cross, Katie Ruggle, Incy Black or Dana Marton.
The finale book in an undeniably great series. It has been an adrenaline rush keeping up with the taskforce crew but all good things have to come to an end sadly.
The 3rd book takes up at almost the end of the 2nd book, so you really do have to read the series in order just to keep things straight in your head.
Dez be mind numbing babysitting duty of a young child and his parents. What she walks in on is a bloodbath of an ambush. Thankfully her young charge was not present and she is able to secure him before the bad guys get a bead on him. She goes off grid but not before the delectable Mick appears to be her back up!
But when Sully's crew keep catching up to them, they realise there has to be a leak on the taskforce. Dez only really trusts Mick and her partner so when they go off grid she takes them to the place she fled 10 yrs before. Nothing like small town scandal to mask their very real need to be able to see the bad guys coming.
But even in the midst of all this, Mick can't deny the pull he feels towards the lovely, but perfectly deadly Dez! He knows she has her secrets, so does he, but even uncomfortable with their cover as he is, he can't disregard just how...happy he feels knowing she is safe.
There are moles, deadly drug runners, aunties with sheriffs in tow and a certain devastated little boy, who is valiantly trying to soldier on after the loss of his parents and uncertainty of his future. Dr Diane was a brilliant sideline character and if she ever appears in her own book I'd be stoked!
Fast paced, engaging, laugh inducing, toe-curling passion and a HEA to satisfy my little romantic soul! Brilliant read!
LOVED this book! It's non-stop action from the very first page when Dez finds herself in the middle of a setup. As people are dying around her, her only thought it to survive and find the boy at the center of everything.
Dez finds the boy and Mick and soon they're fleeing for their lives. Unfortunately, what seems like the safest place is also a step back in time for Dez. She left home as a teenager and never looked back for a reason and those reasons are about to inflict themselves on her current circumstances.
As they're protecting the boy, both Dez and Mick are dealing with the sparks flying between them and wondering if they should act on them. Their relationship most definitely heats up and adds spice to their circumstances.
Fans of the genre will love this book. It's fast paced, entertaining, and had me turning pages just as quickly as possible. While it's part of a series, this is a stand alone novel. The author is on my must read authors' list.
Ahh, I love a happy ending. And this one was well deserved.
Unstoppable is a true page turner. It has nonstop suspense. Plus Mick and Dez finally do something about the spark that is between them. Talk about hot!
I thought this might be the ending to the series but the ending leaves us with maybe not. Ugh!!!!
