This was a great fireman romance; it is a dual perspective of Erik and Olive. The writing was good, it was a great story just to jump into and get lost in.
I liked Erik and Olive's story of how they met and the circumstance of their relationship. It was pretty complicated, and I think that the author did an excellent job of working out how these two could be together without crossing some serious ethical lines. This book jumps right into the hot and steam and these scenes were written excellently, the tension and build up throughout the story was swoon worthy.
I loved Erik and Olive and the development of their relationship and romance. The banter and teasing were so spot on and hilarious, which was great to have especially since this book also touches on some serious subjects like PTSD, that it had a nice balance. Erik's relentless pursuit of Olive was amazing, he did not fight the feelings whatsoever. Their communication was perfect, and there was no miscommunication, or third act break up, which I liked. This story was interesting, fun, hot as hell and compelling. There was some back and forth teasing between the firemen that I could have done without, just because of the context, but it really did not take away from my enjoyment of reading this book. I highly recommend checking this series out.
Trigger warnings; PTSD
I received this advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.
Olivia Jones wants a man to consume her and show her passion that fulfills her deepest desires. When the hot guy from the liquor store offers to satisfy that itch she has one request, fake names and just one night.
What will happen when Oliva discovers that her new client is the hot hookup? Erik Grady needs to work through his PTSD or he can forget about getting back to work. Will his plan to find a new therapist work in his favor? Who has the upperhand when he makes a deal with Olivia?
Three dates and Wolf will show her they are meant to be together, will they survive his daemons or will they force him to push away. This scorchin romance has wit, banter, characters that you will fall in love with and hopefully we might see more from the Boston firefighters. I could not put it down.
I can't get enough of Gina Maxwell and look forward to each new release.
The romance felt too instalove although I did like the inclusion of the heroes PTSD. Spicy scenes could have been better. What really bugged me though was the stereotypical descriptions of the Latina best friend. Every time she was on page she was described as spicy, exotic, proud like a Latina, compared to Penelope Cruz, etc etc. It just felt lazy and offensive. I rather have no representation than this.
I'm a sucker for sweet and sexy ex military turn firefighter who can talk dirty! This one was a rollercoaster of emotions for me but worth the ride. I loved all the secondary characters and hope to read their stories one day!
Gina is an absolutely amazing! I really love reading her steamy stories!! This book was so fun, steamy, and had lots of feels too! The meet cute between Olivia and Wolf aka Erik was so entertaining! I don’t think I’ll ever forget it! Olivia is a plus sized therapist who helps those with PTSD. So when she has a hot one night with a fireman named Wolf she doesn’t expect to see him show up at her office as a patient! Erik, known as Wolf, is a fireman who is struggling with feels. He has the hottest night with a mystery woman he can’t get out of his head! So to his delight she ends up being the therapist he’s supposed to see. That quickly changes & Erik knows he wants Olivia. She agrees to hon on dates with him. Theses two both have struggles but learn to grow! I really enjoyed their story and everything they had to overcome to get an HEA! I’ll be here for all of Gina’s stories!
Funny...sexy...a hot one-night-stand shouldn't lead to more...or could it. Both characters have a lot to resolve, but they can't seem to stay away from each other. This moved at such a pace that I finished it in a day and hope to get more of the secondary characters on other books
I enjoyed this book a lot. I am a sucker for fireman stories being married to one. Is it accurate? Probably not, but it is hot.
A very satisfying read! I can't wait to read the rest of the books from this series. Olivia and Erik couldn't deny what was between them and it made for an intense burn. The gal talk with Olivia and her friends was funny and entertaining, but let's not forget about Erik with his fellow teammates. I felt everybody had a place in this book and it was thoroughly enjoyable to read!

Livvie is on a terrible date streak, when she meets Wolf at the liquor store and he buys her bottle when she realizes she might have left her purse at the bar. Just as he's pulling away she realizes her purse and car keys are in her car, he stops again and gets her car open, one thing leads to another and they agree to one anonymous night together.
On Monday they find out she's the therapist he's been assigned to for PTSD symptoms. He winds up with another therapist and she agrees to go on 3 dates with him.
This was heavy on the PTSD symptoms so TW for whoever needs it, but it also focused a lot on the therapy almost more so that the relationship. There was more sex than feelings in this story, not necessarily a bad thing just an FYI for people. Over all it was a pretty good read.
Erik "Wolf" Grady's life has been in limbo. Ever since he was honorable discharged from the army after the mission gone wrong, his PTSD is getting worse. Now his job as a fireman is on hold until he work out his problems with a shrink. At least going out with his fireman buddies helps. On his way home from the bar he stops at a liquor store and overhears a gorgeous blonde beauty on the phone talking about her crappy dates. Wolf decides to see if the gorgeous blonde would be up for a night of fun. Olivia Jones doesn't do one-night stands but this gorgeous mountain of a man makes a compelling point and before you know it there are at a hotel. After the best night of her life, Olivia sneaks out and heads back to her boring life.
Imagine Wolf's surprise when he finds out his one night stand is none other than his new shrink! Wolf wants to pursue dating Livvie so she hands his case over to co-worker. Things are going well until Wolf has an episode in front of Livvie and this startles him. Wolf has to get his life in order before he can be with someone so wonderful as Livvie. It will take a lot of work but Wolf knows what will hopefully be waiting for him at the end.....Livvie!
I really enjoyed this sexy military, PTSD story. You couldn't help but root for Wolf to work past his problems. Livvie was the perfect person to understand his issues and help him. Also their chemistry together was off the charts hot!!!! This was a hot, fun, and fast read that I would recommend.
Erik "Wolf" Grady is having a bad time on the job and when he happens to meet a gorgeous woman who's open to a one night stand -- he's not turning that down. These two hook up with a flash of heat that kicks off this sex-fest between the main characters.
Dr. Olivia Jones is still getting over a broken heart and when Wolf makes her an offer, she decides to go for it. Things get complicated when it turns out he's on her list of patients to see regarding his PTSD.
I liked the premise of this story and I was in the mood for something hot and frisky. Hot for the Fireman certainly fits that description.
I will say that there were some surprising and insightful moments here. At first it just seemed like a sex-fest that segued into insta-love, but somewhere around the middle of the book, especially when Erik interacted with his friends and the story of his PTSD came out, I found it interesting how the men straddled their former military career and their current fireman gig as almost being the same. Having all your former teammates from the service in the current day situation seemed a bit improbable, but that didn't bother me because of the way the circumstances helped to illustrate just what they were going through mentally as former service members.
There were a few slow spots here and there, but this did satisfy my craving for something spicy and steamy and hot, hot, hot! There is a lot of detailed sex in this story as I expected. And I loved the male friendships and points of view. So overall, a satisfying read.
Erik's job depends on getting therapy for his PTSD. He doesn't think he needs therapy or that he really has a problem, but if he wants to keep that new job, he's got to do it. So when he walks into his therapist's office and it's the beautiful woman he had the hottest night of his life with, he's determined to not let her get away like she did when he woke up the next morning and she was gone. To that end, a little uh, *blackmail*, has her going on three dates with him in exchange for him agreeing to transfer to another therapist. He knows that before those three dates are up, Olivia will be his. Easy. Right?
Well, no. Because reasons. Like that he really does have PTSD and it's got its grip on him and he doesn't want it to affect the woman he's fallen so hard for. She's better off without him and he has to make sure she realizes that. Only he underestimates not only Olivia's strength, but her feelings, too. She didn't become a therapist by being one to back down when it matters. A battle of wills with their love as the ultimate prize.
I really liked this story, this couple. It's fraught with intense emotions, both because of Erik's trauma and subsequent behavior, and because their feelings developed quickly and strongly. There's a ton of chemistry, two amazing characters, and a great secondary cast. What's not to love about this story?
I enjoyed this book. I thought the story was fun but had a solid amount of heart. I like Olivia and Erik and thought that their chemistry was evident, and spark filled. The writing was good, and I found the combination of intense emotion, heat, angst, drama and humor rich and satisfying. This was a solid start for this series, and I will be reading more of it.
Oh, I absolutely loved this story!!
Ex-Army Ranger Erik Grady lives for his job as a Boston firefighter. So when he’s forced to choose between mandated therapy or a permanent desk job, Erik reluctantly agrees to see a shrink. Psychologist Olivia Jones can’t believe her eyes —or the spike in her heart rate— when Erik, her unforgettably wicked one-night stand, walks into her office. But Erik needs Olivia’s help—which means she can handle whatever heat he throws her way…and see just how much heat the fireman can take too.
I adore the dynamics between these two. They are hot, sassy and entertaining. I couldn’t stop reading. The chemistry between them is of the chart. There are A LOT of amazing sexy times, but they are also emotional and deep. He has PTSD and there are a few raw scenes about this topic. I enjoyed the side characters a lot and the witting was absolutely engaging.
I highly recommend this story, it’s a beautiful one.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Hot is definitely the right title for this novel. Olivia and Erik send sparks all over the page! I loved how Erik listened to Olivia and showed how much he cared. She comes to care for him in a lovely way, too. My only complaint is that the Angie/Dozer subplot took too many pages away from the main story. Otherwise, this was a fun and hot read.
I read the premise and was excited to read this only to discover I read the years ago. I'm happy to say it was a good then as it was now.
The author does a great job drawing you into Erik and Olivia's world. I loved their meet cute. It was perfect for them. The pair had an immediate connection and I was excited to see were there relationship was headed.
Based on their professional connection with each other, I thought they would be over before it began but Erik was a bit sneaky.
The book really had it all. Erik and Livvie had an easy rapport and the sexual tension was off the charts. The author also wove humor and the heartache.
It also has a great group if secondary characters that deserve their own book.
Erik Grady was an Army Ranger, he now is a fireman for the Boston Fire Department and he takes his job seriously. He has been suffering with PSTD from his time in the Army and his chief gives him an ultimatum, either he attends therapy sessions or he is assigned a desk job. Erik agrees to see the psychologist but only because he thinks he can play the system.
Olivia Jones is already familiar with Erik Grady. So, when he walks into her office and threatens to blackmail him she agrees to go on three dates with him. Little does Erik know she is still going to play hard to get. She has worked hard to earn the professional reputation she has and is not going to let a hot fireman ruin her career.
Hot for the Fireman is a steamy read with two very likeable characters. The meet up at the beginning of the story is incredibly interesting and the chemistry between the couple throughout the book is insanely hot. Livvie is a strong female character who has worked hard to get where she is in her industry. It is hard not to fall in love with Erik while feeling empathic for his difficult situation. Overall it was a fun read.
Hot for the Fireman is one hot read. I loved every moment of this one. This is the first book of the Boston Heat series, and I am already hooked. Eric has his demons he is fighting. He knows he needs to get better in order to be there for his men. He is so swoon worthy that you are just going to fall for his ways. I love the meet cute moment between Olivia and Eric. You understand Olivia's choices as you get to know her. Olivia is sweet and caring. She has this gentle way about her especially when it comes to Eric. The chemistry burns up the pages when it comes to Olivia and Eric. You will be fanning yourself when it comes to them. I could not get enough of this red hot read. I was sucked in from the very start when it comes to these ex-military firefighter crew. I cannot wait for more to come. I really loved Olivia and Eric together. Go one click this one today.

Erik and Olivia had great chemistry, and I absolutely loved how she wasn't afraid to challenge him. She stood her ground from the very beginning. Erik is hurting and suffering from PTSD, and Olivia's expertise allows her to really see him for the person he is rather than his condition. Their one night turns into a relationship that they're both willing to fight for.
Fun, sexy enjoyable read with likeable characters! I had not read the other books in the series but it worked well as a stand alone and now I have added to my TBR. :) Thank you to the author, Gina Maxwell, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review “Hot for the Fireman”.
