Despite the cover and the character's name I was expecting a more Japanese/Oriental vibe from this novel which I didn't get so I was disappointed with that, however, it did have a good story and likable characters so this did redeem it a little.

A review of two parts. There is a very good book hidden in here, and half of me enjoyed it some aspects of it very much. The other half was completely bemused at the proper confusion of the plot. At no point did I have any idea what the hell was going on. Nothing followed in any logical sense, and there appeared not to be a plot thread. I'm happy to have to work to some extent as I read, but I do need something to hang onto. The sex was refreshingly different, if a little sparsely used and lost in the overall muddle. This is a a first for me, in longer than I can remember, if at all, but I have no rating for this book, because I have no clue what I read. I even read the first 50% twice to try to get a handle on things, then I thought bugger it the ending will put it all together. Unfortunately, it left me feeling even more lost.

This story made me realize I prefer simple English, and I'm not just talking the many references to Japanese culture. I also feel rather unintelligent right now so it wouldn't be fair for me to rate this book.

The author has a great grasp on the written word, unfortunately most of it was lost on me.
