I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoy second chance romances typically and I really liked the way Bri and Niall communicated. There was some hesitation that made sense but for the most part they were able to talk and listen to each other. I really liked Bri. She's been through some really tough times and has come through it all with resilience. I was not as fond of Niall. His reasons for getting involved in the duel and for leaving England are honorable and even his loss of faith in Brilliana makes sense. That said his attitude was a bit too imperious at times and I just never fully connected with him. As well, I didn't love how fast the physical aspect of their relationship developed and how much it seemed to control Bri especially. Overall, while I didn't love this one I did enjoy it and will read more from this author in the future though she won't be an auto-buy for me.

I love Regency books, and Sabrina Jeffries is a master of the genre. This is the fourth book of the Sinful Suitors series, and I enjoyed it very much. Her plots and pacing are always masterful, and her characters, of course, are so enjoyable. I read this on a nice, rainy day in bed, and it was the perfect compliment to the day. It was everything that I enjoy in a romance.

This was a decent story and I somewhat enjoyed both the hero and the heroine, Niall and Brilliana. However, nothing really stood out making it a great book.

Seven years ago, sweethearts Niall and Bree were separated by a duel and lies. Niall managed to flee to the continent to work for the Home Office as a spy. When he returns to England, it's not long before Lord Fulkham "blackmails" Niall and Bree into helping find a counterfeit ring for the Home Office. It's a second chance for Niall to convince Bree a fake engagement could be a real one. Both have their reasons for secrets, but what a lot of frustration until their secrets come out.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a free copy of this book. Heat.level - steamy.

This is the story of Mrs. Brilliana Trevor, widow, with her young son, Silas, and Niall, the Earl of Margrave. Niall has recently returned to England, after being in exile on the Continent, after killing a man in a duel seven years ago. He has now been pardoned for that crime and is looking forward to starting his life again and handling his estates.

Niall and Brilliana (or Bree as he calls her) had quite a history together before he had to flee England and she thereafter married Reynold Trevor. Misconceptions were formed and now they pretty much hate each other since they believe the other one betrayed them. They would be perfectly happy to avoid each other, except... apparently Niall's cousin has married Bree's sister-in-law (Reynold's sister). And now they find themselves in the same circles, invited to the same dinners, and attendees at the same house parties. Which would have still been okay except... Baron Faulkham who got Niall pardoned in the first place has a very specific favor he wants Niall to perform, and that includes posing as Bree's fiancé.

Seeing Niall and Bree work through their prior misconceptions and buried hurt was very nicely done and you really begin to hope for this couple. The only thing that stopped me from giving this story a raving review is how sorry I still feel for Reynold, Bree's late husband. I know what happened to him was no one's fault but his own but it still makes me sad to think how much in despair he must have felt.

I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review.

This is book four in the Sinful Suitors series and is the long-awaited story of Niall and Bree. A story of star-crossed lovers that were separated due to their circumstances and now meet again years later. When they both have to work with each other to expose a counterfeiting ring, Niall and Bree are thrown in each other's paths and they realize that the feelings that they had for each other have never gone away. Niall and Bree's characters are intriguing and well written. You can feel their pain and loss through the pages of the book. The sexual chemistry between them is really hot. I will recommend this book and highly recommend reading this as part of the series for best character development.

* I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review*

Sometimes true love needs to wait years to be fulfilled. So it is with Niall and Brilliana's love. When he is forced to flee the country after a duel, he asks her to go with him, but she is unable to leave her ill mother. Many years and misunderstandings later, they are united. However, can they forgive the past and past hurts? Will their love find a way? Add a spy mystery and you have a real page turner. This book is a nice addition to the Sinful Sinners Series. It is a good example of why Sabrina Jeffries is one of my must read authors.

A brilliantly told story of mistrust, revenge, lust, and love! Sabrina Jeffries writes another passionate story that I absolutely adore and will recommend to all historical romance fans!

Where do I start...with my frustration at the times and society in those times and the power men when it came to the lives of the women? Or rather with my frustration that those two, our hero and our heroine could have spared themselves a lot of heartache and worries if they had ever talked about their past. I mean, really talked. Right?
Well, I might start with the gripping story and those very likable characters whose chemistry was just right - which added to my frustration when everything seemed to be too complicated and the troubles of the past felt like unsurmountable obstacles that wouldn't let them act on their feelings.

I loved to see how our hero and our heroine slowly start to open up and to trust eachother again, righting some wrongs from the past and finding happiness along the way.
Oh, and you just have to love Brilliana's aunt by marriage and her protectiveness towards Brilliana. She is a rather formidable character and I think that Niall is lucky to have her on his side. I really liked the other minor characters as well, flaws and eccentricity and all.

When circumstances force our heroine Brilliana, a young widow and her former love, Niall, the Earl of Mangrave, to work together, both of them don't exactly jump at the opportunity to renew their acquaintance. Past betrayals have left them wary, hurt and even furious but maybe this could turn into a chance for both of them to heal...

This is by far not the first book by the author that I've read and enjoyed and I'm looking forward to reading many more by her.

I absolutely loved Niall and Bree's story!! Second chance romances are one of my favorite.

Because of meddling relatives, Niall and Bree are separated after Niall had to flee the country. When they are reunited, they are thrown together to work a case for the government. Of course, they both have feeling for the other, but have been given information that makes them distrust the other. Can these two find their way back to each other?

I've been waiting for this story and I was not disappointed!! This was a great addition to the Sinful Suitors series and I'm excited to see what Jeffries comes up with next!

Sabrina Jeffries is one of my favorite romance authors so this story was a bit of disappointment, The story line followed the traditional mellow dramatic themes of separated "lovers", misunderstandings etc. etc. While the characters had a decent "on page" chemistry it wasn't really enough to give it more stars.

I have to admit I’m really ashamed of the time it took me to read this book. I received the ARC this summer via Netgalley (which I’m so thankful for once again) and like I explained in a previous post, a lot was going on in my life after this so it put me off reading for a while. What makes it even worse is that I requested this book because I was really eager to discover it. I love historical romance as you know if you’ve been reading me for a while and I heard so many good things about this author. But anyways, I finally got to read it and I absolutely loved it.

♥ The story ♥

The Pleasures of Passion by Sabrina Jeffries tells the story of Brilliana, a recently young widow and single mother. She lives a quiet life until she’s asked to partake in a mission to uncover the truth about her father and his affairs. But what Brilliana hasn’t expected was that Niall, her former lover before he had to flee the country after he fought a duel, was the one she has to work with on this mission.

♥ My review ♥

I love second chance romances and historical romance so I was almost certain this book was for me. Add to it the great writing of Sabrina Jeffries and I’m sold. This is actually my first book by this author and I’m really glad I got to read it.

The story is well plotted and has everything I like to read in this genre. The passion (of course!) between the two characters, a little suspens and spice brought by the investigation and a palpable chemistry. Oh, the chemistry! Those two are amazing together and you could feel how strong their connection is. There is also a lot of confrontations which are scenes I find great interest in reading. There’s a lot of resentment too on both sides. Because of misunderstandings they didn’t get to marry the first time and it is really nice to see how things develop and how they uncover the truth about them.

I liked the start of the story where we get to know more about Niall and Brilliana while they were young. I love reading about young and innocent love and the fact we get to see how it evolves is so satisfying. I felt there is seriously nothing missing in this book.

The Pleasures of Passion is a great and captivating historical romance that deals with second chances and I highly recommend if you’re a lover of the genre.

A great addition to the series and one of the best "reunited/second chance" romances I've read.

Delightful is what I thought while I was reading this book. I really liked Brilliana's character because it showed a progression of her character from when she was young and somewhat naive to her as a widow, mother and a survivor of multiple betrayals. Her ability to roll with the punches in her life and create a life she loved was impactful.

Niall is portrayed as a man of honor who gives up everything for his family and the enduring part of him is his faithfulness to his sister. The author's portrayal of his push and pull feeling towards the adult Brilliana is done in a manner that the reader will believe as a truth. Though I loved his character I would have liked him to be a little more cynical because of Brilliana's rejection. But his quick comprehension that maybe things weren't as they seemed redeemed him in my eyes.

Brilliana's family contributes to a large part of this story and how the author winds the story around them will delight the reader. Her father and uncle are presented in a manner that causes the reader to instantly wonder who is bad and who is good.

I give this book 4 stars for it fast-pace and entertainment value.

Who doesn't love a good second chance love story?
Sabrina Jeffries has always been one of my go to faves. She simply doesn't disappoint.
This is Niall and Brillana's story. He's been away and returns home. She married while he was gone, but is now widowed........ I'll give no details.
This is worth your time. If you're trying to decide what to read... this is the one!

I went back and forth on this book overall, but did enjoy it. I think in some ways, I might have preferred this as a novella (and frankly, I'm not a novella fan!) but at times it seemed like the angst and drama could and should have ended a bit sooner between the two. That being said, there was a lot of history between our hero and heroine, a lot of outside interference, and yet overall, in the end there's finally some communication and understanding that leads to the happy ending.

This was a lovely story of love that was lost and rekindled. I thought Niall was to be admired for waiting on Bree to come around. Bree was just being a brat when she never lost feelings for Niall over the years and through her marriage and birth of her son. I just adored this story.

I really enjoyed reading this book so much that before I knew it I was done. I really cannot wait for the next book to come out. Of course there were old characters that we love and care about, but we also get to know new ones. I kind of figured out who the "bad" guy was pretty much when he got introduced, but it was fun to see how everything unfolded. The only thing that got a little tiresome was the "you lied, not you lied" "you don't trust me" thing. I love Aunt Agatha, she is a hoot. I would love to see more of her.
