Review: Finding You by Jo Watson is a hilarious romantic comedy. Every woman will enjoy following the main character as her life gets crazier by the minute. This was definitely one interesting read. I didn’t know what to expect. Especially, with Jane’s unexpected moments like having a meltdown and then booking a flight to Greece. Plus, her adoptive mother’s way of raising her is priceless. I couldn’t stop laughing. Readers like myself can easily relate to Jane’s feelings about not fitting in and having a family that makes one feel like an alien at times. Finding You is exactly as the title suggests.
Jo Watson has created a protagonist that I won’t be forgetting any time soon. Jane has it hard growing up within a family that has perfect looks. Whereas she has different skin tone, taller than her siblings, and is referred to as the plain Jane. Her life seems crazy and a bit boring. Like something was missing. Then, out of nowhere she decides to go to Greece. To find her birth father. But the question is will she find him or not?
Then there’s her biological parents. Both loved each other but do to circumstances…they lost one another. A lost love, a mother who gave up her daughter, and a daughter who may or may not find her own love. The emotional journey of a father who died and a mother that should have been there for her daughter was incredible. I cried. I felt hurt. The anger hit me just as hard as it did for Jane. Absolutely, a brilliant story. The plot was well-told. Finding You is a romance journey that readers don’t want to miss. It’s one that I highly recommend to readers worldwide.
Finding You by Jo Watson is the third book in the Destination Love series. I have not read any of the previous novels in this series, but Finding You was so much fun that now I want to. Each of the novels in the Destination Love series can be read as total standalones. I don’t even think there is any character overlap, which is nice because they are true standalones that way. Finding You is the story of Jane, who goes to Greece in search of her birth father.
Jane basically has a name and an occupation, and nothing else to go on. She even picks the part of Greece randomly and sets off. Which is crazy, in my opinion and totally unlike the character of the Jane I got to know. (Which she readily admits is true.) Jane was a hoot and a half. I loved her and all of her quirks! She is a successful dentist and she knows trivia about all sorts of topics, and she can’t seem to help but spout her fun facts wherever she goes. I am with Dimitri, I think she is adorable.
And let’s talk about Dimitri for a minute. I mean is he not the epitome of a vacation fantasy. I mean part of what makes Finding You so fun is that it is like finding a prince charming. Jane goes off to Greece and finds a tall dark and handsome Greek model/tour guide/all around great guy. How good can it get? Jane has all the luck in this story. But she makes the story charming and hilarious because she is a little bit of a hot mess. The comedy aspect of Finding You is what made me love this story so much. The Greek setting was perfect for the romance in Finding You but the characters are what won me over. Dimitri is such a great guy. I loved how attentive and awesome he was with Jane, and Jane is my girl. I just loved her.
Bottom line: If you are looking to be swept away in a beautiful Greek romance with tons of humorous encounters and scenes along the way, you need to check out Finding You by Jo Watson. I really enjoyed this novel.
As Jane Smith's 25th birthday approaches, she suddenly has a compelling need to find her biological father. Though she's never questioned the love of her adopted parents, she's always been acutely aware of how different she looks from them and her adorable twin sisters. She knows her father's first name and is Greek (thanks to her bio mother), responsible for her height, eyes of separate colors and dark coloring. So, off she goes on a sudden trip to Greece to find him, picking the island of Santorini simply because it "called" to her.
After reading Almost a Bride, I vowed to listen to the rest of the series because I figured it would be outstanding on audio. My instincts were dead on as the humor was expertly translated. Jane is the most stoic of the group of friends so her decision to suddenly step outside her comfort zone was completely out of character. As imagined, her journey was loaded with missteps, misunderstandings and hilarious moments.
But Jane's most extraordinary encounter comes when she meets the gorgeous man she discovered in the island's travel magazine. His name is Dimitri (coincidentally the same as the father she's trying to find) and he's the man who will be her guide for her stay. I loved Dimitri and how he got Jane to find herself in the process. He was the perfect foil to the self deprecating Jane.
This was a cute story with lots of fun moments, even when Jane's pessimistic attitude could be wearying. Just when I thought it was getting to be too much, the story took an incredible turn and became one of substance and insight. That turn brought balance to Jane's search and in finding him, she found herself. You will absolutely love the ending and the wonderful trek through a Greek island that is so descriptively presented. This series nails the comedy and great travel.
Jo Watson's books always end up surprising and delighting me. Finding You was a delicious, heartfelt story of finding yourself that really tugged at my heartstrings.
"Plain" Jane Smith always felt like she was a round peg in a square hole. Adopted by a family of blonde-haired, blue-eyed, gorgeous people, her dark hair, different colored eyes, and sturdy build made her feel like she didn't fit in. Unfortunately, her feelings became a self-fulfilling prophecy. She didn't fit in with her family.
At sixteen, she reached out to her birth mother who rejected her again, giving her the briefest bit of information but refusing to meet with her. All she really found out was that her father was Greek and his name was Dimitri. Since she'd always hated her swarthy looks and size, it gave her a new word and an entire culture to use to denigrate herself even more.
The looming advent of her twenty fifth birthday changed everything. Our as she called it, bright on her nervous breakdown! She woke up one day feeling very unsettled. She didn't realize what was happening until she passed a travel agency advertising trips to Greece and felt an almost insane desire to find her father. Would this tour guide named Dimitri help her finally find peace with herself? She just wanted to belong.
The exotic locale was juxtaposed next to Jane's internal search to belong. Can she accept the love she finds from her very own Dimitri, or will her fear of following in her birth mother's footsteps cause her to lose her chance at a forever love?
Great read, I can't wait for the next in the series!
I really loved this! It took a little for me to warm up to Jane, mostly because she seemed so very serious and formal. But she definitely grew on me, especially once she met Dimitri.
And oh, Dimitri. He was sexy and funny and sweet. I really enjoyed his character and what he was able to do for Jane.
They had some wonderful chemistry and I really liked the way their relationship built. It had a bit of fantasy and yet was very genuine and sincere.
The setting of Greece was fantastic and so well-described that I could smell the ocean and feel the sea. I also really need to grab some Greek food!
Jane's journey and arc was such a pleasure and surprised me with just how invested I found myself. There were several emotional moments in the last 20% that had me tearing up with a smile.
**My thanks to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
Just like the previous book in the series it is a witty rom com that will have you laughing out loud and so hoping that the main characters will be getting an epic happy ending.
Jane has always felt out of place at home always having know that she was adopted. After knowing that her mother wants nothing do do with her and that she is half Greek, Jane does nothing until feeling a little strange one day when she is in her twenties.
Upping her home and going to Santorini she meets Dimitri almost immediately and a connection is almost there from the beginning. Jane finds herself doing new things, trying new thing all because of Dimitri, who at the beginning has her all tongue tied.
Dimitri is a lovely man, but keeps one tiny secret from her that when revealed rocks Jane's trust and she flees back home.
I seriously could not stop from turing page after page of this book and was completely sad that there was no epilogue with the book and finding out what happened to them a year or so down the line.
I know that this is a three book series, but would so much like to read the stories of Val and Stormy-Rain and have their happy ever afters.
My apologies, but I had a difficult time getting into this book and could not finish it.
Honestly this book was just ok for me. I had a hard time connecting with the characters. I just never felt what was driving Jane. I went through the book hoping she would get the answers she seeks but not sure that she would.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book provided by NetGalley
Very nice feel good book. Enjoyed the setting very much. The characters too and the storyline was great just what you need pre summer
Jane's low opinion of herself and everyone else made this book a little bit of a downer. Dimitri was basically perfect, and I'm not sure what he saw in her.
After reading the last Jo Watson book I was thrilled to pick up the next one so when I got a copy of Finding You I was so excited to dig into this story and I loved it!
In this book we follow Jane , Jane has always felt like she was out of place and I did not belong and one of the main reason is because she was adopted . After tracking down her mother she decides to Track down her father ( his name is Dimitri ) too and this leads her to Greece where she then meets Dimitri the tour guide( Just so there is no confusion in this book there are two Dimitri's on is Jane's Father and one is Jane's Love Interest) and this is really where things take off in this story . I have always wanted to travel to Greece so see Greece through janes eyes was just so much fun . I loved the romance between Jane and Dimitri it was fun , sexy and so very swoonworthy . Jo Watson writes such unique romances that's always Leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy. On the inside .We get to not only see Jane Fall inlove but get more comfortable in her own skin . The search for her father gave her so much more than what she originally thought she would get . There was never a dull moment in the story and I was constantly turning to the next page needing to know what would happen next .This book is officially on my favorite books of 2016 list.
Finding You was a sexy , funny , quirky , swoon worthy , heartwarming romance . That reminds you again and again that you should never give up on the love .if yout love all these things in your stories you should defiantly pick up this book as soon as you can .
Boom!Loved this one!I don't think I should be surprised anymore that I love Jo's writing.Pretty sure all her books are a hit for me, especially this series.
In Finding You, we have Jane Smith(you got that right,Jane Smith lol),who's been adopted and never comfortable in her own skin.Always polite and suppressing herself. But everyone has a breaking point and when she reaches hers, she books an impulse trip to Greece to find her birth father- who used to be a tour guide named Dmitri.
But fate has different plans for her, and when she lands, she finds a super hot tour guide (also named) Dmitri waiting for her.And lets just say the first meeting was quite awkward. But for some reason Dmitri is interested in getting to know her, and genuinely wants to show her the Greece she deserves to see.If only she would open up a little.Just when she's ready to give up on the search for her father,Dmitri convinces her that he'll help her if she goes off with him on an adventure around Greece. Will Jane take a leap of faith in matters of heart as well as life?
This was a really great novel about finding one's identity, beneath all the trademark Jo Watson comedy and romance. In the beginning it was so uncomfortable to read Jane's thoughts, because she wasn't comfortable with herself at all.But as the book progressed her confidence improved and she blossomed into a lovely heroine. The self-doubts, the fears and all her thoughts were so realistic. We never realize how much of our identities and characters are wrapped around the solid facts that we know about ourselves, our parents and history, till we read books like these.
Dmitri was a great love interest and the romance between them was so good!I loved the fact that he brought Jane out of her shell and he has such a good heart! There is always that typical twist in the end , thrown in to make the heroine doubt herself and the love interest. The one in this was atypical, but a good one.I was so sad for Jane in the end.Had me almost crying!
I love the close set of friends these girls have and the dynamics between them.I think the next book will be Val's?Please let her not end up with Matt.He sounds like a douchebag and she need not pine for him!

The gang’s back in this neurotically adorable romance where you fall in love with Dimitri and see just how messed up Jane is.
Jane you adore but will find frustrating at times. Her handbag will crack you up and her meltdowns are well needed. What will frustrate you is her low self worth and esteem. She is smart and funny but she feels like she is an outsider and not pretty. She doesn’t see herself as Dimitri does. He sees her as a sultry, funny, smart and sexy women. He slowly gets her to relax and discover this side of herself. This is Jane’s journey to figuring herself out more than it is finding her dad. She starts the book as a anal woman who doesn’t listen to her heart but always her head. She is analytical in approach to life, love and her world. so going to Greece was out of the norm for her. Her time in greece begins just as methodical as her life is and ends up being messy, emotional and fun. Dimitri is the one who helps her unlock the door and let her live and feel.
Dimitri is the sexy hot man who feels restless. He dreams of travel and knowing that he is restless and looking for the one thing to ground him. In the time he has with Jane he realizes she is that thing. He finds her to be charming, funny and smart as a whip. He is amused by her random blurting of facts, her handbag that is a house of stuff, her anal ways and her in general. She captures him body and soul and all he wants is to help her and have her see beyond his looks and look at his heart.
From the beginning Jane drools over Dimitri and sometimes her mouth speaks before she can think and she lets Dimitri know. He finds this endearing and it is entertaining. He helps her see Greece and find her dad. He does harbor guilt over her dad and in the end you see why. I felt for Dimitri at the end because Jane when she decides on a course of action sticks to it and with Dimitri she was in the wrong. You can’t just cut off love you need to forgive and let love in.
these two have attraction up the wazoo and are so fun to read about. Dimitri is kind, sweet, sexy and a family guy. What he gave up for his family is amazing. He is relaxed and really loves Jane. He has found his grounding and wants her to find hers in him. He wants her to discover herself and see him as well. All his actions are with good intentions even when they are ones that can hurt. He was never malicious in his way only thoughtful and kind. I love his interactions with Jane and how he treats her with respect.
The book is fun, entertaining and a journey of discovery and love. A wonderfully written easy to read story that just has you smile and enjoy the ride of Jane finding herself and love.
This is a cute and romantic story that got me loving this book from the very beginning.
It is book 3 in the Destination Love series but each book can be read as stand alone.
I do recommend this book and each of the other books in this series .
Jane’s adopted and even though she is loved by her adoptive family, she’s always felt different and like she didn’t belong. So she decides to go in search of her birth father. She only knows that he is Greek and that his name is Dimitri. She books a flight for Santorini (just because the name sounds right). But on an island where everyone is called Dimitri, her search won’t be as easy as she thought. And as another Dimitri, young and god-like handsome, catches her attention and takes her on a tour of Greek islands and pushes her to do things she’d never dared before, Jane finally lets herself go.
Jane doesn’t think much of herself and I found her way of demeaning herself annoying. But when she is herself, Jane is a funny and interesting character, getting herself in ridiculous and embarrassing situations and continuously relating random facts like how many bacteria there are in people’s mouth and how much water is used in the shower. With an atmospheric setting, witty dialogues, and romance coming out of every page, this is an entertaining novel about finding yourself and about finding love.

Jane has always known she was adopted by the family that raised her and she has been searching for a missing part of herself all her life. She never fit in with the other kids at school who said some cruel things, and her mother's constant comments and attempts to "fix" her took a toll on her self-esteem. It took another hit when her birth mother refused to meet her after Jane turned 18 and tracked her down, so the walls she built up around her heart to keep everyone out just got even thicker.
Now she is 25 years old, facing a future she isn't sure she wants and feeling an uncharacteristic and overwhelming urge to go to the one place she may find some answers along with her birth father: Santorini. She always plans everything she does down to the very last detail and is a creature of habit, so her friends are skeptical to say the least when she tells them her plans but she takes off on her adventure before she loses her nerve.
And so begins what I will call the trials and tribulations of Jane. She is completely out of her element, and embarrassing situation after embarrassing situation pile up on her particularly when she meets her extremely hot tour guide Dmitri. Their first encounter sets the tone for everything to come and it is both awkward and humorous. She is horrified to find out just how common the name Dmitri is in Greece, and she just can't seem to stop making an idiot of herself in front of the hottest guy she has ever seen who also happens to be a model in addition to his tour guide gig. Everywhere she turns she sees another advertisement featuring him- walking out of the water holding a very suggestive spear, cuddled up to a woman sans clothing to advertise watches, in a suit on a cardboard cutout that she may just accidentally take with her back to her hotel... you name it, he is somehow always in the forefront of her mind.
Despite his godlike good looks, Dmitri is actually very down to earth and wants nothing more than to get to know Jane. He is amused by her attitude and the constant facts that she randomly throws at him in her nervousness, and he is persistent in trying to help her embrace the Greek culture as he gives her a personal guided tour of the island chain around them while helping her search for her father. Little by little he chips away at her preconceived notions and determination to hold herself apart from her surroundings until she finally starts to live a little without questioning every single decision.
I have to admit, it took me a long time to warm up to this book. I enjoy a good romantic comedy, but the level of awkwardness, constant silly situations and reminders of Dmitri's hotness started to wear on me after a while. Jane's group of friends were interesting though, and the last third of the book showed just how far Jane actually came in learning to let go and reevaluating everything she thought she knew about herself. All in all, Finding You was a cute contemporary romance that covered a range of emotions from one end of the spectrum to the other.
This is such a cute read. It will have you smiling, swooning and a bit sad. It's a perfect beach read that you will fall head over heels in love with!!!

This is a pretty typical cutesy romance story. It was a little slow at times and didn’t thoroughly keep my attention. I didn’t read the first two books so this can be read as a standalone even though we probably get some info that only makes sense if you’ve read the first two.
Jane is an awkward, uptight female character who almost seems a little spastic at times. She has a pretty low self-esteem due to her circumstances. Her mid-twenties crisis leads her on an adventure. Enter the sexy Greek god Dimitri to turn her world upside down. They both learn things from each other and balance each other well.
The dialog is sometimes over the top but cute and wacky. There is nothing earth shattering or new here but it’s a good fluffy, holiday/weekend read.
Finding You by Jo Watson immerses you into The Greek Life. Being Greek myself, I felt like Jo Watson must also be Greek. There is no way she is this spot on about our idiosyncrasies and doesn't have Greek blood running through her veins. To say I thoroughly enjoyed this would be an understatement. I absolutely adored this book. With more than a handful of laugh-out-loud snort giggle moments, Jo delivered a Rom Com that makes you smile and fall enough. That is one of my favorite things about Romance when you can fall in love right alongside the Heroine. I fell in love with Greece, I fell in love with Plain Jane and I fell in love with Dimitri. I want one. This book is more than just a rediscovery of who Jane is, it's also filled with superstition, rivaling magic and a love story traveling generations. You will fall so incredibly hard for this book. The way it all comes together just melts your heart. 5 Blushes for this beautiful tale that makes you want to hop on a plane and not look back. My only slightest complaint was that I wanted an epi. I wanted a tiny more of the HEA, but perhaps that is only because Watson made me Greddy with this story. I finished it in a day and neglected my laundry.
