Are you up for a road trip?

Where as most of us will probably only visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks main visiting areas. This book of stunning photographs will show you the beauty of the Yellowstone country.

From the majestic wildlife, to the fabulous landscapes. Along roads that are less travelled by visitors, these pictures will bring alive the natural beauty of the Yellowstone country, spanning Idaho, Wyoming and Montana states.

For an armchair visitor, who may never visit this area. I found the photographs rich and stunningly beautiful in this coffee table book.

A book full of beautiful pictures from Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. The term "Yellowstone Country" is a bit of a stretch since many of the pictures come from way, way outside the Greater Yellowstone Area (yes, this is a defined area). I would suggest getting this book in print as it did not seem as impressive on an e-reader.

Three stars
This book comes out June 28

Yellowstone Country: Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, by David Skernick is a brilliant travel photography book.

In the Introduction, the author shared that this book "contains photos from Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. These are sometimes called the Big Sky states, and I have to say the sky does look bigger up there. There are fewer gray roads in these states than in others. That is to say, there are just fewer roads. Cities are scarce and far apart.... Wildlife is everywhere. There are beautiful farms, ranches, mountains, rivers, and lakes."

This book features stunning landscape photographs from the states of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, including Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.

Yellowstone Country is geared towards various ages, from young adults to older generations, and it's especially recommended for those interested in photography travel books.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Yellowstone Country: Idaho, Wyoming & Montana is a collection of artwork by David Skernick. It is currently scheduled for release on June 28 2017. Are you up for a road trip? Ride along the back roads of the vast Yellowstone region and enjoy stunning panoramic photographs that reveal the beauty of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana and include Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park in all their glory. Embark on an expedition without GPS, visiting majestic wildlife and drinking in fantastic landscapes along the way. Glimpse the emerald green Shoshone Falls in Idaho, turning aspens and grazing moose in the Grand Tetons, black bears roaming the Devil’s Tower region in Wyoming, glorious geysers, steamy hot springs, and imposing bison with their young in Yellowstone, the raging Bull River and otherworldly Glacier National Park in Montana, as well as lonely railways and isolated barns along “gray” roads, that is, the ones less traveled. The appendix includes a complete list of camera equipment, exposure, and panorama statistics—enough to satisfy even the techiest of photographers.

Yellowstone Country: Idaho, Wyoming & Montana is a beautiful collection of images that has me itching for a road trip. However, since that is not in the cards for my near future, I am turning that inspiration toward to local parks and beauty that can be found closer to home. Looking through this collection really made me more appreciative of the everyday beauty of the world, and wanting to both share it and protect it from the pollution and destruction that seem so inevitable these days. While I might be far from Yellowstone- and I might never get to see it in person- I found that the angles and light in this photographs made me feel like I was there, and I was able to glory in the sheer scope, amazing colors, and the pure power of nature. No matter where you live, and if you are a wanderer or homebody, this photographic journey will enthrall and amaze you with the wonderful sights to be found in Yellowstone Country.

I'm always a fan of books with beautiful pictures of places I have yet to visit and this is the perfect example. While this would make a great coffee table book it would also make a great gift, especially for someone who may be traveling to Yellowstone.

I'm not an expert on photography, nor an art critic. I requested this book to review because I've always been a fan of Yellowstone since I was a kid on my first trip, nearly 50 years ago. I was blown away by the images that David Skernick has included in this book. They are so crisp, so realistic, it's as if I could reach out and touch the horse's mane or can feel the chill standing on that mountain highway.. In particular, I'm drawn to the clouds, which are often unremarkable, but yet they somehow pull my eyes toward the photograph. I'm not sure how he does this. But it's an amazing experience to view the photographs in this book. Thank you for letting me experience Yellowstone from David's eyes.

Absolutely stunning photographs in this book. Makes you want to pack your hiking gear and leave now for Yellowstone. I love all the pictures in this book. Three of my favorite are Sunset at Antelope Pass, Yellowstone Lake in September, and Castle Geyser where the geyser is blowing, the sun is shining, and their is a huge rainbow. I am stunned at all the wildlife pictures as well. David Skernick has done a fabulous job taking these breathtaking pictures. They are so crisp and clear you almost feel like you are there instead of looking at a book.

I love photography books. I get to see things I will probably never to get experience in person. I can also see the area and add it to my list of dream trips. After looking through this book Yellowstone is definitely on my list now.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

I feel like this is a photobook not just for people who live this type of scenery, but also photographers. The included EXIF data for each photo is incredibly interesting and a great way for other photographers to learn what works best for different types of shots. While not as many winter shots as I'd expect from a photography book from Yellowstone Country, a great collection none the less.

Yellowstone Country by David Skernick is beautiful with excellent compositions. I have not seen a potato field before. Giant sky adds a great magnitude to the picture of a field.
Old Rusty Barns are shown in different light sometimes contrasting with bright pink tree and matching with same color trees.
Many reflection images of lakes
'trees in snow' with the sky as wan as snow makes the trees magical like they are in the air
Graduating year commemorated on mountains shows unique culture of the place.
Lone tree compositions are attractive.
'White tail Deer' standing like the equidistant posts of the fence is an awesome composition.
'Clearwater Creek' with snow and black limb tree is a great contrasting picture.
For the photo enthusiasts, the appendix shows all the camera, lens details.
I learnt about elk bugling.
Wonderful book.

Beautiful photos of the wilderness that Yellowstone Country is known for.

This is an amazing book filled with stunning photographs including a bunch with Bisons. There isn't anything I negative I can say about the actual book itself.
There is a few flaws with the eBook edition though. The text is small and hard to read unless you constantly zoom in. The larger photos are broken up so you cannot see the actual photograph as a whole.

Beautifully captures the land in and around Yellowstone -- big skies, serene rivers, and majestic wildlife are just a few of the stunning sights to be found in this book.

A lovely coffee-table photo collection of Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding areas in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Bonus for photography nerds: the book features an index detailing what kind of camera, lens, shutter speed, F/Stop and ISO were used in each photograph. I need to grab my Nikon and go take some pictures...

Yellowstone Country collects together stunning works of art by David Skernick, a nature and travel photographer. These are snapshots of nature's beauty, and the serenity of the quiet 'civilised’ places that border wild ones. These are truly things of greatest value, for none can name their price.

One of my favourite pictures is a random Big Boy statue in the middle of the field. Many of the others recalled my childhood growing up on on my grandparents’ horse farm. There were several pictures of horses, and some of rusty trucks, circa 1950s, resting in a field. Then there are the photos of wild places- mountains, snow covered trees, riverscapes, elk, deer, moose, bison, bears and wolves.

For a writer, I found this to be a wonderful source of photo prompts and tools to help describe scenes in my own stories. For writers and poets of any flavour, this is a wonderful resource. For those who enjoy nature photography, this is an excellent addition to a photography library.
