Matching wits with a deadly killer…

This is the fifth book in the Kendra Michaels series that can be read as a stand-alone.

During the years of being blind Kendra Michaels honed her other senses as a survival mechanism, when she gained sight she retained the expanded use of those senses enabling her to make observations that most humans miss. This ability allows her to provide assistance to police and governmental agencies in solving crimes. Her success rate has garnered her the respect of law enforcement who now readily ask for her assistance with difficult cases and though there are times she’d like to pass on a case it’s hard to say no when she can really be of help. There is a drawback besides the toll each case takes on Kendra’s soul, bringing perpetrators to justice unfortunately brings her to their attention and this time she’s not just captured the notice of a serial killer but has become their obsession, one who has already outwitted many and finds it a challenge to see if she can solve the enigma they present. Confronted with an intelligent psychopathic opponent she’ll have to use all her skills to win a deadly chess game.

This was a great fast moving action and suspense story, the involved mystery had a wicked twist this reader did not see coming. I love how Kendra protects her own and what she’ll do to get her way, she’s caring and protective of those she calls friends. Kendra is one of my favorite characters from this author. She’s intelligent and witty and I love the dialogue which is the foreplay between her and the very alpha agent-for-hire, Adam Lynch, who can’t seem to stay away from Kendra for long, their sexual tension is palpable and I have to wonder will they ever finally act on their chemistry. They make an interesting pair, each gives as good as they get, they are deep multi-faceted individuals, the dynamics between them delightfully amusing at times and with each story we see them exhibit growth.

It was a unique thriller mainly because the ended was very surprising. The series is good as well. The main character starts of as blind but is able to see with her mind .

Kendra Michaels used to be blind and after a very special surgery can now see. Being blind for so many years allows her to use her other heightened senses to help law enforcement. Kendra has a small circle of friends but loves them fiercely. After a serial killer puts her in his cross hairs the first thing she does is protect her loved ones. Even if they don't want it.

Lynch being the love interest was the icing on the cake. He added humor and a lightness to the story. The two of them as a couple needs to happen in a future book that I would love to read.

Thanks to NetGalley for this copy to review.

There is a serial killer on the loose and the FBI once again calls Kendra Michaels for the expertise assistance. You know anything that involves Kendra will bring Adam Lynch into the picture. He and Kendra will do their usual dance around each other. The case becomes bizarre when it becomes obvious that the killer leaves behind souvenirs from some of his past murders. Things will really become twisted when the murderer is revealed. This one will keep you guessing until the very end. Never saw it coming!

A very well done thriller in the serial killer/stalker genre. If you haven't read the Johansens then this is a good place to start because Kendra is a well developed character with distinct and unique characteristics. She's also got an intriguing relationship (okay- it's a tortured relationship) with Adam Lynch which has fluttered through the series. You don't need to have read the earlier books to enjoy this one but I know some readers might be unsatisfied with parts of this latest installment. As always, there are some implausible things and there are times when you'll think someone is a real dope but this is true for all novels in this genre. It's well written and quite entertaining with good twists and clues to keep you guessing. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Two thumbs up!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Look Behind You by Iris and Roy Johansen that I read and reviewed.
All I can say is wow this book was absolutely amazing. The writing duo of Iris and Roy Johhansen hit it out of the park with Look Behind You.
I loved the return of Kendra Michaels in this book and her chemistry with Lynch was off the charts again. The storyline in this book kept me guessing until the end and when it was finally revealed who Zachary, the serial killer, was I had to read that part just to make sure I did not miss something because I did not see that coming at all and I loved it. This book is definitely one of the best Kendra Michaels books in the series. It is a must read!
I am giving Look Behind You five out of five stars.

I don't even know where to begin with this book, but to say read this book. Don't even think about it, just read it. Don't even read the synopsis, this is a must read! At every turn in the book it keeps you guessing. My jaw was literally on the floor when the truth was revealed. I think my exact words out loud were, "wasn't expecting that one!"

Thank you to Net Galley, Publisher and Authors for an ARC of this book.

I have been reading Iris Johansen books for years. I have loved pretty much everything I have read.

I loved this story. The search of a long-time serial killer. I love Kendra! She is a great character who you want to be friends with. I love the banter between the characters. I am not with most readers on Lynch. I like him enough but personally I'm more into Metcalf.

Iris and Roy knocked this one out of the ballpark. I look forward to many more Kendra stories!

This is the first book by Iris & Roy Johansen that I have read. I did not realize that this was a book in a series, but I was able to read it as a standalone. I did wonder while I was reading it, if there were books before it. I will have to go back and read the others, since I am a little curious as to what other crimes were solved before this one.
In this story Kendra gets involved in a serial killer case. Little does she know that she is the end target to the madman. As soon as Adam finds out what is going on, he rushes back to be there for her and help her. Kendra is worried for the safety of her best friend and hires another friend Jessie to look over her. As the case becomes more complicated than any of them have ever imagined, the feds bring in a dream team of investigators to help. Can they stop the mad man in time, before he kills again? Will Adam keep Kendra safe?
reaction mrw omg shocked skeleton GIFThis book was a thrilling ride from page one. I loved it. It had me on the edge of my seat, going “Oh my God Oh my God!” on several occasions. It keeps you guessing till the end. Who is the mad man?? I loved the characters in this book. Kendra is a strong woman, who doesn’t hide in fear. Adam is a sexy man at the top of the government chain. Have not figured out his role in the FBI or goverment yet. That may be explained in the first four books, but I can tell he is in love with Kendra, even though it is not said. Then there is her blind friend Olivia, who has such strength and perception. Jessie is a bad ass investigator who rides a motorcycle. And then there is Metcalf whom has a thing for Kendra as well, but I really don’t think he is in the running.
shocked surprised jaw drop GIFThis book is really intense and I enjoyed it very much. I could see this being a movie. Iris & Roy Johansen has just moved to a favorite on my top authors list. I can’t wait to read more of their work. They write with the intent of keeping thier audience captivated. It sure worked on me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers.

I'm not sure why here is a space for reviews, I mean this is a Johansen book, which obviously means 5-stars before you even read the first page! Romance, angst and a great twist. A+++++++++++++++++++

This is the first book in the Kendra Michaels series which I have read and I plan to go back and read the other 4 in the series. This is a stand alone novel which new readers will love. The authors catch readers up quickly without slowing down or repeating information readers fans already know.
The pace of the story moves quickly as well as the dept of the characters. Even though most readers to the series already know Kendra and everything that has happened to her and new readers are able to follow her development though the story.
This book pulls readers in keeping them hooked until the very last page. Readers are given different points of view one being the killer which is interesting to see how the authors created the killer and how his mind works.
Fantastic read from first to last page. This is one not to be missed in your summer reading and I can't wait for the next in the series. While I am waiting I am going to pick up book 1-4 because this is a series I can't miss one book.

Thank you to Negalley and the publisher for the advance copy and I can't wait to read more.

The Johansen's writing is as subperb as ever. In this book Kendra Michael's is after a serial killer that has set his sights on her. Adam Lynch flies in to help her and to protect her. There are twists and turns and an ending I didn't see coming. I was riveted to this book.

Look Behind You
By Iris Johansen

Fans of Iris Johansen will really enjoy this book about Kendra Michaels. In my opinion it is one of the better ones that have been released in the past year. It was very fast paced and intriguing. I read it in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down.
The story revolves around Kendra Michaels, the young woman who was born blind but received her sight through an experimental procedure. The killer has been murdering people for over ten years in several different parts of the country, each one with a different pattern. Finally, the killer has brought everything home to Kendra’s hometown. Copycat killings from his other murders, souvenirs left behind at each murder site, and the message, LOOK BEHIND YOU, all mix together to bring an exciting adventure. When the murderer reaches out and touches people Kendra loves, it just gets more intense.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was well written and, though it followed Johansen’s usual pattern, there was enough newness to make it exciting.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

What a great suspense. Iris Johansen never fails to deliver a good edge of your seat suspense such was the case with this book. Great plot.

Another hit for Ms. Johansen. Kendra is always an interesting character. She is a female Sherlock, except she has feelings and compassion for others. Her best friend, Olivia is fast becoming a favorite on mine. Fast paced and well plotted.

Let me say first: I love the Johansen's, and I love Kendra Michaels, the lead character. An ultra-sick serial killer is on the loose, and Kendra, et al, eventually conclude that this is the work of someone who's been killing for quite some time... and leaves obscure teaser clues with each body. Now he's challenging Kendra to find him, in part because of the reputation she's garnered; having been blind for the first 20 years of her life, Kendra had to rely on all her other senses to provide info her eyesight couldn't. Surgery gave her her eyesight back, and now it's added to her already ultra-sensitized other senses. This is an intriguing, brilliantly-written suspense novel that will make the hairs on your neck stand at attention! Highly recommended.
