I enjoyed this installment in the K-9 Rescue series. Oliver is such a joy, with his good looks, strength and sense of fun. The glimpse of vulnerability only made him more desirable. Macayla is feisty and self-confident, without being pushy. I loved her personality and how she fit so well with Oliver. She did a few things that belied her intelligence and made me squint – but other than that, the story was good. A fun, fast-paced, who-done-it, that made me read it in one sitting.

Aussie K9 search and rescue and a female pet detective- great combination for the next book in the series. Enjoyed with suspense and setting from the first page. Recommend this series and author.

This was an entertaining romantic suspense. This was my first time reading this author, and I will definitely be going back to read the other books in the series. I love books with animals in it, especially dogs.

OK so this is book number 6 in the K-9 Rescue series but I have never read the previous books in the series but you don't have to because the main characters are different in each book so you can read these as stand alone if you want.
I very much enjoyed this book. It has suspense, romance and a bit of sex. It kept me reading and I can't wait to read more books in this series.
I give Physical Forces a 4 out of 5 stars.

I love dogs anyway but this story was probably one of my favorites in the series. Macayla is a pet detective, finding missing dogs, and Oliver is with a K9 rescue service. Great romance and it is just totally enjoyable to read.

'PHYSICAL FORCES' by D.D. Ayres is book Six in the "K-9 Rescue" series. This is the story of Macayla 'Mac' Burkett and Oliver Kelly. I have not yet read the other books in this series so for me it was a standalone book .
Mac does Pet Detective work which now has landed her in some serious trouble after one of her cases lead to a bigger crime. Oliver is part owner of a K-9 Search and Rescue business. They get off to a rocky start it seems but they end up help each other solve what has been going with the animals.
I have never read a Dog Detective Romance Before and this one had a little bit of everything in it. We had the Hot Hero, the strong heroine, some funny scene and of course the animals.
Overall Great Read!
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

5 STARS FOR THE HUMOR, HEAT AND HEART!

This is the story of . . .
Macayla “Mac” Burkett, pet detective and Oliver Kelly a visiting K-9 Search and Rescue operative.

Mac’s made a name for herself as a pet detective, she finds lost or runaway pets for a living. While on a case to recover three greyhounds, she witnesses a murder that puts her front and center of a conspiracy. When rumors abound regarding her true motives and cast suspicions on her success rate, Mac founds herself trying to uncover the real culprits of a ring of pet thieves that are out to frame her.

Bumping into hotter than hot Australian Oliver Kelly isn’t on Mac’s radar. But there is something about him that gets under her skin. Giving into their attraction and finally letting herself explore a moment in time away from her fears and self-recrimination leads to a chance at a happily ever after with a man willing to fight by her side.

Oliver and his loyal Australian shepherd, Jackeroo are no strangers to danger and realize there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to quirky Macayla. Oliver didn’t plan on falling for her or anyone for that matter, but he recognizes that Mac’s the real deal and no matter what she says, she needs someone to have her back and he’s more than willing to prove to her just how much her trust means to him.

What I loved:
I’m a sucker for teasing banter, sexy flirting and engaging humor and Physical Forces knew just how to deliver all three. I also really fell for both MCs.

I loved that Oliver was easy to smile and hard to push away (although Mac does make a decent effort to distance herself – for like a minute!) but also how ready he was to come to Mac’s aide. Even when they were separated, she stayed at the forefront of his mind. After reading a lot of brooding/damaged H’s it was nice to read about a guy who didn’t let his less than perfect past stand in the way of being happy.

And Mac was a gutsy h who could hold her own when it came to Oliver. She was the all-or-nothing type but never crossed that TSTL line. It was fun to watch her let her guard down with Oliver and both of them being able to easily trust the other with their most vulnerable sides. A story is good when you can feel the spark of chemistry between the MCs and the heat packed in this is sexy hot! It was made great because it wasn’t all physical between Oliver and Mac, that was just the icing on the cake. They also get to know each other outside the bedroom, they share their lives and develop intense feelings for each other that makes for a believable HEA.

I loved Oliver and Mac so was sad to see it end, wish it could have been longer only because I wanted to keep reading about these two and Jackeroo and of course Pickle too!

Memorable Moment(s):
For me the most memorable moment was their first meeting. It set the tone of the book for me. It showed Mac’s confidence in her line of work, her generosity and bravery. It gave us a taste of Oliver’s outrageous sense of humor but also his protectiveness towards Mac. I really didn’t laugh about Mac’s assumption that the Australian hottie was actually a dancer for Thunder from Down Under. Of course Oliver plays along for the fun of it and it was funny all the way around.

The second most memorable moment is the heart to heart Oliver and Mac share at their second meeting. Their relationship becomes more than just physical. Oliver shares his love of his partner Jackeroo and the important work that they do together. And also when he talks to Mac about his fear of public speaking and his dyslexia. It was a touching moment where we see them forming deeper feelings for each other.

Favorite Lines:
“The past is always relevant.”

“I have responsibilities, animals to take care of.”
The old twinkle in his blue eyes flashed to life. “I’m an animal. You could feed and pet me.”

Physical Forces by D. D. Ayres is a marvelous addition to the K-9 Rescue Series. No formula writing here, Ms. Ayres always gives the reader a fresh new plot with this one involving a framed pet detective. There is the intelligent, strong heroine and her equally matched hero. However, one thing I love about these books are the intelligent, loyal, hardworking dogs who are showcased. The relationship between the handlers and dogs is such a delight to read, plus being enlightening.

Serious read as always but a few more lighthearted moments between the main characters. I chuckled at Oliver’s mistaken assumption at their first meeting. While the focus seems to be on the relationship building between Oliver Kelly and pet detective, Macayla Burkett suddenly you see all the clues that have been subtly given. Just when you think you have it figured all out, something else changes that predicted. Keep you guessing romantic suspense.

I continue to enjoy the K-9 series. If you liked the previous books in this series, you will also enjoy this one. The male lead - Oliver is a really well developed, enjoyable character. Macayla - the female lead is less so. I would have preferred a little bit more back story and explanations as to why her past impacted her so profoundly. Other than that I did enjoy the two together.

The suspense was well thought out, and carried to an interesting conclusion. I felt the ending was a bit abrupt, it could have been a bit smoother. All in all a very enjoyable read.. Ms. Ayres does not disappoint.

This is not a typical K-9 rescue novel; it follows the adventures of a Animal Rescue Specialist (Pet Detective) who stumbles into some dangerous activities.

Macayla (Mac) Burkett enjoys her job as a pet detective most of the time. There we're days though..."she'd been bitten by an accidentally cornered squirrel and sprayed by a startled skunk." Her last job was finding three very expensive racing greyhounds which didn't end well. She found the dogs dead, and witnessed what appeared to her as a man being shot. She reported it to the police, but they could find no evidence. Chasing a Pomeranian from under a dumpster was her present task. A very tall gorgeous Aussie named Oliver Kelly with his Australian Shepherd Jackeroo end up helping with the rescue, and then protecting her from thugs that were bashing in her car. Oliver is intrigued and attracted to this crazy woman. Mac is trying to ignore his muscles and a very attractive butt!

Oliver works for an organization called BARKS......Bolt Action K-9 Services. He's in St. Petersburg, Florida for a conference where he is supposed to give a speech. He is terrified of speaking, but Mac talks him down and helps and all goes well. He changes his plans and decides to spend more time with Mac, especially when she is accused of being a part of a dognapping ring. Things get dangerous and Max confesses a tragic and frightening incident in her past. Not only dangerous, but the heat rises when Mac and Oliver realize their attraction is more than a fling.

This novel has lots of laughs, sizzles and dogs. The danger and intrigue make this an enjoyable read. I received this ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for an honest review.

This is my first book in the K-9 Rescue series. This story is about Macayla and Oliver. Macayla is working as a local pet rescuer and is trying to coax a dog out from under a dumpster, when Oliver while going on a run with his K-9 parter Jackeroo, mistakes Macayla as a homeless person. From this point on trouble ensues Macayla, from getting her car trashed by some young deviants waving a bat, to being accused of dognapping the very animals she is ordered to rescue. Let's not forget that prior to her meeting Oliver, on another case, she witnessed a murder. Macayla is a very sweet, protective and independent woman who falls for Oliver. Oliver and his partner Kye, own and operate BARKS (Bolt Action K-9 Rescue Services) that goes around the world to help people that are in imminent danger from natural disasters. Oliver and Macayla have chemistry the moment they lay eyes upon each other. This was an alright read for me. I liked the story well enough, though I felt it was drawn out in some places and though Oliver and Macayla get together I just did not feel the passion of their love. 3.5 stars.

This is the sixth book in this series and the first book by this author that I've read. This is a very entertaining romantic suspense story. This book will have you hooked from the beginning till the last page, having you reading long into the night. I fell in love with the characters as I read. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended
I voluntarily reviewed and advance reader copy of this book.

This book took me by surprise........the hero is a big, bearded Australian named Oliver......(mmmmmm I spent the whole books with that accent whispering in my ear) the heroine is kinda naive, down to earth dealing with some stuff named Macayla.......I loved the twist that the girl saves the boy......loved the fact that there was no BS between them......no misunderstandings. But above all Jackeroo is by far my favorite character.......great love story.....funny but emotional.

Well, I looked on Amazon and it seems this is the 6th book in K-9 series by D.D. Ayers. I am not sure how many I have read, but I think most of them, and I really have enjoyed them. This one was interesting because it almost felt like an offshoot of the series to me. It takes place for the most part in Tampa-St. Pete, Florida area and focuses more on the h in this story who is a "Pet Detective" as opposed to a K-9 handler. Oliver is the H and he is the K-9 SARS connection ( from Australia) who starts with the idea of a one night stand with Mac, but quickly finds he really likes her. She has all sorts of issues going on which made the story fun and interesting. I enjoyed seeing the regular crowd from the K-9 training facility even though it was very brief! An enjoyable read and am wondering if there will be more. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this for an honest review.

This was actually a surprise book for me. The widget was mailed to me like two weeks before the book was about to released. And it is the 6th book of the series! I think i panicked when i looked it up on GoodReads. I immediately mailed Ms. Justin regarding the reading order of the book. I thank the gods because I do not have to read the other books in the series.

This is a new author for me, so why not. I loved how this was written though.

Each page is filled on how Macayla and Oliver go about their lives. It did not contain too much thought. It had the right amount of narration and the characters thoughts on the event that are happening around them. I was delighted with Oliver's thought. Combine the Aussie accent, it was truly an enjoyable story.

The plot behind it was interesting. So is Oliver's predicament. But what I love about the book was Jack. Oliver's dog. Yes, him. You need to read it to know.

I rate this 4.5 due to the fact that it was not an overwhelming book. It is the 6th book and yet, I like that I can read it with reading the start of the series.

I really like this series. I'm a huge dog lover and genuinely enjoy the author linking romance and brave animals and their handlers together. The romance is sweet and spicey with a bit of suspense thrown in. I'm looking forward to snatching up other books by this author.

Search and rescue meets a pet detective…

This is the sixth book in the K-9 Rescue series that can be read as a stand-alone.

Macayla Burkett is hiding from her past and working as a pet detective for a private investigations firm while she recovers from the tragedy of a year before. She’s isolated herself from family and friends, not forming lasting relationships. Seeking two stolen racing greyhounds one night she captures violence on video bringing memories she hasn’t dealt with to the surface, were it not for the sound of approaching sirens she might’ve become another victim, the dogs were unfortunately found dead.

Dumpster diving to recover a missing Pomeranian Macayla meets a gorgeous man who has to be a stripper with the body and looks that he has. His long blond hair reminds Macayla of Thor. Next thing she knows he helps her against men vandalizing her car without being asked. She’ll admit to lust for the sexy man with an Aussie accent but she’s got too much to deal with for even one night with a stripper who’ll be gone in days. Or does she? Later in a hotel she sees his picture on a sign for a search and rescue conference and learns she’d judged him wrong and he let her believe it. She can’t help talking to him when she sees him there and it’s in the nick of time for he’s not having a good day at the thought of making a presentation in front of so many people.

As co-owner of a search and rescue firm Oliver Kelly is in Florida to promote the business. His partner usually does the marketing work but wasn’t available for this trip. He’s in a panic about what he has to do when he sees the cute perky pet detective in front of him, he grabs onto her for dear life. Strangely enough it was the best thing he could have done, her empathy gave him strength. There’s no denying the chemistry between them but that’s not the reason he keeps thinking about her after he leaves, he truly enjoyed being with her. When he learned that she’d landed in serious trouble he returns to help. Something about the quirky woman presses all of his buttons including some he didn’t know he had.

This was my first time reading this author and I quite enjoyed the read. There was a mystery to solve and a suspenseful plot with someone out to get the heroine but why is the question. Will they make the connection in time? I loved that dogs were included in the storyline, animals tend to bring smiles with their behaviors. Macayla seems to be a magnet for trouble and a great advocate for animal rights. The protagonists have relatable issues and they helped each other heal, their dynamics were entertaining. As they slowly got to know each other from their inner thoughts each doubted themselves but they needed to see where what was between them could go. You never know when you’ll meet that one person that changes your outlook on everything.

ARC received from publisher via Netgalley for an honest review

The chance to read an ARC of the K9 -series? Let me at it!

Add in a hot Aussie with a dog and I am all in.

Macayla and Oliver's story did take a little while for me to get into - but that could just be me and my headspace whilst reading.

I liked the pet detective theme of the book - and no, Macayla is not like Ace Ventura!

Throw in a bit of mystery and suspense and we have a sweet and fun tale.

I am not going to lie, I did feel that this installment of the K-9 series did lack a little of of the pow-factor that the earlier books did - again, this is just my thought. Though I was surprised when the culprit of the story was revealed, I defintely did not see that one coming.

I lost my old dog a few months back, and reading this story sure did make me miss her a little harder and make me think for a second or two - about getting a new dog.

I loved the cameos by some of the characters from earlier books in the series - I always like a quick snippet of where there are now.

I really have enjoyed all the books inthe K-9 series, and can't wait to see what D.D Ayres brings us next.
