2-1/2 Stars - I fell in love with the premise of this book instantly. I loved the idea of Riva and Ian's past and then their re-connection years later. The set up of the book was really well done and I was drawn in right away. You could feel the tension and intensity between Ian and Riva. A small ways into the book however things kind of took a downward turn and started out into the land of pretty unrealistic. After I while the characters got a bit lost in the infomercial for the "farm to table" movement. I get that it was a big part of the story as far as Riva's life but it droned on for way too long in my opinion. The love scenes were sexy and well written but because the story and characters had started to fall flat they weren't as connected as I was hoping. The end was just kind of wrapped up in a little bow too quickly for everything that was going on in the story. Overall, good premise but left me a bit disappointed.

Love this series and this newest addition! Anne Calhoun comes up with some great storylines and this one was excellent too. I'm not sure you call this a second chance romance, but the fact that Ian and Riva have some history makes the story more full. You get some flashbacks to tell you about their past interactions. And their present ones? HOT! I'm anxiously waiting for the next one!

"Turn Me Loose" is the sixth book of the Alpha Ops series by Anne Calhoun. A series about a group of cops working to bring down the criminals trying to take over the city of Lancaster. And of course the women who they meet and protect and fall in love with on the way. In this book we get to get up close and personal with Lieutenant Ian Hawthorn and the woman who he hasn't been able to forget, the woman who he knows he can never pursue, but just can't seem to stay away from.

Ian Hawthorn is a cancer survivor. Yet, he hates been thought as some sort of miracle. He is a warrior, a fighter and a protector. He has been avoiding his check ups for the last two years and spending his whole time trying to bring down the organization that has been corrupting not only his city, but also the police department. He, along with a small group of trusted cops have been going undercover and slowly fighting the criminals. He has been trying to find the drug source that has been funding the mob. However, the last thing he expected was to get help from the woman that he has desperately been trying to forget for the last seven years.

Riva Henneman has made a fresh start for herself. After being busted while trying to sell drugs in collage, she had to work as a confidential informant in order to not be charged. She is now the proud owner of a farm and restaurant, Oasis. A restaurant that caters to the farm to table concept. She is not only living her dream, but also helping out the kids in her community by helping them to get a second chance in life. So when her budding teenage chef is arrested, she finds herself yet again face-to-face with the one man that she wants to avoid at any cost. The man that busted her seven years ago. The man that she succeeded to stay away from, even though the chemistry between them could have scorched off paint.

Ian and Riva are older and wiser now. Yet, even though they know that anything between them can not only hinder the investigation, but would also endanger Ian's job and career, they just can't seem to get their bodies and emotions to listen to reason. A chemistry this intense just can't be denied...

Another hot and exciting novel by Anne Calhoun. I really hope that Jo and Caleb get their own novel. Their love - hate relationship has been sizzling from the moment that they met, and it is about time that we get to see it play out!

Riva was eighteen she was busted for selling drugs, the Officer who arrested her asked her to be his informant thus avoiding jail time. Ian was that officer, at that time, they were attracted to each other but never acted on it. Seven years go by, and in walks Ian, the attraction returns, and again finds herself making a deal with him, this time to save one of the kids working with her.

Fast-paced paced read with lots of drama and suspense, Ian is a cop that gave Riva a second chance when she needed. An attraction was always there between the two of them and still is years later. Riva and Ian must work together again, will they now have a second chance in love? Lots of suspense and drama, I really liked this entertaining read and the characters were amazing.

This is a fast paced, suspense filled romance about a former CI and the Police officer that once arrested her.

Overall this was an enjoyable read and I found myself very drawn into Riva's and Ian's past interactions and where their reunion might take them. Both characters are well rounded and the connection between them is sizzling. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves suspense romance and a story with an independent female lead and a sensitive alpha.

The Alpha Ops series by Anne Calhoun has the best kind of heroes - Navy SEALs and police officers - and delivers a sexy and suspenseful story every time. Turn Me Loose is the 6th book in the standalone series, and the third full length novel. I've been been eager to read Ian Hawthorn's story since he appeared as a secondary character in earlier books, and this romance definitely lived up to my expectations.

As a new cop, fresh out of the SEALs due to unforeseen circumstances, Ian is driven to succeed. When he catches a young college woman selling drugs in an undercover sting, he offers her a choice – jail time or working with him to catch some of the bigger fish involved in the drug trade.

When Riva Henneman gets caught by Ian she's humiliated, having thought the spark of attraction she'd felt when they'd made eye contact would mean a date after the deal, not handcuffs. Though her reasons for what she's caught doing are complicated, she understands the chance Ian is giving her when he offers her the deal to work with him. Once the job is done, she makes good on her promise to herself to do better and becomes a farm to table operator, running a restaurant with the help of disadvantaged youth one step away from their own trouble on the streets.

Riva's criminal past remains hidden – until Ian shows up one day in her restaurant several years later. A chance circumstance with one of her employees leads to Riva making another deal with Ian – she knows more secrets about the local drug trade then she'd let on before and even though she's kept herself clean, she's willing to put it all on the line to help Ian take down the leader. The flare of attraction between them is as strong as ever, one Ian couldn't and wouldn't act on when she was his informant and he was in a position of power. Now they are equals, and Riva isn't that 18 year old girl anymore. They've both had dreams of 'what if' in the intervening years, and fate seems to have given them a second chance. As things heat up between them, the danger does too. Will their happy ever after end far too soon?

I definitely did not expect the first meeting between Ian and Riva to turn out the way it did! From the very start of the story I was hooked, eager to see how things in the present could work out for them based on their past history. I really admired Riva's character, how she owned up to the choices she'd made and fought to make things better. She has a complicated relationship with her parents, and they play a key role in the plot of the story as Riva has to make choices that will affect them as well.

There's a high level of tension throughout, both on the suspense side of the story as well as between Riva and Ian. Ian has a lot of personal issues related to getting involved with Riva but he soon comes to realize that a relationship with her is more valuable to him than advancing his career. Still, his drive to solve the case he's been working on for years that involves the local drug trade and crooked cops means he's going to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Protecting Riva and lusting after her at the same time make for a challenge, one he soon loses when they are in close proximity. Their sex scenes are steamy and intense as they finally get the chance to lose control with each other. The second half of the story is a real nail biter as things come down to the wire. I love how the story played out and Ian and Riva definitely deserve their happy ending! Turn Me Loose is a fast paced, intense and sexy romance and one of my favorite reads this year.

Turn Me Loose
Alpha Ops series book 6
Release Date: May 30, 2017
Review copy provided by the publisher

Reading this book really got my OCD tendencies going. It's book 6 in the series, and I haven't read the previous ones! I never do that! I'm happy to say that after a few chapters my mind was put at ease. I didn't feel like I was missing any pieces of the puzzle. This book does well as a stand alone novel.

Rivas has turned her life around. I like a good redemption story. It puts a real human feel to the characters. I thought the storyline of Riva building a business that helps disadvantaged and at risk youth was brilliant. She was giving back to the community and trying to keep some kids from making the same poor decisions she did as a teen.

I struggled a bit with Ian's character. He wasn't totally likeable at the beginning. I got a slight sense that he was attracted to Riva at the beginning of the book, but it fizzled. There wasn't a whole lot of chemistry, at least I didn't feel it. I did end up liking Ian after a while, but it took time. Both of the characters were enjoyable, I just didn't care for them together. I didn't feel the connection.

Part of redeeming oneself is making tough decisions and doing the right thing. And Riva's decision to help bring down her own father, who's a criminal, couldn't have been easy. There's no love loss between father and daughter, but still, it had to have hurt her in some way.

This book was enjoyable. Ian and Riva make a good team when it comes to fighting crime. I think if you're a fan of romantic suspense, then give this book a shot!

Turn Me Loose is somehow the first book I've read from Anne Calhoun. While Turn Me Loose is the third full length book in the Alpha Ops, I had no trouble reading it as a stand-alone story.

Overall, I liked Turn Me Loose. I loved that after Riva has been busted in college for dealing drugs, she had totally turned her life around. I love she was also helping others turn their lives around after they had made mistakes. When Ian Hawthorn walks into her farm-to-table restaurant seven years later, everything from the past comes crashing back into her life. I loved that neither Riva nor Ian had really forgotten about each other over the years.

Riva offers to help Ian take down the leader behind the drugs coming into Lancaster. The fact that Riva knows who was behind the drugs seven years ago as well as now was a bit of an issue with Ian. I understood once she revealed who is behind the drugs why she had stayed quiet. I loved her motivation was taking care of the inner-city kids working in her restaurant and taking care of her mom.

I liked the connection between Riva and Ian. They had really great chemistry and I loved they finally acted on it once they got to Chicago. I really liked Riva and Ian as a couple overall, but wished they had both been more honest with one another sooner about everything in their past. I loved the overall takedown of the bad guy in this book and know Ian and Riva had to work together to make it happen.

Turn Me Loose was an enjoyable read and a good story for fans of romantic suspense. Again I read the series out of order and had no trouble keeping up with everything going on with the various characters. Even with other characters from prior books being mentioned in Turn Me Loose, it really was more centered on Riva and Ian, so I found it easy to follow the story line.

Rating: 3 stars (B-)

This one was really good and I had a lot of fun reading it. Ian is a top notch cop and he would never do anything to jeopardize his career. Riva was caught dealing drugs at eighteen and given a choice to become his informant instead of going to jail. After their deal was over their paths did not cross again for seven years and Riva and turned her life around and works with at risk teens and runs a farm to table diner. When one of her teens is arrested she steps up for them with a proposition and she and Ian are working together again. There were sparks seven years ago but now Ian and Riva have matured and the chemistry is palpable. They work well together and complement each other.

This book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend it.

'TURN ME LOOSE" by Anne Calhoun is book Six in the "Alpha Ops" series. This is the story of Riva Henneman and Ian Hawthorn. I have not yet read the other books in this series so for me this was a standalone book.
Riva was young teenage girl when she first met Ian. Ian was an Officer who caught her committing a crime of selling Drugs. Ian saw something in Riva and gave her a chance to redeem herself by becoming a confidential informant. Now years later Riva has turned her life around having a great job and even working with kids. When Ian walks into her Restaurant the old attraction they had earlier is back. This time they are going to act on it!
This was a exciting read with a Second Chance at Love.
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

I really really enjoyed this book. It was a page turner for me and I just couldn't put it down once I started reading. I loved Riva and Ian and you could feel the sexual tension between these two from the start. Full of suspense and action, Riva and Ian kept me riveted from the very first pages and held me tight until the end.

This was the first book by Anne Calhoun I read and I definitely want to go back and check out the rest of the books in the series.

Wow, Wow, Wow! I have read all the book in this series that just keeps going bigger and better with each book. Turn Me Loose, Alpha Ops Book 06, by Anne Calhoun is a sexy romantic thriller I didn't want to stop reading. The past and present are intertwined in Riva Henneman and Ian Hawthorn’s story, especially at the beginning. The danger is nail biting, the chemistry sizzling and the characters memorable with their failures, survival and desire to do what is right.

It would read well on its own but at the end, the reader is given a glimpse of the main characters from the last five books and hopefully a preview of characters in a future book. This help me as a reader to see the connections between them all which is not as obvious as in some series. Each story is extremely unique from the others. A truly amazing series, with Turn Me Loose being an incredible addition.

This was a sexy contemporary romance with lots of suspense. I loved the forbidden relationship between a cop and his confidential informant. The chemistry between Riva and Ian is off the charts from the moment they lock eyes in a coffee shop. Seven years after Ian arrests Riva and she becomes his CI, they are brought back together and put into an intense and dangerous situation. Despite being apart for so long there is still that undeniable chemistry between them and it's stronger than ever. I love how their story unfolded, switching back and forth between the past and the present. All of the cards weren't laid on the table right away so you're kept engaged and wanting more. Riva and Ian have gone through difficult things in their lives and they both come to find that by sharing those things with each other they can move on from their pasts and create a future together. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole story especially since the danger is so close to home. Great read!

This is the perfect romantic suspense. Wonderful characters with smoking hot sexy scenes. Action and suspense with a little mystery - I didn't want this book to end. This author is such an amazing writer - I can't wait to read whatever she writes next!!!

Riva Henneman has come a long way from the desperate girl looking for her daddy's approval. Working her butt off to re-invent herself and finally be the strong confident woman she always wanted to be. Staying on the straight and narrow was supposed to guarantee she never crosses paths with Officer Ian Harthorn again.

But when Ian walks back into her life, Riva finds that seven years isn't enough to erase their turbulent history. She still feels the explosive attraction between them but also the anger, resentment and embarrassment that bubbles just under the surface.

Going under cover with his former informant isn't how Ian pictured seeing Riva again. Even after seven long years, his feeling for Riva haven't dimmed. There is something thats been brewing between them from the first moment they met and Ian will have to decide whether he's ready to explore that or live up to his ruthless ambition. Will he choose his career or the woman that's become so important to him?

What I liked:
Not surprising (if you've read Anne Calhoun before) the emotional pull between these characters is palpable. Ian and Riva are far from perfect peope, each one fighting their own demons. I liked reading about these two average normal every day people confronting their pasts and letting down their guard.

What I didn't like:
Flashbacks. They just don't work for me. I feel that when there are two stories going on simulantiously, I connect more with one than the other and I always find myself frustrated to leave one time line and skimming through the other.

Favorite Line:
"The definition of crazy is doing the same thing and expecting different results. I was crazy. I was the best cop I could be, the best sergeant, the best lieutenant. It was never enough. But she's enough. She's more than enough. "

Memorable Moments:
The raw unfiltered smexy time in the shower after Ian's boxing match. I did not see that coming! Seriously, way to think outside the box A.C.
