Bella Jewel is really doing a great job with this romance and thriller combo. I love it!
I enjoyed 72 Hours, and had really high expectations with this one... I was not disappointed.
Apparently, she is equally good when writing Mc romance, actually any kind of romance for that matter, or thrillers.
If you love suspense, action, feels, angst and amazing chemistry between the two main characters, you will love this. Everything was so well balanced.
I highly recommend it!
Romantic suspense, when done well, is usually an enjoyable read for me. This one was...way too gory, the MC showed a tiny bit of growth I guess but mostly I figured out who the villain was almost immediately and didn't really enjoy the ride to get to the end. I think this just solidifies that if it's a romantic suspense, I need to stick to the authors I know because this book just left me frustrated and annoyed.
I also didn't buy the mother's personality change at all but applaud the author for trying to redeem her.
I recently bought a new kindle after my old one broke. For some reason I was unable to download this title from the cloud onto my kindle, therefore I will be unable to review this title. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.
I have been a big fan of Bella's books for a long time, having devoured her Joker's Wrath MC series as well as countless other books. I was initially gifted an ARC of The Watcher, but I took too long to read it and it archived, so I purchased a copy on Amazon. The issue was it took me a long time to get through this story because I just wasn't connecting at all to the story.
I think my issue was I just didn't feel like the characters were developed enough for me to form any type of attachment or opinion of them. As far as the story went, the most interesting parts were the past where her abduction and story with the serial killer who took her. The present day storyline just didn't hold my attention as much as it should.
I'm still a huge fan of Bella's and look forward to each new release.
The Watcher is one of those books I was very excited to read based off of the blurb and loving 72 Hours by Bella Jewel. The prologue immediately grabbed my attention and was very promising, but the rest of the book just didn't hold my attention. I actually tried reading this one, put it down, and tried again months later with the same results. There was just something about the characters that kept me from getting into The Watcher.
I've seen a lot of fabulous reviews about this one, so if you're a fan of romantic thrillers, I would recommend still giving it a chance if the blurb interests you.
I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sorry I was not able to read you book but it went to archive before I could get to it. Sorry once again.
The summary of this book reminded me a lot of Loreth Ann White's 'A Dark Lure', but the comparisons end there. I thought A Dark Lure was meaty, compelling, atmospheric and sexy - despite the horror. This book is entertaining and romantic, but not quite as psychologically scarring as A Dark Lure - which isn't necessarily a bad thing! Sometimes, all you need is escapism - and this is escapism at its best.
RATING: 1 STAR

Sigh. I really thought this was a romantic suspense. I would classify this more as an erotic romance with a mystery going on in the background. I prefer suspense and mystery with romance in the background. You do not need to know the ending, it was just an afterthought.
I love anything written by you. Beautiful job! Keep up the good work!
Discovered Marlie and Kenai in the anthology Eye Candy. So I decided to go back and read their story.
It was a good suspense thriller, a bit predictable, but overall I liked it. Marlie is a strong character and Kenai is the epitome of a HOT alpha male. They work well together.
I had heard great things about this book and even with high expectations going into it, this surpassed ALL of them
The Watcher is book 2 in a brand new romantic suspense series. We got a sneak peek into this heroine at the end of 72 Hours, and while I wasn't blown away with the first book, I was intrigued enough to give this one a shot. I enjoyed The Watcher a lot more than I did the previous book. The suspense plot was a lot more engaging and the characters better developed.
I'm a fan of the enemies to lovers trope, and the MCs certainly had that going for them.
After surviving a nightmare at the hands of a monster and barely escaping a brutal death, Marlie just wants to disappear. Unfortunately her mother writing a tell all book about her horrific experience ensured that she was thrown into the spotlight and stayed there. Living as far away from the town that carries haunting memories helps, but when her sister goes missing, Marlie finds herself back. Desperate for answers and with the police unwilling to help since they believe her sister simply ran away, she turns to a tracker who is known as much for his grumpy disposition as he is at finding missing people.
The story is told predominantly in Marlie's POV and unlike the heroine in the first book, she had plenty of depth. This is a woman that survived her own nightmare and lived to tell about it. She still can't burn the memories from her head or escape the nightmares that leave her in a cold sweat at night, but she never lost any of her inner strength. She was a fighter and you see that come out more and more as the story progressed.
The one thing that I found repeating in this book as with the last one, is I wasn't much connected to the romance. Kenai was sexy and broody, but at times he felt more like an accessory. I wanted more development for him. I wanted more of his POV. We only get a peak into his head towards the very end, and I couldn't help wanting more. I was completely hooked on the suspense, and ultimately that's what kept me turning the pages. The romance, while steamy, just didn't hook me.
Having said that, if you enjoyed the first book, you'll definitely enjoy this one. There's a hook for another book in the end that intriguing enough. I wanted to give this series another shot and I'm glad I did, since I did enjoy this much more.
As per usual Bella Jewel doesn’t disappoint and has stunned me once again. She held me captive with this romantic suspenseful story. The Watcher had me on the edge of my seat. I was kept guessing as the danger elevated one frightening moment at a time. Read this book! It will give you chills and have you on the ignoring everything just so you can turn the page again. Jewel has created a bone chilling story that will have you looking over your shoulder. Grab it now you won’t be disappointed.
I love this author , and I couldn't wait to start this one since I like the previous book. I love the suspense in this story and I enjoyed the characters .It has great potentials a strong heroine and a super hot hero.Did I need to say anything else to make you read it?
I was majorly disappointed in this book. Kenai rubbed me the wrong way and I just had a hard time with his character.
In my honest opinion, and as much as I love her romance novels, Bella Jewel should write more romantic suspense. I L-O-V-E-D this book!! Ohmigosh, talk about an emotional roller coaster ride full of dip's and loop's!! I'm so hyped about this book that I don't even know where to start with giving feedback.
Marlie was kidnapped and tortured by the gruesome serial killer named the Watcher. No woman has ever survived nor escaped his hold; until her. Years after her ordeal, Marlie attempts to live a undercover life, hidden from the public eye after her mother writes and profits off the story of her days within the Watchers grasp. All seems "well", until her sister comes up missing. Some people assume she's gotten involved with the wrong crowd, but Marlie isn't buying it. Marlie sets off on locating her sister but she knows she cannot do it on her own; here enter's Kenai. Kenai is a well known locater/PI but refuses to help Marlie. They get off to a rocky start but end up putting their differences aside in order to her sister. Throughout their "journey", something doesn't sit right with Marlie. She sense's there's something more sinister taking place; someone is playing a cat and mouse game. Could it be the Watcher come back to finish the job or a sick copycat looking for fame.
First and foremost, the way Ms. Jewel describes the horrific flashback scene's with Marlie and The Watcher left me on edge. It's like I could envision every detail she described as if I was watching a movie play out. Warning, its graphic but necessary; it gives the reader a glimpse into the Watchers crazy little mind. I don't know what it is about her latest book's but they leave me emotionally drained. Just when you think the hero/heroine has a reprieve, they're then thrown the ringer again but this time unsure if they'll survive. A true suspenseful novel in my eyes! I loved every minute this book. It had all of the elements you'll find in a well written suspense. I have to say, this book kinda tops 72 hours (just a smidge).
I don't care for this series of Bella but I have enjoyed her other works. This doesn't hit the spot for me. Thanks again for the opportunity.
Bella Jewel managed to snare my attention right from the first page with The Watcher when she throws you into a nightmare, a nightmare that actually happened to our heroine, Marlie, when she was kidnapped and tortured by a serial killer. But some how she manages to kill her captor and escape. Now it’s years later and still haunted by her experience…and it all comes streaming back when her sister goes missing and she can’t help thinking that he is back and punishing her…but he’s dead, right?
I loved this book! Jewel gives you a perfect mix of thriller and romance as Marlie goes on the hunt for her missing sister with the surly and silent Kenai, the private investigator she has hired to help her. Although both the romance and the mystery/thriller aspect of this book was fairly obvious from the beginning, that didn’t stop me from enjoying the book. I really liked Marlie’s character and the way Jewel built up the suspense. As for the romance, I love a grumpy taciturn hero who slowly has his walls broken down by the heroine.
The reason I enjoyed this book, despite the predictability of it, was because once I started I couldn’t stop, I read this in one sitting. It easily drags you in, you want to know what has happened to Marlie’s sister, even if you have already guessed, you want to see Kenai and Marlie get together, even though you know it will happen eventually. And you want to see them catch the bad guy, even though you have already guessed who it is. So, if you like a serial killer mixed in with your romance (and who doesn’t?!) I highly recommend you give this a try.
Unfortunately, I found this story a little corny. There was too much "giggling" from a character who was supposed to be in danger. Neither lead character took appropriate precautions for such a serious threat to their lives. Overall it was just too far fetched for my liking.
