Adeline Rigby agrees to be Jack Foster's fake fiance with a "no sex" clause, will they need to amend their arrangement? When Adeline moves in with Jack, they discover that they can't deny their attraction.
Falling for your best friends brother, a fake engagement, sex toys, a stripper pole, and a whole lot of shenanigans. When Adeline and Jack discover the only thing they can't live without is each other, this spicy read become one you will want to finish before the cookies are out of the oven.
Witty, sexy, fun, and flirty. A great beach read!
The Attraction of Adeline is a stand-alone novel in the Off the wall proposal series. It is truly a stand alone since I had no problem reading this book and I found out about the existence of the first book when I checked it out on Goodreads. It was a meh read though. Adeline has a different than normal personality and it might drive people off the book. As a kid who has switched mothers seven times, she is not willing to commit and has some hang ups. Jack was almost good, but he needed some improvements. He wasn't able to make accounting sound sexy. I also didn't like his boss. That man and his archaic beliefs should retire.
I wasn't sold on the book. I would have liked to see more romance between the two main characters. I liked that the french were translated and I was able to understand what the heck the characters were saying. I am putting that as a positive for the book because maybe authors use another language and neglect to translate whatever they said and I end up wondering what they wanted to say. I find the book a not bad way to spend your evening, but I wouldn't rush up to read it either.
I'm a sucker for a good fake fiance book and I really enjoyed this one. Jack and Adie were unique characters and I really enjoyed their interactions. This was a sweet romance and I can't wait to read more by this author.
This book was cute. I'm a sucker for this type a storyline. I was a little worried when I read some review comments...glad I didn't listen to them. I thought that the book was good, loved the characters, especially Adeline. Adeline minus the childhood has some attributes I wish I had so I enjoyed her. Jack... well he has some serious swoony characteristics. I highlighted a few of the things that he said cuz I loved them. Contemplated sharing them but don't want to ruin anything for future readers. This was a new author to me that I decided to take a chance on and glad that I did, I really enjoyed this book.

Jack needs a fiance in order to get a promotion (sexist much?!) and Adeline needs to learn French for bakery school, so they team up, and get more than they intended from each other.
This isn't my usual genre of books- I am usually more into thrillers, but fancied a change and the premise of this book caught my eye.
When I first started reading this book, I thought it was a bit amatuerist, but I persisted and to be honest I quite enjoyed it, it is an easy beach read. I thought I was reading a nice romance but I got a bit more than expected (think a toned down fifty shades of grey!- which I hated but this story is not as bad! some of the writing is quite sexy.
There was a lot of unbelievable things in the book, (the whole accountancy firm, the earnings-Ha! promotion etc) so it's not something to take seriously!
It's romantic, but very cliche and sexist in many parts and idealist which I wasn't a fan of, (there are a lot of cringey jokes in it to)
If you enjoy romance, are a bit old fashioned and want a nice easy read then give it a go.
This novel was well written and witty. The story line flowed nicely and I throughly enjoyed it.
Another cute romance from Lisa Wells and this book follows Kinley's brother- Jack and her best friend- Adeline.
Jack is an accountant and in order to get the promotion he's been aiming for, he needs to play the part of a family man.And for that he needs a fake fiance.Adeline needs help in French before she goes off to Paris for culinary school. They're both hesitant about faking an engagement when Kinley proposes the idea, but somewhere it seems to click and they find no harm in agreeing to it.
The only problem would be the wicked hot chemistry between them and how they're going to control this attraction, since Adeline won't be staying.I loved the way they first met each other! It was so funny and hot!
And Adeline was a blast! The things that came out of her mouth had me cracking up hard! But at the same time due to her past, she's wary of trusting people and Jack has a hard time getting past her walls.
Jack was pretty easy and laidback. No alpha male stuff going on.So it was refreshing and mature for a change.
The story and the secondary characters were well developed and I loved how the plot progressed.
You should definitely give this book a try if you're looking for a cute romance with the fake relationship trope, but a well developed and different set of characters!
DNF at 56%.
Jack Foster needs a fake fiancee to get the promotion at work he wants. Adeline Rigby is friends with Jack's sister Kinley and wants to learn to speak french before she goes to culinary school in Paris. Kinley suggests a quid-pro-quo where Adie pretends to be Jack's fiancee and Jack teaches Adie french.
As someone else said in their review, this just seemed to be going through the motions, maybe the idea that a large accountancy firm would have a requirement for potential directors/partners to be married was just too much to swallow (as an accountant) on top of the fake fiancee plot.
Either way, I just didn't really warm to either Jack or Adie and DNF'd.
What I thought:
THE ATTRACTION OF ADELINE is a funny, sweet romance. I really loved the relationship that develops between Adeline and Jack. There is a lot of chemistry between them from their first meeting and it grows as they get to know one another.
At first, this story seemed like just a lighthearted read, but there was a lot more to the characters. Adeline is trying to fulfill promises made to a loved one and doesn't believe that she has the time or the right to fall in love with Jack. Jack is trying to make a good impression at work and can't see that his personal life is more important than his professional one. I enjoyed the character development that both Adeline and Jack go through to get their happily ever after.
I would recommend this book for anyone who wants just a little more depth within a really cute, contemporary romance.
Rating:
I give THE ATTRACTION OF ADELINE a 4/5
Even though I knew they would end up together, it was still so much 'watching' their relationship develop then slowly evolve into romance. They have what each other need sin the beginning. She needs a language tutor, he need a fake Fiance for work in order to cinch a promotion and speaks the language she wants and needs to learn for her trip. A platonic match made in heaven. Except for the rules they have created for each other to make their relationship look real and authentic. Soon enough, they don't need to act like they are in a relationship. Like I said, even though I knew how their contractual relationship would play out, there were twists and surprises I did not see coming. At first I thought that the author/publisher gave too much away in the synopsis, but then I starting reading the book. Sure, it seems to be the main plot but, there is more to this story than a contract that doesn't go according to plan. I appreciate that even though I haven't read book one ( although I am planning on it!), I wasn't confused or lost. I wonder if there will be a third book?
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you've been a reader of my blog, you'll know that I absolutely LOVED Lisa Wells's last book, The Seduction of Kinley Foster. I loved the chemistry between the two characters, Kinley and Ian. It stirred up a lot of confusing feelings of nostalgia - needless to say, I connected with the story. Mix that with the fact that Kinley was writer-in-training for romance/erotica, and you had most of my catnip.
Now, I was REALLY looking forward to anything else written by Wells. And I want to remain on the record as saying that I will still read anything else she writes. The Attraction of Adeline, however, did not manage to stir up the same emotions that it's predecessor did. There is nothing really wrong with Adeline or Jack - they have their faults just like any romance hero and heroine have. But I found their chemistry still lacking. I made it 70% in the story, and found that I didn't care enough to finish it. You don't know how horrible this has me feeling - I was so looking forward to it! Maybe it's because I placed it on a pedestal? The first one knocked me off feet which was a very pleasant surprise. Maybe I was looking for a repeat of those feelings?
I suggest you try out this book, and tell me what you think! I definitely enjoy how Wells writes - maybe this one wasn't the one for me. Who knows? Maybe I'll pick it up at another time. For now, I might just go re-read The Seduction of Kinley Foster and rekindle those sparks for myself.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series...well series might be the wrong word, even though there are some recurring characters from the first book...so I had high hopes for this one. And, I can say they were mostly met.
Adeline was wonderful and you really like Jake. He is a good guy, but he loves Adeline, and that was fun. You like both of the characters, and you relate to why they are attracted and to the reasons that maybe they are not going to be able to work. The idea that it was started as a pretend engagement means they didn't really have those "what will your life look like in the future" conversations because they didn't need to. And, this added an interesting element to the story.
That said, I thought the resolution of the issues was too easy. Yes, love conquers all in a romance, but at the same time, there is a certain amount of liberty when you are an author to decide exactly how tall a mountain love will have to climb. And, in this one, I thought the differences in what he wanted in a wife and what she wanted for her future were too quickly and easily resolved.
That said, I did believe that Jack and Adeline really did love one another, so quick resolution or not, I believed in it at the end, and that is what really matters.
I recommend this book.
This was all out funny and lighthearted with some moments of poignancy. Adie is just truly a delightful character with her no filter comebacks, her moments of vulnerability and her very sizzling chemistry with Jack. This germophobic redhead and this career minded nerdy accountant will definitely engage readers when they pretend to be engaged! But it's the "practice sessions" that will have everyone in stitches. No one will regret reading this!
Adeline and Jack enter a mutually beneficial pretend to be engaged relation. They agree to the terms of this fake relation. But as they spend time together those terms are getting harder and harder to stick to.
This was a deep and complex read. They both had issues, Adeline more so than Jack. I loved how Jack fought for Adeline, he was a perfect hero.
The attraction for Adeline was a sweet, funny, a little sad, with a healthy dose of sexy moments.
I definitely had a blast reading The Attraction of Adeline! Fun, sassy, full of sparks and sizzling chemistry, this romance was a pure joy to read. Between Adeline and Jack, I loved these two. Their attraction was popping and I enjoyed the heck out of their interaction and banter. And when they got hot and heavy, it made me sigh a little and smile a lot.
This story is pure fun. From the likable characters, to the flirty plot, to the witty banter, this story is a REAL charmer! Lisa Wells drew me in with this book and I am now officially hooked on her writing style and I am looking forward to more fun, entertaining, sexy, and hysterical romances. Although, I am not sure if she can beat The Attraction of Adeline.
This upbeat story gets a SASSY AND ENTERTAINING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! It made me laugh and swoon, and enjoy the snark, the banter, and those sexy moments. A MUST READ!
This was a fun, easy read. The characters were likable for the most part. Adeline's stubbornness started to get on my nerves after a while but taking her back story into consideration made her more understandable. I absolutely loved Jack. He doesn't come off like an unrealistic guy that wouldn't exist in real life. Jack and Adeline had great chemistry and the sexual tension was just right. This book was just as funny as it is sexy and would be the perfect read for a day at the beach.

The Attraction of Adeline by Lisa Wells is such a great, great read.
This book had me feeling every emotion.
The craziness that is Adeline had me bursting out in uncontrollable laughter!!
She is a person who knows what she wants and why she wants it, but doesn't necessarily know how to go about getting it. This made for some very bizarre yet quite hilarious situations she put herself in.
Jack is the brother of Adeline's best friend Kinley. He has not had the greatest track record in love, but to progress further in his workplace, he must portray himself as a family man.
Their romance, although starting out as a means to an end for both of them, is very much an opposites attract one. Her craziness, his seriousness- it just worked.
This was such a brilliantly written book that I thoroughly enjoyed and definitely recommend.
I liked this book a lot because it was the perfect sweet character growing love story. Adeline was an interesting heroine that at times I liked and disliked. While in Jake’s case I liked his determination quality. Together they just worked. This story was had me laughing while reading it but it was also light and not overly complicated. I like a story with a more rawness to the relationship. It might need a bit of complications so they characters seem more realistic. For me it was a 4 star read.
Jack wants a promotion in his firm, so he needs a fake fiancée in his auditing firm, so he gets his sisters best friend Adeline. Adeline needs a place to stay while waiting to go to Paris for culinary school, so they agree on an arrangement. They have rules they make for no misunderstandings. Three kisses, no feelings, no sex. There was some backstory, shows why they are the way they are. Adeline is closed off, due to childhood, and Jack had to break down some walls. it was an enjoyable story.
