The Attraction of Adeline is a fun, quirky romance that will have you chuckling one moment, frustrated beyond belief the next and perhaps a bit misty-eyed at some points.
Adeline didn’t believe in love, not the forever kind. She’d never seen this so called love thing work out before. So a purely fake relationship where Jack got what he wanted and she got her dreams was perfect. Jack didn’t expect to fall for his temporary bride to be, and was even less prepared to learn that she totally did not believe in lasting love. She didn’t want the words because the words were most often lies. All he could do was show her how he felt with actions and hope at at some point she’d believe his words of love.
I enjoyed Jack and Adeline’s rocky romance. She had other commitments and dreams, he found what he didn’t know he wanted. Somehow they managed to make all their dreams find a way to become reality. I admit, there were moments of frustration with Adeline, her treatment of Jack, the way she refused to believe in what her own emotions were screaming at her. Yet, we all love differently, and Adeline had to find her way into something she’d been so certain didn’t exist.
I enjoyed my time with this couple and would recommend this one for any Romance reader.

A firmly embedded memory that stays on the mind. Like learning the words to a favorite song or playing a tune out of time. Adie and Jack, bewitched my heart and proved be like a fine wine. The Attraction of Adeline is an emotional roller coaster ride. Adie has all the makings of a beautiful treasure, but her heart and spirit has been broken down by life. Lonely, heartbroken and never good enough, has taught her what it means to be tough. Until shelter from the storm arrives with a relationship of convenience. Jack shares a similar outlook with Adie. Betrayal has taught him to keep his heart on lock down and his head out of the clouds. With one look Adie has made him rethink that. Her shields seem impenetrable. Yet he wants to break them down. Her eyes are pools of heartache, in which he wants to drown. Her heart may be off limits, but his is down for the count. Alluring, heartbreaking and endearing, The Attraction of Adeline is a hauntingly sweet yet soulful journey of courageous hope.
A very cute romance that makes a great read! You just have to know that a fake engagement will turn into love, but somehow that doesn't matter...you just keep reading because you can't help but love the characters!

A perfect read for when you're in the mood for a light romantic comedy. I loved Adeline and her no-filter mouth as it made for some entertaining situations. As well, I liked that we get her backstory, which does help to shine a light on why she is the way she is. The relationship between Jack and Adeline was adorable from its inception, however I may be in the minority when I say that there were times where Jack annoyed and frustrated me. Although their banter was always hilariously entertaining. In spite of what felt like a quick and easy resolution, I did appreciate that both Jack and Adie were able to get their sweet if somewhat teary happy ending.
This was just an ok read for me. Pretty typical fake fiance trope with nothing that really made it stand out for me. It is well written and the characters well developed, I just never really connected with them.
Jack Foster needs a fiance to seal the deal on him making partner at his accounting firm. Adeline Rigby wants to become fluent in French before she leaves for Paris and Jack is the man who can help her achieve that. When he proposes this deal she thinks it may work out well as long as they follow the rules.....
Not a bad read, just not a favorite for me.
One of the most humorously entertaining stories I've read. Filled with sass, attitude, love and lots of romance, you can't help but fall a bit in love with Jack and Adeline yourself. Adeline without her, as she calls it, mouth filter will have you wiping tears away from chuckling out loud so many times. Jack's gentleness and vulnerability when it comes Adeline, will have you sighing as you feel the tug to your heart. Their times together are genuinely heartwarming and memorable.
Ms Wells has created such likable characters who are larger than life in their personalities...as heroes and heroines go, Jack and Adeline make the top of my list of all time favorite couples I would love to meet. Since that's not going to happen, I'll just have to read their story over again...I'm sure there's plenty of Adeline' snarky sassiness that'll have me coming back time and again...and Jack, can I just say...sigh.
This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I DNF'ed this one. I really tried, and stuck it out to about 75%, but I just wasn't invested enough to find out the ending. Also, I don't care what happened. This was the most drawn out, will-they/won't-they book ever. It just went on and on and on and on. Right, we get it, Adie is screwed up and has trust issues, blah, blah. There wasn't enough of a storyline or drama to continue the angst. It was like being on a merry-go-round, with no end in sight.

The Attraction of Adeline is a romantic comedy perfect for when you want something to cleanse your bokk palate or when you're in a book funk. It's funny and light and uncomplicated.
But it also has a story and an actual plotline behind all of that.
Adeline frustraded and annoye me a lot through the book, but in the end I liked her.
Things between her and Jack happened maybe a little too perfectly, I would have liked to see more "chasing" and a slower burn, but I did like their romance!
Adeline Rigby will live with Accountant Jack Foster and pretend to be his fake fiancée for one month in order for him to seal a promotion to partner. In return, Accountant Jack Foster will intimately tutor Adeline Rigby in French before she leaves for Paris where she will fulfill her dream of attending Le Cordon Bleu.
The Terms:
1. Maintain distance. Three get-to-know-you dates before announcing their engagement will be tempting enough.
2. No kissing. Okay, fine. Three kisses. Maybe four. And neck kisses don’t count.
3. No touchy feely stuff. Or at least not too many public displays of touchy-feely stuff.
4. No sex.
5. All right, all right. One night of sex in order to be a believable engaged couple.
6. Two nights of mind-blowing sex to make sure first night wasn’t a fluke.
7. Absolutely, positively, no falling in love.
I really liked this book. The premise is one of those that's "been there and done that" but the actual book was great. The writing was stellar, and the characters were well fleshed out and funny. I would describe Adeline in one word - Aspergers. The girls got serious social skill issues. She says the wrong things at the wrong times, and she does the wrong things at the wrong times. I was sitting there reading and counting on my fingers all the symptoms of Aspergers she had. She reminded me of Temperance from Bones. Her directness and sometimes bordering on rudeness - that she didn't mean. I found this book refreshing! Jack, Oh Jack!! You are the perfect man! Dude kept me reading all night. If there were an accountant like Jack in our town, well he'd have our business. He was sweet, funny, sexy and did I mention sexy? I did, didn't I?
He meets Adie while she's dancing on a stripper pole and knocks herself out...Jack being the great guy he is and also being the responsible brother of Adie's best friend - get's manhandled into watching Adie by said sister. What starts out as a night of watching a concussed Adeline, turns into a proposal for a fake fiance for his accounting firm. Craziness, sadness, and outright hilarity ensue between these two and make this an absolute gem of a book for me. I would definitely pick up another novel written by Lisa Wells in a heartbeat.
I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.
I found there to be zero attraction to Adeline. She was a VERY hard character for e to like. For me, she was unenjoyable. She was always sending mixed messages to Jack.
I liked Jack on the other hand. He was the only good thing in this story. I was hoping to like them as a coulee, but Adeline was such an unlikeable character. I know she had a hard life, but life is what you make it.
Adeline’s best friend introduces her to her brother, Jack. Adeline falls and hits her head and has a mild concussion so Jack stays with her to make sure things are all good. While they’re together they talk and Adeline finds out that Jack is up for a promotion. Jack says he probably won’t get it as his boss is really old-fashioned and believes that any partner needs to be married. Jack is single so that counts him out. Jack really wants that promotion as he’s a hard worker so he ends up asking Adeline to be his fake fiancé. When her landlord decides to sell her condo she moves in with Jack and it’s the perfect time to try and sell their fake engagement to his boss and co-workers.
Adeline has agreed to be the fake fiancé but has no desire to go any further with it…at first. She immediately takes sex off of the table but is soon changing her tune. Jack was left at the altar at one point in his life and has no desire to ever get married. That’s until he gets to know Adeline better and ends up falling in love with her. Soon Jack is saying things that are supposed to be fake but are he really means them. Adeline thinks that Jack is incredibly hot but she has plans for her future and none of those include a man.
This book was part fun and funny and part heart-breaking. The fun and funny part were when Jack and Adeline were together. I loved that they could laugh at each other and have a good time. Adeline was a bit of a stick in the mud but she was so fearful of getting off of her life track that she couldn’t bend. The heart-breaking part was Adeline’s life. She had been put into foster care at the age of 5 and had had 6 foster families until finally the 7th family stuck. She loved her foster mother, Dottie, but Dottie not only had Alzheimers but breast cancer and was dying. The cancer treatments were making her Alzheimers worse and she seemed to be stuck in one memory and unfortunately that memory of Adelilne was not a good one. Adeline would go to Dottie’s house every Saturday night but Dottie wouldn’t let her in or even be nice to her. In the end things were worked out between them but it was very sad and I definitely cried when Dottie was dying.
Overall I thought the book was a good one and will most likely pick up another Lisa Wells book in the future.
Rating: 3.75 out of 5
the attraction of adeline starts out at a sex toy party-book signing-strip pole dancing class. when jack foster walks in on it, adeline rigby falls on her head. and maybe it's the concussion, but things aren't quite the same for her after that moment.
jack wasn't expecting to be so taken by adeline, he's heard of her for years, she's one of his sister's best friends, but they'd never met. and now he needs a fake fiancée and she needs a place to live and someone to help her with her french, and maybe it's all meant to be?
jack had been left at the altar a long time ago, and after that he gave up on the idea of love. but maybe it was that he didn't know what love was that caused the problems in his previous relationship. all he knows is that adeline makes him feel things he thought he couldn't. and unluckily for him she's even more skeptical about love than he is.
adeline had a rough childhood, she has trust issues and abandonment issues galore. she knows that jack is good and kind and that he thinks he loves her, but she doesn't believe that love will last. and she can't lose her friendship with his sister. so instead of losing anything she does her best to ignore it and deny it's even happening. and when that doesn't work, she cuts jack out of her life, because if giving him up is her choice it doesn't count as losing.
he is made of sterner stuff. he fights for her. he keeps fighting for her. and when she finally reconnects with one of her foster moms, she realizes that maybe it's okay to let him win this one. because giving up on love is losing. and there are many ways to keep your promises and make your dreams come true. adeline and jack both have a lot of reasons not to believe in love, but when they are together it's hard to deny what they feel even if they can't put it into words. sometimes actions speak louder.
The Attraction of Adeline by Lisa Wells is a warmhearted romantic comedy that is full of surprises. This best friend’s brother romance will sweep you off your feet and tugs on your heartstrings. Fast and fun, this is a nice escape from any real life stressors. WTG Ms. Wells.

This book was much more complex than I expected. What I thought was going to be just a light romantic comedy turned out to be that and so much more. This one has a deeper, more intricate back story that kept me reading to try and find out what was going on with Adeline. While I will admit that sometimes she drove me crazy with her constantly-changing feelings and emotions, her issues also made a sort of sense to me as I am very familiar with the emotional damage that being a foster child can inflict on a person. I just kept rooting for her to fight her way through the trauma and for her to let Jack in. Jack, on the other hand, was good guy from start to finish. He was a fedora wearing good guy whose only real flaw was that he wasn't strong enough to stand up to his boss - a man who was mentally stuck in the 1940's. Although that premise (and Mr. C) drove me nuts, I very much appreciate this author not turning that frame of mine into a political/religious rant. That schtick showing up in romance novels is getting old, and I was incredibly grateful that this author just made the old' codger “old fashioned” rather than eye-roll worthy stereotyping to move her plot along.
I also appreciated that when Jack and Adeline spoke French to each other (which I thought was a great addition to the book), the author made sure to translate everything they said for those of us who don't speak the language.
If you like a book that combines humor with sexiness and deep emotions, you should give this one a read. I am glad that I did!
I requested and was generously granted an ARC through NetGalley. I was under no obligation to review this book, I did so because I enjoyed the story.
AWWW! This book needs a round of applause for being the most romantic non romantic book ever!
The book starts off by showing us Windows into the lives of our love interests. Adeline is an aspiring bakery owner, she is wacky, talks too much, and kind of a klutz. Her best friend Kinley's brother, Jack is in the market for a fake fiancée and what better candidate than the woman who vows to never fall in love?
Jack is taken by Adlime the second he sees her dancing on a stripper pole. When Jack asks Sadie to be his fake fiancée, he didn't intent on actually falling in love with her. His ideal woman is a stay at home wife, one who doesn't have to work (his mother had to work). So falling for Adeline, a woman who wants to own her own bakery, isn't exactly his number one candidate.
I really enjoyed this book, I will admit the beginning was slow and not very inviting. I almost didn't continue because the writing didn't really interest me enough to read more, but thankfully I reached a point where I couldn't stop! It was absolutely amazing and sweet and corny and just adorable!
Loved! This is a delicious novel about Jack, who desperately wants to become partner at his firm, and Adeline, an aspiring chef who longs to go to Paris to study.
Jack's boss has very traditional views of roles. First, that no man should become a partner without being married and, second, that a wife belongs at home and not in the work force. Jack shares these views. Its hard to believe that such dinosaurs still exist, but, sadly, they do, and the author has drawn an interesting picture of one such man involved with a woman very much interested in her own career.
Adeline agrees to help Jack by becoming his pretend fiance, but somewhere along the way real feelings got involved, but Adeline is convinced she can't have a career and a marriage.
This is a fun book that is made me smile and keep turning the pages just as quickly as possible. Fans of the genre will love this book. I've added the author to my must read authors' list.
