As Christians, we are all taught that God has a special assignment for our lives—something we are uniquely equipped to handle and specifically gifted to complete. We are called by God to live our lives with the purpose of fulfilling His mission. The problem is that too often we are caught up in the hectic society we live in to stop and hear God's call. Other times we may not like what God is trying to tell us and we instead try to force a different purpose into His agenda. This book does not claim to deliver a one-size-fits-all solution to finding happiness in your life. It will not come from landing your dream job or finding the perfect spouse. It will not come from earning lots of money and buying lots of toys. True happiness will come when you let God be God. Trust in Him to provide for you as He has planned while you live intentionally and on mission.

Jeremiah 29:11 (CSB) says "For I know the plans I have for you" - this is the Lord's declaration - "plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." We are all familiar with this verse, so why do we take it for granted? We must trust that God is in control and desires the best for our lives, all while living out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. In this book, Daniel Ryan Day uses scripture and personal stories to provide practical ways to live an intentional Christian life, loving God and loving others. He focuses on "common callings" - those that are relevant to all of us - and "specific callings" - those that are more personal or directed. I enjoyed the part where he combines the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) with the "love" verses of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, and the discussions on unity, humility, and justice.

I would recommend this book to all Christians as a reminder that God has already planned the path for our lives, all we need to do is seek His Word. I received this as a free ARC from Discovery House Publishers on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
