This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I did struggle with this book. It did make me chuckle in laces, with the overzealous police officer
who has it in for Ivy’s husband.
The ending was good though, over all it was an ok read.

Hoedown Showdown by Misty Simon is part of the Ivy Morris Mysteries series. Ivy's children are visiting their grandparents for the week, and she has plans to enjoy her child-free time. Those plans come to a halt when she discovers a dead body in a neighbor's shed and a new overbearing police officer comes to town. This book could have been great. The mystery was interesting. My problem was that the main character spent way too much time talking about her sex life. Nothing graphic was mentioned, but the topic got old fast. I thought I was reading a mystery, but for most of the book I had serious doubts. I did make it to the end of the book, but this will be the only one I will read in the series.

Fun series. The interfering young police officer added humor. The overly sexed protagonist just talked about the tingles her husband inspired. There are no intimate sexual details. Good to know that after several years of marriage that her husband still excites her. It did get a tad repetitious, as did the "good word" line. True, but kind of lost its appeal in some places. Overall an interesting mystery and surprise culprit. Tomato, tamato, however you pronounce it is a fun reason for mystery.

This book had potential to be really good, but the lack of character development, the main characters need for sex, and the police officer who had it out for her husband for any little thing got on my nerves. It was overall an okay book. The ending was good though.

This book had the potential to be really good, unfortunately, the constant sexual needs of the main character a turn off.
I don't mind romance or the occasional romantic interlude between characters, however, this felt like hormones gone wild.
The story itself was interesting and I found Ivy to be funny and witty.
Mrs. Crandall was a hoot as well as the other old biddies, and if this didn't read as more of erotic suspense, I would have liked it even more.
