4 stars -- I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.
Huh, I just read my review for book 2 and realized I'm feeling the exact same way! I really really enjoyed the book, but I don't have an immediate gut feeling for rating. I don't get it. It's so weird. This time I assumed it was just my mood, but maybe it's just something about these books. There's just so much to them, and they're kind of odd, and so they don't give you that immediate feeling for how to rate them. Or maybe it's just me.
So yes, babbling concluded, I really did enjoy the finale to this trilogy. Isis was still the Isis we fell in love with in the first two books. She is so wonderfully odd, like so odd you can't even describe her (b/c you know I totally tried to describe her to my husband), but she just enchants me with her wit mixed with horribly childish humour. I know, it's a terribly weird combination. And then you add in her vulnerability and totally skewed sense of self, and she just gets to me you know? She made me laugh laugh laugh, and then cry too...
And we got just a wee bit more of Jack than even in the second book. I shouldn't love that boy, he is his own realm of broken. Like he should have a whole planet to hold his broken. But maybe that's why he gets to me too, you know? Because you see how the choices he's made really have affected him too. And even though he kept making HORRIBLE choices, I still rooted for Jack and Isis. I still wanted the ending that I got. OK, I will admit there was a moment where I kind of wanted a super big twist ending with Kieran, but it was like a fraction of a second.
The plot type things that happen in this series can be a wee bit outside of believability, but they entertain me anyways. I had a bit of a hard time with the revenge aspect. Don't get me wrong, what happened totally fit with Jack's and Isis's personalities, it was VERY CONSISTENT with what we knew about both of them. But it doesn't make me feel good. I think that's what makes this book (and this series) so odd too. Isis and Jack aren't the most morally awesome characters. It makes it hard to cheer for everything they do, you know?
I enjoyed some of the new secondary characters, and I'm so glad we still saw Wren and Kayla a bit. Again, as with the rest of the series, the secondary characters play a role, but not as big as I sometimes like. It's like we get teased with them, but I'm always left wanting a bit more.
I found a few little things got dropped in the narrative. Like Isis's Mom. I needed more there. And the plane ticket. What was the point of that?
But yeah, I'm super satisfied. I'm so happy that it really lived up to what I was expecting of it, even if I had no idea where it would go. I'll definitely be looking for more by Ms. Wolf in the future.
Disclaimer: I received an e-ARC of this book. I chose to review it and this in no way impacts my opinion of it.
When I first read Love Me Never I instantly fell in love with Isis Blake. Her wit and fast mouth kept me in love for the first two novels in the series. The third book took me longer than either of the first two to get me hooked. I found this book had a totally different feel.
I understand that after the end of Forget Me Always was quite dark and so of course things would change but it was almost like Remember Me Forever wasn’t part of the series. Thankfully part way through the book Isis got her sass back and it started to feel more like the books I loved.
There was one point in the book that I won’t go into detail too much because of spoilers, but I felt as if Isis became no better than Nameless. I understand that when someone hurts you as bad as he did to her, that you want to get even, but I found she lowered herself to his level and that makes her no better than him.
I found there to be a few dull parts that seemed to slow down the book and we could have done without whereas the ending seemed a bit rushed and anti-climatic. I really wish we had a bit more of the witty banter between Jack and Isis that I grew to really love and look forward to in the first two novels.
Overall it wasn’t my favourite book of the series, but it was still a good read. I do wish however that this novel was more like the first two. But I believe if you loved the rest of the series you will enjoy the conclusion.
Remember Me Forever was ok. It took me a while to get into this story. In truth, I almost put the book down a few times. I was so lost and very confused. I scanned and skipped around until I got to a place where things started to come together. At the end of the day, I can honestly say that this one is a miss for me. Perhaps, it would have been a hit if I'd read the other books in the series.
Received in exchange for a honest review.
What a great way to end their story. I do hope though we may see them later on down the road. Here Sara Wolf has shown us the pain that Jack Hunter was in. His guilt, regret and when he hit rock bottom and how he clawed out of it. We see his thoughts and feelings. He doesn’t feel very highly about himself and that is sad because he is a good guy overall.
Jack began the book showing us how he controls his emotions. We see the hell he went through after Sophia and the abyss he fell into. We also see how we fought his way out of it and is fighting it everyday. When he gets a chance to sue his mind on a work assignment he grabs it and boy do we get a amazing ride. He is not only grabbing it to use his mind but get revenge and he hopes a sense of peace for the hacker they are after is nameless. Nameless who hurt Isis and also is just a total tool.
Jack arrives on campus where Isis is and the sparks fly. He also begins to feel chinks of the ice on his heart dethaw. He feels again and is scared but he also has a job to do and tries to keep Isis at length. He fails at this though because not only does she make him feel human and feel again she is dogged in getting answers from him. When they finally come together it is wonderful and sweet. Parts that made me feel so much for Jack when he had to resort to a previous profession and feel so used for his job. I loved how his mentor was with him and gave him the space to discover his journey and where he belonged without forcing it on him. He let him go down the path of his journey and find himself, his place and love once more.
Isis is just as fiesty, crazy and nutty as ever. She tries to hide her heart but fails miserably. I hated to see her self destruct but loved her journey to realizing where she belonged and who made her feel alive, safe and whole again. Isis still had the lack of self confidence in her image but Jack does work on that. i thought it was great how she inserted herself in Jack’s mission even when not wanted. She was still a wee bossy but had a heart of gold and her saying what she thought and rambling is endearing. I did swoon over Jack’s concern for her when it came to nameless.
these two together are a odd couple but so fun. they banter off one another and work together. One makes the other feel alive and real and the other gives one confidence, a feeling of being safe and support. they both respect one another and are each other’s rocks. the love each other with all that they are and in this story we see them move on from the past, heal and go forward with one another. We see them fall in love and help each other heal.
A wonderfully snarky, fun, entertaining at times sweet and endearing story of second chances, finding oneself, discovering love, peace and happiness. We get new characters to endear you and old characters to fall more in love with. Jack and Isis and how they come together and help heal each other is a wonderful story and getting both of their POV’s helps you see where they are in terms of feelings, views and in their journey.
In an Oyster Shell – A thrilling finale to the series.
The Pearls – The humor in this book is unprecedented. Isis makes a lot of jokes as joking is her defense mechanism. They are really funny. Jack see’s it for what it is. Yet, it still makes for a humorous read.
The POV is done from both Isis and Jacks side. That helps because if we didn’t have Jack’s POV it would be hard to tell what he is thinking. He is a hard character to read when seen from Isis’s POV. So both POVs are appreciated.
The romance has been teased all throughout the series and it finally comes to a conclusion. It’s satisfying and worth waiting for. The book should be read with the series I don’t think this would work as a standalone. There is too much information in the other books. I’m afraid the reader would get lost if they are just picking up this book.
The Sand – It was a good book.
Thank you to Entangled Teen and NetGalley for a copy of the ARC in exchange for a fair review.
Isis is back and it's been a few months since Sophia's suicide. She hasn't been handling it well, but what makes everything worse is that Jack just took off. He didn't say one word just completely disappeared.
So Isis is trying to be okay with everything and is doing the best that she can. After a summer vacation at her Dad's, she returns to Ohio to get ready to attend Ohio State. Once at Ohio State, she meets Yvette and after having a fabulous conversation they discover they are roommates.
As Isis continues to adjust to life at college and without Jack, she is thrown into a tailspin when she discovers that Nameless also attends the college and that Jack is here as well. Can Isis let go of the past? Can she leave Jack behind? Will Jack finally come to his senses and tell Isis's how he feels about her?
I have loved every single minute of this trilogy. I devoured all three books and reading this one today made me want to re-read them all. The only thing that made me a little sad was Isis was not herself in this book, and I know it was showing her that way because of everything that had happened, but I missed the girl who got in a game of wits and revenge with Jack in the first book. That is my only little complaint.
I did very much adore seeing her leave some of the pain behind, of finally becoming free from the past, that made it all worth it. I love her snark, and her friendships. How she has puked on more than one person's shoes, and that despite being broken she picks herself up and tries so hard to move forward.
Well I have to say that I enjoyed this whole series more than I anticipated. Sara is a new author to me. I was asked by Entangled to read this book in exchange for an honest review, but it was the third and final book of her series. The synopsis for this book intrigued me enough that I read the first two and truly fell in love with Jack and Isis. I didn’t think expect to enjoy this series as much as I did, for various reasons. I truly did not want it to end.
So about this series – it’s a YA romance that had me laughing a lot. Some people may find the ramblings of Isis to be a bit annoying, but I personally truly enjoyed her. She was unique and herself and didn’t apologize for it. Jack – we have all have a Jack in our high school days. He’s a popular one but is nice to everyone too. I love the bantering and the interactions of Jack and Isis. They annoy one another while at the same time, they keep one another on their toes. And then add in their friends, Kayla, Wren, Avery and Sophia plus a few new ones from this book, these characters really round out the whole story.
This book was probably my favorite of the three. Isis really grows in this book. Oh, she still has her quirky mannerisms and off-the-wall sayings, but she matures a lot. She gains personal strength and learns to stand up for herself, and just not fighting for others. Isis has always been one to help others fight their battles, but never face hers – it was her defense. If she was busy helping her others, her problems could hide in the shadows and never be seen. Until she realizes she has to face them in order for her to get what she wants.
Sara’s writing is a little different from what I am used, but it didn’t hurt the story telling. It just took some adapting on my part. I enjoyed how each book she dealt with issues that all teens go through in life. They may not deal with it directly, but they are affected by it through either their friends, family or acquaintances through school. Sara told a beautiful story overall – we are all different and loved the same. I also enjoyed the small bit of secrecy and espionage stuff that Jack dabbled in – it added a different element to the story.
Overall, if you are a YA lover like me, you really enjoy this series. Sara does a great job of building these characters and the plot lines. The writing is perfectly paced and everything pans out really well. I look forward to reading more from Sara in the future.
This book was really unpredictable and it messed my feelings. I still am not over it. It deals with some pretty heavy issues but they were handled sensitively and realistically. But I am glad that I got to read this series.
*Spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk!*
After Sophia's death, Jack drifted away leaving everyone else behind. He wasn't there when Isis needed him the most. Now, she's starting college, lo and behold, she comes face to face with Jack there who tells her he's working a case. The unsaid feelings are not going away anywhere but will Jack and Isis find their way back to each other?
“I'm surrounded by people here, but I'm completely alone.”
This book! Oh my God! The feels!!
I was drowning at times but this book was the perfect conclusion to this series. After Sophia's unexpected suicide, everybody reacted differently. Wren was heartbroken, Isis felt lost, Jack drifted away, My heart completely broke for Isis, the strong and sassy girl I knew was trying to drown her feelings by drinking and partying, even taking drugs which are something completely opposite to her. I could never imagine Isis trying to cope her feelings in that way but she did. It was overwhelming sometimes and I was on the verge of tears.
Jack, I don't know what to feel about this guy. I mean, I loved Jack but taking off all of a sudden, leaving your loved ones behind when they need you the most? He let me down. Jack's "profession", the one he had to do for the money for Sophia's treatment was something he always hated but had to do out of necessity, he always felt used no matter the job but how he do the same to Brittany? Albeit, she was someone I didn't like a bit but still how!! I was enraged! This really didn't sit well with me.
And how can I forget about Nameless. That guy did a number on Isis. She was a master at hiding behind her facade but when face to face with Will, we got to see her vulnerable side. I wanted to fucking kill that guy, for what he did to Isis and thinking it was completely alright. And also for him, she started suffering from body image issues and he thought that was something completely fine to say later stating that he owned her. Really? He disgusted me to no ends. He got the perfect punishment in return but even that was less regarding what he actually did. But I was pleased how Isis handled everything!
“Living is really weird. You never get used to it. But it happens anyway. And sometimes you find things that make it a little more comfortable, and you try to hold on to those things, and the tighter you hold, the faster they slip away.”
Yvette and Diana were the two characters I adored to death. They were perfect for each other and such great friends to Isis. They were the one along with Kayla who was really there for Isis when she was falling apart. I was so glad when Isis finally decided to get help, she really spiralled out of control but she knew she didn't want to do that much damage to herself, so she stepped up for herself. That required quite a lot of guts. She continued to amaze me with her courage and I in that moment I felt so proud of her.
I was glad Gregory knocked some sense into Jack. He knew it, he knew everything yet he continued to hurt Isis just because he didn't want to face the truth. But I''m glad that when he understood how wrong he was, he decided to fight back for her. That was the only redeeming quality for which I partially forgave him. The relationship between the two escalated quickly and it was something I had been waiting for a long time, I was so happy to see them finally together.
Overall, Remember Me Forever was a great read. I loved it, I hated it but in the end, it was worth it. The plot was unpredictable and I enjoyed how it was executed and I couldn't put this book down. The writing was smooth and easy to read and the pace was even throughout the book.
And ending this review with a relatable note-
“Hogwarts didn't even send me a letter and I haven't actually forgiven them for that. Wait until I go to London and find Platform Nine-and-Three-Quarters and slip through to the other side and unleash my rage. I'll make Voldemort look like a sock puppet. And I'll make-out with Draco. And I'll train a bunch of house-elves to fan me and bring me grapes -”
Recommend it?
Yes.
Wow this was .a very intense book. Isis went through a lot, and it was amazing to see her get though her hardships. I would recommend reading the first two books of the series to follow up what is going on in this final book.
Well, I read the first two, so I wanted to see how it ended . My main problem is Isis. She is so immature and annoying that I couldn't stand reading her chapters. And it just got too unrealistic plot wise. I won't be reading the next series by this author.
Ahhh, this book!!! I just want to wrap my arms around my Kindle and hug it.
Remember Me Always is a book I won’t easily forget. Actually, this entire trilogy is one I won’t ever forget. It made me laugh and cry, it drove me a little crazy, it made me a little angry, and it broke my heart. Waiting in between release dates was the sweetest torture- I wanted, no needed, to know how things would be wrapped up and how finally, hopefully, Jack and Isis would end up together, as they were meant to be. But there was a sadness as well, because I knew it was going to be so hard to say goodbye to two of my favorite characters, and boy was it ever. But this book gave me everything I wanted and needed for closure to their story. It gave me more even than I could have imagined.
Remember Me Always by Sara Wolf is the third book in the Lovely Vicious Series that was released by Entangled Publishing, LLC. on May 2, 2017. This book starts right were the other books left off with Jack and Isis. They are both still learning and trying to figure out who they are and what they want in life. Both characters face many ups and downs in this series. This book does not let you down on all the twists and turns Jack and Isis take along with the other characters who try to keep them apart. Isis will make you laugh a lot with some of the comments she makes! She really is my favorite character in this series. Sara Wolf does an amazing job at creating Isis’s character, she is truly one of a kind. This series deals with love, hope, heart break, friendship, and self esteem. I found this series to be one of my favorites and I highly recommend it
<sighs> Ah the final part in the Lovely Vicious series. I have loved this series and still think when it comes to writing, Sara is an amazing author. I've been waiting for this one a while so was so pleased to get a copy through NetGalley.
Its hard to write a review of a trilogy or any set of books which are linked without giving spoilers. So, all I will say to you is that Remember Me Forever picks up where Forget me Always leaves us. After reading Isis and Jack's (Her nemesis)story through the other 2 books you know there is going to be laughs, sadness and a lot of drama. Remember Me Forever doesn't disappoint at all, in fact it also gives you a really good HEA too. There is a few more additional characters in this one, but there's also some from the other books too. I loved seeing Isis grow and how the story unfolded. I also liked we heard from both Jack and Isis in this book, so you get a good grasp of what's going on. I feel many of the loose ends were also cleaned up, so there's nothing left unanswered either.
I consumed this book, I left it sitting on my kindle for a while as I didn't want the series to end plus I also didn't want to be disappointed either if I didn't like it - now I wonder why I didn't read it sooner! I give Remember Me Forever and the complete Lovely Vicious series a solid 4 stars. Highly recommend this set but will also add that its much nicer to read them all back to back (I may have re read the other 2 before hitting this one - just saying).
This book. THIS BOOK. We have gone through hell and back with Isis and Jack and still life hands them the shittiest cards possible. Can you cut them some slack Sara? C’mon!
Isis finds herself in uncharted territory with college. Far enough away that she doesn’t know anyone but close enough to still visit her mother. Here, she can start over. Or, she could have if Nameless hadn’t shown up. With one quick glance all of Isis’ carefully crafted walls come crumbling down and she’s left wading in open water. Just as she’s deciding if its worth swimming over drowning in her past someone else shows up. Someone she hadn’t seen since Sophia’s funeral. Someone she hoped wasn’t dead.
I’m torn between saying this was the best book out of all three with a really good ending and saying I want there to be more. But for there to be more, I assume there needs to be more drama/action and I think truthfully Jack and Isis have had a lifetime of that already. I’m sure there will be some controversy over whether Isis actually overcame her issues and moved on properly and for that all I want to say is everyone moves at their own pace. Everyone heals in different ways and that’s OK!
Nameless plays a big part in this book and we get to see Isis grow as a person and overcome tough issues from her past. She’s no longer that scared, broken girl who put up a front for everyone. I would be lying if I said this book never made me cry. I felt for Isis, rooted for her and cared for her like a parent. I wanted to see nothing but happiness for her. At the end of this book I’m thankful to see life is finally going her way.
I would like to thank the Publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Remember me Forever is the last book in the Lovely Vicious series. You can check out my reviews of the first 2 books Forget Me Always and Love Me Never – Sara Wolf .
I've loved this series so much, it has never failed to make me laugh and definitely never failed to make me cry. After reading Forget Me Always I could not wait for the third book and Sara wolf did not fail to deliver with Remember Me Forever it featured all my favourite characters and gave them the best storylines ( I don't want to spoil anything)
I finished Remember Me Forever in 1 day and I'm going to say that I'm going to miss Jack & Isis and their sarcastic sense of humour
Well done, Ms. Sara Wolf, well done. Major book hangover from devouring it in one sitting. I loved the whole series and highly recommend it and this author. Isis is the queen of snark and I love how strong of a heroine she is. Jack is positively swoon worthy, and not just for his looks, but for his selflessness. This is the 3rd book in a series. Jack and Isis have endured a lot in books one and two, so by now, their journey to self-discovery has been filled with ups and downs, bitter disappointments, and unrealized dreams. However, it is through this bittersweet journey that they both realize they're in charge of their own destiny, and how they react to whatever life throws them is a choice only they can make. Love it!
