Great romantic read with low drama. Fast paced novel with a great build world. Perfect read for an afternoon. Arc provided by Netgalley
Burn is a good story. It has suspenseful, intrique, and it flowed at a good pace, I read it all at once. It will keep you guessing till the end. The characters Ryan and Chloe were likeable, and they both had troubled pasts. Good entertaining read!
Looking for a firefighter romance? You just may have found your next read! This book is part romance, part suspense and part mystery. A perfect combination for your next summer book.
Chloe moved across the country for a man who promised her a relationship and a job that would be perfect for her. She took the risk and moved, but quickly found out that her boss is a total cheater, but a good investor. Chloe thought she could make it work if she kept working for her ex. She had proven herself time and time again in making shrewd business decisions for a company that was trying to revitalize run down parts of the city. However, the day that Chloe was supposedly alone in one of the properties, the place caught on fire and prompted a arson investigation.
Ryan is a firefighter who is trying to work his way up to become an arson investigator. His current boss believes in him and he is pretty good at assisting in some of the current arson investigations. He just cannot believe that Chloe could be the arsonist, even when there are possible clues that point to her involvement. Of course, they both know that they should not be getting close to one another. To Ryan, Chloe could be a possible arsonist and Chloe could think that Ryan is trying to get close to her to investigate the arson. Both of which would not be good starting points for a relationship. As the mystery unravels, the sparks fly between Chloe and Ryan. I had not read anything from this author before, but I am glad I did. It was a fun and engaging read. I wanted to finish it to figure out who set the fires! It's worth your time if you are looking for a romantic suspense book.

This was good. I liked how even when Ryan had reason to doubt Chloe he still looked inside himself and trusted his gut and believed she was innocent. Can’t always say that about Chloe. She was not always that way when it came to Ryan but she did have some bad relationships in the past to bring her dow the wrong path and have her wary.
The story has two characters that you fall in love with in Ryan and Chloe. Ryan is trying to go further in his career and become a arson investigator. He loves his job and has reasons for what he does. Ryan has been through alot and you just feel for him from the beginning. He never wavers though on his belief in Chloe and is there behind her supporting her no matter what. They begin with a fun flirtation and go into a situation where Chloe is in danger from there. We see attraction from the beginning but circumstances do put a hold on them doing anything at first. I love how Chloe was in danger but was always fighting. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time and her boss was a idiot. He wanted control and didn’t really have it with her.
The story is alluring and sexy with the romance between Ryan and Chloe. The trust and faith Ryan shows Chloe is really sensual and intimate. When the situation becomes more dangerous, Ryan is there for Chloe trying to protect her even if it costs him his job. You can see his love and respect for her.
A very alluring story where you get clues as to who is behind the framing of Chloe and putting her life in danger but don’t truly know until the very end and are surprised. You smile at Ryan and his loyalty and fall in love with him and Chloe’s tenaciousness as well. A good story from beginning to end.
Chloe is a real estate developer and although she loves her job her boss/ex-boyfriend is someone she could do without. When the latest project she is working on goes up in smoke due to arson she is considered a suspect.
Ryan is a firefighter who is training to be an investigator. Although the Chief believes that Chloe may be responsible Ryan isn’t so sure.
They meet again through friends and their attraction and connection is immediate. Ryan has a tragic past and hasn’t been interested in being involved in a relationship with a woman, but Chloe may just change his mind. Chloe has learnt from past experience that men are not to be trusted but she is beginning to wonder if Ryan may be different. To further complicate things who is setting the fires to ex-boyfriend’s buildings and why do they want Chloe blamed?
This is an enjoyable storyline full of suspense, romance and twists. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Ahh! Writing this review was so hard becase I feel so contradictive about this book.
The story-line development was interesting. There was a serious background story present with both leads for example. And there was an interesting 'present day' story-line with some mystery woven into it, that keeps you guessing on how the plot will turn out in the end and that made it a fast-paced read from beginning until end.
The firefighter-elements were a joy to read about. I love to read about groups of men, first responders or military man or such, whom have a real comradery-feel present in a group like this. So reading about Ryan and his firefighter team was a joy and I'm really excited to read a next book in this series (hopefully about Jeremey?!). The firefighters fit perfectly within this story
Character-talk
I feel contradictive about both main characters. On the one hand; I really fell in love with Ryan, our hot firefighter male lead, because he is so incredibly sweet and I love a man who has this hero-complex-thing going on. I loved how he stood up for Chloe and wanted to be her hero, in every way possible. But at the same time that was also what was bothering me a bit about his character. He was sometimes so blindsided by his intense feelings towards Chloe that he sometimes made quite stupid decisions to be honest regarding himself - he's one of those characters who FALLS headfirst into something without thinking about the consequences, at all. Normally it doesn't bother me as much, but seeing this particular situation with him and Chloe both keeping secrest from one another, it bothered me a bit I guess. But despite that, I couldn't stop swooning because like I said; I love guys with hero-complexes, lol. He's sweet. He's a friggin hot firefighter?! So yeah; the scale tipped toward 'love' instead of 'hate' regarding this character, even though I had some remarks haha.
Chloe, on the other hand, didn't do much for me unfortunately as a lead character. In the beginning I really came to like and care for her. But when the story progressed and the romance between Ryan and Chloe developed, I became quite irritated with her at times. She blaims him for having trust issues and not telling her all of his secrets, while she's doing the Exact Same thing to him, but that's totally acceptable of course?! That really ticked me off, lol. After that, I found it hard to see Chloe the way Ryan does and everyone else around them; this friggin perfect woman. And normally I love realistic characters, with flaws. But unfortunately, Chloe is that kind of character that became a bit annoying to me.
romance developing and writing
Aside from experiencing that frustration regarding Chloe, I did experience some enthusiastic feelings regarding their developing romance in general, because it was just really beautifully written I think. I liked the slow-burn romance present. Them experiencing this insane attraction towards each other but giving each other time as well to get acquainted with each other on a more emotional level before acting upon their physical attraction was a great way to write this romance I think.
And of course, my remarks on this book are my opinion so please don't let it hold you back picking up this book. When you love firefighter romances with a swirl of mystery and lovable writing, you should really give this book a try! I'm definitely curious about the next book in this series and to see how this author grows regarding her character developments in next books - GIVE ME THEM FIREFIGHTERS, WHOOPWHOOP!

Great heart pounding action and a romance to sweep the reader right into the pages. Nice work.
An intense ride that provides drama, surprises, heartbreak, and heartwarming romance. That's a lot packed into one story, but I can honestly say...it was a fantastic book from beginning to end.
The author has done a remarkable job of creating such realistic imagery that you can feel yourself experiencing the action first hand. I've enjoyed her writing and hope to find more of her books in the future.

This was my first book by this Author. It was a suspsenseful and mysterious read with a hint or romance or two. Who is Chloe Addison? Who is Ryan Monroe? What do each of them do for a living? What happens with Chloe's work that puts her in the crosshairs of an investigation? When her past comes out, thanks to Zack, what does Ryan think? What does he do? What does she tell him if anything? Who is Christopher? What about Lizzie and Blake? This is really a good read. You're going to have to read to find out what is going on with Chloe and when Christopher tries to say Ryan is helping her, what does that do to his career? Does anyone believe what is happening? Read and see!

Chloe Addison's career in real estate development is on the upswing until an explosion destroys her first major project and casts suspicion on her in an arson investigation. Her career and her life are suddenly at risk. Firefighter Ryan Monroe wants a spot on the arson team, and getting close to Chloe might be the best way to solve his first investigation. Despite a painful past of his own, Ryan has dedicated himself to saving people, and when he realizes Chloe is in danger, she’s no exception. He just might be the perfect guy to rescue her, but their attraction could bring them both down in flames.
Burn by Dawn Altieri is a contemporary romance novel, a stand-alone.
Meet Chloe Addison, assistant project manager of a development company and Ryan Monroe, firefighter and - inspector.
Chloe is person of interest in a fire investigation, her boss is an ex and not so nice.
She meet Ryan and sparks fly. She has a major crush on him, but what´s with Ryan? What is his intention?
Secrets and lies threaten to destroy their relationship. Is their love strong enough?
I liked Burn. I liked how both characters fell for each other. They have their issues, but they are so in love. And I liked their beautiful HEA.
4 Stars and Thank you Dawn Altieri !

What do you like to do when you aren't writing?
I’m a complete homebody & enjoy hanging out at home with my family every chance I get. It’s rare for me to leave my house!
What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I love revealing information about various characters personalities and the closeness between them through dialogue. I also always look forward to writing the dark moment as I love me some angst!
What are your favorite types of stories to read?
I love stories that don’t feature a couple who spend the entire book apart or that focus on internal conflict. I much prefer to see the hero and heroine together on the page and to see them working together to overcome external conflict.
Are there certain characters you would like to go back to, or is there a theme or idea you’d love to work with?
I absolutely love following up with characters from a previous story whether it’s including them as secondary characters in a newer book or writing a short novella that revisits them so readers can see them after the HEA
Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers and fans?
I absolutely credit my readers with my success and my career. They, not me, are why I’ve been able to write close to 80 stories in the 11 years I’ve been writing

I loved BURN! Great first book by this author. I couldn't help but feel for Chloe. Poor Chole had some issues with her self-esteem after being in an abusive relationship, and she was plagued by allegations of arson. She was looking to be in big trouble over them. But who better to help her out of it than a hot firefighter, mmm. Ryan had his own past to deal with, but he was everything you get in a hot firefighting hero: heroic, protective, caring, loyal, and sexy as all get-out! And the mystery was titillating. I couldn't wait to find out who was causing all the explosions. Then I read a sex scene between Ryan and Chloe was hot hot hot. Totally love this first book by this author and will be keeping a eye out for more 😊 Will recommend everyone to give this book and author a try you won't regret it I promise. Hello,
I have chosen to DNF this title. I enjoy the firefighter romance, but the connection between Ryan and Chloe never developed for me. Unfortunately. While I liked the characters independently, their interactions felt stilted to me, so I was not able to invest in their relationship.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this title and look forward to the next through you!
Thanks,
Laura
This is my first time in reading this author with I do believe her first one. She must certainly did well with this one. It caught my attention right away with the characters Chloe and Ryan. I tell ya who doesn't love a hunk of a fireman especially one who has a heart to get down to the bottom of things. That heart also though will get him wrapped up with Chloe as answers to some questions need to be found. They both have issues but that doesn't take away but adds to this story. The suspense is such had me on the edge a time or two. There will also be a different kind of heat in this one that good thing he is a firefighter in case it spilled over lol. A nice who done it I suppose is as good as any way to describe the kind of reading.
Burn is a solid first effort. The suspense is decent--I definitely didn't know the whole time who was behind the fires, and there's a few red herrings thrown in to keep it interesting--and the romance is sweet, if a bit on the instalove side. I especially enjoyed the first 60% if the book--a hunky firefighter with a protective streak a mile wide? What's not to love? ;) It lost me a little bit after that point, though, with the continued secret keeping and Chloe and Ryan only revealing select parts of their pasts to each other but then holding the exact thing they themselves did against the other person when the truth came out--very frustrating. The climax is suitably suspenseful and dramatic, though, and the ending is cute despite it's being rushed. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more from this author in the future.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I enjoyed this book. Ryan and Chloe were both overcoming devastating events in their past, I loved seeing them work past their issues to find each other.
Chloe is trying to establish herself as a real estate developer, but a lot of the projects for her company keep going up in flames. Ryan is a firefighter that is trying to join the arson team.
They had heat right away between them. Due to the fires and Chloe being a person of interest made for an interesting struggle for them. You kept wondering who was behind everything. I thought I knew, but still ended up being a bit surprised!
Oh. My. Goodness. "Burn," is a novel that completely lives up to its title as the romance was smoldering hot, the chemistry was blistering and the sensual scenes were completely off the charts! In short, "Burn" is the contemporary romance novel that I have been waiting for and author, Dawn Altieri delivered!
Before this novel's release, I was not thrilled with the way modern-day authors were writing the firefighter theme as I need so much more. I needed a hero like Ryan as in "Burn," hot, widely attractive and confident in his profession. I also needed to be swept-off-my-feet by firehouse sex, mystery and let's be honest the romance! Now, that "Burn" is open to readers I have to highly encourage everyone to read this novel. It is so tempting, so sinfully devouring that there is zero room for regrets.
To discuss a little about Chloe, the heroine, I vastly enjoyed her character. Chloe had suffered dramatically at the hands of abuse and yet she was strong-willed. She used the demons of her past to keep moving forward with her life. Yet, I still favored how she relied upon Ryan to help her during the arson investigation that is the central focus of the plot. The fact that Chloe was a prime suspect was deeply entertaining and I loved how both she and Ryan had to work together to discover the identity of the arsonist as this small detail allowed the romance to be the true spotlight of the book.
In honesty, I cannot say enough about "Burn." It was all that I could have ever wanted in a romance novel and much more.
An exciting and intriguing story filled with a ton of twists and surprises. I really enjoyed the story and the characters in this one. This is a great romance between Firefighter Ryan and real estate developer Chloe. A romance that probably isn't a good idea considering Ryan is hoping to become an arson investigator and Chloe is a suspect in several suspicious fires around town. Being close to her may help him solve the case though. Keeping his heart out of it may be his biggest problem.
Definitely a book I would recommend.
Chloe Addison was emotionally abused and molested growing up. She took off with the first man who offered her a way out of Idaho once she finished college. This man also happens to be her boss. Chloe’s job is repurposing rundown buildings to create and bring back to life areas that have fallen on hard times. When her boyfriend slaps her, she leaves the relationship but continues to work for him. She is determined to be independent and prove to herself that she can make it on her own.
Ryan Monroe is a firefighter who comes from a loving family. However, in his haste to create his own version of a happy family, he connects with a woman who is not the right one for him. The end result of this relationship leaves him with physical and emotional scars.
Ryan and Chloe meet when one of the buildings she is working on catches fire. I didn’t feel any connection between these two. No heat. And the repetition of push and pull from both of them drove me to the edge! Ryan believed her then he wasn’t sure. Chloe thought she might be able to trust him then decided she couldn’t. It took until 80% of the book for them to decide they wanted to make it work and be together. Ugh! Rolling my eyes. I forced myself to finish this book.
